9iASR2 on win2000 SP1
9iASR2 portal doesn't work 'cause oc4j studio application deploying fails
I'm not be able to install 9iASR2 portal on win2000 sp1 PIII machine.
The configuration tool in a full business intelligence installation fails deploying an oc4j application (studio application) during the oc4j service configuration (java null point exception). After that the repository comes blocked, therefore it is not possible to finish the configuration of oc4j and portal doesn't work.
I've installed the infrastructure on intel P4 machine - win2000 sp1 750Mb RAM and full business intelligence middle tier on PIII - win2000 sp1 1.2GB ram.
Any suggestions?
In a new installation attempt after 'dmctl start' I got the ADMN-100999 error. I didn't find nothing about it, what it means?
Tanks in advance,
Enzo.
I have the same problems working against DB version 8.1.6. Logged in as local admin. All ORACLE services set to manually and stopped. The problems didn't occur under english language. Now with a Windows 2000 in german language I am unable to install, because this error coumes and later on when I reboot, it tells me, that the "Java Runtime Environment was not found at C:\DOKUME~\admin\LOKALE~\Temp\OraInstall\jre\bin\jrew.exe"
which is true, the folder is empty.
Is there a solution existing meanwhile?

Grzegorz,
I have had WLS6.1 & ADS working ok using LDAP V2. Mind you it did take
a
fair bit of messing around to get it going. MS does have a few oddities,
for example the Administrators DN might look something like this:
cn=Administrator,cn=Users,dc=eglobal,dc=net
One tool that I found invaluable came with the additional support tools
for Windows 2000. The 'Active Directory Administration Tool' made it
easy to list the directory contents and examine the DNs.

Hi all,
When I installed 9iAS on Win2000 SP1, it prompted to enter the database information such as DB host name, SID etc. If I doesn't want to setup Oracle database as the backend database. Can iAS support other database system such as DB2, SQL server etc?

Codeset conversion on WebLogic v6.0 sp1 (NT/Solaris)
Hi All,
I'm using WebLogic v6.0 sp1 on NT and Solaris.
What i trying to achieve is to convert codeset from unicod(java/jdbc, while
retrieve from Oracle) to big5(to be display on Chinese OS), and vice versa.
I read from WebLogic documentation/Advanced Oracle Features that i could weblogic.code
to whichever codeset desirable.
But it doesn't seem to work after i alter the settings on Connection Pools/Properties
on WebLogic console.
JDBC: v1.2 thin driver.
Database server: Oracle 8.1.6
Client: Win2000 (Chinese O/S)
JDK: 1.3.0
Really appreciate if anyone could enlighten if you hv encountered this problem
or hv the solution.
Many thanks,
KevinHi,
Thanks. I'm currently using getBytes too to convert the char/varchar from Oracle
db to Big5. It's done on every getString() in the code.
Is there an alternative way that could do it on JDBC driver level? or on Weblogic
server level, so that it could reduce on substantial coding efforts.
I try that on thin driver properties, set weblogic.codeset=Big5, but doesn't seem
to make any difference.
Please advise.
thanks & regards

This really all depends on how you are displaying the characters. If
this is via swing, you should read:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/guide/intl/fontprop.html#multiple
If you're writing to a socket, you can get a byte array of the encoded
chars using String.getBytes and pass in the encoding you desire, e.g.
Big5 (you'll have to make sure you have i18n.jar since the Big5 encoder
isn't in rt.jar, see
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/guide/intl/encoding.doc.html).
If you just want to display the data to a webapp user you can either
use
a PrintWriter, which I have found to be very slow or you can write bytes
out to the ServletOutputStream using the conversion method I described
above.

I'm using WebLogic v6.0 sp1 on NT and Solaris.
What i trying to achieve is to convert codeset from unicod(java/jdbc,while
retrieve from Oracle) to big5(to be display on Chinese OS), and viceversa.
I read from WebLogic documentation/Advanced Oracle Features that icould weblogic.code
to whichever codeset desirable.
But it doesn't seem to work after i alter the settings on ConnectionPools/Properties
on WebLogic console.
JDBC: v1.2 thin driver.
Database server: Oracle 8.1.6
Client: Win2000 (Chinese O/S)
JDK: 1.3.0
Really appreciate if anyone could enlighten if you hv encountered thisproblem
or hv the solution.
Many thanks,

I just tried to install 9iAS on my PIII 600, 256 Mb Ram machine with Win2000 server SP1 installed, but after the universal installer launched and tried to copy files, the "Windows File Protection" dialog box jumped out and the installation process stopped. I tried three times, all three times failed.
What might be the possible reason of this error? You got to be an administrator to install the Software. Are you an administrator on this machine?

JNLP prompted to Save (only) in Windows Server 2003 SP1 over https
In Windows Server 2003 when using https to download the jnlp and jars, IE 6.0 prompts to Save the jnlp file. It does not give the option to open it straight from IE..
The IE settings are:
Do not save encrypted files to disk - off/unchecked
Empty Temp Internet Files when browser is closed - off/unchecked
Using Apache and Tomcat5 with the Mime type set correctly to application/x-java-jnlp-file.
When using http, the jnlp launches web start just fine.
When using https on WinXP and Win2000, the jnlp launches just fine.
It seems to be a Win2003Svr/IE security check that will not allow the jnlp to be launched directly.
There have been a few mentions of this on the web, but no solutions have been posted that I could find.
I am using jre 1.4.2_06. I tried 1.4.2_08 because that WebStart security bug was fixed, but the same issue was occurring. It seems like IE is doing it.
It doesn't get to WebStart until after saving the file and then double clicking it.
I have tried most of the IE settings to see if they helped, but to no avail...Hello.
I'm glad someone brought this problem up.
We have about 1000 external customers using webstart for approx. 3 years with runtimes
varying from 1.4.1_XX to 1.5.0_XX. We have the same problem with some customers being prompted by a dialog and what to do with the JNLP file. When these customers try a testing link to a webstart app over HTTP they are not prompted. Only when using our business app. over HTTPS and with Internet Explorer. This behavior does not occur only in Win server 2003 but in several
OS from Windows 2000 , XP Home/Pro SP1 SP2 , Citrix Metframe ..you name it. We have known this for years now and not being able to do something about it since we can't reproduce it. All I know for sure is that IE is behind it all and it's not surprising since it is a part of the OS. When using other browsers like Mozilla or FireFox, it works fine.
The customers are now forced to save the JNLP file and launch the app that way. Not acceptable
Is there some registry change that someone knows of to correct this problem.

Problem installing Oracle 9iAS on Win2000
Hi everybody,
I have problem installing Oracle 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2.a on Win2000.
The process instalation stops when the instalation bar shows 100% complete and copying welcome.html . After that, other processes should start, but it does not happen.
I have installed in an other machine an Oracle 8.1.7 release 3 and I set up parameters as described into documentation. I didn4t applied any patch because I was using release 3 already.
I have 1GB RAM , 1.5 Gb of virtual memory , 2 processors 1,3 Ghz,
and 10 Gb on HD target on both servers(Database and Application Server).
Does anybody have a sugestion ?
Thanks.Kevin, I don't which version of 9iAS you are trying to install, but as far as I can tell no 9i versions of the application server are certified against Windows 2003, only 10g is certified against Windows 2003. So what's probably happening is the installer doesn't recognize Windows 2003 and thinks it's a non-patched version of Windows 2000. You should either install Windows 2000 SP1 (minimum) or install Oracle 10gAS.

WLS 8.1 SP1 Unsafe filename exception
I have WLS 8.1 SP1 running on HP-UX. I have setup a samba share and have Workshop

drive mapped to the samba share. If I build a simple jpf app using Workshop on

1.4.1 problem with IE 6 from XP SP1
I have a simple applet that puts up two JButtons that do nothing, plus there is some simple HTML to invoke the applet.
When I run the applet from a local hard drive using IE 6 (the XP Service Pack 1 version 6.0.2800.1106) as the browser, the applet works. I'm using the Sun plug-in and VM version 1.4.1_01.
When I run the applet from a web server, the HTML runs but the applet never executes. With the Java console on trace level 5, I get:
Loading applet ...
Initializing applet ...
Starting applet ...
Connecting http://theWebServerComputer/ButtonApplet.jar with no proxy
The first line in the applet is a println that never executes.
IE 6 XP original (6.0.2600.0000) with 1.4.1 runs fine.
IE 6 (Win2000 with 6.0.2800) with 1.4.0_01 runs fine.
IE 6 XP SP1 with 1.4.1_01 fails.
IE 6 XP SP1 with 1.4.0_03 fails.
IE 6 XP SP1 with 1.3.1_06 fails.
jar vs. class, makes no difference
jar signed vs. not signed, makes no difference
html converter vs. not run through html converter, makes no difference
The newly-released Windows Update patches to IE 6 XP SP1 do not solve the problem either.Hello Brookshier,
It sounds for me that you forgot to convert your
HTML file with the HTML converter? The HTML
converter can be found within j2sdk1.4.x/bin folder.
Hope this helps. -
Floppy drive problem in Win2000 and older
Hi,
I have a problem with floppy. Does'n regonize where problem is (Driver, Controller,BIOS...).
Configuration:
Intel Pentium 4 HT 2,8GHz Prescott (some models have 3,0GHz Prescott)
MSI 865PE Neo2 (MS-6728 Ver:2)
2x256MB DDR400 Kingstone working in DualChannel mode
GeForce 4 MX 440 with AGP 8x
3COM Fast Etherlink 3C905-TX-M
Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Digital (some models have Audigy)
Mitsumi (some models APLS) Floppy drive 3.5" 1,44MB
HDD Western Digital Caviar WD800JB or Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 60GB
Case with AXT Power Supply 300W (some models have Fortron)
Symptoms:
- Floppy read disks without problems on any OS
- Floppy can't write any data to disks on Win2000, Win98, SuSE91
- Floppy writing data without problem if you have WinXP-SP1 and SP2
- Data writed on any OS without WinXP making disk unusable (format on WinXP will make disk useless)
* Writing data - Create folder, copy files, format disk
Tested without resolution problem:
- Change disk is irelevant
- Change Floppy Drive is irelevant
- Change floppy data cable is irelevant
- Using WinXP drivers for FDD and LPC Controller in Win2000 does'n work
- Update OS (without XP) does'n help
- Updating BIOS does'n help
Thanx

CR Ministry of HealthSorry, all periferials are set to enabled with defined ports etc.
Yea, trying move floppy between working pc and this crazy machines and its indepedent on any floppy drive, floppy disk and fdc cable... This is true...
When you boot another system, floppy is connected, reading is ok. But when you try to write anything, system report "Incorrect parameter" and that's all...
I managing network with Win2K/XP/98/Suse91/HP-UX10 with exchange/oracle and now more resolution of this type of problem, but this problem is absolutly independence on anything...
And with OS, this problem we have about 2 moths ago. Before I post it here, try install licenced systems on this pc. Trying win2000 (on this system we found the problem) after then try win98, suse91 and oldest msdos 6.22. No one of this systems can work. But last suggestion, Prescott procesor made in system some differet. Next week we try change processor type Prescott to Northwood. Some people say its work...
I post it new info, when we have new resolution of this (i think incredible) change processor.
To your
Thanx lot for your resolutions.... Anything we try........ -
Hi All, looking for some assistance with the following issue.
We are attempting to upgrade our Operations Manager 2012 SP1 environment to Operations Manager 2012 R2.
We have completed all the pre-upgrade tasks detailed here

Exchange 2013 SP1 displaying users that no longer exist
I'm currently in the process of migrating my Exchange 2010 SP3 environment over to 2013 SP1 and am hoping someone can give me a hand with an issue I'm having in Exchange 2013. After installation of 2013 with no errors returned, when I log in to the
admin console I'm seeing users that have been deleted from my AD for quite some time with a mailbox type of "Legacy". I've searched high and low to find these accounts and cannot find them anywhere. I've searched through ADSI Edit and
LDP and nothing. If I click on any of these users and choose to edit I get this error message:
The operation couldn't be performed because object 'GUID' couldn't be found on 'domain controller'.
The odd thing to me is that these "Legacy" users are nowhere to be found on my Exchange 2010 server.
Anyone have any other ideas of how and where I may be able to find these users?Below powershell script can help you find out the lingering objects in your AD.
$myForest = [System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectory.Forest]::GetCurrentForest()
$dclist = $myforest.Sites | % { $_.Servers } |% { $_.Name }
$dcs_guid = get-qadobject -searchroot 'CN=Sites,CN=Configuration,DC=domain,DC=root' -Type nTDSDSA -IncludedProperties guid,dn -DontUseDefaultIncludedProperties | % {@{GUID=$_.guid;DN=$_.dn}}
foreach ($dcforestname in $dclist){
foreach ($dc_src_guid in $dcs_guid){
$hostname = ((($dc_src_guid.DN).split(',')[1]).split('=')[1]).tostring()
$dcfqdn = $dclist -like "$hostname*" | Out-String -Stream
$dclist_arr = ($dcfqdn).split(".")
$dcname = $dclist_arr[0]
$dcdomain = $dclist_arr[1 .. ($dclist_arr.count-1)]
$domain_dn = ""
for ($x = 0; $x -lt $dcdomain.Length ; $x++){
if ($x -eq ($dcdomain.Length - 1)){$Separator = ""}else{$Separator =","}
[string]$domain_dn += "DC=" + $dcdomain[$x] + $Separator
write-Host "repadmin /removelingeringobjects $dcforestname" $dc_src_guid.GUID $domain_dn "/advisory_mode >> lingering_debug.log"
