9iR2: User can't browse ora_home

Dear Experts,
I installed oracle 9iR2 on my machine (W2K) logged as admin. Then I created a User (no specific rights) on this machine. I logged on with this user and I can't browse the D:\Oracle\ora92.
I didn't have this issue with 8i. Is there any reason why I have to grant this User Read-Execute ACL to my oracle home in 9i ? Something I missed during the installation ?

Oracle should not require privileges to access its own folders, but in case you want pretend to login as a different user and still have access, you should consider the NTFS file system for Windows offers several accessibility features that help administrators maintain and safeguard applications and data. Although you can somewhat control access to shared network folders by managing share permissions, Windows NTFS provides a very robust access control solution. In addition to offering administrators more granularity of security access control over files and folders than network share permissions, NTFS permissions reside at the file system level, which allows administrators to manage only one set of access control settings for both network users and local users.
For troubleshooting resource access, you can enable auditing for folders and files residing on NTFS volumes.

Yes it is possible.
In addition to syncronizing users (for example with an Active Directory) there is also the possibility to use a self-registration scenario.
If you could explain the context (e.g. ESS, Internet facing Webshop, Portal, internal ITS) then we will be able to give you better advise. Your question is very vague.

"Apple users are particularly vulnerable, as their devices do not have a function that lets users delete super cookies from their browsers.
Most websites place what’s called a “cookie” on visitors’ computers, which is used to track them and record their preferences. It’s how websites can remember your password, for example. Like your web browsing history, they’re easy to delete. If you use your browser’s “private browsing” mode they’re never saved in the first place — and advertisers can't track you, and other computer users can't go back and see what you looked at.
However, a flaw in a modern web security feature called “HTTP Strict Transport Security” (HSTS) allows websites to plant “super cookies” that can be used to track web users’ browsing habits even when private browsing is enabled.
Here’s how it works.
Security researcher Sam Greenhalgh writes that HSTS “allows a website to indicate that it should aways be accessed using a secure connection that encrypts your communication with the site.” This “flag” is then saved by your web browser, ensuring that any future visits to the website are secure. Hi all,
I tried this with IOS 7.1.2 Safari on an iPad retina and the super cookie did not persist after web data and history was deleted.
I also tried this with IOS 8.1.2 Safari on an iPhone 6, and the super cookie persisted even after deleting web history and website data.
Evidently it was ok on 7.1.2 and broken on 8.1.2.

My new users can not upload files via browse

When my recent created users can not download files via the browse within the Internet interface.
When I hit the via browse I face the following:
500 Internal Server Error

These are the ACL's of IFS:
PRIVATE Grants no permissions to any other user. Other users cannot view, modify, or delete a user’s document in any way, unless changed by the owner.
PROTECTED For folders only. Enables other users to see the files in the folder, add documents and folders to the folder, and remove documents and folders they have created from the folder, but are not allowed to delete the folder itself.
PUBLIC Allows full access to the item. All users can make any changes that the owner can make.
PUBLISHED Allows other users to view the contents, but they are not allowed to modify or delete the document.
If you attach the ACL Public it must work!

Help PC users can't open my iwebsite-is this a browser problem?

I created a password secured page with 3 films for a jury to vote on. All PC users can't open the page. They do not get access to the server.
The window to open the page with the username and password does not even pop up.
All Mac users have been able to access the site.
Is this a browser problem? Is there a problem with Internet Explorer?

User Can Browse Network Server But Not Access Share

I have a client computer that can access shares on a network, however on server the user cannot access a specific shared folder.
Client is Windows 7 joined to domain
Client can access shares on other servers and other shared folders on the problem server
I have checked effective permissions for the user and they have modify permission on the folder/subfolders
Share is Everyone - FC
Have explicitly added user to share with FC permissions as well.
Server is 2012.
The error I am getting is The Specified Network Name is No Longer Available
Other users do not have this issue.
User can access share from another client.

Hi Makson,
OAM's Identity Server binds to OID as a single user* (typically an OID admin, even orcladmin) and applies only those acl's that have been defined within OAM. So when you login to OAM as end-user X, the Identity Server (eg orcladmin) checks to see what rights within OAM have been defined for User X - but in this scenario any rights defined within OID are not applied to user X. By default, OAM end-users have no access to information in ldap (although the OAM Admins have full access by default).

Transaction SITSPMON/SMICM are not working in R/3 system as it is 46D.
We found that parameter u201Clogin/disable_multi_gui_loginu201D works with SAPgui logons.
System logons using the Internet Transaction Server (ITS) or Remote Function Call (RFC) are not affected by this Parameter u201Clogin/disable_multi_gui_loginu201D
I need similar parameter u201Clogin/disable_multi_gui_loginu201D for the ITS users.

2 users can't login - HTTP Status 500 - on Teaming 2.0

I have 2 user that can't login to Teaming 2.0. They get this error: "HTTP Status 500". Even if I enter a bogus password for them the "HTTP Status 500" error occurs. I use LDAP authentication to eDirectory. These users DON'T have duplicate objects in my tree. In eDirectory they have first name, last name, full name, phone number and email address entries. All other users can login. Where are the Apache Tomcat/6.0.18 logs on a SLES 10 install of Teaming 2.0? There are log files in /opt/novell/teaming/

You need to be sure that it is not an LDAP problem... the best way is to start from LDAP to investigate. Enable the LDAP trace on eDir with imonitor, during the teaming login. Also you can use ldapsearch to have full details on the accounts in order to compare them with a working user (a space somewhere, an additional attribute, etc...).

    First, I can say that your project involves many things, I cannot describe all features in the forum, and I'm not used with GPRS modems (my modems are base band serial modems...).
    Anyway, I would say that in your project you should proceed like this:
      1) Configure your FP 2000 module via MAX and ethernet connection;
      2) Download an embedded application to your module (build in LabView Real-Time)
      3) In your application, you should build a kind of serial port manager, and by the means of serial port you send/receive commands from PC.
    The commands from PC can include "Tell me the about the FP 2000 file system ", or "switch on line X", or anything you need.
   I think it would be difficult to use Internet exp, because you use IE with TCP/IP, and TCP/IP is over ethernet.
   I know that for Windows you can find some wrappers that make you "see" the serial port as an ethernet, but these wrapper do not exist under filed Point, and you shoul build one yourself!!!(and that's not easy).
    For example, to browse your files, you should build a VI that searches through your file system, and reports, via serial, the files present in a directory (it's an example....).
    About communication between GPRS modems and FP2000, I know nothing. I suppose that these modems accept serial inputs, so you'll have to configure your serial port on FP 2000 with the correct baud rate, parity, and so on..... and you send your data to the modem. The modem will transfer data in its way, no matter on how it does.
    To send data to your modem you shoud take a look to some Serial communication examples. What I suggest you, first, is to connect the serial port of FP2000 to a PC, and test communication between PC and FP2000, without modems. Just direct cable connection! If you're able to do this, insertion of modems is the next step, and should be quite easy. If you're not able to make the PC receive strings of data from FP2000, over RS232, adding modems is a further complication, and you won't come out of this mess!
   So, what I say, is just build, for now, a simple embedded application for FP2000, that, using RS232, sends data to a PC (you should see data sent with use of Hyper terminal).
    To build this application, use Instrument I/O --> VISA commands (VISA open, VISA write, and Property node should be enough, for now).

If you have a separate FTP client, you could use that (link: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.6.3/win32/en-US/ )
If you have email on the machine, have a friend email you the installer file.
Else you'd have to use an external storage device (USB drive, external hard disk or some such).

Is there a program any user can recommend similar to Mcafee shredder?

I have recently moved from Windows (and yes I miss Windows a lot) but also love my new MacBook Pro
I read that it's best to stick with ClamXav for routinue checks.
But is there a similar program to Mcafee Shredder that any Mac user can recommend? As I found that to be a very useful piece of software.
And yes I am aware that I can securely delete my trash but I would like to know if there's an alternative.

1: Dont install Java, but if you or a program does, make sure it's turned off in all browsers preferences.
2: Your going to need Flash most likely, however use Firefox instead of Safari as it's better at protecting with more frequent updates than Safari. 4: Biggest malware vectors on all computers, browser iFrames and advertising (NoScript, check block iFrames and Ad Block Plus can assist)
5: Biggest malware vector on OS X, trojans (trust the source of outside software) and vulnerable plugins (Java and Flash mainly) next followed by Safari and iTunes, also Chrome. Because they are based upon Webkit which is been a large problem for many vulnerabilities.
6: Apple is notoriously slow to update for security vulnerabilites everwhere, OS X and all their programs, and takes two months to update programs like Opera in App Store. So don't trust AppStore for timely updates or it's software for anything that could compromise your security or your machines.
Mac's are now a target for malware, has been attacked (Flashback botnet trojan) and Apple has been a little bit slow to get up to speed and attention to them, they still don't have monthly security patches, rather waiting a average of 90 days.
