A automated script to add new files?

Hi,
I'm setting up some file operations to happen in the background on my computer using GoodSync and Pogoplug. This will mean there are always new movies being copied onto my drive from a media server at home.
Can anyone advise me how to build an AppleScript or of a program that will automatically add video files into iTunes when they come into a particular folder?
Will Videodrive do this?

Just add the files to the /Music/iTunes/Automatically add to iTunes folder.
No AppleScript (or anything else)  is needed.

  • To add new file type in SharePoint

    Hi,
I am trying to add new file type for sharepoint site like MSWord, PDF etc.,
Are there any ways to create new file types in SharePoint? My requirement is to create a file type for AutoCAD drawings (.dwg format).
Please note, we are using SharePoint 2007 version!
    Thanks

Browse to the Central Admin site
    Select the Operations tab
Under the Security Configuration section, click the link for
    Blocked file types
Select the Web Application that you would like to modify from the drop down list
Each blocked file extension displayed in the list is blocked by SharePoint.  To enable the blocked file extension, simply remove it from the list.
Check with your type and if its there unblock it.

I don't think there is any trick yet available. But there are 2-3 applications that play AVI media files.

  • Possible? To add new file types to Bridge?

When a file isn't listed in the file type list in the preferences, then Bridge (in Vista) doesn't allow me any changes for the "open with" function. It seems that I MUST live with Bridge's own handling for this file, even when it is false. (e.g. I already posted that Bridge falsely opens MindManager files using Safari)
From other management software I know that it is sometimes possible, to manually add new file types to the preferences, e.g. editing an ASCII/txt file where they are listed. This is less elegant, but I would do it, if no other choice. Is there such a file in Bridge? Or do you know an other way to add new file types?
    Thanks, Michael

    Hi,
You can not extend Oracle Data Mining to have your own algorithm.
However, you can integrate mining implementations within the DB via SQL, PL/SQL among others.

  • How to automatically add new files to external iTunes Media Library

I have an external hard drive that I store all of my music on and have set as my iTunes media file location. When I connect it, I open iTunes and can play all of my songs off of the hard drive with no problem. But many times I do not have my external hard drive plugged in when I purchase and add new files onto iTunes. Because of this, even though I have my preferences set to automatically add new iTunes files to the external media folder, when I connect my hard drive, the files will not be on the hard drive's media folder and they will not immediately transfer over to the hard drive, and I will then have to add them manually. Is there a setting that I can use that will set all new or recently added files on my iTunes to be transferred over to my external hard drive once it is connected? Or maybe a command that compares my iTunes with my external media file folder and transfers all new media over to my external folder? Any help would be appreciated.

Well I actually found something that was fairly close to what I was looking for. If you right click a file or selection of files then click the option 'consolidate files' you can copy them to the media library. I guess I'll just have to filter my recently added playlist by the right amount of time then use the consolidate option. I still think that making a feature that automatically copys newly added files to the external media folder once it is connected would be a very worthwile investment in Apple's time

  • Add New Files To iTunes Library

Is it possible to set up a folder in the finder so that when new audio files are placed inside (either copied, created or downloaded), they will automaticly be added to the iTunes library? Is there a folder action or applescript I'm missing or something? Or another way?
    Thanks in advance.

I've created a folder action for a folder (called it 'iTunes dropbox') on the desktop to do so.
This is how I've set it up:
    • Create a new folder (on the desktop or whatever location)
    • Run Automator
    • Select 'Finder' in the Library (left) pane, then select 'Get Specified Finder Items' from the Action (middle) pane and drag it to the right pane.
    • Select 'iTunes' in the Library, select 'Add Files to Playlist' and drag it below the 'Get Specified Finder Items' action in the right pane.
You can choose to add the file to the Library only, or also to an existing or new playlist.
    • To save this workflow as an folder action, choose 'Save As Plug-in...' from the file menu.
    • Choose an appropriate name (e.g. 'tunetolib').
    • At 'Plug-in for:', choose 'Folder Actions'
    • At 'Attached to Folder:', choose 'Other...' and navigate to the folder you created before.
    • If you did not enable folder actions already, tick a checkbox that says so. If you already enabled it, you won't see this option.
    • Click 'Save'
Now it's time to test the 'dropbox'.
Just drop an AAC, Apple Lossless, AIFF, WAV or mp3 file in the folder and if the exact file does not already exist in iTunes, it will be (should be) added to the library.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can you add new file extensions to be treated as C source?

Hi, using Sun Studio 9, is it possible to add a new file extension to those treated as C sources? I can see how to do it for header files (Options -> IDE Configuration -> System -> Object Types -> C and C++ Header Data Objects -> Extensions and MIME types) but this option is not available for C files.
In case anyone's wondering why you'd want to do this: we use .pc extensions for C files containing embedded SQL statements. It's then pretty simple to make a .pc.c rule in makefiles to run the pre-compiler.

    >What do you mean Sandee?<br /><br />Robert,<br /><br />Sandee's comment did come across as a bit strong, eh. InDesign is better than Quark  for the most part. (Hey,even Quark has it's good points. <g>) But they are different and preconceptions of how to do certain things can hinder a user from using the program to it's best advantage. This goes both ways, but long time Quark users will almost certainly have developed some bad habits that should be broken if using InDesign. [check out theInDesigner.com podcasts. the first few are audio only but the first one in particular deals with this idea, and others reinforce it with specifics.]<br /><br />Your concern about Quark Project files does not fit into this catagory though. You will not find a comparable feature in ID. But I don't think you'll miss it as much as you think.<br /><br />I can't answer your questions about Bridge and Version Cue. I have no experience with them. [there are videocasts on Adobe TV that may give you an idea of how useful Bridge can be. Cafe Fibonacci Ep1, touches on it, Lazy Designer has a couple of episodes that show some not so obvious features.] Essentially Bridge is a common repository for all your files, and that can include your colleagues. But it's more than a way to catalogue and codify your files, you can access the rest of the suite from Bridge, you can even access specific functions of the other applications directly within Bridge.<br /><br />Version Cue manages projects. It keeps track of who did what to where and what version is current. It also allows you to submit different versions for consideration and revert specific items of your layout to previous versions  or is that Bridge? Hopefully someone with a better grasp of Bridge and Version Cue will come to your rescue. But it's obvious that there is a lot of work group functionality built in to CS.

  • Cannot add new files to iTunes library.

My itunes library is run through my external hard drive. This hasn't been a problem, but now iTunes will not let me add new music files to my library. How do I fix that?

Ditto. To compound the problem, I upgraded to Mountain Lion. I was trying to import videos and iTunes 10.6.3 starts, then the spinning wheel of death comes up about 1/2 way thru. After a couple hard boots to get the system back, I tried with a simple MP3 file. Tried ADD TO LIBRARY and drag and drop - Nothing.

  • Using Automator to Copy Only New Files to a Destination Folder

    Hello,
I need an AppleScript to copy a source directory (including all subfolders and files) to a destination folder, but one that checks for duplicate files and only copies files across from the source directory if they aren't already contained in the destination directory.
I have a script that checks the files, but it only copies files from the source directory and ignores all subfolders and the files within those.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

You can create a Service workflow to get the folder(s).  The workflow would consist of actions to save the input items to a vatiable (so they can be refiltered), then get the input items, apply a filter, and move the resulting items - for example:
Service receives selected folders in Finder
    Get Folder Contents
    Set Value of Variable { Variable: Original Items }
    Filter Finder Items { Find files where: kind is music }
    Move Finder Items { To: Automatically Add to iTunes }
Get Value of Variable { Variable: Original Items } ( Ignore Input )
    Filter Finder Items { Find files where: kind is image }
    Move Finder Items { To: Album Artwork }
...repeat the Get/Filter/Move actions as needed for other filters
Thanks, the "Set Value of Variable" concept is what I was missing. It almost works. The music files get moved, but then it says the workflow encounters a problem and the image files aren't being moved. I'm assuming it's an issue with steps 5-7. Thoughts?

  • Creating AppleScript That Watches a Folder and Adds New Files to iTunes

Is it possible to create a AppleScript that watches a folder and automatically adds any new files placed into the folder to my iTunes library?

Probably. You can take a look through Doug's AppleScripts for iTunes and see if there's anything pre-existing you could use or modify.
An alternative might be Hazel which says it can do that. It's not free, but if it works it would probably be a lot easier.

  • How to add new file associations/

How do I fix this below?
    - Safari refuses to open csv files in excel -- instead when I click on a csv file from a website, it gives me a bunch of text. And when I try to save it to my desktop, it appends ".txt" to the end of the file name.
    - How can I add/change file associations on mac using terminal?

    Hi,
Here are two methods for you.
    1. CSV file is 'comma separated values' in text file and so by default it will be saved as a .txt file. However while saving it onto the desktop you can choose .xls format in the drop down that specifies the format. Then try to open the file in Excel.
    2. Right click on one of the text files stored and open it with the Excel. Then right click on the file name and go to 'Get Info'. From the get info window, change the file extension and under the open with drop down select Excel.
If these two options are not working then probably the file cannot be imported to Excel or Excel is not installed.
    Hope this helps you........... Regards

  • Can't Add New Files

Went to open a new file and the program will not let me start a new file either from the drop down menu or the plus at the bottom of the screen, they are both grayed out. It won't even let me open existing files. Spoke to a Genius and said there is a patch out, but can't find it. Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. That's a common issue. One solution is to open iPhoto, select a couple of photos and click on the iWeb button at the bottom of the window. If may take several attempts before waking up the menus in iWeb.
What version of iWeb are you using? I've not hear of any patch other than the update to 1.1.2, the latest version. But the menu issue is still there at time with that version.

  • Tablespace getting full quite often [cannot extend tbs], need a script to add data files on reaching the threshold!!

    Good morning Techies,
I have a OBIEE environment where developers work on continuous data loads and the tablespaces are filled up quite often throwing cannot extend.
I have a request from the customer to generate some script or automatic adding up of datafiles.
Can someone here help with the ways of automizing or easing this situation through some script where it ask the users for the path and DB file size etc and creates a datafile with the inputs.
Or advise any other ways to handle the situation.
    Regards,
    RanG

Oracle does not but you can write your own job to execute when you reach certain threshold. You can also do this in a GRID so whenever the metric threshold reached, it executes your procedure. Make sure you check your file system space before adding a datafile.
With BIGFILE tablespace, you might need to change your backup policies.
    Check these link as well:
