A - B editing Setting up

Hi I was told that I could use A- B editing with Premiere pro cs6  which I have purchased, installed & have it working great but can not find any information on how to do A-B editing, which is why I bought the product. HELP please

Just saw the request for syncing tips. Depending on the footage, I can use a visual cue or audio.
For video, I will watch for something unique, like a photo flash, or someone touches their hand to their head, or even someone's footsteps, if I can see the same thing in both cameras. I will find the same frame in both clips and Razor cut at that point then slide the clips over to line up together. After lining them up, I can then grab the cut end and restore the rest of the clip that had been cut.
For audio, just open up the audio waveforms and drag the tracks down to make them larger, and of course zoom in as needed to see more detail in the waveform (+ sign on keyboard) then I just match the waveforms between the two clips!
You'll usually find that the two waveforms may not match exactly, because the editing accuracy is limited to the frame rate, such as 1/30 of a second. So the peak on one clip might be right on the frame marker, but the other one falls somewhere in between and if you try to move one way or the other, it is early or late then! What you can do is right-click the clip and Unlink audio from video, then there is a little dropdown menu at top right of Sequence window, and there select "Audio Time Units". This changes the accuracy of the timeline from 1/30 to 1/48000 to match the audio sample rate! Now you can zoom in further and then move the audio clip independently of the video in very tiny increments to exactly match the other audio clip. So if using both audio clips in the final mix, you don't end up with an annoying echo. I recommend moving the audio on the wider camera, leaving the close-up camera's audio synced to video for best lip-sync obviously.
Once audio is adjusted, then disable Audio Time Units for editing the video again using frames.
Thanks

  • VeI have edit set in iphoto to use in photoshop. When i save in photoshop the photo returns as the original and not the edited rsion.

I have edit set in iphoto to use in photoshop element 9.
When i save the edited photo in photoshop it returns to iphoto as the original and not the edited version.

Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 9 the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
Note:  to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu.

  • PE12 does not default to last project video edit setting

My PE12 video edit setting is defaulting to HD1080i25 (UK region default). I need AVCHD1080p50.
I have set a new project to AVCHD1080p50 and saved. Exit PE12 then re-start. It still creates new project at 1080i25.
The documentation says PE12 should remember the last used setting.
    What is going wrong?
    thanks
    Audrie

    Audrie
Allow me to go over some details to make sure that your details are not being misinterpreted by me or anyone else here.
    1. You open a new project in Premiere Elements 12 and you want to edit your 1080p50 video in it. Who is setting the project preset, you or the program?
    a. If you, are you using File Menu/New/Project Change Settings and Changing the project preset = PAL AVCHD AVCHD 1080p50, making sure that you have a check mark next to "Force Selected Project Setting on This Project" before you leave that area. Then, when you are back in the Expert workspace, are you using Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets for the 1080p50 import.
    or
    b. If the program, are you first using Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets from where you drag your 1080p50 to the Timeline? If this is the case, have you determined what the program has selected for the project preset based on the properties of the first drag to the Timeline? (See Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and the readings for Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Rate, and Pixel Aspect Ratio, even if those fields look grayed out.
The program does not always give the correct project preset. When it does not, it does not give you the closest to what you have. It gives its default, which is in your case, PAL AVCHD Full HD1080p25.
Now here is the question...are you saying that, after you save close reopen your program, you discover somehow that you project is 1080p25 instead of 1080p50. If so, how are you making that determination at that time. Once the project preset is set by you or the program for a project, that project maintains that project preset for that particular project.
So when you point to documentation that says
The documentation says PE12 should remember the last used setting.
Please give a link to such documentation. Premiere Elements 12 cannot even remember workspace in the dual monitor set up when the same project is saved closed reopened.
A new project will always open to NTSC AVCHD Full 1080i30 or its PAL counterpart. After that
    a. You set the project preset based on the properties you know for your source.
    or
    b. The program sets the project preset based on the first drag of the source to the Timeline (if it cannot, then your project preset is for NTSC or PAL AVCHD Full 1080i30.

  • Annoying new Finder file name editing setting

This is new in Leopard and it is beginning to annoy me very much. It happens when editing file names in a sub-folder view – the one where the expand arrow is expanded.
When editing a long file name I am used to using the arrow keys (up places the insertion point at the beginning; down places it at the end; left and right move it left and right). Hold down the left arrow key to get to the middle of the text quickly and the sub-folder closes. Previous to Leopard the command key+left arrow did this, not just the arrow on it's own. This means that you either have to use to mouse to click where you want to edit, or press the left arrow key multiple.
I have the key repeat rate set to high so the insertion point moves quickly.
    Has anyone else seen this?

Yes, it's a bug. Please report it to the link below - the more the merrier:

On the bright side, at least they finally fixed Option-Right Arrow for disclosure triangles.

  • Help putting together a simple portable editing set-up

I have a MacBookPro at 2.16, with 512 of video memory and 1 GIG ram. I would like to purchase Final Cut Express, an external hard drive, etc, to do some basic Mini DV editing - nothing huge - perhaps short 5 - 10 minute films. Questions:
    1. Is 1 GIG of ram enough? Should I upgrade to 2GIG?
    2. Will a portable LaCie drive (say 100-200 GIG) work off the firewire 400 or USB 2 port without dropping frames? Are there any specs to look for in a drive?
    3. The external drive is for source media. I am guessing I should not have source media on the internal drive along with the editing program. Correct?
    4. Using a deck or camera to go out to a TV. Is this the best, cheapest way to view output?
    - Any help, or other adivce, would be greatly apprecaited. Thanks - Rob

As Ian said, USB speed is a theoretical maximum of short-term peak speeds.
Among the many complex reasons USB and Firewire are different, USB carries all data & control signals over 1 twisted pair of wires in the cable and has to leave a timing gap (margin) between data & control packets; as a consequence data packets can get delayed and this is especially problematic where the data must be streamed as in video. FireWire, on the other hand, separates data and clock onto 2 different twisted pairs in the cable and therefore the data & clock signals don't have to share the bandwidth of a single pair of wires.
Also, in the G5, the USB controller runs off the 33MHz PCI bus but the FireWire controller is directly connected to the high speed Shasta I/O controller; and this probably makes for some additional differences in the total throughput especially under streaming conditions. The Macbook Pro is of course an Intel design and may be different in this area.
As you can see, it's a combination of very complex hardware & software design issues that make FireWire much more capable of handling video requirements.

  • Editing (Setting and Removing) CLASSPATH on Snow Leopard

I am trying to learn XSLT, and so I am installing Xerces and Xalan - but I have to add certain .jar's to the classpath. This is extremely easy on the PC, but how do I change this on the Mac? I would like to set it into an environment variable if possible? I have looked through so many similar questions on the Web but have yet to find a single solid answer. Your help is much appreciated. • SQL Query (updateable report) Region - Conditionally Hide and Set Values

SQL Query (updateable report) Region - Conditionally Hide and Set Values
    Outline of requirement :-
Master / Detail page with Detail updated on same page using SQL Query (updateable report).
The detail region has the following source
    SELECT item_id,
           contract_id,
CASE WHEN hardware_id IS NOT NULL THEN
                   'HA'
WHEN backup_dev_id IS NOT NULL THEN
                   'BD'
WHEN hardware_os_id IS NOT NULL THEN
                   'HS'
           END item_type,
           hardware_id,
           backup_dev_id,
           hardware_os_id
    FROM   "#OWNER#".support_items
WHERE  contract_id = :P26_CONTRACT_IDThe table support_items implements arced relationships and has the following columns
    CREATE TABLE SUPPORT_ITEMS
      ITEM_ID         NUMBER                        NOT NULL,
      CONTRACT_ID     NUMBER                        NOT NULL,
      HARDWARE_ID     NUMBER,
      BACKUP_DEV_ID   NUMBER,
      HARDWARE_OS_ID  NUMBER
)A check type constaint on support_items ensures that only one of the fk's is present.
          (    hardware_id    IS NOT NULL
           AND backup_dev_id  IS NULL
           AND hardware_os_id IS NULL
    OR    (    hardware_id    IS NULL
           AND backup_dev_id  IS NOT NULL
           AND hardware_os_id IS NULL
    OR    (    hardware_id    IS NULL
           AND backup_dev_id  IS NULL
           AND hardware_os_id IS NOT NULL
          )    Hardware_Id is a FK to Hardware_Assets
    Backup_dev_id is a FK to Backup_Devices
    Hardware_os_id is a FK to Hardware_op_systems
The Tabular Form Element based on item_type column of SQL query is Displayed As Select List (based on LOV) referencing a named list of values which have the following properties
    Display Value     Return Value
    Hardware Asset    HA
    Backup Device     BD
Computer System   HSThe Tabular Form Elements for the report attributes for hardware_id, backup_dev_id and hardware_os_id are all Displayed As Select List (Based on LOV).
What I want to do is only display the Select List for the FK depending on the value of the Select List on Item Type, e.g.
Item_Type is 'HA' then display Select List for hardware_id, do not display and set to NULL the Select Lists for backup_dev_id and hardware_os_id.
Item_Type is 'BB' then display Select List for backup_dev_id, do not display and set to NULL the Select Lists for hardware_id and hardware_os_id.
Item_Type is 'HS' then display Select List for hardware_os_id, do not display and set to NULL the Select Lists backup_dev_id and hardware_id.
There are properties on elements to conditionally display it but how do we reference the values of the SQL query Updateable region? they are not given a page item name?
Also on the Tabular For Elements there is an Edit tick against a report item - however when you go to the Column Attributes there is not a property with which you can control the Edit setting.
What's the best way of implementing this requirement in APEX 3.1?
    Thanks.

Welcome to the forum: please read the FAQ and forum sticky threads (if you haven't done so already), and update your profile with a real handle instead of "user13515136".
When you have a problem you'll get a faster, more effective response by including as much relevant information as possible upfront. This should include:
    <li>Full APEX version
    <li>Full DB/version/edition/host OS
<li>Web server architecture (EPG, OHS or APEX listener/host OS)
    <li>Browser(s) and version(s) used
    <li>Theme
    <li>Template(s)
<li>Region/item type(s) (making particular distinction as to whether a "report" is a standard report, an interactive report, or in fact an "updateable report" (i.e. a tabular form)
With APEX we're also fortunate to have a great resource in apex.oracle.com where we can reproduce and share problems. Reproducing things there is the best way to troubleshoot most issues, especially those relating to layout and visual formatting. If you expect a detailed answer then it's appropriate for you to take on a significant part of the effort by getting as far as possible with an example of the problem on apex.oracle.com before asking for assistance with specific issues, which we can then see at first hand.
I have a multi-row region that displays values and allows entries in a number of fields.Provide exact details of how this has been implemented. (An example on apex.oracle.com is always a good way to do this.)
I should like the fields to be conditional in that they do not permit entry, but still display, if certain conditions apply (e.g. older rows greyed out). Can this be done? Almost anything can be done, often in multiple ways. Which are appropriate may be dependent on a particular implementation, the skills available to implement it, and the effort you're willing to expend on it. Hence it's necessary to provide full details of what you've done so far...

  • How to make an assignment block with valuenode editable?

    Hello All,
I have read the blog [How to display a z-table in an assignment block|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/CRM/Howtodisplayaz-tableinanassignmentblock]. This all went fine. Now I have a question if it is possible to make this table editable and if so, how?
The problem is, it is valuenode for a custom z-table, without a GUID as key. (just partner number) So making a Simple Object of my z-table doesn't work, because the default class works with GUID as key. But I also can't seem to find if it is possible to make a valuenode editable.
I also read these blogs, but they didn't do the trick for me either:
[CRM Web UI Technical - Creating Table View In Web UI|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/sandbox/CRMWebUITechnical-CreatingTableViewInWebUI]
    [Create a Z BOL Object Part 1|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/sandbox/CRMWebUITechnical-CreatingTableViewInWebUI]
I am silently hoping that there is an easy way of making my current assignment block editable by implementing a simple Save method or something similar. I do not prefer to have to recreate my view and stuff.
    Anyone an idea?
    Regards,
    Martijn.

    Hi Martijn,
    Try this code..
If the main entity(assuming one order entity) is editable, set the view to editable.
DATA:      lr_entity       TYPE REF TO cl_crm_bol_entity.
      lr_entity ?= me->typed_context->btadminh->collection_wrapper->get_current( ).
      CHECK lr_entity IS BOUND.
      if lr_entity->lock( ) = abap_true.
        *me->view_group_context->set_view_editable( me ).*
      endif.
Check this therad for setting the view context.
    Edit the order
    Hope this helps..

  • Another "will this set-op be OK for CS5.5?" post.

This is yet another "is the computer I want good enough for CS5.5" question. Before I begin I'll ask you to please forgive my ignorance and the length of this post. I'm new to having to care about computer hardware. In the past any decent PC has met my needs, but I'm no longer finding that to be the case as I now have a need to edit video.
So I'll start with my particular needs. I need portability. I'm a student and direct a summer camp. In my role at camp I have identified the need to improve our camp promotional material, and that's where the video editing comes in. I'll be shooting and editing several promotional shorts and a couple of documentary style shorts using DSLR footage and perhaps a little camcorder or two. After much research, and playing around with some free trial software, I've settled on CS5.5, but there's only one problem, my computer just isn't up to the task. Conveniently enough, my current computer has seen better days and it's time to upgrade anyways, so I've been researching and shopping around trying to find an appropriate computer. As portability is a must, and I can't afford a decent desktop and a laptop (and even if I could always transferring data back and forth would be annoying), I've been looking at laptops. It seems like any off-the shelf laptop that is well suited to run adobe isn't really all that portable. Sure you can transport it a lot easier than a desktop, but you can't expect to get a full day of battery life out of it, nor is it a reasonable weight to carry all over creation (my point is that a 17" laptop is out). So I did a little digging, and after reading a lot of posts on this forum and a lot of information from other sources I think I've come up with a solution. I'm looking for input into potential problems any tech-savvy people see with my idea, and sales reps for dell aren't tech savvy, so I figured this was a good place to find out how well adobe would run on my proposed set-up (I'm not a pro, and won't be editing feature length films, so I don't think I need the same performance as a tricked out desktop, I just need it to perform well with as few hold ups as possible).
Here's what I've come up with:
         Dell XPS 14z:
Intel core i-7 2640M (2.8GHz, with "turbo boost" up to 3.50GHz)
8 GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM
750 GB SATA, 7200rpm  hard drive
Nvidia Geforce 520M 1GB graphics card
The only information on screen resolution I could find on the Dell web-site  was "true 720p HD display" after reading a few reviews, I found the specs were lower than the minimum recommended by Adobe, I forget exactly what they are though.
So this computer is more than I would ever need for my non-video editing needs. On paper it's a nice little laptop, a little pricey ($1300!), but they can be had at a very reasonable price ($700 - $800) refurbished from the Dell online outlet. None-the-less I can see several problems with this set-up.
First is the Display: it's inadequate. That's easily solved by using an external monitor, and you can get a pretty decent monitor off of tiger direct for less than $200. I can tolerate video editing at a desk, I need portability for other applications.
Second is the hard drive. From reading this forum I understand that editing with only one hard drive can slow things down quite a bit. I was wondering how big a deal this really is for the casual editor? There are adaptors that allow you to place a second hard drive where the optical drive is in this laptop. If it's necessary, I plan on putting a second 750GB 7200 rpm HDD where the optical drive is. Problem solved, right? Does anyone see any problems with this idea? My next question about the hard drive topic is: how much would a third hard drive really benefit me? And would data transfer using an external HDD with a USB 3.0 connection be fast enough to be a viable option for a third drive? Either way I could pick up an appropriate hard drive and caddy for a little under $175 and around $100 for an external HDD with USB 3.0 to be used as a third drive if necessary.
The third potential problem is the RAM. It seems there are a lot of opinions out there about how much is enough. Is 8 GB adequate? According to intel's web site this particular processor is compatible with up to 16GB of RAM, and after searching various forums I found a couple instances of people expanding their RAM on this computer to 16GB with no issues. I understand that I can replace the current 2x4GB set up with either 1x4GB + 1X8GB or 2x8GB to give either a total of 12 or 16GB of RAM. Is this necessary or even beneficial?  8GB would be more than enough for anything else I do, and since I have little experience with video editing I thought I'd ask those who know. Is a RAM upgrade necessary? Using this configuration I could update the RAM to 12 GB for around $100 and to 16 GB for around $200.
Finally, the graphics card that comes with this computer isn't on the list of cards recommended by Adobe. I understand that this is because it doesn't support CUDA, how much of an issue is this? Will I be able to efficiently edit video without a recommended card?
The point of all the numbers is this: 800+200+175+100=1,275. For $1275ish it seems to me I could get a very reasonable video editing set up that's still portable. That's less than the sticker price on these laptops, and a lot less than a mac book pro, which is everyone's first recommendation when I mention I want to use the computer for video editing. This seems like a very reasonable price for a laptop with an intel i7 2.8GHz, two 750GB 7200rpm HDD's, 12GB of RAM, and an external monitor for when I want to sit down and edit. Am I delusional in thinking this would run well using CS5.5?
So I guess the point is this. Life is about trade offs, and since I primarily need portability and I'm not a professional (just an anal consumer with high standards :), I'm willing to trade a little bit of video editing performance for the improved portability. I want the opinion of those who have experience using CS5.5 with various set-ups, does my proposed set-up seem like a reasonable trade-off? Are the upgrades even neccessary? Would they be enough to provide a reasonable editing experience? Any other advice (besides buying a desktop or a wicked expensive 17" laptop that weighs two to three times as much and chews through battery life)?
Thanks for sticking with this and giving me any feedback. It's appreciated!

    Benson,
    Glad the comments were helpful!
Regarding RAM, the following test results were mine from an old thread:
"...RAM size: increasing from 4GB to 8GB doubled the MPE GPU performance [11 sec. vs. 6 sec.] and improved the MPEG2-DVD performance [122 sec. vs. 91 sec.]; the other tests only improved marginally. Increasing from 8GB to 16GB made significant additional improvements to the MPEG2-DVD time [91 sec. vs. 37 sec.]; all other tests hardly changed at all". [Note that my testing, and current system, run 5.0.3, not 5.5, but I suspect that these results are still probably reasonable for your situation.]
Thread was: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3465135 (How changes to CPU speed, RAM size, and drives impacted my PPBM5 score)
Regarding graphics card RAM, either card would work just fine for you. User's that have a need for massive frame sizes might benefit from the 3GB model, but for normal HD work the 1.5 will be fine.
    Regards,
    Jim

  • A different version of the problem loading raw images edited in LR 3.3 to CS4

I have recently upgraded LR2 to LR3 (now up to 3.3). I have CS4 extended and ACR 5.7. Haven't printed for some months now because I have moved overseas (UK to Malaysia) until yesterday. The printing was a disaster because the colours printed are not as the finished print files. So I have been investigating (calibrated my monitor etc) and then I noticed any LR3 edited Nikon raw file when edited in CS4 carrying across the LR3 settings was so bad and very different to the LR3 version. The nice vibrant LR3 image was dull with inaccurate and toned down colours as though a piece of grey glass had been put in front of it.
So I have read as many of the forum questions on the related issue and have not found an answer or more to the point a solution. I run a MacPro with the latest Snow Leopard OS but all of the fixes I have tried don't change the problem. Is it a compatability problem or an error by me due to some obscure setting or something else? Never had the problem with LR2 and the same Photoshop CS4 software.
I also lost most of my LR2 edit setting for a good percdentage of the edited files when I upgarded to LR3. Don't know if this is related or another problem as now I have to redo all of the files that have lost their edited changes.
I would appreciate any help in solving this/these issues.

The question posted by me has not been answered and I am pulling my hair out trying to have my Lightroom/CS4 image processing work flow that has worked for nearly 2years back to normal.
I might as well not have lightroom as opening a lightroom 3.3 edited image in CS4 removes all of the editing done in lightroom. This appears to be true since I upgraded to v 3.3. As one person who posted in another theme suggested I tried saving a Tiff of the lightroom changes which I did via Nik Efex (I do not know how to save a raw file as a Tiff in LR as I don't do it as part of my normal workflow) but it reverted to the totally unedited version of the raw file when it opened in CS4.
Is there a problem with LR3.3 that Adobe are keeping quiet on. There was no warning when I picked uop the 'updated software' message when I opened LR a short while back. Now I am unable to use either as the processing route I use in LR is very fast compared to CS4 (in my view) and I do not have the time to completely change my work flow. I could revert back to LR3.2 but that may lose all of my editing and cause me no end of problems.
As this is an Adobe forum I thought these problems would be discussed with a lot more answers.

  • LR 4.3 doesn't create TIFF to edit in PS (CS6)

Apologies if this has already be covered but I am unable to find a solution.
LR 4.3   Imported images as DNG and am working with them in LR.
When I try to Edit in PS (CS6), the Photoshop app starts and is passed the DNG file.
Even though I have the External Editing set to TIFF to open in CS6 it refuses to export a TIFF file and pass that to PS.
Oddly this export process will work for a JPG file but not one that is converted to DNG.
No lab software loaded and am on current versions through Adobe Updater.
    Am I missing something?

You're not missing anything. If you have the current versions of LR and ACR, this is exactly what happens. When you Save the file in PS it will be added to LR and stacked with the original raw file using the format you've selected (tiff in your case). Note that you don't do Save As, just Save.

  • TripleHead2Go DP Edition with MacBook Pro 13" and snow leopard 10.6.3

I have my triplehead2go DP edition set up, the problem is the resolution of my external monitors. If I try to set at maximum resolution, my external monitors go crazy/corrupt with graphics card NVIDIA GeForce 9400M. The work around according to Matrox is to downgrade from 10.6.3 to 10.6.1. Is there a way to do this? If you have 15" or 17" you can select high performance under energy saver, but that is not available for 13". I would like to find a way that would not require to reinstall 10.6.0. Will 10.6.4 fix this as well? I am only using two monitors (have to connect to ports 1 and 3) and should be able to set my resolution above 1880 x 900 (2 x 1400 x 900). I am using two Dell 24 inch monitors (U2410).

Is there a way to do this?
Reinstall 10.6 and install the 10.6.1 update only.
Will 10.6.4 fix this as well?
    Nobody here would know that.
Also note, that this forum is for troubleshooting compatibility issues between Mac OS and Windows. You should really post your question in the MacBook Pro forums:
