9iLite 5.0.2. and WIndowsCE3.0!!

Dear All,
I must develop an application that creates a connection to a remote application server (Oracle9ias) via gsm/gprs, downloads the data on a pda (UNITECH PT930 with STRONGARM cpu and WindowsCE 3.0 O.S) and then closes the connection.
To do this, I've thought to use the ORACLE 9i Lite.
The problem is that ORACLE 9i Lite 5.0.2 support my PDA (IT IS NOT PPC/PPC2002)?
Can you help me to solve this problem?

I'm trying to design a Java application that uses Oracle 9i Lite on the device, and connects back to the main DB through GPRS... basically in my customer's domain, a job list is downloaded to the handheld, the operative performs each task and records status information, this is then synchronised back to the main DB, however new jobs may be added to the list during the working day.
I spoke to Sun yesterday regarding the JVM stuff, and am also looking at Jeode from Esmertec (www.esmertec.com) which is a current product.
If you email me I'll be able to tell you more about what I've found - I think I can pull off this app in Java, but like you we're wondering about using something else like VB or C at this point...

9iLite and the compact framework for PPC

Does oracle plan to support development for Pocket PC under the compact framework ie. using MS Visual Studio.net. If so, how soon can we except an oracle data adapter for the pocket pc.

If your application is complex you'll undoubtedly have
to extend whichever framework you choose. Struts is
very flexible and allows you to incorporate custom
functionality easily. As it was pointed out, Struts works only with the web tier. If you're writing complex apps, you'll need a more 'complete' framework to manage your middle-tier as well.
If you're not using EJB, lightweight containers like Spring or Pico can help.
BTW, you can use Spring with Struts if you wish. Personally, I'm less than impressed by Struts, but that's just my opinion.

Developer 6i with 9iLite DB

Our Application needs strored procedures, which have been loaded
and populated
to 9i Lite.
Can execute stored procedure against 9iLite with mSQL connected
via jdbc:polite.
But Forms connected via OCA and ODBC doesn't know nothig about
these procedures, e.g. objectnavigator
window -> database objects -> stored program module shows
nothing. And PL/SQL
reports an Error, translating calls to these procedures.
Further more PLUS80 connected via OCA and ODBC also doesn't know
these stored procedures ans hence can not execute them.

Are you able to connect via SQL*Plus? Also, what database version are you connecting too? Have you tried using the Net Config Assistant to see if you are able to connect successfully? Also, when you copied your tnsnames.ora did you copy the sqlnet.ora also?

9iLite on pocket pc to slow

I am using oracle's jdbc driver to access 9iLite on pocket pc 2002 and it is very slow.
I am reading around 1400 records from table and putting into combo box for application... it is taking 30 seconds to load those records.
Any body has any solutions or suggestion for above problem?

You have JVM's for the pocket pc. Those JVM's support different kind of so-called profiles, such as CLDC (connected limited device configuration, and CDC (connected device configuration). Two virtual machines which are pretty good are CReMe and J9 (by IBM). If you do a search on this I am sure you'll get your questions answered. It isn't quite an easy job though and much research will be needed.

9iLite Servlet Implementation

Hi.
We are currently developing an application using JDeveloper9i and 9iLite.
When compiling our application using the JDeveloper9i, it runs perfectly.
But when we try publishing our application using the Packaging Wizard, which was
mentioned in the documentation, the problem arises. It displays this method..
No such method error.

Resolving Replication Conflicts And Errors Very Weak In 5.0.0.6

The current 5.0.0.6 release of 9ilite is very weak in the area of resolving replication conflicts. It seems like you need to create your own conflict handling routine. First, you need to read the C$EQ table in the mobile admin account to check if any errors have been logged. Then you need to read the CEQ$tablename table(s) from the application schema based upon the data contained in the C$EQ table. At this point you can change the data in the CEQ$tablename table and then call the consolidator api from your application to either remove or process the transaction that caused the conflict or error.
I've worked with Oracle Support on this and they don't even have any information on this. It is left up to the user to figure it out.
Perhaps this will be addressed in the 5.0.1 release.
I was wondering how some other developers where handling this issue.

You are correct, the method for bailing out of unresolved conflicts or errors is very lame. It would be 100x better if there were some sort of log file/log table entry giving a clue as to why the conflict is being dumped into the ceq$x table.
As far as workarounds, we're taking the approach of testing our app to the point that we hope no inserts into ceq$ ever happen. Probably a pipe dream, but hopefully later releases will address this.

9iLite is missing lsnrctl.exe

Where do I find lsnrctl.exe in 9iLite on Win2k?

I've been trying to install 9iLite on Win2k for a couple days
now and have had nothing but problems.
I did the regular install of Mobile Server and noticed that the
Repository Wizard didn't start (as in the documentation), so I
edited repwizard.bat, changing the "bin/java" part to just java
(removing the quotes) and ran the .bat. Once I was in the Rep.
wizard, I tried the system/manager pw combo, but continually got
TNS: No Listener messages. A portscan showed that, of course,
there was no listener (I was set up to use TCP).
The docs didn't talk about how to start the listener on 2000,
but a quick read of the forums showed I need lsnrctl.exe. I
checked netca.bat (which is supposed to start the listener
during the install) and a manual run showed that it was trying
to use lsnrctl, but couldn't find it. A full search of the hd
turned up nothing.
So, where can I find lsnrctl.exe?

As far I am aware lsnrctl.exe is not shipped with the 9i Lite
distribution. In addition I was under the impression that the
WIN32 Lite install uses ODBC and not the usual TNS.
However if you wanted to get a copy of lsnrctl.exe you could
pick one up in any Standard or Enterprise version
$ORACLE_HOME/bin. It won't do much for you on it's own however
as it requires supporting libraries, etc.

Running Packaging Wizard in 9iLite Linux

How do I run the Packaging Wizard from 9iLite installed on a Linux machine?
I see there is a wtgpack.jar in the 9iLite/mobile/server/bin directory. Should i run this? And how?
And will Pacaging wizard run on VNC?

Question about Oracle 9iLite installation

In Oracle 9iLite installation and configuration guide for WinXP, there is the following requirement for pre-installation:
"Remove the Oracle JAR file classes1x.jar from the classpath before installing Oracle9i Lite. You can restore the classpath after the installation is complete"
Do you know how to remove it?

9iLite on Plam OS

Does anyone have experience in using 9iLite on Palm OS 3.0? Specifically, we are looking for a JVM that actually exists. Weve looked at Kada, but I have real doubts as the whether the product is real or not.

Sure, I've run some Oracle Lite on my Palm, and built a small app using Code Warrior and ODBC.
JVM? Why? (somewhat rhetorical question) When I noted that Oracle Lite on Palm does not support JDBC, I rather gave up on a Java solution. http://www.jargonsoft.com/m2/index.html was working on supporting OLite, I don't know the status of this however.

However you can run mobile server in 'standalone' mode, with the command webtogo.exe,
if you want debug the state of sessions, execute webtogo -d0.

9iLite Applicability for Distributed Branch Imaging App

I would like some feedback/experience about the applicability of 9iLite to this application:
A branch office image capture application is proposed that would be distributed out to about 5000 branch offices. The necessary data model is a simple transaction/detail-item structure, but with each item containing a front and a back jpeg image BLOB of about 20-50KB (40-100KB total per item). The volume of items per office is on the order of 2-4000 per 8 hour day.
The application must capture both the data and images in a single unit of work. The data portion should be transmitted ASAP to a central site (Oracle9i cluster) for processing. The images may be transmitted later at off-peak times to conserve WAN bandwidth. There is a desire to be able to selectively control the transmission so that certain groups of items can be transmitted before others. There is also a suggestion that the images may be better stored outside of the DBMS at the central site, so it should be possible to deliver the images without having to use a DBMS as an intermediary.
A typical deployment will be on a single Intel machine (Win32 or Linux) per branch that processes messages from various CSR desktop business applications. The proposed capture application is to be written in J2SE 1.3 or above.

Memory leak 9iLite?

I have an iPAQ 3635 running Pocket PC 2002
My eVB application eats memory in 60-100KB chunks each time I read in a series of tables from my database using GetRows.
After extended use of the application the iPAQ memory is eventually eaten away and the application is terminated. Restarting the application is fine and the process of slowly losing program memory with table reads begins again.
Is there a memory leak in the ActiveX Data Objects?

A problem with Threads and loops.

Hi, I have some code that needs to be constantly running, like while(true)

}However, the code just checks to see if the user has input anything (and then if the user has, it goes to do some other stuff) so I don't need it constantly running and hogging up 98% of the CPU. So I made my class (which has the method that needs to be looped, call it ClassA) implement Runnable. Then I just added the method which needed to be looped into the public void run()
I have another class which creates an instance of the above class (call it ClassB), and the main(String[] args) is in there.
