9iR2 OLAP Reporting Server Capacity Question

9iR2 OLAP Reporting Server Capacity Question
We are running Oracle 9iR2 with OLAP.
OS - RHEL3 AS
SERVERS - Dell Poweredge 6600's
cpu 4 x 2.4ghz
24GB RAM
1.5 TB space
Our AWs are typically 30GB in size. My question is, what is my capacity of jdbc thin client user sessions per box? I haven't been able to find much documentation on scalability with large AWs and a large user base. We will need to host reports for 6000 users moving to 16000 by next year.
We will be switching to 2x 1.6ghz 64bit opteron boxes this year sometime as well.

  • Crystal Report Server - InfoView question

    Hi . I have a question on the Crystal Report Server. I want to send the output ( excel file ) from a crystal report in Infoview. I tried to click the 'Send To' button, but it only sends out the .rpt file. Please help...

    Hi,
    If you schedule the report you will have output file options for Excel, PDF, Word...
    You should probably have  an Export option on your viewer as well - Excel should appear in this. (You need to have permissions to see this)
    Regards
    Alan
    PS: This should be posted to the BO General or Crystal Reports forums.

  • Report server config question

    We have Application Server (LINUX) ,In formwebconfig it refers to default.env or development.env depanding on the configration passed.
    But as I can just run on report server on the application server, In the configuration file rwbuilder.conf file
    <property name="sourceDir" value="your reports source directory">
    I can specify the source directory, where I will be storing my reports.
    Is there a way I can store REPORT_PATH in default.env Or development.env .
    If you want clarification , Let me know

    Hello,
    The variables defined in the envFile (default.env for example) are used only by the Forms runtime. The reports server is an other process that will not use the variables defined for the Forms runtime.
    A solution can be to define REPORTS_PATH in an environment section in the reports server configuration file and use in Forms the parameter envid to select the right environment :

  • Crystal Report Server Database question

    Hi,
    I am reading the installation guide for crystal report server.  It said a database is required for CMS.  It also mention about a database for auditing (optional).  I was wondering if they share one database or I have to create one for each?
    Thanks!

    Crystal Reports Server does not support auditing, unfortunately some of the admin guides for BOE and CRS are the same and this gets mistaken many times. If you want auditing then you must buy Business Objects Enterprise and then the previous post is accurate.

  • Creating OLAP report with Crystal Reports and SQL Server Analysis Services 2005

    Post Author: orahc_mao
    CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
    Hi!
    I am currently using the trial version of the Crystal Reports XI and I wanted to do an OLAP report. The problem is I cannot select a cube using "OLAP Connection Browser" (the popup window). I already selected Microsoft OLE DB Provider and entered the server name but still can't connect.
    I don't think the problem is with SQL Server Analysis Services (2005) since Microsoft Excel - Import Data can detect the server as well as the cube I have created.
    I also tried the "Database Expert" of Crystal Reports, created an OLE DB (ADO) connection with "OLE DB Provider for OLAP Services 8.0" driver, entered the server name, checked the integrated security and then I can readily select the database created at SQL Server Analysis Services. However, I still need the OLAP grid create the report but it goes back to my original problem... selecting a cube.
    I hope somebody would help me with this issue.
    Thanks a lot!

    Hello,
    I don't recognize those variables as CR ones so it's likely something the original developer is setting in code.
    You'll have to discuss with that person.
    If your have SDK issues then post your question to one of the .NET or Java SDK forums.
    Thank you

  • Proj Server 2010 Dashboard Designer Not Reporting Future Capacity

    With information from Project Server 2010 (PWA) and using Dashboard Designer I’ve designed a time-phased report (by month) to show past effort (Measure - Actual Regular Work) against capacity (Measure – Capacity) which displays accurate information.
    I’ve designed a similar report to show future planned work (Measure – Remaining Work) against capacity (Measure – Capacity).
    Planned work reports accurately but for some reason this report does not show future capacity.
    Resources in the pool have latest available dates.  Can someone please tell me what I need to do to report future capacity in Dashboard Designer?
    Thanks in advance!

    Resource Capacity Settings are set to:
    Months behind : 1
    Months ahead: 12
    The report uses Portfolio Analyzer Cube.
    The OLAP cube builds every 24 hours.  Database date range is “Use the earliest project start date and the latest project finish date”.
    Thank you for your help.

  • Problem deploying OLAP report to Crystal Reports Server

    I have developed a simple OLAP cube report using Crystal Reports Developer (11.0.0.1.1282). The report correctly previews and shows values against the cube that I have chosen as the datasource. The datasource is not my local computer but another computer (on the same network) that contains an Analysis Services 2005 cube. Crystal Reports Server (11.5) is installed on the same computer that contains the datasource.
    Using the CMS I uploaded the OLAP cube report to the server. After that was finished I changed the "When viewing report" radio button to "Use same database loging as when report run" in the Process/Database setcion. I logged into the InfoViewer and navigated to the report and executed it. When the report executes I get the following error:
    Crystal Reports: Print Engine Error
    Unable to retrieve Object.
    Crystal Reports: Print Engine Error
    I wanted to make sure that the server was running correcly as it is a fresh install. So I created a standard report that connects to a SQL Server 2005 datasource and displays the contents of a table. When I uploaded this report to the Crystal Report Server it rendered correctly.
    What do I need to do to make the OLAP cube report render correctly?

    I'm not sure about using OLAP with CR on the server, maybe someone else will have more input on that.
    When using OLAP on the server I recall that you must install PTS (it was like OLAP - ODBC) but it didn't require any config just to be installed on the server.
    You mentioned CR 11.0 what version is the server? I don't believe SQL 2005 analysis services was ever tested with XIR1 (version 11). You can check the supported platforms by clicking the business obejcts link above and selecting articles, then your version.
    Do you have olap intelligence? That was a seperate product on version 11 that was used to create .car reports off of OLAP.

  • Migrate from Crystal Report Server XI R2 to new Eclipse RAS SDK Question

    Hi,
    I am migrating Crystal Report Server XI R2 RAS SDK to Eclipse RAS SDK which seems to be quite easy.
    I have the following old code which basicly programmaticly creates a Report from scratch adds a Table and then
    populates the Report with a Pojo Collection.
    <br> <br>
    Now before I would have : <br>
    <br>
    Table oTable = new Table(); <br>
    oTable.setName("reportTable"); <br>
    pbConnAttributes.putStringValue("QE_DatabaseType", "Java Beans Connectivity"); <br>
    pbConnAttributes.putStringValue(PropertyBagHelper.CONNINFO_DATABASE_DLL, "crdb_javabeans.dll"); <br>
    PropertyBag pbLogonProperties = new PropertyBag(); <br>
    pbLogonProperties.putStringValue("Java Bean Classes", className); <br>
    pbLogonProperties.putStringValue("SSOKEY", ""); <br>
    pbConnAttributes.put("QE_LogonProperties", pbLogonProperties); <br>
      pbConnAttributes.putBooleanValue(PropertyBagHelper.CONNINFO_SSO_ENABLED, false); <br>
    oTable.getConnectionInfo().setKind(ConnectionInfoKind.CRQE); <br>
    oTable.getConnectionInfo().setUserName(""); <br>
      oTable.getConnectionInfo().setPassword(null); <br>
      oTable.getConnectionInfo().setAttributes(pbConnAttributes); <br>
    //following statement throws Exception <br>
    doc.getDatabaseController().addTable(oTable, null); <br>
    <br>
    getDatabaseController().setDataSource(pojoCollection, pojoClass.class,"reportTable", "reportTable");
    <br>
    <br>
    Now wenn using the c <br>lient eclipse RAS SDK which pbConnAttributes should I use? <br>
    No matter which ones I choose I get a Bad Driver Exception or Named Exception. <br>
    Can anybody help?

    Hi Mikael,
    Since you're already on CR Server XI R2, you can use the Upgrade Management Tool to migrate all the content to CR Server 2013.
    Anwers to your questions:
    1) Yes, the Upgrade Management Tool does support this kind of migration
    2) It does seem that the UMT allows you to move all report instances as well as the scheduled jobs over to the new server
    3) I've always had issues with Business Views when using Import Wizard however I'm not sure whether they work well with the new UMT. In any case, I always prefer to export the LOVs and BVs from within the Business View Manager to a .xml file and then import them in the higher version of the Server, again, from within the Business View Manager.

  • Crystal reports server 2008 VI questions

    I aplogixze if I am asking many questions in the same thread. If so please let me know. and I'll create seperate threads.
    Questions with Crystal reports server 2008 VI
    1. In my current VS2005 web application with CR 2008 developer I have done the following :
    a. When the user selects a report it prompts for the database that is needs to connect. User could select Test or Live database
    b. I could hide the export button for each report
    c. Add the same report twice to the same folder under diffrent report descriptions
    Could I do the same with Crystal reports server 2008 VI?
    2. I have added a report that connects to the SQL server and also I set up the required ODBC for the report on the server. I could run the report without any issue.
    When I add the same report to another folder in CMC or add a new report that uses the same connection, and try to run it, I get the following error.
    I did set location and verify database in Crystal designer many times and added the report into CMC, but still it gives me the error.
    However the first report that I added still works fine. For some reports it shows the parameter screen and when I enter them and click OK it gives the same error. I checked the logon information and they are correct. Reports work fine in Crystal designer.
    error message:
    "The database logon information for this report is either incomplete or incorrect"

    I assume that you have built your reports with the CR Designer 2008 V1. Try to open the affected report in the CR Designer and select Database->VErify database and save it back into the repository. Does it work?

  • Crystal Report Server / Business objects XI R2 questions

    Hello all,
    If this isn't the place to post these questions please advise which forum is. Thank you in advance.
    We are running XI R2 SP5 of Crystal Report server (11.5.11.1470). I have some general questions...and are fairly new to this version.  Although I have been developing CR for many years.
    There is plenty of discussions here about "Universes" in BO, but for my deployment I don't think this applies. Correct?
    I have created list of values (LOV) using Business View Manager (11.5.11.1470) and would like to
    1. give the user an ability to select an "ALL" option in the report.
    2. If the LOV is large, it only returns a partial list.
    Now i have search these forums and other and found discussions regarding the above but none seemed to relate to my version.  Either I'm missing some component or just slow.
    Any advice / help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Hi Suresh
    Thank you for the detailed response.  I tried your suggestions and neither works.
    LOV issue:
    Within the Business View manager, i right-click on the LOV object and click "Edit List of Values..." and i get a dialog box that only shows me Available fields, List of Value Fields used, description field, and Referenced objects. Along with buttons for Clear Instance & Refersh Status.
    I have read similar posts to what you suggested but never get to the same place as described.
    Please advise....
    as for _Max Number LOV _
    I have researched this as well and found the same suggestion you made. But the PRM file does not have that value, and the file contains all XML code
    Now what???
    Thanks

  • A simple Report Server question!!

    Hi there,
    I have recently installed 9iDS; as to start publishing my reports to the web, none of the following works:
    http://myhost:port/reports/
    http://myhost:port/reports/rwservlet/showenv
    http://myhost:port/reports/rwservlet/showjobs
    they all give me the same result:
    an empty browser window and an empty "smart agent"window too!!
    I have already started the OC4J instance and I have my "default-web-site.xml" file modified as the following:
    <web-site host="myhost" port="8888" protocol="http"
    display-name="Oracle9iDS instance of Oracle9iAS Containers for J2EE Web Site">
    my question is:
    Does Report Server ship with 9iDS? or do I have to install an application server(9iAS i.e) to use Report Server???
    appreciating ur cooperation.. Mourad

    1)i think rwservlet is not there in ids - only in ias
    2) Does Report Server ship with 9iDS? or do I have to install an application server(9iAS i.e) to use Report Server???
    look for rwserver.exe in oh/bin.
    for production applications "yes", u need a iAS license to deploy over web

  • Question on Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1

    Hi,
    Some questions on V1:
    1. Based on the blog /people/blair.wheadon/blog/2009/09/04/crystal-reports-server-2008-v1-now-available, it looks like CRS 2008 V1 should be available now, is this correct?
    2. If so, will it be available as a free upgrade to CRS 2008 (V0)? Where can I download it?
    3. I assume it will provide all the .NET API listed in http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/sdklibrary?
    Thanks

    Hi Sue,
    I am not sure if it is available and I see according to Blair's blog that it should be.

  • Pre-Purchase Question - Deploying Crystal Report to SSRS Report Server

    Our company has recently installed a SQL 2005 server for our accounting system.  I had intended going down the path of using SQL Reporting Services as our reporting tool and deploying them to the builtin Report Server.  However, I've been using Crystal Reports for years and find it much more user friendly for a non-programmer to use.  I can actually write a report in Crystal, SSRS took me 3 days to achieve very little, I believe it requires too much SQL reporting knowledge for a beginner.
    After spending many hours trawling the net looking for a solution to this problem, I found that Crystal comes as part of Visual Studio.  However, I also believe the version of Visual Studio that comes with SQL2005 is the basic version, and I'd need the Pro version to get the Crystal add on.
    To this end, I've downloaded the trial version of Crystal 2008 and installed it.  I find I can write a report in Crystal, and then I can manually add that report to a SSRS project. When I open the Crystal Report within Visual Studio I can see all the correct Crystal toolbars and menus etc, so it would appear that the installation of Crystal for Visual Studio has integrated properly.  I can then deploy that report to the Report server and see the report on the web page.  However clicking to open the report then opens the full Crystal Reports application, instead of just displaying the report in the web page.
    I've been unsuccessful in finding a solution to the above deployment problem.  I'm seeking a solution so that my users can just see the report without Crystal itself opening up.  I've been advised that there is a Crystal Report Server that I can purchase, but I don't wish to go to that expense when we already have this functionality built into our SSRS server.
    Can you please advise if it's possible to deploy the Crystal report to the SSRS Report Server and then open the report within the web page without opening the full Crystal app, and if so what steps I would need to take to implement this.
    If this issue can be resolved, I'll be more than happy to purchase the full Crystal 2008 package and forget SSRS as a bad idea.
    Sorry to be so long winded, I wanted to be clear what the issue is.  Any information /advice would be very much appreciated.

    Hello Diane,
    I would not know if Crystal Report can be used with SSRS but I know for sure that you can use the embedded Crystal Reports Version with comes with VS 2005 or VS 2008 to create reports and to display them in web and windows application.
    We have lots of samples how to do this in our [dev community|https://boc.sdn.sap.com/].
    Also, you can use [Crystal Reports 2008|https://boc.sdn.sap.com/developer/library/CR2008SDK] with MS SQL 2005.
    Other products like Crystal Reports server can also use MS SQL 2005.
    Please see our [supported platforms for CR 2008|http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000712280&_OBJECT=011000358700000675322008E] on windows.
    Hope this helps

  • Crystal Reports Server XI - webpage look, code question

    Hi!
    I wanted to increase the height of the 1st row (ROWS=57) in the frame of the Central Management Console Login page and the Central Management Console page itself. This should be the top frame with the file "gradient.gif" as background.
    URL:
    http://[server]/businessobjects/enterprise115/admin/de/admin.cwr
    Webpage Source Code part:
    <FRAMESET id="initial_frameset" FRAMEBORDER="yes" ROWS="57,*">

        <frame name="target_frame" src="/businessobjects/enterprise115/admin/de/admin.cwr?draw=logon" MARGINHEIGHT=0 MARGINWIDTH=0 noresize>

    However I couldn't find the file that contains this "rows=57" information. Is this "height" calculated somewhere and can it be changed?

    Hello Marco,
    I recommend to post this query to the [.NET Development - BusinessObjects Enterprise forum|.NET SDK Application Development;.
    This forum is dedicated to development and deployment of .Net applications that connect and interact with BusinessObjects Enterprise, BusinessObjects Edge, or Crystal Reports Server. This includes the development of applications using the BusinessObjects Enterprise, Report Application Server, Report Engine, and Web Services SDKs.
    It is monitored by qualified technicians and you will get a faster response there.
    Also, all BOE - .NET Development  queries remain in one place and thus can be easily searched in one place.
