9iAS Portal Upgrade Script for HP/UX

I would like to know if we have an upgrade script on HP.

The upgrade for HP/UX should be available in the next two weeks. The HP product line is working on both the 2.2 -> 3.0 and the 3.0.6/7->3.0.8 and expects to deliver them very soon.

    Richard,
You'll need to have 1.0.2.2 to be installed on the middle tier before performing the upgrade for your portal 3.0.9 upgrade repository on the database end. So that means, you'll need to wait for the Linux download of iAS 1.0.2.2 to be available before beginning your upgrade of the portal repository, assuming that your middle tier of iAS is also on a Linux box.
iAS 1.0.2.2 does indeed include Portal 3.0.9, of which Portal 3.0.9 components will be installed during the upgrade process along with the upgrade of the middle tier. During the upgrade process, the installer (from my personal experience on NT), will notify you that it is performing an upgrade installation of your middle tier, provided that you specified the middle tier's ORACLE_HOME when executing the oracle installer.
Just be sure to read and follow the 9iAS Migration guide before beginning your upgrade of the middle tier to iAS 1.0.2.2. After upgrading the middle tier to 1.0.2.2, the actual upgrade of the portal repository was extremely simple by comparison.
The upgrade of the portal repository took a few hours (my recommendation is to invoke it off before leaving for the evening), and it will leave a detailed logfile for you to peruse afterwards, if you choose).

    Harry

  • Upgrade script for 2.1.0.9.3?

did anybody try to upgrade a WebDB version
2.1.0.9.3 to Portal 3.0? The upgrade script
for WebDB2.2 to Portal30 fails due to the
version number. I do not know the differences
between WebDB 2.1.x and 2.2. If the changes
have not been too significant, is it possible
to modify the existing upgrade script
    (WebDB2.2 -> Portal3.0) and still run it?
Thanks for any help or hint
    Joerg

For all of those upgrading to Portal 3.0 from WebDB 2.x, you will first need to upgrade your existing WebDB installation to WebDB 2.2 first before doing the WebDB 2.2 to Portal 3.0.x upgrade. It is a requirement that your WebDB environment be at version 2.2 before upgrading to Portal 3.0.x.

  • URGENT: Where are the upgrade scripts for Tier1 ?

Sorry for the confusion - the page should be updated very
shortly. In the meantime, you can download the 3.0.6/3.0.7/3.0.8
to 3.0.9 scripts for NT/2000 at:
    http://download.oracle.com/otn/nt/portal/p1831355_309_WINNT.zip
and 3.0.6/3.0.7/3.0.8 to 3.0.9 scripts for UNIX at:
    http://download.oracle.com/otn/solaris/portal/p1831348_309_UNIX.z

Note that these are the same scripts that are accessible from
    Metalink (NT/2000 - Patch:1831355) and (UNIX - Patch:1831348)

  • Upgrade scripts for other platforms...

We are in a need for upgrade scripts (Portal 3.0) for other platforms like HP-UX, when will these be available?
Or can we use the scripts for the other Operating Systems, provided we invoke them from that O/S?
    thanks

We'll be posting new versions of the upgrade scripts for HP-UX, IBM AIX, Linux and others shortly on OTN. (I don't have an ETA, but it won't be long, I think). Earlier versions of these upgrade scripts have also been posted to metalink.oracle.com.

  • Upgrade scripts for EUL 4.1 objects to EUL 5.1 objects

I have upgraded the Discoverer EUL layer from 4.1 to 5.1 using the Discoverer Administrator client software. Are there any scripts that would automate this upgrade in the database. I would like to write a shell cripts that calls the upgrade EUL scripts; instead of using Discoverer Administrator to do the upgrade.

please post this on the discoverer discussion forum.

  • Portal Upgrade Failure

    Hi!
I ran the portal upgrade script against a copy of my production database to bring it up from 3.0.8.9.8 to 3.0.9. About an hour after the script was running, the database abruptly came down. When I looked in the altert log, there were numerous ORA-07445, ORA-12805 and ORA-00600 errors that only materialized after this upgrade script started running. It filled my system up with thousands of trace files and core subdirectories which I had to delete but the filesystem never filled up. Now I can open the database but it won't stay open for very long before it abruptly shuts down. Here's a startup from my alert log:

I am running Oracle 8.1.7, 9iAS 1.0.2.0.1 (have a separate 1.0.2.2 which I'll point to the upgraded portal), and Solaris 2.7. There were no errors in the alert log before I started the upgrade script.
Has anyone else upgrading just their portal from 3.0.8.9.8 to 3.0.9 experienced this difficulty. Thank GAWD this wasn't my prod portal...
    Much thanks for any reply....Kate

Thank you Bob! My problem turned out to be that the database backup I used to restore a database copy was actually taken outside of my backup window before the database was shutdown. I should have known that using the init profile allowcorrupted_logs was a harbinger of worse things. Anyway, since the database was completely destroyed by the upgrade script, I used the next week's backup to restore a copy of the databse -- this time with much better results. The upgrade script worked fine after this.
Thanks for the heads up on the bug though. It will probably be useful. Thanks again.
