9iAS and OC4J on Compaq Tru64
We are installing 9i on Compaq Tru64, and I noticed that it is a version behind. Does anyone know if OC4J can be used with this version?
Dont know 100% for sure.
But i think, you have to recompile your
Forms & Reports Application on your UNIX server.
Its not portable through platforms as Java.
But correct me if i'm wrong.
Also just one remark to avoid confusion:

Hi,
Can someone please tell me what license is required to deploy only oc4j on a server?
And the 9iAS HTTP Apache server?
Thanks
nullOC4J and the Oracle HTTP Server are components of the Oracle9iAS standard edition (and also in the Enterprise Edition) so it sounds as if you'd just need to purchase the Standard Edition.
If you're interested in checking the pricing for licensing 9iAS Standard Edition, the online Oracle store will lead you through some questions and will take you to the pricing details.
cheers!

Hi all,
I am currently running 9iAS 9.0.3 (Portal 9.0.2.6) with OC4J 9.0.3. I have a requirement for OC4J 9.0.2 (an Oracle portlet that doesn't run on 9.0.3 yet!). So now I have the following questions:
- Can I keep my current 9iAS installation as is, but in addition have a OC4J 9.0.2 instance?
- Can I upgrade only my OC4J to 9.0.4?
Regards & TIA
Anton.I have encountered a similar problem. This is how I worked around it.
I have Forms applications for which I installed 9iAS 902 into one Oracle home on my server. I also have JDeveloper 9032 applications which I was told require 9iAS 903 to run. So I installed a second instance of 9iAS (903) into a separate Oracle home. The later version becomes the Enterprise Manager and must be left as such. -
I need to know whether or not Discoverer will run on Compaq Tru64. I heard that Oracle9iAS Discoverer Plus and Viewer simply does not run on Compaq Tru64! That this is because Compaq and Inprise, who develops the Visibroker component, can't agree on the license.
How can we state that 9iAS runs on Compaq Tru64, but a significant portion of it's ability (Business Intelligence) DOES NOT? We have a great 9iAS/Disco opportunity and need to get it running on Compaq. Are there any workarounds??? I need to know ASAP.
nullHi ,
Follow the document, it will work.

Hi all,
I plan to install 9i Application Server Enterprise Edition on Compaq Tru64 Unix
running v5.0a.
This will mean that the Unix Sever will
act as a Database Server,Web server,
Forms and Reports Server.
The Developer Server will be on Windows NT
which will be used to compile forms an reports and transferred to Unix.
Will this work?
Is this all possible?????

JSP 2.0 and OC4J 9iAS 9.0.4
Does anyone know if the next release of 9iAS, specifically OC4J 9.0.4 support the JSP 2.0 standard? If not when will JSP 2.0 be supported in OC4J?
Laith E.H.OC4J 9iAS 9.0.4 will not support JSP 2.0.
The release following that will support JSP 2.0.
A developer preview version is planned to be released
some time in next couple of months.

You can run both the Portal and the database on the same Tru64 system, just be sure to put them in separate ORACLE_HOMEs. The database releases that has been certified with the Portal on Tru64 are 8.1.6 and 8.1.7.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Is Generic Connectivity included in 8.1.7 on Compaq Tru64 Unix?
Is Generic Connectivity included in 8.1.7 on Compaq Tru64 Unix? How could I find out via SQL*Plus (if at all)?
TIA,
RobRobin,
Generic Connectivity is not available on Tru64. It is available on Solaris, NT as of 8.1.6 and on HP and AIX as of 8.1.7. -
Hi,
I've install Oracle 9iAS and 9iDS on one pc, both as default, just different home.
I've made simple Form, but I can't run it.
Browser show me next message : "The page cannot be displayed"
1. What I have to run and configure?
2. Is it good idea to use 9iAS and 9iDS on one pc?
Thank youTo start off, just work with iDS - so to run your form in that case you need to manually start OC4J - use the option in the Start menu for this -
Oracle 9i Developer Suite -> Forms Developer -> Start OC4J Instance
By default, that OC4J will be listening on port 8888,
so your url would be something like:
WebLogic 6.0 Compaq Tru64 Installation
Hi all,I would like to ask a simple question about installing weblogic on Compaq tru64. I have installed WL 6.0 on Sun Solaris before. As it was explained in documentation to install WL yo need to write "sh filename.bin" on Solaris. But, on compaq it is a little bit different and i couldn't find any documentation how i can install a .zip file for compaq. This zip file is similar to a .bin file for solaris. I tried "sh filename.zip" on Compaq but it didn't work.Briefly, how can i install WL 6.0 on Comapq tru64. Any help will be accepted. Thanks in advanceAydin Tekin
Hej
The installation procedure for tru64 is a bit different than the other
UNIX-variants and is undocumented.
First you have to download and install a JDK 1.3 from
http://www.compaq.com/java/download/index.html
Check your java version with:
java -version
You can then install the WLS 6.0 by invoking:
GUI wizard: java -classpath weblogic600_tru64.zip install
Command line wizard: java -classpath weblogic600_tru64.zip install -i
console

I have no experience of Tru64, but I would be very surprised
that 'sh' would accept a Zip file as an argument.
I think you need to unzip the file first, try with
unzip filename.zip
unzip -h or unzip --help might give you help
Ask a guru around you for more help about Tru64.
I hope you will find a .bin or .sh inside the Zip,
that you will be able to use with 'sh'.

Sdo_cs.transform on Compaq tru64 UNIX
We have managed to get sdo_cs.transform function working on NT after applying the latest patches. We now need to have it work on Compaq Tru64 Ver 4.0F where we have just installed Oracle 8.1.6.3.0 with all the latest patches.
We get the error:
"ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel"
whenever we try the sdo_cs.transform function.
The following code works on our NT installation but fails on the UNIX installation:

Any ideas???

nullHi Peter,
I believe that functionality was broken in the field test version of coordinate systems that shipped in 8.1.6 only for transforming data stored in the SDO_POINT type. I'm not sure, but I doubt this will be patched on tru64 unix.
If you need to get this working you might want to try storing your point data using the elem_info_array and the ordinate array rather than the optimized point type.
This problem is fixed in 8.1.7.
Hope this helps,

Hi!
I need help. I'm working with OC4J 9.0.2.0.0a behind Apache. In my application a have to obtain data of DataBase and show it in a fdf. To do that i have done a class that obtains the data and a servlet that show it in a fdf using classes of Adobe. The Adobe jar's name is jFdfTk. The servlet runs ok at port 7777, but when i change to port 80 the fdf doesn't show data. I can't understand why.
Does anyone have the same problem??
Can anyone help me??
Does anyone know why??
Thanks!I see now that I can use the old method of JNDI

I am having trouble with this statement;
The ResourceProvider interface enables you to plug in
third-party message
providers for JMS connections. For Oracle JMS, this
allows EJBs, servlets, and OC4J
clients to access many different queue
implementations.
(OK good so far,)
With third-party message
providers, only EJBS can access queue
implementations. The resources are available
under java:comp/resource/ as the default JMS
resources.
WHAT? I can't do asynchronous messaging from a web
App to a MDB with a 3rd party JMS implementation?
What gives?
Can someone tell me this is not true please -
Seeing SampleWebProvider with jpdk v2 and oc4j
I am trying to test the new jpdk version 2 with oc4j (9.0.2.0.0). I have successfully installed Oracle DB 9.0.1.1.1 and Oracle 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2a with patch 2.1.7.1.1 and 81715. The version of Portal is 3.0.9.8.2 and Oc4J is the Developers version 9.0.2.0.0. All on windows 2000.
I have successfully tested the Provider test page which is going through the OC4J port. However, when I register it in Portal I can see the provider under the edit provider list but not when I attempt to view the repository or add a portlet.
I also noticed that there is a file jpdk_dependencies.zip in the portal download area and this description indicates that this is needed when using OC4J standalone version 2. Unfortunately, it is a set of files and no indications where they should be placed.
Any help would be appreciated.Larry,
try to resolve prohttp.jar from your patch file folder (<ias_home>\portal30\patch-3-0-9-8-2\p30982\lib) with "loadjava -resolve -user portal30/portal30 prohttp.jar "
You should set the oracle_home to point to your 9iDB home. At least this helped me. -
Is there Tux 7.1 for Compaq Tru64 Unix 5.1 version
Help!
please tell me if there is Tux 7.1 for Compaq Tru64 Unix 5.1 version.
send it to my email: mailto:[email protected]
Thanks.I encountered matching problem while trying to use Tuxedo 6.5 from the
original installation package. The best match for Compaq Tru64 UNIX 5.1
from the available platforms on the cd was "Digital Unix 4.0d on DEC
Alpha".
However the simpapp failed to shut down, just like Yshyang has written
below. After contacting BEA support, the support personnel asked if a
patch has been applied (check if a $TUXDIR/udataobj/patchlev file
exists). It didn't.
The Tuxedo 6.x platform data sheet at
http://www.bea.com/products/tuxedo/platforms_6.shtml
shows that Tru64 UNIX 5.1 is supported, if Tru64 UNIX 4.0b binaries with
patch level 160+ are used.
We got a separate patch for the 4.0b binaries, but working Tuxedo 6.5
installation binaries for Tru64 UNIX 5.0 are available for download at
BEA web site.
