9iAS application server(Reports)

sir ,
i am using oracle 9iAS on red hat linux 6.2 with oracle 8i database installed on the same machine.
my form server is running fine.
but when i try to run report server from the browser , nothing is shown in the screen except some words like :
GI/1.0 test script report:
argc is 0. argv is .
SERVER_PROTOCOL = HTTP/1.0
Content-type: text/html
and when i look at the report server log ,
i find '*** 14:41:39 server is starting up'
i find '*** 14:44:19 server engine cannot be started'
my Reserver.ora is like this

initengine=0
maxidle=30
security=1
englife=100
repositoryconn="our database userid/passwd@databasename"
i will be greatful to u,please help. this is very urgent

No, you need the Reports Server (as part of the Application Server or Weblogic, depending on your version).
I try to save the report, it's saved as .jspThat depends. You can save it as a .rdf file too (so called Paper Layout). I think this option is used more often.

applications. In a 3 tier architecture, Oracle9i Database fits in the Database tier where as Oracle9iAS fits in the middle
tier. Oracle9iAS provides an infrastructure to run different types of applications(J2EE thru OC4J, Forms applns, Portal
based applns, Wireless applns etc..)

If you are using OLite, you should use the OLite .NET provider:

Hi
Each time when you start your computer, you need to restart Oracle as well, its only with Windows XP. The process you have to follow each time is:
Start -->Run and then type CMD to open command prompt.
In command prompt type
svrmgrl and then press
connect internal/oracle and then press
startup force and then press

Problems in Installation of 9iAS Application Server

I've downloaded 9iAS Application Server & trying to load on Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Edition, Intel Pentium III processor, with 256MB RAM.
After clicking to the Setup.Exe, Oracle Universal Installer appears on the screen. Then when I press NEXT, it gets hanged & is not responding.
When I am trying to load another Oracle Universal Installer, it gives
following error message alert:
jrew.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x6ee33c57 referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory
could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program.
Click on CANCEL to debug the program.
Awaiting an early favourable responce.

Bidhin,
Abandon any thoughts of installing 1.0.2.2 version from download. Oracle will not support it anyway. I just found this out this morning. The install is suspect anyway as I have had numerous problems, an install of 1.0.2.0.0 works fine.
Hopefully Oracle will pull the 1.0.2.2 version from release as it will not work.

Application Server Report Path

Dear Oracle Gurus
I am new to this area of expertise. We have a peculiar problem. Let me try to explain this
We are running Oracle Appication server in Windows based environment( windows server 2003 i presume)
we have multiple projects running in this server. Two of our projects are almost similar and identitcal. They share the same name for forms and reports but the content will be different.
The problem is when we execute a call to a report from our application, the report with the same name from other project gets executed.
I discussed this with our Hardware and network engineers. They said that the path to find the reports is specified in the windows registry file where it is specified that the folder of the other project is given first and then our project folder is specified next.
Tempororily , they put our project folder's name first.
I beileve that there should be some other better and permanant solution for this

Hi ssr,
the best way is to create two or more report server with different names. For each report server you can define a sourceDir and tempDir. You must enter the values of the sourceDir and tempDir in the*.conf File from the reportserver. You will find the *.conf-File in the following directory: $ORACLE_HOME\reports\conf The name of the file is <reportservername>.conf. It is a XML-File. IN Line 15 or 16 you find the Part for the sourceDir and tempDir. After that you must restart the report server.
Call from Forms:
Wenn you call the application you use a "?config=..." part in the formsweb.cfg. Then you must use two diferent *.env-Files. In each *.env-File you add a new environment parameter. Excample REPORTSERVERNAME=.... In your Forms application you can read this parameter with TOOL_ENV.getvar('REPORTSERVERNAME', l_name); And than you can controll wich application use wich reportserver. In our enviroment it works fine.

Oracle Applications Server Reports Issue

Dear All,
When running a report in application server 10g release2(10.1.2). It's showing a error message
"Terminated with error: <br>REP-56109: Job 119651 is terminated due to connection timeout."
Anyone can tell me a procedure to rectify this error. I am struck in development due to this not able to proceed further.
Version Used:
Reports 10.1.2.0.2
Data Base 11.1.0.7.0
Application server 10g release2(10.1.2)
Note: This error occurred only in application server.where in local report builder it is working fine.

Error - 9ias application Server - When open in PDF or CSV

We have 2 9ias application servers with Load balancing.
Server1: Works fine.
Server1 and Server2 are exactly same.
When I run any search in Reports on Server2, results are showing perfect.
When I open in PDF or CSV I am getting error "page not found"
(This is happening from yesterday)
When I did same thing on Server1, it works fine.
help please.....

From the folder that opens, remove any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

but when i call the report its leep loading and in the application servers status it's tell me that the report is (Waiting in the queue)
even the all engines is available and not running any report

Do I need 9iAS (application server) for IFS?

Hi,
I need some inside gossip on the licensing strategy of IFS.
I've been told that I need 9i Application server license for the DB,
as well as just the database license!
I'm not interested in Oracle Portal, just the existing Windows directory
and the standard web interface.
Can anyone comment on the ludicrous nature of this licensing strategy?

My 5cents to keep this topic hot...
The comment above is quite right, most parts needed from the iAS for iFS are free. 9iAS is based on the Orion J2EE server which also is free as far as I know (http://www.orionserver.com). I heard that Oracle bought the company and build 9iAS upon it, but why does development of Orion obviously go on? Strange...
At least Oracle should release some kind of low-cost 9iAS Light with just the components needed for iFS9R2. Or bundle all necessary components for iFS9R2 with DB9iR2. The need for a complete 9iAS installation is overkill!
It just comes to my mind: if you want to integrate and use iFS9R2 from Oracle 9iAS v2.0 (wireless) portal server, a good installation would be one machine running 9iDB, one running iFS and a third one 9iAS. Would you need 2(!) 9iAS licenses? Because i'm pretty sure installing iFS on the same machine as iAS would kill performance.

Oracle 9iAS Application Server Rel 2

Just installed Oracle 9i Application Server and Infrastructure. Tried testing a very small Forms-based application with just a welcome screen and a database login screen. Did nothing after. Here is a snapshot of a situation running out of hand with respect to the system resources and how the resources are being swallowed by 9i services. CPU utilization is at 100% all the time. The following data is from the Windows Task Manager output.

Why are these programs racing out of hand. Why are the I/O Reads and Write so high? These values are rapidly increasing even as I am writing this message.

Thank you for your input. Will try your suggestion and see if I can get service stability with just the options you mentioned. In my case, I had to stretch to a complete install because I wanted to use the Forms and Reports services. These are now under the ...ProcessManager.. service in Windows 2000. Unfortunately we don't see separate services for Forms and Reports anymore in Rel 2. I still don't understand why we should go thru a Infrastructure install if I don't need them for Forms and Reports. It is all cooked very odd this time in Rel 2.
I didn't have to manually set up tnsnames and listener configurations. I am not sure why it happened to you with a basic install.
Not having a complete picture of the install process is a big mystery. Least of all, we have some idea of the Windows services in Appendix D of the Install Guide. Check the following link.

Hi All,
Does anyone know how to migrate current application which is running on iplanet application server 6.5 to oracle9ias application server.
There are documents about migrating from Weblogic to Oracle9ias but i did not found any for iplanet/SUN ONE.
Any hint would be very much useful.

Oracle 9iAS Application Server Download gives me page can't be displayed

So that we may better diagnose DOWNLOAD problems, please provide the following information.

Starting iPlanet Application server reports an error and shuts down the ldap server

Hi,
This has been happening to me starting today. I have kept the service to
be interactive with the desktop. The starting of the service doesn't even
open up the command prompt.
The specific error is
Error 2147 : Internal server error.
Looking up on this error on gave me a statement :
"Error 2147
The specified parameter could not be found in the configuration information.
Explanation: Windows NT could not find a particular entry in your
configuration.
Action: Ask your network administrator to check your configuration. The
administrator should make sure your system configuration contains all
information required to run Windows NT and any associated applications. "
Can anybody put some light on this. The version of iplanet is 6.0 SP2 and is
being run on windows NT workstation.

I ran into this error the other night talking to an openldap server running on solaris ... after hours and hours and hours and hours it turned out to be ...

My client was sending ldap V2 and I set this in my openldap slapd.conf file
allow bind_v2
