Ranga,
The link provided:
http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/discoverer/content.html
is for Discoverer Administration 4.1.33f and the EUL tables shipped with it are not the right version that is needed by Discoverer Plus that ships with 9iAS 1.0.2.2. The release notes for 9iAS 1.0.2.2 mention that that the version needed is 4.1.36 or 4.1.37.
Thanks.

  • Creation of a Custom Folder in Oracle Discoverer Administration Edition

    Hi
Could anybody help me in solving this problem while creating a Custom Folder in Oracle Discoverer Administration Edition ?
    My Requirement is :
I Connect to EUL_US/EUL_US@<HOST_STRING> under Oracle Discoverer Administration Edition.
I selected a Pre-Defined Business Area Eg. General Ledger
There i created a Custom Folder by Name Test Custom Folder
The Query which i used in my Custom Folder is
    SELECT NAME FROM GL.GL_JE_BATCHES
When i Used this Query it says Table or view does not exist.
The Folder is getting created but without a Query.
I am not able to preceed further.
    Any Help would be appreciated
    Regards
    Nakul Venkataraman

Hi Nakul, you may be running into a problem with the sql for your custom folder. For some reason Discoverer Admin will allow you to create a custom folder with sql, but then if you change it and it has any advanced sql, i.e. grouping sets, analytic functions etc., you probably receive an error.
An option is to create a view using the same sql and create a folder from the database using this view.
    Hope this helps.

  • Oracle discoverer Administration - Business Areas

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to install the Oracle discoverer Administration edition for a user, but only with query/view rights on Business Areas ?.
The user should not be able do make changes , but only to view certain BA : eg : folder links, custom folder queries, properties etc.
Or is there another way of getting the information regarding the setup for a certain Business Area ?

    Hi,
It depends what version of Discoverer you are using. If you are using a later version (10g) then you can give the user administration privilege but no privilege to change the EUL (e.g. format business area). Then when the user connects to Disco Administrator they get read only access to the EUL.
If you are using a previous version then you will have to either write a report off the EUL tables that gives them all the information they need (The Oracle provided EUL Definition Business gives most of this information), or implement your own read only constraints using database triggers.
    Hope that helps,

  • Oracle9i Discoverer Administrator

    Hello.
When create a EUL, with ODBC Driver (SQL Server) , appear this error: Microsoft ODBC SQL SERVER Driver Invalid column name suid.
    In the log appear:
CREATE VIEW EUL5_ODBC_SCHEMAS AS SELECT name AS 'os_schema_name' FROM sysusers WHERE suid > 1 AND uid <> gid
The suid don't exist in sysusers !!!!!!
    Sorry with my English

    Hi,
The database user that you use with Discoverer Administrator must have GLOBAL QUERY REWRITE and CREATE/DROP/ALTER ANY MATERIALIZED VIEW database privilege. You can find full details in the documentation (http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B13916_04/mging_sums.htm#sthref989)

  • Oracle Database10g Express Edition's compatibility with Forms/Reports 10g

    hi,
I have a problem while connecting from Oracle Forms/Reports 10g to Oracle Database10g Express Edition.I have configured through the net configuration assistant and it shows the test is also successful. But while connecting from Oracle Forms/Reports 10g, an error is being displayed saying that the TNS could not resolve service name(ORA - 012154). I am able to connect to my database server normally. I got a doubt now regarding Oracle Database10g Express Edition's compatibility with Oracle Developer Suite 10g. Can I use Oracle Database10g Express Edition as backend for Forms/Reports 10g in a stand alone machine.
Can anyone please give me a solution regarding my issue.
    Thanks in advance.
    RAKESH

12154 means that the TNSNAMES.ora that reports is using does not understand what the '@XE' means.
Check that you do not have several different TNSNAMES.ora files - there are probably several, and the one you are using probably does not point to XE. This is the most common cause I've seen.

  • Discoverer version compatable with 8.1.7

We are currently upgrading from 7.3 to 8.1.7, and I am wondering if the current version of Discoverer will still be compatable. What I am looking for is for someone to tell me what versions of Discoverer are compatable with 8.1.7 of the database or point me to a page on the Oracle web site.

  • Export workbooks not sharded with the oracle Discoverer Administrator

Can anyone tell me how to export workbooks which are not shared with the discoverer administrator.
When I use the command line dis4adm.exe /connect userid/password@db /export destination / workbook "workbookname' it toes only funtion for workbooks shared with the discoverer administrator.
Any advice will be highly appreciated. Thanks

    Hi Marc
The only mechanism to export Discoverer workbooks using the 4.1 Administrator tool is to use the command line.
However, there are severe restrictions on functionality. These are:
    - Only the owner of a workbook can export a workbook. Discoverer administrators do not have the power to export end user workbooks, therefore user accounts need to be temporarily granted administration privileges during the process
    - There is no mechanism to export “ALL” workbooks for a user account. They have to be named explicitly on the command line
    - Workbooks must be exported on a user by user basis because there is no mechanism to export workbooks for multiple users at the same time
Drop me an email because I have a white paper that explains in detail how to export workbooks in 4.1 using the Administrator tool.
    I hope this helps

  • Webcam compatability with XP Media Centre Edition 2005

Can anyone tell me which webcams are compatable with XP Media Centre Edition 2005.

Media Centre Edition is laid out so that it is really simple
and easy to play videos and listen to music. I would stick with XP
as it works and isn't anywhere near as hungry as Vista.

  • Upgrade from 11i to r12 application servers with Discoverer 10g

    Hello, one and all.
I have recently upgraded from 11i to r12 Oracle financial application server, after much patching and testing we finally came to the Discoverer application server.
Most workbooks open fine, however it seems that some of them (about 3%) reference columns that no longer exist in r12, for example, SET_Of_BOOKS_ID has become LEDGER_ID in r12 on the gl.gl_je_lines table.
This causes any workbook that references that business area to return an error 'Database Error - ORA-00904: " O974567"."SET_OF_BOOKS_ID": invalid identifier.
Well and good; I think that that's caused by the EUL not being refreshed after the upgrade, so I go to the Discoverer administrator and refresh the general ledger Business area. This unfortunately renames several objects inside the business area, including SET_OF_BOOKS_ID to LEDGER_ID, so instead of that error, we now get several 'Missing item or condition' errors until the workbook will not open at all with an 'Item dependency "" not found in the EUL.' error. This i assume is because the workbooks still reference the old items.
I'm guessing that several Business areas and objects therein have been renamed since nearly none of the workbooks will open now. I have restored the EUL from a backup (imported all the *.eex files) however I was wondering if anyone had faced this issue.
I apologize as I have very little understanding of Discoverer and this might be a simple fix, but I'm at this point willing to try anything for help.
    Thanks!

    Hi Srini
    Srini,
    To understand your above reply,
    You say that
    1) If they are based on 11i Discoverer EUL and Folders then export EUL And WorkBooks and Import them
into R12 Discoverer Environment..Refresh the EUL..So ORACLE will take care of the changes like 11i SOB vs R12 Ledegrs??Pl open a SR with Support on what to do with seeded EUL as part of this upgrade - I suspect you will need to import the R12 EUL as part of this upgrade.
    >
    2) If they are Custom SQL reports from 11i then just RECREATE them from SCRATCH..Correct - after you verify that they are changed to reflect the R12 data model

    Am I right?

  • What privileges should be grant to Discoverer Administrator

    Hello,
We are going to install Discoverer 4i to access our 10g database. What privileges do I need to grant to the Discoverer Administrator? Thank you.

    Hi,
At the very least the Discoverer Administrator should have Administration privileges with Format Business Area, Create/Edit Business Area and Set Privilege. This can be given directly to the user or through a role/responsibility.
    Hope that helps,

  • Urgent help with discoverer 4i installation

Hi All, I just started working on a discoverer upgrade process. I need help in installing discoverer 4i and them refering to a 10g database. Can any one guide to a reference doc which I may refer to finish the complete install. In other words I need to configure discoverer 4i so that we can do development. I have downloaded the admin, desktop and the 3201601 patch for 4i as well.
Not sure if they dont know it or they are not interested in it.
I have been working as a disco admin and developer for quiet some time now but dont know how to install and do the configuration.
    Thanks.
Edited by: Paul S on Aug 27, 2008 3:06 PM

    Hi Paul,
I hate to tell you, but you should be implementing Discoverer 10g (10.1.2.x) and not 4i. Discoverer 4i is de-supported and I do not think it was ever certified with 10g database.
Check the following MetaLink note for details.
237607.1     ALERT: Required and Recommended Patch Levels For All Discoverer Versions
One exception, you mentioned an upgrade. That tells me you are likely on version 3. In which case, you would need to install the 4i EUL to migrate from 3 to 4 and then upgrade to 10g. If you don't have much invested in 3, then it might be a good chance to start clean in 10g. In your case, you install the base 3.1.37 Administrator version on your Windows desktop (that old installer requires it to be the first Oracle product installed and in the default home), then apply 3201601 to bring you to 4.1.48.06, then download and apply 4.1.48.08 (3451630 ).
You can then upgrade the 3 EUL to 4, following the Administration Guide, located on OTN: http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/discoverer.html
Then you can do the same with Discoverer 10G Administrator
I'm just the messenger. Good Luck.
