  • Map Definition Tool support in MapViewer 10.1.2

    Hello,
    What about Map Definition Tool support in AS MapViewer 10.1.2? We have used this tool with MapViewer 9.0.4, but after update to 10.1.2 it seems that there is no way to use Map Definition Tool.
    So, if Map Definition Tool is not supported in new release, may be Oracle will introduce some alternative tool?
    Thanks,

  • I can't start Map Definition tool!!!

    I download map definition tool!! and run it :
    java -jar mapdef.jar
    and i recevie a error message:
    Failed to load the Main - Class manifest attribute from mapdef.jar
    Please help me!

    Hi,
    This error is produced, because mapdef.jar was compiled with different version of JVM than yours.
    I can advice you to use newest Oracle tool for map data management - Oracle MapBuilder. You can download it from this page: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/mapviewer/index.html

  • Visualizing maps with the Map Definition Tool

    Right. I am totally confused with this. I am trying to get the map definition tool working so that I can visualise some map data stored in my database. I downloaded the mapdef.jar file from the otn site and first of all it returned a zip file containing a whole load of class files. When I downloaded it a second time it returned the jar file and when I click on that it opens up a blank grey screen. I am going through the mapviewer manual with a fine tooth comb but am still having problems visualizing even a basic map. Mapviewer is working fine but I need to visualise the data rather than just to construct a map conceptually. My host, port, sid etc. details are correct. Can anyone please tell me where do I go from here!

    You don't 'install' the Map Definition Tool as such. Its just a standalone jar file. You run it using the batch file - that'll look something like:
    java -classpath mapdef.jar;C:\j2ee\home\lib\classes12.jar -Dhost="127.0.0.1" -Dsid="orcl" -Dport="1521" -Duser="scott" -Dpassword="tiger" oracle.eLocation.console.GeneralManager

  • Why Map Definition Tool says 'cannot make connection'?

    Hi, i've tried the Map Definition Tool but i cannot connect to my database. It simply displays 'cannot make connection', which is not that helpful. Is it possible to enable a debug mode or otherwise make this tool more speaking?
    I've downloadad this tool from OTN on 12/11/2002 so i think it's up-to-date.
    Thanks in advance.
    Markus

    lj, in your reply to thread 'Map Definition Tool' (Dec 17, 2002 6:42 PM) you stated that JDK 1.3 or 1.2 is needed for the Map Definition Tool to run. I ran the Map Definition Tool with JDK 1.3.1_06 and now it connects to my database!
    Unfortunately it bombs when i click one of the items in the tree view, for example 'Styles/Color' (see stack trace below).
    Any ideas?

  • Map Definition Tool

    Hi there...
    i have dowloaded mapdef.jar file, put it in lbs directory, started it using command prompt, so it opened but not connected.
    i've tried by clicking 'connect to' button, and tried with different parameters but it still didn't connect.
    so, could be any other problem, because these are all the same parameters i have used in mapviewer which works ok?

    i've just put ojdbc14.jar into lbs dir and mad def tool started but still not connected. tried to connect once again by 'connect to' button and still no use.
    this is the input to start map def tool:
    D:\oracle10\product\10.2.0\db_1\lbs\mapviewer\oc4j\j2ee\home>java -classpath D:\
    oracle10\product\10.2.0\db_1\lbs\mapdef.jar -Dhost=dean.brozova.multisoft.hr -Ds
    id=deantest -Dport=1521 -Duser=scott -Dpassword=a oracle.eLocation.console.GeneralManager
    at this moment, this is all that is written in command prompt, the tool is started and status is 'not connected'. after clicking on 'connect to' button and commiting 'OK', following is listed:

  • MapViewer and multiple markers

    Hello, I am using a visual jsf project and the mapViewer in NetBeans.What I want to do is add multiple markers on the map, but I am new to this so I wanted to know if someone knows how to do this.Is there a good tutorial for more complex use of the mapViewer?I have looked in google but all there is about mapViewer is the tutorial from the NetBeans page which is very simple.Any help would be appreciated thank you!

    I have tested your theory without success.
    The scenario is:
    User1 has a series of spatial tables
    User2 has another series of spatial tables
    UserMV is created to have SELECT access to all the tables in User1 and User2
    Both User1 and User2 have their tables registered in ALL_SDO_GEOM_METADATA view and (as UserMV) the query "select count(*) from all_sdo_geom_metadata;" returns a total count of all entries. The query "select count(*) from user_sdo_geom_metadata;" returns a zero count.
    UserMV can also run the following queries successfully:
    select count(*) from User1.table1;
    SELECT count(*)
    FROM User1.table1 A
    WHERE sdo_filter(A.geom, SDO_geometry(2003,NULL,NULL,
    SDO_elem_info_array(1,1003,3),
    SDO_ordinate_array(144.9720,-37.8060, 144.9756,-37.8010))) = 'TRUE';
    SELECT count(*)
    FROM User2.table1 A
    WHERE sdo_filter(A.geom, SDO_geometry(2003,NULL,NULL,
    SDO_elem_info_array(1,1003,3),
    SDO_ordinate_array(144.9720,-37.8060, 144.9756,-37.8010))) = 'TRUE';
    The spatial queries above return the correct results.
    When running the Oracle Map Definition Tool and connecting as UserMV the following message appears when trying to add a new theme:
    "There is no accessible table that has one or more sdo_geometry columns in USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA" which indicates that the connected user must have its own entries in USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA in order to create themes, styles and maps.
    The next step is to manually create a theme and a map in the database table MDSYS.SDO_THEMES_TABLE. Creating the table entries and querying the data yields the following error message from the mapviewer application:
    04/05/25 11:37:40 [oracle.sdovis.ThemeTable, ERROR] cannot find entry in USER_SD
    O_GEOM_METADATA table for theme: MY_THEME
    This indicates once again that the SDO_OWNER must have all spatial tables registered and accessible via USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA.
    What are your thoughts?
    Thanks.

  • Scale in MapViewer and MapBuilder

    </zoom_levels>
    on zoomlevel 18 I'm "closest" to the ground, on 1 I can see the whole world (no data there in my theme but theoretically...) - all fine (except black borders between tiles - other problem).
    Now I want to improve image quality by choosing pyramid-levels for the zoom-level and tried to figure out a way to set up basemaps in mapbuilder using ratio.
    That's where I noticed, that MapBuilder seems to use a different way of calculating scale in comparison to MapViewer. E.g. in my case scale 262144 is zoom-level 18 in MapViewer, but viewing the picture in MapBuilder I have to chose scale 1024 to get the same picture (which is zoom-level 10 in MapViewer).
    Did I get anything wrong about this? Or is there anything I can do to sync the scales in order to make working with mapbuilder and mapviewer combined easier?
    Also is there a way to see which pyramid-level of the georaster-file is used to calculate a maptile in MapViewer?
    Thanks,
    NilsO

    Hi NilsO,
    first about the pyramid level of GeoRaster used. MapViewer/MapBuilder calculates the closest pyramid level for the current map scale (based on map and device windows). You can find this information in the log when the GeoRaster theme images are being generated (you may need to set the logging to finest).
    About the tile layer definition, in XML tile layer definition the values of min_scale and max_scale are interpreted differently from MapViewer base map definition. So I think in your case the min_scale should be 1.0 and the max_scale should be 262144 in XML, and the zoom levels would be in reverse order that you have.
    How did you generate this tile layer definition?
    The visualization scales in MapBuilder/MapViewer and Oracle maps in general should be consistent, although rendering in MapBuilder does not use the zoom levels of Oracle Maps (can be any scale). Please try changing the tile layer definition as mentioned above, to see if you still get the scale differences.

  • Tool/Utility/Method to retrieve roles and mapping of those roles.

    Hi friends,
    We are running SAP EP6 SP2 on WEB AS 6.20.
    I want name and description of all roles created and mapping of those roles ( Roles -> groups and Roles -> Users ) in this system. The one way to do it is using User Administration -> Roles but it'll take a lot of time. Is there any tool/utility/shortcut method available for the same?
    Regards,
    Nilz

    Hi nilz,
      I don't think there is any tool as such to do this. U need some programmatic approach for this. U can get the roles using pcd search but I am not sure if u can get the mapping details.

  • Does Mapviewer / Oracle Maps support file based raster imagery

    Forum:
    We have 1000's of ortho images that we are attempting to serve - with Oracle Vector data - using Oracle Maps.
    mapviewe supports Georaster, and Image themes - and one can use Mapbuilder rather well to configure the system for these.
    However - is there a way (other than to use a non-oracle WMS server) to serve up ortho images from their disk based locations if you do not want do load all your aerial photography into the database ?
    And again thank you in advance.
    JF

    Hi,
    if you have a non-Oracle WMS server that gives access to these images, you may define an external map cache source to access these images. Oracle Mapviewer provides a WMSAdapter class implementation that can be used in this case.
    The follwing example shows the definition of an external map cache for Oracle Maps. Notice the adapter_class (which is shipped with MapViewer) and the properties parameters (which are used to define a WMS request).

    The following Ant snippet is the way I've defined my wscompile task. I'm creating a web application and it looks like yours might be an EJB endpoint, but you can adjust where necessary:
    <taskdef name="wscompile" classname="com.sun.xml.rpc.tools.ant.Wscompile">
         <classpath refid="compile.classpath" />
    </taskdef>
    <target name="init">
         <echo message="-------- ${appname} --------" />
    </target>
    <!-- This target compiles the server components using an existing WSDL as the driving document.
           The configuration file must use the <wsdl> element giving the location (local file system
           or URL) of the WSDL document.
           Note: the fork argument is needed to over come a bug when using the mapping argument. See
           http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=592994&tstart=0
      -->
         <target name="generate-server-from-WSDL" depends="init">
              <wscompile fork="yes"
                           keep="true"
                           base="${basedir}/WebContent/WEB-INF/classes"
                           import="true"
                           features="wsi"
                           xPrintStackTrace="true"
                           verbose="true"
                           mapping="${basedir}/WebContent/WEB-INF/jaxrpc-mapping.xml"
                           sourcebase="${basedir}/src"
                           config="${config.server.doclit.file}">
                   <classpath>
                        <path refid="compile.classpath" />
                   </classpath>
              </wscompile>
         </target>
         <target name="compile-server-from-WSDL" depends="generate-server-from-WSDL">
              <javac srcdir="${basedir}/src" destdir="${basedir}/WebContent/WEB-INF/classes" debug="${compile.debug}">
                   <classpath refid="compile.classpath" />
              </javac>
         </target>Just make sure that the named destination directories exist before you run the script.

  • Where in the database should my themes and styles and maps etc... go?

    We had a problem performing an export of the MDSYS schema for backup purposes. When we tried to import our data, after a database corruption thanks to a patch, the themes and styles, and maps that we created did not get put back in user_sdo_themes, maps, styles, etc... the data was never exported.
    Oracle support is saying that these things should not be going in the MDSYS schema, if they do not go in there, then where should they be going? Also how do I map the definitions back to where I should be putting them? We create all of our spatial data in a schema named RESOURCES. Should I be creating tbles such as user_sdo_themes in my RESOURCES Schema?
    thank you!

    The MDSYS user does in fact contain all of that information, but you should not be exporting the mdsys user any more than you export the sys or system users.
    When I export map metadata for a user, and I want to be able to reinsert that data on import, I will do something like the following:
    before exporting, I will create metadata tables
    create table my_maps as select * from user_sdo_maps;
    create table my_themes as select * from user_sdo_themes;
    create table my_styles as select * from user_sdo_styles;
    I'll export those tables with whatever data I am exporting.
    After the import, I'll do something like this:
    insert into user_sdo_styles (select * from my_styles);
    insert into user_sdo_themes (select * from my_themes);
    insert into user_sdo_maps (select * from my_maps);
    When I am sure everything looks copacetic, I will drop the tables I created for export.
    hope this helps.

  • Question re: MapViewer and Network Model functions

    Hi all,
    Quick question re: MapViewer and it's support for the Network Model and the shortest-path functions. If I create a base map with a network theme based on my (large) network, and then use a jdbc_network_query on the same network to do some shortest path analysis will MapViewer use the (hopefully) cached copy of the Network to calculate the shortest path? i.e can I expect good response times once the cache is warmed up?
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hi Steve,
    MapViewer uses the Network Java library to run the shortest path algorithm. This library is independent of the MapViewer cache, and also not thread safe. So for now the network is always loaded. The load time may be reduced if the request has a MBR, but it is not the ideal solution. There is a working going on, and we hope to avoid this load in future versions.
    Thanks.
