A Baffling ConnectNow Problem ....

My colleage and I work in different parts of the state. We
have been
trying to get Acrobat ConnectNow to work in a vid-conf mode.
He is
using s MacBook Pro(OS X & loaded) and I am using a Dell
desktop
GX-520 (XP Pro SP3 also loaded). The MacBook Pro has a
built-in
webcam & mic. My Dell 20" LCD has a Logitech
QuickCam® Ultra
Vision w/mic. When we make a connect thru ConnectNow - the
same
problem occurs everytime. Both webcams function - we can see
each
other. When I speak, he can hear me clearly. But when he
speaks into
his mic - I cannot hear him at all. We have both checked our
own
equipment and test our own computers - everything checks out
O.K.
When we each go into ConnectNow we use the Preferences menu
to
select Speakers & Mic ==> Test Mic/Test Speakers and
both of our
devices check-out O.K. We both connectvia T-1 lines. This is
a very
puzzling problem. Any ideas, suggestions, advice would be
greatly

You should be able to both talk at once- I just tested it in
my ConnectNow room successfully.
Here's something I noted though- I couldn't hear the
participant in my room at first. I could tell he was speaking via
the indicator, but I couldn't hear him. As soon as I turned up the
volume in Windows for my microphone, both he and I could hear each
other perfectly fine.

Baffling recording problem in Audition 3.0, please help!

i have this totally silly problem with audition 3.0, which until today was working fine.
the problem is simple but infuriating. i open a session, load a music track into track 1 and attempt to record my voice on track 2.
audition records, on track 2, the output from track 1 as well!
this problem started after i installed two pieces of software on the computer: van basco's karaoke player and audacity.
i've uninstalled these two programmes, restarted the computer, uninstalled and reinstalled audition (twice!) but nothing seems to work.
does anybody have any ideas?

a late news flash. i haven't actually cracked it, but i've found a way round it that works: i add a bus track and send the output of track 1 to that bus track. that way the track 1 content doesn't get recorded on to track 2. a bit heath robinson though!

since i've now, thanks to ryclark, totally cracked this problem i think i can help!
probably you need to alter not your sound card setting but your windows mixer settings (i assume you're using windows). you can do this easily from outside audition (even with audition not open).
open the windows volume master (double click on the little speaker icon), in its control bar click "options" then select "properties". click on "recording", click on ok, then in the volume control panel that opens select only the microphone (or whatever you're using for your mike input) and disactivate everything else.
you should now be able to record in audition only what comes in through the mike.

Can't send email over home wi-fi network

Everything about ihone has been great except for baffling email problem. Prior to this I've never had a problem setting up POP email on various Macs, PDAs, cellphones...
I'm in the UK so on the o2 network. I have correctly filled in all the correct recommended mail settings which others have reported as working.
Here's the problem:
- I can pick up mail fine when I'm connecting via home wi-fi, using my usual POP server
- I can send mail OK over the GPRS/EDGE network using o2's smtp server
- When I try to send an email using o2's server, but connecting via home wi-fi, the email never sends. It seems to lock up the email software which continuously attempts to send but with no progress on the progress bar.
This is driving me nuts as I want to use the o2 server so I don't have to switch between accounts whether home or not or whether on mobile network or wi-fi.
I have tried several times to reset the phone, delete email accounts and enter them again from scratch. I even did a total erase and reset of the iPhone but same problem.
Any advice please?

o2's server will only work on their network (i.e., on EDGE and GPRS). If it worked off-network it would be a boon to spammers (an "open relay"). You need to find out if the ISP that provides your home Internet connection has an SMTP server that is available off-network, or you can find a "public" server such as gmail for sending.

Tape plays during capture but "capture duration" doesn't move

So essentially it's not capturing when I hit the record button. All it does is play the tape Anyone ever run into this problem? I've captured successfully with this device (Canon HDV camera) and same settings before so I'm baffled.

'Problem Ticket' huh? That's good, Patrick. When I worked for the telephome company in Washington, D. C., three or four lifetimes ago, we called them Trouble Tickets.

1:1 Zoom difference between similar images

Hi   I have just upgraded to Lightroom 5 and am still figuring it out as I go.
I have recently been facing this baffling zoom problem.   For some reason when I zoom in 100% into an image it works just as it should. But when I zoom in to the next image which is exactly the subject shot in burst mode ...I actualy get a less than 100% zoom although on Navigator it says it is a 1:1 zoom. All my pictures have a combination of this contrasting zoom and I just can't figure out why? There seems to be no pattern!!!

Yes I do.
A friend suggested the following...to connect your hard drive, select all the images, discard the 1:1 preview and then discard the smart previews. Then Build the Smart Previews first followed by the 1:1 previews.
I did that...
I started out small, with a folder that had only 15 photos but still had this pesky problem. I did as was suggested and it worked perfectly for this folder.
Then I thought I should try it out on a bigger folder with 318 photos before going all out. I did exactly as was suggested again. Everything was fine till it came time to building 1:1 previews. Instead of building 318 previews. It said it was building only 49!!!! And after that process as you can imagine the problem still persisted. So I tried again. This time I got 79 1:1 previews. And the last time I got 88. Thing is each time after the task is completed it says that 318 1:1 previews exist or were created.
So I looked out for some of the problem photos and tried the discard preview - smart and 1:1 on them. I chose 9 such photos but only 1 or 2 1:1 previews were created. And then like magic it worked. In a second group of photos it didn't work.
I am now utterly and thoroughly confused.

Baffling Problem with Acrobat Javascript

I'm hoping someone can help me. I've tried for hours and hours to find what the trouble is but just can't find a solution.
The following code works, however, this is the baffling part. I need to edit / update the code but the problem occurs when I make ANY changes to the code - even indenting a line. You will notice that the code is not indented and poorly formatted - that's because when I had the code indented, I repeatedly got a "SyntaxError: missing } in compound statement"
I am completely baffled as to why sometimes I get the SyntaxError and sometimes not. I swear there are instances where the code worked one time and then another time causes a SyntaxError.
Tried using Adobe Javascript Debugger, tried running code through jslint.com, tried creating a new PDF file and placing this code in that file - still getting SyntaxError if I change or indent the code. The only thing I haven't tried yet is trying it out on the Windows version.
I'm using Acrobat Pro 10.1.3 (Creative cloud) on a Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4
Any help would be really appreciated!

I don't get the same thing in Acrobat 9 on Windows XP. It would be interesting to see what happens if you copy what you posted here on the forum and use it.
I would suggest changing code like:
if (this.getField('1A').value.length === 0)
To something like this:
if (this.getField('1A').valueAsString.length === 0)
If you use the value property and the field value is numeric (or "true" or "false"), it won't have a length property because the type of the value isn't "string", so it will be undefined. Since the special value of undefined is not equal to zero the code works, but it's a bit misleading. It could be further refined to just:
if (!getField('1A').valueAsString)

Database Link. Problem in Forms. Baffled!

Hoping someone can help.
I'm working on a system that has a form on it with a problem. Although there is a currently compiled and working version of this form available, I cannot get it to compile.
The situation is this.
There are 2 databases, MINX a 9i database, and PROD an APPS 11i database.
On the database PROD exists a view called MTL_ITEM_CATEGORIES_V.
SELECT is granted on this to the APPSINQ user.
On the database MINX exists a public synonym MTL_ITEM_CATEGORIES_V, which points at the view MTL_ITEM_CATEGORIES_V on the PROD database by way of a public database link, also called PROD. The database link uses the APPSINQ user on the PROD database.
(once the set_org_context, and nls_language have been set)
From SQL on the MINX database, I can select from the public synonym, MTL_ITEM_CATEGORIES_V, and rows are successfully returned from the MTL_ITEM_CATEGORIES_V view on the PROD database. This is all ok and good.
However, in the main form, is a trigger which does a select from the public synonym and this will not compile.
I get the error : identifier 'CATEGORY_SET_ID' must be declared.
It's like it can't see the category_set_id column in the view. However, if I create a new block, and base it on the public synonym, the category_set_id column is there for me to choose. Meaning that forms CAN see the column.
Am baffled! Anyone ??

I´ve got some problems with synonyms and dblinks in forms too. Try creating a local view based on the remote view usign the dblink (do not use the public synonym) and try to compile again.
I think in some cases the compiler gets lost trying to follow synonyms and links. a forms bug maybe?

Baffling problems with letter key and erratic keybinds

I'm not even certain how to explain my issue. I was in the middle of typing an explanation to a friend in IM when I discovered that any attempt to press 'v' key resulted in a copy/paste of the URL I had attempted to send to him before. I checked to see if either of the keys included in the copy/paste keybind were somehow stuck, but the command key initially appeared to be operating normally; it was only that particular letter key that posed a problem. After restoring the default keyboard settings, turning off all of options in the 'speech' toolbar, and updating my software, I found that my computer would now paste text if I pressed either my v OR the command key on the left of the space bar. I could also occasionally type a normal letter if I held down my left click. I'm a bit baffled. Is this a sign of a dying keyboard, or..?

Is this in Leopard or on the iBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.2) = Tiger computer?
Does it do this if running in Safe Mode (hold down shift key while starting, be very patient)?

Please help! iMac randomly disconnects from internet. Wi-fi via BT hub. I am baffled by all of the suggestions when I google this problem! Any simple solution? Thanks!

Please Help! My brand new imac randomly disconnects from the internet. We have a BT hub - wi-fi. I have googled this issue and see that it is relatively common and it is incredibly frustrating. sadly, I have been unable to wade through the suggestions others have had as to how to solve the problem as i have no technical knowledge and am basically baffled by the list of suggestions. Please can anyone explain why this happens and what to do? It is fairly simple to reconnect each time but it is driving me mad having to. It generally happens when the computer is asleep but sometimes in the middle of doing something. Thanks!!!!!!

What frequency, security are you running? It would have been helpful if you specified in the first post.
Did you create a new Location in System Preferences->Network pane, Location pull-down. Create a new custom named Location. Then after you create that new Location click on the 'Apply' button to save that new custom named Location. See if that helps.
Lastly a lot of people have reported that WEP in lion is problmatic and it would be better to use WPA2 if you can.

Audio capture problem - I am baffled!

I am having a strange experience trying to capture footage from a particular tape. Perhaps someone out there can help me solve this mystery.
I have a particular DVCAM tape that I am trying to capture.
If I capture it to Premiere CS4 using a Sony DSR-11, the audio of the footage is 48K mono.
If I capture any other tape with the DSR-11, the audio of the footage is 48K stereo.
If I capture this tape using a Sony DSR-200, the captured audio is also 48K mono
When I am monitoring the audio of this tape through Premiere, I can hear that it is mono
When I monitor the analog outputs of the DSR-11, I can hear that the audio is stereo.
If I run a firewire cable from the DSR-11 to a DVD recorder, and monitor that, I can hear that the audio is stereo.
I have tried creating a new project, but the same things happen.
What might possibly be going on?! Why can't I capture the audio from this *one* tape in stereo? I am completely baffled.

Hmm. Interesting about the DSR200. I no longer shoot with the DSR200, but I'm re-editing an older tape from the time when I did shoot with the DSR200. As such, this will not likely be an issue in the future. At least the mystery is solved, for which I am grateful. As a test, I tried capturing from footage from a different tape shot with the DSR200, and I experienced the same problem.
As far as the difference between type 1 and type 2 .avi files, I wasn't aware of this. For this project, I'll output the audio of the type 1 .avi file as a .wav file, and sync it to the type 2 .avi file with the mono audio.

Baffling problem with podcasts and privileges

I subscribe to seven podcasts. Six download updates without difficulty. But one has stopped updating. When I try to update my Radio Open Source podcast, I get this message: "There is a problem downloading __. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."
All six other podcasts update properly. Any ideas as to how I can fix this? Thanks.

Due to a hard-drive meltdown, I had to replace my iBook drive and reinstall my system. This wasn't done, obviously, to cure my podcast problem, but it did. Now if only my iBook hadn't stopped recognizing my iPod, which seems to be a but in the latest updater. ****.

Weird Server Problem - Apple Tech Support guys baffled!

So here is a really weird one!! I go to the finder. I choose 'Network' from the sidebar. I select a columnar view of the servers showing the names of the machines connected to my network. The last item, names 'Servers' should show an alias with a link to my own iMac G5 (which is named DG's iMac G5) - but what it actually says is 'macaboss.central.cu.lu' which I have found out is a server of some kind at the Central University of Luxemburg!!! Aaaaagh! So here is what is even more strange! All of the Macs on my network have the same problem and all have different names - all of which are connected with the Central University of Luxemburg. I have looked everywhere and cannot find any way to change this. I have spoken to Apple and they have no idea what has happened here or what to do. If you can shed any light on this, or can offer a solution, then I will be seriously impressed. Thanks

The numbers on the page I linked to are all, to the best of my knowledge, Apple tech support, not independent support providers, with the possible exception of Hong Kong and perhaps some of the smaller areas; I'm not sure, not having called them all. What country are you in?
BTW, there is no email for Apple tech support. Apple provides tech support via telephone only.

Baffling duplex printing problem

I have a new Macbook Pro running OS X 10.8.4 (Mountain Lion)
Printer - Epson XP-800 multi
When I create a 2 page test document and select 2-sided printing, the result prints 2-sided. [Printer duplex capability is verified in this action].
When I try to print a 70+ page Pages document with "2-sided" selected, it prints single-sided. [document created from material copied and pasted from MSWord].
When I run Preview and access the same large Pages document, it seems prints 2-sided.
What on earth is going on?

I have been printing on my canon mg3220. Have not had an issue until this latest io update. Now my second page prints up side down as stated in the above post. It may be just a coincidence that it happened right after the update but I had not had any problems previously. If it is a printer driver then I should have been having problems all along I would think. Unless the latest io caused it to have an issue.
Rearranging paper or documents going to different apps defeats the purpose of the AirPrint convenience. I could send the doc to my MacBook and print from there for all that trouble.

It used to work fine, and then I think I upgraded the JMF and it all went to garbage.
My question is how can I repair this? Is the problem in the jre that my IDE uses, or is it in the jre my PC is set up to use. Or is the Format class that is in the classpath of my PC different than the one that is being used in my application?
Company is waiting patiently(NOT) for me to repair this problem.

Many Baffling Problems

since 30 days i m constantly facing problems eith the pc;1.first the battery wasnt being charged when plugged in.i called lenovo care delhi .they locked my call to change the battery.
i took the pc to the service center in mumbai sakinaka where "battery was changed" but problem persisted.
they diagnosed that the motherboard needed to b changed.
2.after a week my "motherboard was chANGED" .the charging problem was solved.
3.But immediately after the mother board was changed
5 buttons- the RED shuttle center button,the volume buttons,novo key,camera buttons were not working.
4.along with that the icons on the taskbar did not appear,ie the veriface face recognition icon,shuttle center icon,eazy button icon,
windows side bar icon,realtek sound driver icon,easy capture icon,power to go icon are not seen on the taskbar.
5.before changing the motherboard when i bring the mouse cursor on the battery icon onthe taskbar the time for
which the battery would last was displayed. NOW THE TIME FOR WHICH THE BATTERY WOULD LAST IS NOT APPEARING.
6.Sometimes after the pc is started immediately after shutting down "there is no sound".
7.The overall speed has reduced. starting windows takes much time.
programs hang frequently.
8.the pc abruptly shuts down for no apparent reason;
**all these problems began AFTER CHANGING THE MOTHERBOARD.
THESE PROBLEMS GET SOLVED TEMPORARILY AFTER ONE KEY RECOVERY IS EXECUTED.BUT AFTER SHUTTING DOWN AND STARTING AGAIN
2-3 TIMES ALL THESE PROBLEMS APPEAR AGAIN.
I PHONED THE CUSTOMER CARE DELHI.THEY LOCKED MY CALL TO CHANGE THE MOTHERBOARD ONCE AGAIN.
