Unfortunately, i had some errors during the install and the documentation did not assist in the resolution of those errors.
1) Database Configuration Assistant Failed to install properly. Error:
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/inprise/vbroker/CORBA/ObjectException in thread "main"
     at oracle.sysman.assistants.dbca.backend.Host.<init>(Host.java:437)
     at oracle.sysman.assistants.dbca.ui.UIHost.<init>(UIHost.java:151)
     at oracle.sysman.assistants.dbca.ui.ProgressOnlyHost.<init>(ProgressOnlyHost.java:72)
     at oracle.sysman.assistants.dbca.Dbca.getHost(Dbca.java:123)
     at oracle.sysman.assistants.dbca.Dbca.execute(Dbca.java:82)
     at oracle.sysman.assistants.dbca.Dbca.main(Dbca.java:144)
Because the Database Configuration Assistant install failed, it did not start automatically following the main install.
2) When attempting to start the database server, I was prompted for a password. None of the passwords in the
default username/password list were acceptable. I am now searching the forums for a resolution to this one.
Many people have asked this question, but no one has answered it yet.

OK, guys.
Here's the deal. I'm running Windows ME (i know, I know). I ran the Typical Install and the Database Configuration Assistant install failed. This crapped out everything following that piece. After two days of mining the forums (not this one). I found the answer to this issue and the second one (no default password for Oracle Database Service startup).
DON'T DO A TYPICAL INSTALL.
Unistall everything. Do a Custom Install and install everything. This includes the Java Beans and CORBA install (which was the reason for the Database Configuration Assistant install failure). During the install, I did get a "Cannot open parameter file initxxxx.ora" during the initial attempt to start the Oracle Database Service. Ignore it. When it's done, you can bring up everything.
Unfortunately, you still cannot access the Local Database in Navigator (you get a "username/password not authorized" or something like that. Right click on the "local Database" item in Navigator. Select Properties. My User for the Local Database was "PO8" and the password for this User (from the Help file is "PO8" as well. But PO8 doesn't have rights on the local database.
Create a new Database Connection. Use "SYSTEM/MANAGER" as the username/password. Once you get the Database Connection up and running, create a new user "PO8/PO8". This will give you rights to the local database.
Whew. This has been tough. Is everything this painful in Oracle?

i have installed a typical version of personal oracle9i for win98 on my e drive.i have windows 98 in c drive. While installing i got two errors:
1)error in writing to file e:\oracle9i\sqlj\lib\translator.zip
2)error in writing to file e:\oracle9i\assistants\dbca\templates\Seec_Database.dbf
Is it possible to perform a custom installation without these errors.
After installing by skipping those errors when i start sql plus i am getting these errors:
ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
-01017:invalid username/password; logon denied
one of the friends suggested that i start oracle services in control panel. but i don't have "oracle services" in my control panel of win98.
is there a way to overcome these errors.

You get this error when you don't start the Oracle services. Please goto control panel and start the Oracle services and then try to login to solve the problem.

Oracle 8i Personal for Win98

I have installed Oracle 8i and everything seems to work OK. However when connecting (TCP/IP) to the database via ColdFusion and other tools the initial connection is very slow with lots of hard drive activity.
Is there a cure?

Long Error message saying Source and Destination are wrong and no writable permission.

8i Personal Ed. R3 V8.1.7 for Win98 zip has dupe files

So that we may better diagnose DOWNLOAD problems, please provide the following information.
- Server name
- Filename
PSORACLE81798.ZIP
- Date/Time
6/26/02 22:00
- Browser + Version
Internet Explorer 5.5
- O/S + Version

- Error Msg
None
The 8i Personal Ed. R3 V8.1.7 for Win98 zip file has duplicate filenames.
This is a real pain to choose the latest version of the file.
The pkzip extract option to skip older files does not choose the most current version.
Why does the zip file contain duplicates???
It should just have the most current version of the file. What a PAIN!

I realized that my PKZIP Extract options were not correct.
One MUST enable USE FOLDER NAMES otherwise it puts all files in one directory, and cannot find them.

Will Oracle personal 9i for Win98 work on XP or is there going to be a specialist XP version released?

Are you getting the complete file when downloading? i.e. the filesize on your disk matches the size listed on OTN.

As per our business requirement , How can I maintain more than one contact person for a single supplier in SRM?
How these contact persons are supposed to log in to a portal with different user id and passwords and access the bids for same supplier.
we are in SRM 7, and currently we are creating contact person throug customised BDC.
please advice.

Creation of Contact Person for a vendor in SUS, MM SUS scenario

Hi All,
We are working on EBP for bidding with SRM 5.0 and ECC6.0 as the backend. When we do BBPGETVD for the vendor root we have to create a contact person for the vendor to logon.
Our clients requirement is that all the data in the R/3 has to come to EBP including the telephone number and email addresses so that the vendor number should be created as the contact persons userid.
Is there any way to achieve this?

Also you dont need to enter any roles while creating the Contact person for a vendor.You just need to enter the employee/user details who will be the contact person for the vendor and after you save all the data ,the CP for the vendor will be created and the system will issue a message "Contact person XXXX for BP yyyyy created".

No POs found when entering with vendor role/contact person for vendor

Dear colleagues,
I wanted to post either a GR or an invoice as a vendor, that is, entering the system as the contact person of the vendor, with the vendor role, and searching for the POs created for me as vendor, then selecting one of them.
However, when searching for POs to post the documents with reference to POs, the report says there are no POs available, when in fact I have created several POs for that vendor in the systems.
What might I be missing? What are the conditions, rules, configuration steps needed so that the vendor can see the POs created for him and post subsequent documents with the role SAP_BBP_STAL_VENDOR and entering the system as a contact person for that vendor?

Hi David,
This scenario which you require for receiving P.Os,sending P.O response, posting confirmation and invoice is called
SUS (Supplier self service) scenario.
You have to configure this scenario to avail all these services and the vendor should be SUS vendor. A mere vendor role will not allow the vendor to perform all these functions.
XI (Exchange infrastructure) is required in configuring the SUS scenario.

How to map the user to Responsible Person for Proj/ Capital Investment Prog

Hi All,
Could you please help me in mapping the user to Responsible Person for Proj/ Capital Investment Prog.
Here is the scenario. I am trying to restrict the user to access only WBS under a cost center but not to have complete access to the Cost Center. I in my way to do, I found out that we can create a user name using OPS6 tcode and use the reference number of the user we created in CJ20N, so as only the person who was added in the Responsible Person for Proj/ Capital Investment Prog list will be able to access particular WBS.
Now my question is, How to map the user which I created using OPS6 tcode to user in user master record. I am not able to map the user, as its taking any random name to add in the list. Could some one please help me in mapping the user created in the list with the user master record.

Thanks for your time and finding SAP note for me. I got the problem fixed. The solution for the above problem is, When we create a responsible person for the project through OPS6 tcode, we have a column called "Offer User", next to the person responsible. We must add the user name next to it. And we can add only the user name which is present in the user master record.
It solved my problem, but when I pressed F1 for help in this column, there is nothing mentioned about its mapping or anything.

any oracle 8i client or oracle 8 client can connect to oracle 9i
database if that helps.
The clients can be obtained from the technet site.

Partner vendor conctact person for projects

Hi guys!
Iu2019m trying to create a vendor contact person for my project. I want to have a vendor and then I want a vendor contact person.
I started in t/code u201COPSPAR1u201D to define a partner roles, I create a partner role u201CVendoru201D and u201CVendor Contact Personu201D with type of partner u201CLI Vendoru201D resp. u201CAP Contact Personsu201D then I create a Partner schema for WBS in t/code u201COPSPAR3u201D, as far as good.
In the project it seems to be good but when I will choose a contact person it turns to be contact person for customers not for vendors!?
I think both customer and vendors use the same function, but think I should choose if I want a customer or vendors contact person t/code u201COPSPAR1u201D but there is not that kind of partner type only one call u201CAP Contact Personsu201D.
Do you know if the purpose of this function is right or is a bug? Do you have any idea how to use it? Maybe itu2019s meant to be use this way?

This is the response I got from SAP:
this is standardbehaviour.
When you select as role "contact person" and call the F4-help for
the field "partner", the system opens the search help for customer.
This systembehaviour is hard-coded.
You have to use the "name"-field instead. When you set the name,
only the contact person number is hidden.
This systemehaviour is standard and has also been confirmed by
development.

Create contact person for a Vendor

Hi experts
Someone could explaim the processes of contact person creation.
I replicated the vendor from R/3 and now I need to send a BId to this vendor but the sistem ask for a contact person, so I tried go to transaction Manage business Partner - Employ to Business Partner and tried to create a contact person for this vendor, but when I try to choose a roles for this user no roles is found and is not possible create the user.
Where can I insert the roles to found when creating the user?

FM to maintain email id of contact person for a customer

I need to create a contact person for a customer master using a FM.
I am able to create a contact person and maintain his last name , first name and telephone using FM SD_CUSTOMER_MAINTAIN_ALL.But I am not able to maintain email id of contact person.Is there any separate FM for this purpose.If anyone has any info regarding this pls help me.
