9iAS Portal on NT Service Unavailable? help pls

after going through the minimal 9iAS installation for NT, i am able to verify the Oracle HTTP Server (http://localhost/servlets/IsItWorking).
However, when i navigate to the portal start page, it returns service temporarily unavailable. i verified all services are running under control panel and that the installation was successful. has anyone experienced this on nt?

Check your log files. ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/logs/error_log
ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Jserv/logs/jserv.log or mod_jserv.log
Jserv sometimes starts before the database starts on startup(Oracle 8i takes forever to start) on NT. The simple solution is to restart the service(http service that is).

Hello SolMan Gurus,
I understood that while creating a service desk message, a basis ABA message and a CRM message are created.(Correct me if I am wrong).
The CRM messages can be viewed by crm_dno_monitor.
The ABA message can be viewed by dnotifwl.
Initially everything was fine and both the messages got created for me for each service desk message I raise from the Tester's workbench.
Recently I am finding that only the CRM messages are created and the ABA messages are not getting created.
Becos of this I am not able to find any messages created from the tester's workbench in the 'Message Overview' tab associated with the test package.
Any inputs will be greatly appreciated. Pls help.

Thank you for your reply.
Now Based on my finding in (2), I realised that some text type associated with SLF1 is missing.
Then while checking the entries associated with SLF1, I found that the below items were missing.
(1) Notification Types 'ABSC' & 'TASK' were missing.
(2) Associated to notification type 'SLF1', no entries were available for Theme.
(3) Associated to notification type 'SLF1', Priorities were missing(Sometime back when I found priorities missing while create messages using notif_create, I added those priorities)
(4) Associated to notification type 'SLF1', no entries were available for 'Text Types'
Now,
(1) I added the Themes(referrring to entries in '000' client)
(2) I tried to add 'Text Types' entries (referring to entries in '000' client). But it did not allow me to add as a replica as we have to the ids starting with 'z'(user namespace). Hence I was able to add only 9 entries whereas there were more entries in the '000' client.
Now, answering to your question, relating to (3), the processing log says
"Text segment type SD unknown".
This is agian relating to the 'Text Types' entries which were missing.
Can I activate the BC Set for service desk again? If so, will I be losing all groundwork done with service desk? Pls advise.

- The iPod uses the location of a nerby or connected router to determine it location based on a database of routers and their location. It appears that the routers near y are not in Appl'es database. As of yet, nobody here seems to know how to get routers added to the database.
- If you go to Strtbucks. McDonalds or another networks does the location show in the Maps app?

Wireless U-verse TV service unavailable and all troubleshooting's failed! Help?!

It's 6:30 pm and I've been trying all day to get my one wireless TV to work, to no avail. (The other two are connected, working just fine.) The error message greeted me this morning: "Wireless U-verse TV service unavailable." I've worked through any and all the troubleshooting directions I can find (when the website isn't telling me it doesn't find any services associated with my login information) but nothing is working. Anyone got a suggestion, before I break down and tie up my evening with a phone call to AT&T?

I'm using blackberry tour 9630,OS 5.0 and if I want to create my blackberry ID, after finishing typing my email and password then if click on signup after some few second then it displayed service unavailable pla try again later. Server Error on Create user page in 9iAS Portal 9.0.2.0

I have installed Oracle 9iAS Portal 9.0.2.0 on WinNT
I got the SSO page loging thru admin login and everything is fine .....i can get into build page groups etc.....
Problem
creation of users
When i click Build --> Administer --> Create User
Page error:
Internal Server Error

503 Service Unavailable Error: Application cannot be started!

   I have NWE 7.11 SP 01 installed . While try to update to SP04, the server restarted automatically & when i try to access the portal link http:<host>:<port>/irj/portal am getting err as 503 service unavailable. I am able to see irj, JMS_Provider,tcjewebservice_srv,tcwddispwda services in failed state. Please help me out.

Looks like network related issue. Make sure the server is in the network and has proper hostname to IP address mapping maintained.

Apex_util.get_print_document results in "503-service unavailable"

I'm using APEX 4.2.0.3.00.08 with GlassFish 3.1.2.2 on an Oracle 10.2.0.5 database.
Recently I created a report-query together with a xsl-fo report-layout created in Altova Stylevision. I've enabled and configured print-options and when I press my application button, I'm perfectly capable of viewing and/or saving the pdf-version of my report.
Additionally I want to save my report as BLOB in the database, but when I try this using apex_util.get_print_document, all I get in my table is a html-page containing the message "503-service unavailable".

I've been trying to create an application on apex.oracle.com to reproduce the problem, but I can't seem to get it to work.
I've uploaded a very simple layout created in StylusStudio, a simple query on the EMP-table only containgin FIRST_NAME, LAST_NAME and EMAIL and when I add the layout to the query and press "Test report", it works fine.
When I run the report from my application, it only shows a pdf with a thick, horizontal lines, like it's showing only empty cell borders.
Meanwhile I found out that the APEX-listener keeps reporting similair errors, even when I use that same simple stylesheet (created with StylusStudio) on the EMP-table, even when the stylesheet does not contain any special characters at all. In stead of the message starting with INFO: Character decoding failed. Parameter [#x200B;</xsl:text> , it then ignores the complete xslt-stylesheet (the complete contents of the stylesheet is between the brackets, in stead of just the string containg the special chars).
To be honest I'm a little lost now. First my focus was on how to get rid of the special characters, but now it looks like, even when I might succeed in that, it doesn't even solve my problem.
Any idea why my application doesn't show me the same report I see when testing the report-query?

Dear all,
some time ago I've upgraded Oracle Database 10g up to version 10.2.0.4.0 on a Linux system.
Now if I try to connect to HTTP Oracle Enterprise Manager interface (http://(My server name):1158/em/console/aboutApplication) I see this error into my browser: "503 Service Unavailable - Service is not initialized correctly. The Em Key is not configured properly. Run "emctl status emkey" for more details."
If I perform "emctl status dbconsole" command from command line I have this output

Check if your emkey file is still under $ORACLE_HOME/sysman/config/emkey.ora
Also check Oracle doc,

The J2EE server might be overburdened and cannot accept the call. The 'Receive'servlet is not called. You will find further details on the HTTP status code definitions under "http://www.w3.org". Check the accessibility of the server by calling: http://<hostname>:<port>/MessagingSystem/receive/AFW/XI.
The Listener Beans of the affected connection (AFW, Marketplace, BC,see above) were not registered or the log-specific Event Handler was not found.

Hello ,
while importing the message mapping (in which RFC look up is used) from development to quality server, we are getting RC = 12 .
The error log shows the following error:
SOAP:1.007 SRT: Unsupported xstream found: ('HTTPCode 503 : Service Unavailable')
The server is Up and the credentials are also correct.
Can anyone suggest what can be the solution for this?
Do we need to include any specific objects in the Transport?

Do I need start the database before installing Oracle 9iAS portal?

I found the Oracle white paper which talks about installing
Oracle8i EE and Oracle 9iAS portal on windows 2000. Based this
document, after Oracle 8i installaion but before installing
Oracle 8.1.7.1.1 path, all the Oracle database related services
startup type have been changed to 'Manual'.
Based on my understanding, there are some objects will be
created in this database during the installation of 9iAS portal
repository. But this oracle white paper didn't say that I need
have the database ruuning during the 9iAS installation. Do I
need to start the database before installing 9iAS?

Even i am new to oracle application server and had the same doubt that you have.
When you install Application Server there would be two tiers installed, application tier and middle tier, these tiers can be running from the same machine or different machines.
These tiers will have a meta data repository to store application server related data, this database will be installed along with application server.
It is upto you to install "oracle database 10gR2 " before or after installaion of application server, this will be an independent database which will have its own home, but after this installation you will have three homes, ex: infra_home,mid_home and 10gR2_home.
by default oracle_home is set to the last installation that happens so if you install the database 10gR2 after installing application server it will point to 10gR2_home, but if you install 10gR2 before and application server later then the oracle home will be infra_home(if both the middle tier and infratier are on the same machine)
you can always change the oracle home by using set ORACLE_HOME=path/to/oracle/home( in windows)
or export ORACLE_HOME=path/to/oracle/home (in unix)

I've instaled the Oracle portal 3.0.9.8.0 in the Oracle 8.1.7.
From the server machine I can access the Portal, but if I try from a
client machine, a error happens.
If I try only the server machine's name, the Oracle Http Server shows up,
but if I try to do machinename/pls, a error happens and with the server
machine works.
Do someone know what's going wrong? Do I need to configure somthing at the
client machine?
And what about the DAD? Whath do I need to configure?

Where is your midtier, I mean where is your Http Server(Apache) is running? Is it running on the same machine where database is running or it is running on a different machine?? In either cases it doesn't actually matter, unless your are accessing the portal correctly.
You should be accessing the portal in the following manner (From any machine, be it server or client).
http://[midtier-machinename]:[Port]/pls/[DAD]
[midtier-machinename]: The machine on which your Apache is running.
[Port]: Port on which your Apache is running. (You can check it in your your setupinfo.txt file, which gets created when you install 9iAS).
[DAD]: DAD, through which you identify your portal instance. You can check it by giving the following url
http://[midtier-machinename]:[Port]/pls/bootstrap/admin_/dadentries.htm
Just double check your settings on the basis of above mentioned guidelines. Hope it should work.
