9iAS tools config

Those tools failed in my 9iAS installation.
Oracle db cache config. assist
oracle portal 3.0 config. assist
starting discoverer4i viewer.
1. Do I have to configure them here or can I do them later, I
didn't find any info. about config them at later time, do you
know where to find?
2. in the starting discoverer4i viewer, looks like some files
are missing, do thses related to other tools because some others
are failed? how to fix the problem? the msg is:

1.You can configure all the tools after the installation.
2.Pls.first check weather your install is success or not.
Also check <ORACKE_HOME>/6iserver/discwb4/util directory is
created or not.If this directory is not there only discovere is
not installed properly.
3.I think you are trying to configure cache database.
The origin database name you specified is not up and running
during the cache configuretion.

CONFIG TOOL :-
The Config Tool enables offline configuration of the J2EE Engine cluster elements. It is XML-based and allows exporting the system configuration for later use.
When you run the J2EE Engine Config Tool via a GUI or text-only interface, it connects to the database and scans the server configuration. The information provided is passed to the corresponding interface that is used for configuration.
Each change you can perform corresponds to a particular task in the Batch Config tool.
All modifications made using the J2EE Engine Config Tool can be exported to an XML file for later use.
two types:-
a) GUI Config tool :- The J2EE Engine GUI Config Tool enables offline configuration of J2EE Engine cluster elements concerning serviceu2019s and manageru2019s properties, adding new server processes, changing Java parameters, exporting the system configuration to an XML file, and so on.
After installing the SAP Web AS Java, a configtool directory is created, containing a configtool script file. Double clicking on this file starts the Config Tool.
b) Text Only Config tool:- The text-only Config Tool enables you configuration of J2EE Engine cluster elements using a text-only based interface. It enables you to change the cluster element properties, JVM settings, add new elements, export the system configuration to an XML file, and so on.
After installing SAP Web AS Java, a configtool directory is created under <SAP_install_dir>/<system_name>/<instance_name>/j2ee, containing a consoleconfig script file. Double clicking on this file starts the text-only Config Tool.

On your machine there is 1 x 6-in1 Bridge Media Adapter (supports SD Card, SmartMedia, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, MultiMedia Card, xD-Picture Card).
I think you must install Driver for this Adapter. Usually you can find all Drivers on your Tools und Utilities CD. If not you can find all supported Drivers on following link:

9iAS Install: Config Assistant, Randomize Password Failing

Am installing 9iAS Rel 2, on a windows 2000 SP 2.
The hardware is as P3 Xeon with 4 CPU's and 3 Gig of Ram.
Install is failing on multiple config assistants but the first one to fail is the Randomize password. The error on the screen says, "oracle.ias.repository.schema.SchemaException: Cannot connect to this database".
I looked in the InstallActions log and this is the error,

I bring up a command dos window and can connect to the database just fine. i.e.

Can re_run 9iAS portal config. assitant after cancelling?

I have to cancel the config of portal in my 9iAS installation
because I run out space on my DB server (on seperate box than
the 9iAS).
1. Are there any problems to re_run the 9iAS portal
configuration assistant? It already created some users in the
origin db (53% complete), will it override what created by the
cancelled one or I need to clean up myself? and what to clean?
2. After the (canncelled ) configuration, I lost 1G space, do
you know where it goes, how to reclaim these space?

Assistant BUT please make sure to deinstall and drop all the
Portal objects in the database. There are two ways:
(1) Run the deinstall mode of the OPCA (Oracle Portal
Configuration Assistant)
(2) Login as sys or system user onto the target database. If the
username used was PORTAL30 in the first install,
- Run the following query, select username from all_users where
username like 'PORTAL30%';
- For each of the users <user_name> listed by the above command
run the following, drop user <user_name> cascde;
2. After the (canncelled ) configuration, I lost 1G space, do
you know where it goes, how to reclaim these space? Well Portal installation should not take up this much space by
any chance. 1GB is a lot pf place and maye you want to check how
much did the database eat up for the Portal installation.

Office Deployment Tool Config for 2013 Pro Plus

Hi!
   I'm trying to update an installation of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 and wonder if somebody could help me with the correct Product ID to use for the Office Deployment Tool configuration.xml file? Almost all the examples seem to
use O365ProPlusRetail.
   The configuration documentation here discusses only Office 365: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219426%28v=office.15%29.aspx
   But it links to this page, which lists product IDs, but no description (thank you not very much!): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2842297/en-us
   There's a "ProfessionalRetail" there; elsewhere I've seen a "ProPlusRetail" which isn't listed there, and I'm hoping that if I get the right Product ID I can get this cantankerous update process to work!

Microsoft have used some rather confusing product marketing terms, which makes it hard to get clear, and also to be clear, when it comes to this release of Office :(
Office 2013ProfessionalPlus - installation uses the classic setup.exe + MSI engine. Can be updated via WSUS.
Office365ProPlus - installation uses the new ODT, and results in C2R virtualized "installation". Can't be updated via WSUS.
So, if you're using the ODT, then you're not using Office2013ProfessionalPlus..

OID required to use 9iAS Tools

I need some clarification ...
I'm being told that if I want to use Portal or Discoverer on Oracle 9iAS Release 2 I am required to use the Oracle Internet Directory. Is this really true? I realize that Oracle Internet Directory is going to be the main authentication mechanism for the other Oracle applications (Financials etc) but does that include Discoverer, Portal, Reports etc?

Multiple instances and mail config

Maybe I dont understand the right concept of multiple
instances but what I did was the following:
Setup up an instance for each domain I have running as a
VHost on apache.
What I was trying to accomplish is the failover of any one
domain and also to use separate mail settings for each domain.
But this is where I seem to have misunderstood the concept of
multiple instances, is it not possible to use a different smtp
server for each domain? When my forms for each domain generates an
email I want the email to originate from that domain not the main
one setup in CF...

Your on the right track.
Set up say 4 websites (virtual hosts) eg www.mydomain1.com,
www.mydomain2.com etc
Set up 4 cf instances if you have 4 domains, maybe call them
mydomain1, mydomain2 etc
Using the Web Server configuration tool, config the cf
instance mydomain1 to virtual host mydomain1, cf instance mydomain2
to VH mydomain2 etc
The website should now be working using their own Cf
instances.
Go into the CF Admin, scroll to the bottom of the left menu
and you should see Instance Manager
Clicking on this should either reveal the 4 cf instances or
you may have to add them (should be a button)
Once you see all 4, you should be able to click on the admin
for each individual instance and change the smtp server as
appropriate.
This won't give you failover though, if a CF instance goes
down, that site is gone. Clustering is the way to give failover and
you can achieve this fairly easily.
Expanding on the above example, you would create 8 CF
instances eg mydomain1-1 mydomain1-2, mydomain2-1 mydomain2-2.
Create 4 clusters eg mydomain1cluster, mydomain2cluster etc
In the CF Administrator Add mydomain1-1, mydomain1-2
instances to mydomain1cluster etc
Using the Web Server configuration tool, config the cluster
mydomain1cluster to virtual host mydomain1 etc
each domain should now be using 2 cf instances, you will be
able to down on of those instances the the site will continue
working.
Back in the instance manager under CF Admin, you should now
have 8 instances - config mydomain1-1, mydomain1-2 to the
appropriate smtp server etc
The above is for CF MX 6 onwards too, not sure about previous
versions.
I think thats what your after? I've skimmed over some parts
above in relation to the clustering, but there's a handy doc
floating around on the web by Herrlich & Ramuschkat that will
guide you through it.
BTW, those instances can sit on multiple physical servers for
hardware redundancy. Depending on how many domains you have and the
power of your machines, this is a preferred way to go although
expensive due to multiple CF licences

High level description of why an Enterprise Admin account is required for DirSync config

I understand that as part of the Azure AD Sync tool config wizard you are required to enter the credentials of an Enterprise Admin account. These credentials are required for the creation of the MSOL_AD_Sync service account within the Users OU of Active
Directory. This account is granted read and synchronization permissions to the local Active Directory.
Is someone able to provide a high-level description of what this actually means i.e exactly which permissions are granted and on which objects. Are we talking about having to modify the permissions of every single object within Active Directory?

These Enterprise Administrator credentials are not saved. They are erased from the computer's memory after the service account is created.
How the Active Directory Credentials Are Used
The Microsoft Online Services Directory Synchronization Tool Configuration Wizard uses the Enterprise Admin credentials to create the directory
synchronization service account, MSOL_AD_Sync. This service account is created as a domain account with directory replication permissions on your local Active Directory and with a randomly generated complex password that never expires.
Note:
Changing the password associated with the service account is not recommended.
How the Service Account Is Used
When the directory synchronization service runs, it uses the service account credentials to read from your local Active Directory and write to the

Workspace page in not loading in EPM 11.1.1.3 on windows 2003 server

Workspace page is not loading , means i'm not able to see the admin, password and log on tab on page
i'm able to open planning through url , EAS console and shared services consol working fine
i'm installed EPM 11.1.1.3 on Windows server and configured it successfully.

Workspace is not open in EPM 11.1.1.3

i'm using EPM 11.1.1.3 on windows 2003 server
i'm able to open EAS and shared service console , Planning (using url)
but i'm not able to open Workspace .

Login to Shared services
Click Administration-->Recover Native Directory
Restart the Shared services and workspace service.
Now login to Workspace Console.

[SOLVED] External USB mouse doesn't work

I've installed Arch on my laptop and today faced with a problem. When I boot with AC off my external USB mouse doesn't work. Also it looks like USB ports don't work. If I detached AC when working mouse works fine.
I can suppose there is some problem with laptop mode. May be it turns off usb ports to save energy. Anyway quick search doesn't brings any results. If someone give me a hint how to solve this problem I'll be very grateful.

Well, after diving into configs solution has been founded. The point was to disable auto suspend feature in laptop-mode-tools config by setting BATT_SUSPEND_USB variable to 0 in /etc/laptop-mode/conf.d/usb-autosuspend.conf
Hope this information will be helpful for users who probably faced with the same problem. Thank you!

Missing Instances in SAP Management Console

After troubles with Deploy (error message occurs) I tried to restart the J2EE Engine with sapmmc, but it does not start correctly (not all icons are green). So I stopped the J2EE engine, rebooted my developer PC and afterwards the list in sapmmc is empty. I only can see "Console Root", "SAP Systems" on the left side and "There are no items to show in this view" on the right side.
Should I start any service manually?

Mid way through the note it says:
You can then register the SAP J2EE Engine as a windows-service by using the SAP J2EE Engine Config Tool. Open a command prompt and change to the directory <J2EE Engine installation directory>configtool and run configtool.bat or start this tool via your Start-Menu "Tools->Config Tool" of the J2EE Server entry. Select at the left navigation area of this tool the entry "cluster/ server" the checkbox "Enabled" at the tabstrip "NT Service". Apply these settings by clicking on "File->Apply" at the menu. Do the same with the entry "cluster / dispatcher".
After you have finished these steps you can register now the J2EE Engine as a windows service.
Start service.exe, which is also located in the directory
<J2EE Engine installation directory>configtool. It works with three
parameters:
Service.exe u2013install u2013 the service(s) is (are) registered as NT/2000 Service(s). For each specified cluster node, a separate service is generated. All services have startup mode automatic. To start the service(s), open the Control Panel ¨Services folder. Find the service in the list of available services (for example: SAP J2EE Server 1, SAP J2EE Dispatcher 1, SAP J2EE Server 2, and so on). Select it, and choose u201CStartu201D on the right-hand side. No u201CStartup Parametersu201D are needed for the service to run. The system starts the particular J2EE Engine 6.20 node in background mode. It can be used and administered as usual. The only difference is that the server does not run in a console window.
There may be other notes along these lines.
You should also check any notes on the setup of SAP in MSCS cluster, as it will contain instructions for registering the services.

I am unable to open any of the java tools (config tool, Visual admin tool, NWA) and even web channel.
when i try to connect to DB through Config tool, I get the error as

Msg: Error occured: Secure store lib Dir does not exists
,hostname>\sapmnt\<SID>\SYS\Global\security\lib\tools.
After restarting the server it works but the next day the same problem appears.

Could anyone help me analyse the root cause and fix the issue.

Thanks for the reply..
uninstalling antivirus server it is working fine, I think antivirus is stopping that server service.
But with antivirus same problem appears every day. should i edit bootstrap.properties and change the location of the libraries from
xx\sapmnt\J2E\SYS\global\security\lib\tools to C:\usr\sap\J2E\SYS\global\security\lib.
