9iAS Release 2 and 9iFS V9.02 - emctl problem

Hello All,
I have a problem with 9iAS & 9iFS.
The systems setup is as follows.
Server 1 - SuSE Linux - 9iDB for ifs content.
Server 2 - 9iAS Infrastructure (OID, portal content)
Server 3 - 9iAS Middle tier. (portal 9iFS server)
The portal and emctl were working well. After installation of 9iFS on server 3, emctl is very slow to start. the emctl website is very slow to load, and once logged in the site is virtually non-responsive.
In the em.log and emd.log I get multiple references to 'Root cause: Unknown Oracle Home, "/usr/oracle/isuites/" '
Unable to start portal
Anybody know what the problem may be.

Sounds like some initialization might have failed. Do you have any "DCM initialization failed" messages in the log files?

Installation of 9iAS Release 1 on a P-4 - Problem

Hi Friends,
I am trying to install 9iAS Release 1 on a P-4 2.4GHz W2K server with sp 4, 1GB RAM.
When iSetup.exe is invoked, the mouse pointer changes to hour glass for some time but nothing happens (no welcome screen, no wizard).
Inoking exe the second time displays a message that the setup configuration was not proper and setup should be run again.
The same exe when invoked on a P-III 650, W2K Prof. with SP4 it displays the welcome screen and continues.
I will appreciate any help on this.

This is a bug with the P4 chip and the Symantec JIT (symcjit.dll). You can probably get around this by copying the software CDs to a local disk and renaming all instances of symcjit.dll to symcjit.old and running the install from the local disk.

9iAS Release 2 Problem with IE

I have been warned that there is a problem with the IE browser against 9iAS release 2, and that there may be an IE
patch required. Has anyone encountered this problem? Any information would be much appreciated!

Thanks but I have tried doing the above - when I said 7 times I was modest, its more like 15 times.
And I am referring to the 5.1 software update. I dont have wifi so I guess I will have to try that seeing that my husband also has the same problem - he has also tried downloading several times. It always times out en says that the connection is lost but yet there are always an internet connection and a decent signal once it stopped. Think it said error 32052 or something!
I am disappointed because the update includes inprovement on the battery life - did you guys notice any difference?

Difference between 9iAS Release 1 version 1.0.2.2.1 and Oracle 10gR2

Everyone,
We are facing very critical issue while upgrading from Oracle form 6i to Oracle 10g. Earlier the forms were deployed on web using 9iAS Release 1 version 1.0.2.2.1 which now migrated to Oracle 10gR2 Suite (Forms - 9.0.4.0.19 and Application Server is 10.1.2.0.2 and database is moved to Rack). We were not having issue during testing but as soon as we migrated in Production we are having issues starting from Stale connections to Http 500 errors, FRM-92000 and droped or lost network connectivity errors. Still unable to pin point the root cause. We increased the Memeory, JVMs, heap size, connection etc as per Oracle Support recomendations. Recently by looking in one of the article refered by Oracle and found that there are some recomendation for form upgrade from 6i to 10g. All of the recomendations are mainly to avoid network traffic. Now I have been assigned the case study to address this issue in the light of our current application system, which is mainly front end oracle forms, Userexit (C and Perl C for business logic) and Oracle database. This Userexit is residing at the application Server and used mainly for lots of business functionalities.
My question here is what makes this new upgrade different than previous application server. Is there any documentation available that refers how the calls are being received, routed and transmitted from Oracle Application Servers to client, database. I would really appreciate the inputs from all of you. Please feel free to ask if there is any question. Thanks.

Can you show the apache logs, oc4j_bi_forms_defaultisland log form opmn/logs, and other logs with the exact string of error?
This could be related to a lot of things.

I am unable to connect from Jdev 10g to Weblogic 8. I did the thing but still its not working. I am getting the following error
javax.naming.CommunicationException [Root exception is java.net.ConnectException: t3://localhost:7001: Destination unreachable; nested exception is: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect; No available router to destination]
Can some one please help me out. I have been trying this from past 3 days still cannot make it work.

Error on deploying a Web Service on 9iAS release 2

Hi, somebody could help me on deploying a Web Service on 9iAS release 2?, I have applied the UDDI patch through the orauddi.zip file downloaded from otn web site. But on the J2EE Web Service Deploying Wizard (OEM Web Site), at the Web Service configuration stage, a message is displayed telling me that a Web Service must be deployed if the 9iAS instance which has an infrastructure connection, and this is not my case (I don't want to install the infrastructure. The UDDISYS schema was installed on a simple 9i DB release 2 successfully and for the orauddi application deployed I had created a Data Source for this user).
On trying to do the same task from JDeveloper 9.0.3, an error ADM is displayed advincing the searching of errors in the log.xml file located on IAS_HOME/dcm/logs directory. Below I have copy the last part of this file, corresponding to the error day.

Because you do not have an infrastructure database, you will not be able to deploy your web service from OEM as one of its steps is to register the service in the UDDI registy - the Web service deployment and UDDI registration are tied tightly together in OEM right now.
All is not lost, however. You have two routes to deploy the Web Service on Oracle9iAS:
1. Use DCM, which is the command line interface to deploy applications/webservices/wars/ears on Oracle9iAS. It does not have the dependency on UDDI.
To deploy a Web service using DCM, say your Web service ear file were named test.ear your deployment command would look something like:
c:\oracle\ora903\dcm\bin\dcmctl deployApplication -file test.ear

I suspect your deployment problem from Oracle9i JDeveloper may be (this may be an incorrect assumption) due to trying to use a connection that is setup as if Oracle9iAS is a standalone OC4J.

I have had the same problem getting any dates from Oracle as well but after talking to Oracle and bugging them about it here is the response I received:
Sun Solaris before May 31
MS Windows - Solaris date + 8 weeks
Red Hat 7.1 - Solaris date + 1 week
SuSe SLES7 - Solaris date + 1 day
True64 - Solaris date + 4 weeks
I don't know how reliable these dates are but I thought I would pass on what I have been told, since some information is better than none.

Calling EJB from an applet in 9iAS Release 2?

In 9iAS Release 1 it is not so easy to call an EJB from an applet. First the applet needs special privileges and then the applet starts only once. The cause of problem is the implementation of ormi.

9iASR2 and 9iFS. Install which one FIRST?

I decided to install 9iDB, 9iASR2 and 9iFS into a single computer. However, I'm not sure do I need install 9iASR2 before 9iFs? or other hand?

9iAS Release 2 first then 9iFS into the 9iAS release Middle Teir home.
Why bother with 9iDB. 9iAS will require 2 Oracle Homes:
1. Infrastructure - A full 9i database (9iDB hence my question) with Oracle Internet Directory set up.
2. Middle Tier - All the bits required for J2EE, Portal etc. This is where 9iFS should be installed.
Since this is one machine you will need a lot of Processor and RAM for 9iDB, 9iASR2, 9iFS. Hence don't bother with 9iDB.
I have 9iASR2 only on a Win2k Pro system - PIII 933 & 512 MB RAM - The machine has over 700MB committed and swaps most of the time.
Recommend 1 GB Minimum for what you want (Without 9iDB) possibly 2 GB (With 9iDB)

Oracle 9iAS Release 2 (Yes Portal is working) and
Oracle 9iDB Release 2
I currently have install documents that I put together for these particular installs. I do need to update the document to correct some errors that I discovered when testing the procedures, and should have that done in a few days to a week.
If anyone is interested in this documentation, go ahead and drop me an email. Put "ORACLE9iAS-R2-SUSE-8.0" or "ORACLE9iDB-R2-SUSE-8.0" in subject. When the documentation is complete I will forward it to you. I will be most especially interested in any problems that people identify with these procedures. I'm also interested in anyone who can provide some hosting space for these documents.
BTW, I do not check these forums daily, so do not expect a reply immediately if you post here.

I installed on SUSE Linux 8.0 the 9iAS R2, only the option A - J2EE and WebChache. Now I have following problems.
1. Some configuration tools (OC4J, OPMN, DCM)were not initialized in the end of the installation. I read other postings with the same problems, but i never read a solution of these problems.
2. After installation, i want to start the http server manually (dctml start -ct ohs) , but it doesn't work. I got the error message ADMN 100999, i dont know why !
If i want to start the http-server with enterprise manager (EM worked partically) I got an EMException.

Personally, I had a lot of difficulties getting the full install going on 512M (it is fine if you are running JDev and OC4J and DB) but a full 9iAS, even turning off services is tough. Given you are trying 392, I think it is even more problematic.

OID installed with 9iAS 9.0.2 on Windows 2000 problem

I have just installed for the third time the infrastructure component of 9iAS release 2. The problem I am having is with accessing OID via the Directory Manager. When I try to log in using the orcladmin user I get the following error:
"Bind of request to LDAP Server failed."
I can access and get info out of the directory using a web browser and the ldap protocol with problems.
Upon my first install of the infrastructure I found that OIOD installed on port 4032 for non SSL. I have since discovered why this happened and then actually performed a second install after a deinstall. Ever since OID has been installing on port 389 for non SLL I have had this problem. (2 installs produce exactly the same result).
Any help or guidance will be greatly appreciated.

I was experiencing the same problem. I have followed your instructions and got a different error message. I no longer get the binding error but now I get "LDAP server not up and running". How do I start the LDAP server?

Deploying Webservice from JDev 9.0.3 to 9iAS Release 2

Hello,
i have written a webservice with JDeveloper 9.0.3 and on my local OC4J Installation the webservice is working fine.
I can also connect from JDev to that OC4J-Instance and deploy it. I installed that standalone OC4J also on other machines
and had also no problems connecting and deploying to them from JDev 9.0.3.
No I tried to connect to a 9iAS Release 2 (Linux) but everytime I connect I get following errors (see below)
What am I doing wrong ? Workarounds?

You need to install DCM Servlet on 9iAS (902x) before you can deploy to 9iAS .
If you have already done that, Make sure the binding name is correct (it is case sensitive).

I am fed up with Spring and Apple passing me off to one another and neither will fix the problem. I am unable to receive a connection on my phone.

The internet goes out and I have to reset network setting each and every time. This is only a temporary solution which by the time I release the line with Spring or leave the apple store the issue is back. Sprint indicates that it is a know issue with the Iphone 5 and apple says it is a network issue as Sprint's network is not up to par with the Iphone and can not meet the expectations on the Iphone 5.
I have attached a few picture, as you can see it clearly says I have 5 bars and 3g available but I have no connections what so ever.
This issue affects all data and so I can not send or receive picture messages, use apps, or access the internet. The data goes in and out intermittently and it seems the phone chooses what I can and can't do.
For example I can watch Youtube or Vevo videos but I can not access Facebook or Instagram.
Is anyone else having this issue?
I will soon loose my patience....
I have reset my phone three time and have reset network and other setting mutltiple times.
