9iAS 1.0.2.1 on Solaris

Hi,
Did anyone try to test entity beans with upgraded version of 9iAS from 1.0.2.0 to 1.0.2.1 on Solaris?
I tried, but still did not succeed. Oracle claims that this version supports entity beans. I tried Oracle examples (BMP and CMP entity beans) and both of them failed.
Can anyone clarify it?
Thank you.

Hi "Oracle staff",
I really need reply from you.
I had problems deploying and publishing ejb on Solaris with 9iAS 1.0.2.1, using just Oracle examples from demo.tar file. None of examples (neither session nor entity beans) worked!!!
All session examples worked in 1.0.2.0 version of iAS.
The error I had:
Message [IOEXCEPTION_DESERIALIZING] not found in 'oracle.aurora.ejb.deployment.server.messages.
When I replaced 1.0.2.1 version of aurora_client.jar with old (1.0.2.0) version of aurora_client.jar IT WAS WORKING!!!
Can you tell me what are consequences of this replacement???
Thank you in advance.

  • 2 phase commit in 9ias

    I have a need to update 2 databases within a transaction, so I need to perform a 2 phase commit operation. I was wondering if
    oracle 9ias v1.0.2.2.1 Solaris supports this type of operation. I can not seem to find it in the documentations.
    thanks in advance.

    Michael -- A true two phase commit is supported in Oracle9iAS v902 onwards. For v1022x what you get are two separate single phase commits. Please have a look at the Oracle9iAS J2EE Services Guide under transactions for more information.

  • /dev/null link destroyed. Need help

    I have Forms 6i applications deployed on the internet under Oracle 9iAS 1.0.2.2 on Solaris 2.9 64 bits OS.
    I am starting the 9iAS running the command "apachectl startssl" as 'root' because that's the only way I am able to grab port 443. However as soon as any output is redirected to /dev/null, the /dev/null link is broken and replaced by a /dev/null file writable to only by root.
    My question is what can I do to prevent that?

  • Error creating dynamic page in an application with a schema other than portal30

    Running 9iAS 1.0.2.2 on Solaris.
    Database 8.1.7.1
    I cannot seem to create a default dynamic page (select 'x' from dual) in an application that has a schema (e.g. test) other
    than portal30. The error seems to be when portal tries to compile the dynamic-page package, it references itself from
    within the package but prefixing the call with the other (test) schema. It never seems to compile? What seems to be the
    problem? Any ideas?

    If you are using any database object other than the applcation owned,then it has to be prefixed with the schema owner.
    For example,
    if the application schema is based on the schema "schema1" (say)
    and your query is based on one of the object on "schema2"
    and if you have necessary privilegves to access that object from schema2, then the compiler wont throw any error.
    Can u explain, what u problem you are experiencing in detail?
    (Also, if u give me the portal version, I can cross-verify that).

  • FRM-40735: ON-ERROR triggers raised unhandled exception ORA-06508

    I get the following error message: FRM-40735: ON-ERROR triggers raised unhandled exception ORA-06508
    after login in a Web forms application.
    I tried the solution as described in the Headstart Manual, e.g. recompiling the libraries in the specified order.
    All the libraries are in the working directory and has been included in FORMS60_PATH.
    All the involved stored procedures and packages are valid.
    the same application works fine as C/S.
    Any clue?
    Used configuration:
    Forms 6i
    Designer 6i r 4.11
    Headstart 6.5
    Oracle 8.1.7.4
    Oracle 9ias r 1 running on Sun Solaris 64bit version 5.8

    This is actually a pretty generic error and I would suggest running through the debugger to see the line of code it is actually failing at - that may make it easier to track.

    What could be going wrong?
    Regards,
    John

    I tried your command and it works fine.
    Did you tried to run the command directly from terminal, instead of running from a ksh script file?
    It looks like the way you construct and name the ksh script is not correct. Follow the ksh script syntax if you want to invoke from ksh script.
    Also note the error message comes from shell, not from reports.

    Hi
    You dont need anything special, however the JVM you use must support the encoding you want (unless you are going with a unicode flavor like UTF-8 which all JVM's support). The rest of the i18n stuff like ResourceBundles for messages, date currency formats are handled in your code anyway.

  • Make a DAD time-out

    We are currently running 9iAS 1.0.2.1 on Solaris.
    We have a link from our portal that we want to expire after 10 minutes of use. We figured we could configure a special DAD to time-out after that period, but it does not appear that this is an option. Am I missing something? Has anyone done anything like this?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Checking out how to time out the connection would be the best practice as said already, but for the purpose of providing an example of one way to time out a method, you could look at the following;
    1. Create a Runnable class to perform your queries, and another Runnable class responsible for interrupting the first Runnable after a specified time.
    public class WorkerThread implements Runnable
                    private String query;
         public WorkerThread(String query)
              this.query = query;
         public void run()
              Thread thread = new Thread(new TimerThread(30000));
              thread.start();
              try
                   // INSERT CODE TO SUBMIT YOUR QUERY
                   thread.interrupt();
              catch(Exception e)
                   e.printStackTrace();
    public class TimerThread implements Runnable
         private long sleepTime;
         private Thread parent;
         public TimerThread(long sleepTime)
              this.sleepTime = sleepTime;
              this.parent = Thread.currentThread();
         // Run
         public void run()
              try
                   Thread.sleep(sleepTime);
                   parent.interrupt();
              catch(Exception e)
    }2. Run the first Runnable for each query within your method, and join the threads to it
    for-loop
        //query1
        //query2
        //query3
        //query4
        Thread t1 = new Thread(new WorkerThread(query1));
        t1.start();
        t1.join();
        Thread t2 = new Thread(new WorkerThread(query1));
        t2.start();
        t2.join();
        etc...
        do more stuff

  • Portal Manual Configuration

    We already have 9iAS up and running on our Solaris Server but do not have Portal running. Is there a way to munually configure Oracle Portal or do I have to re-run the installer that comes with 9iAS. If so, will any conflicts arise such as overwriting the existing configuration files etc...?

    Manjeet,
    Take a look at the OPCA or Oracle Portal Configuration Assistant. On an NT system we put a shortcut in the start menu.
    The OPCA will prevent you from having to re-run the Oracle9iAS installer again.

  • Oracle 9iAS on Solaris w/Oracle 8.1.6 on NT 4

    We are currently running Oracle 7.3.4 on NT 4 w/Oracle Application Server 4.0.8.1 on NT 4. We are planning to set up a new Oracle 8.1.6 database server to replace the 7.3.4 database, and after that set up a Solaris box with Oracle 9iAS to replace the OAS 4.0.8.1. Can someone (ideally from Oracle) comment whether there are any issues which would cause problems between such a final set up? I heard that database-wise 8.1.5 was the minimum necessary to work with iAS even back when it was 8iAS. In any case, I would like to get some confirmation that the NT database and the Solaris Application Server will not have problems. I didn't see any comments about problems in a quick look at the 9iAS release notes or installation guide.
    Thanks.

  • Installing BIBeans on 9iAS 9.0.3 Solaris 8

    I was reading in http://otn.oracle.com/products/bib/htdocs/installation/installing_bibeans.html regarding install of BIBeans on UNIX environments that require an X server or XVFB on a "headless" box. Is this the case on Sun V240's? That's what I'm assuming.
    The readme continues to detail that there is no problems with generating images on "headless" boxes when using JDK 1.4.x since it supports headless environments with the following option to the JVM: ' -Djava.awt.headless=true '
    What doesn't make sense to me is whether all of this is necessary in a web application (JSP/Servlet returning a BIBean Presentation) running on 9.0.3 of OC4J in 9iAS on Solaris 8 (V240).
    9.0.3 is running J2EE 1.3.x which uses the 1.3.x JDK. This begs the question of whether 9iAS (OC4J 9.0.3) needs to use JDK 1.4.x (or XVFB) to enable graphic generation of Presentations in a web app on UNIX (Solaris 8)?
    Thanks,
    Laith E.H.

    The Web applications hosted on iAS/OC4J using Beans Presentations do require XServer (or XVFB) on Solaris (all versions of the operating system) box as long as the underlying Java runtime (The Java runtime used to start OC4J) is 1.3.X based.
    The XServer is not required (-Djava.awt.headless=true is required however) when using J2SE 1.4.
    Thanks

  • Create and configure reports server in Oracle 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2 on solaris 10

    Hi All,
    I have installed Oracle 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2 on Solaris 10. I want to create and configure a new reports server.
    Please help as I can't see anything on metalink.
    Thanks/Regards
    Dirish

    In fact when installing 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2, the default report server name looks like this REP60_TEST.INTNET.MU.
    My original tnsnames.ora was like this
    REP60_TEST.INTNET.MU =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = tcp)(HOST = test.intnet.mu)(PORT = 1950))
    I added an alias to the tnsnames.ora file
    now my tnsnames.ora is like this
    REP60TEST,REP60_TEST.INTNET.MU =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = tcp)(HOST = test.intnet.mu)(PORT = 1950))
    This is working fine
    Thanks
