A better calendar App

Well I have had my iPhone for a whole week now and one thing I miss from my Windows Moblie phone is the calendar. On my WM phone if I had any appointments coming up they would show up on the today screen. So whenever I would turn on my phone I would see my appointments right away. Is there an App that would show like a number in the corner of the icon like the e-mail app, that would let me know I have a appointment comming up soon? And just in case anyone is thinking about it. I researched the iPhone for 2 years and knew what I was getting. This is not a deal breaker, there is no way I would go back to a WM phone again!

I don't believe so.
There are various sound alert options for each event with a first and second alert option. Depending on the event, a may do an alert for 2 hours before with a 2nd alert 30 minutes before, and each morning I use the list view to look over all events I have scheduled that day.
You can use the iPhone feedback link to provide Apple your feedback.

  • I need a better Calendar App!

Hello  I'm a long time BB user - now with the Q10.  I find the built-in Calendar app fiddley & less than terrific.  Can someone recommend a Calendar app that I could download, even if not free, that is a better business application than the built-in Calendar app.  Many thx g

    Hi  Mr.DJ
I have been trying to get accustomed to flipping between dayly/weekly view/monthly views and the Agenda.  You know that if you press the "a" key - it will give you the Agenda, if you press the "d" key you get the day view, press the "w" key, it gives you the week view, and "m" key & you get month view.   Hitting the 'p" key gives you the previous day/week/month  & hit the "n" key & you get the next day/week or month - which ever mode you are in.  Hit the "g" key - and it's GO TO.  By using those short cut keys I am starting to feel more comfortable with the built-in Calendar.  I still would welcome if someone makes a good suggestion for an outside app with better functionality.  Maybe it's just a matter of getting use to the Q10 (I was previously a "Torch" user - although - truth be told - I was not a huge fan of it.  I must say I really do like the Q10 otherwise.  The Calendar feels like a bit of a week link somehow. g

  • Is there a better calendar app for the iphone?

I have the iphone. Love it! But, I am coming over from the blackberry and I am use to the calendar functionality like scheduling To-Do's,accept or decline meeting invites, set priorities to your meetings and setup a daily meeting that skips the weekends. What I'm looking for is either the ability to sync with all of my outlook features like To-do's or purchase a application that can will expand the current iPhone calendar function. I'm even willing to abandon outlook to get this working. I know this may sound ignorant to apple users but, does iCal work on windows vista or xp and is it a better replacement for outlooks?
    Message was edited by: macruzin

Wish I had better news, but there's really no way to sync Outlook To-Do's with the iPhone. iCal does not run on anything other than Mac OS X, but even so, the To-Do list in iCal does not sync with the iPhone either (if that's any consolation).
There are a few task manager-type apps in the App Store, but the major limitation is that 3rd party apps do not run in the background, so to get task/event reminders, you'd have to have that app open all the time.
You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.

  • Stock calendar app not showing GCalendar entries

This is in regard to the stock calendar app' which comes with the Samsung Fascinate.  I have all calendars selected as viewable too.
I do like I did on my old phone and also make entries into the phone local calendar "My calendar".  These events show in the time-grid-listing-location for their time of day.  I now also have combined those along with GCalendar entries.
Googles' do show as a dog-ear on the by Month (for their day), and, also on the Week, but never in the time-grid-listing.  "My calendar" entries "DO" show in the time listings.
How do I get the Google calendar (which, by the way, is synch'ed ... I know this also because the GCalendar entries show as a mass-listing at the top of a Day listing, but, not on the time-grid-listing, and, notifications via a GCal' entry work fine too) to show also?  Can they not, and/or, do I need to go to the market and get a better calendar app'?
Thanks in advance!  Not adverse to abandoning the stock calendar in favor of a much better/robust market-app'.  Curious which of a potential multitude is a/thee pick-of-the-litter.

I am almost positive the "MyCalendar" is local-only (only stored on the phone).  I have not looked for where it is stored on the phone (either internal mem' or the SD card).  I suspect you can find out there the naming convention of that file if you need to back it up.  I fear that hard-reset.
I roll 3 GMAIL accts plus the 1 local calendar (for stupid little reminders only).  In the new 2.2 Android OS, there appears much better view-ing ability between them, or all, and turning certain ones on and off manually (open the stock calendar app', hit the menu button, hit settings, and then hit calendars (bunch of checkboxes for all of your calendars, even those subscribed to via google)).
I don't know if you can pick a default calendar  -  mine always automatically chooses MyCalendar, and, once an event is created, you are stuck with that event in that calendar (little bogus).

  • How do I change the default calendar app used by my system?

I am using BusyCal as my calendar application in Mavericks and using Postbox as my email application. They just work better for me than the default mail app and calendar on the Mac. One problem I am having, however, is when I get an email with a date in it, which I want to add to my calendar, it automatically opens up my system Calendar app, not BusyCal, to add the item. Is there a way to change it so that my BusyCal app acts as my default app in these and other situations like this?

Try going into settings > General > international > region format > new zealand.
    Hope that works.

  • Calendar information missing, no I cloud backup, settings claims email calendar is still on, option not available in calendar app

So this morning when I went to check my calendar for my schedule it was completely blank. I went to "calendars" at the bottom of the application & it obly had the "birthday" calendar to select, the other three were gone. I checked another way by going into settings and then email, and it claimed that the calendars were selected & up and running, but they are not available to check in the calendar app. I also do not use iCloud because I do not have the space for everything or even my calendar because my family has 8 different apple products so the free iCloud data was sucked up extremely fast. What can I do to fix this?! I'm kind of freaking out because the calendars app is pretty much my only way of knowing what time I need to be where & it's all gone!
Last night before I went to bed it was all there. I went on Facebook, candy crush, & the internet for an hour and a half & then preceded to go to sleep. I woke up this morning with my calendar missing.
    Someone please help?

    Hi pefd39,
Can you please provide more information on the issue you are having synchronizing your calendar as well as any error messages so that we can assist you better?

  • Recomendation for calendar app for server/sharing

I'm looking to deploy a shared calendar for my workgroup at the office, on our server.
Ideally I would like this to be simple to setup, and am really looking for something with a web based client.
I've come across quite a few calender server apps but they require client software to communicate with the server.
found a few that have built in web clients but the setup seems fairly complex.
I suppose complex setup is okay but would still like recommendations for a good one so i'm not wasting time getting it setup if it sucks.
something like google calendar would be perfect but I want to run it on my (arch) server and not the interwebz.
As far as for what we plan to do with it would be a single, or possibly 2 or 3 shared calendars. I would like to have logins for each user and give them either read only or change access to the calendar. I dont need individual calendars for each user. Just a couple of global shared ones that everyone can update.  Currently running lighttpd but I can change to apache if need be.
    any ideas appreciated

Not working out very well im afraid
I did find a few and played around with them but really didnt find anything that did what I wanted.

setup seemed a bit complicated and it was also very much targeted at universities. though I didnt play around with it very long, might be promising if you invest some time into it...

this project is dead. It works. You can build it, but the interface is horrible and it doesnt seem very usable or user friendly.
    http://www.zimbra.com/community/downloads.html
This is email and everything. It has a calendar, but its pretty heavy to run this if you just want a calendar app.

This one is very promising. I got wonderful support from the devs on irc when I ran into install issues. Unfortunately the gui hasnt been fully developed it seems. The calendar comes up fine but there is no interface to add appointments, etc. at least that I could see. I was a bit discourced and didnt go back to the devs to get more info...
maybe you will have better luck than I did...

  • How to delete unwanted timezones from Calendar app on Yosemite?

I upgraded to Yosemite and one of the problems I had with Calendar App had something to do with Time Zone.
I realized that Calendar added California time as default. So now I want to delete the unwanted time zone, but cannot find a way to do so.
How does one remove or uncheck a time zone in iCal (Mountain Lion)?
I found this forum and tried, but as the last person who posted said, it doesn't work on Yosemite.
Does anyone know to delete unwanted timezones from Calendar App on Yosemite?
    Thanks.

    Thank you for your response.
However, I am not asking about how to change the timezone on Mac. I'm asking about how to delete unwanted timezones on Calendar app.
Here I have 2 Pacific Time's. They are basically the same, but sometimes my computer choses one of the other without my intention. And when it does, it keeps showing (PST) on next to the starting time which I do not want. In order to avoid that, I'd like to delete "Pacific Time (America/Los_Angeles)". From the link you provided, I'm not finding the solution to this. I might be looking at a wrong spot and if so please be patient to guide me through.
If my question still doesn't make sense, please click the link to the solution for the same problem on Mountain Lion in my original question. You might understand my question better from it.
    Thank you.

  • Can you recommend calendar app w/ fine-tuned alerts?

I desparately need to find a calendar app where you can fine-tune the alerts, e.g., 15 hours, 7 minutes, etc.. --& where the alert lasts longer than the blip that's on the iPhone 4S. Ideally, once it alerts you, I'd like it to go off again in a few minutes (my Palm would alert me every 10 minutes, 3 times, until I dismissed it. This was a life-saver.). I have severe memory problems and am in a panic over the loss of my Palm program on previous  phone.
This was the only reason I purchased a smart phone, and I'm finding it's not as smart as it thinks it is. My Palm program was much, much better.
    Many thanks.

Take a look at CalAlarm on the App Store, you can snooze an event indefinitely and repeatedly, and for any duration. Been using it now for a while, works well.
I have no need for such an app. Perhaps, even though it's been almost since this post was active, the OP is still looking for such an app.
    Best of luck.

  • [Beginner] build a calendar app for each team using out of the box calendar app

    Hi all,
First of all, I'm a beginner in sharepoint and need some advice in the following case:
We want to to create a calendar for different teams. Each team has it's own calendar to schedule a standby (all day event) for each day. In the overall view we want to see for each team the schedule who's standby (overlay). My preferred solution is to create
a new site and use the calendar app and customize this a little bit.
I tried to do this by creating a new calendar app and adding different views for each team. I have set the group calendar option on true so we can add users to each team calendar view. Unfortunately, I have understand that it is not possible to set default
users for each view. I´m also looking how I can set a default title filled with the name of the view when you add a schedule, I tried to do this with a calculated value but I can´t get that working. An other question is, can I set permissions on each team
view who can edit the schedule or is it better to create for each team an own list? For example, I want to disable that team members can edit schedules in the past, only schedules in the future is editable.
I'm not not sure if the out of the box calendar app is suitable for my case or I have to look futher in other solutions. Any advice is welcome!

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to build a calendar app which can add default users for each calendar view and set default title when adding schedule.
For adding default users in each group calendar view using custom JavaScript, here is a detailed code demo for your reference:
SharePoint Group Calendar, Adding default users
For adding default title when adding schedule, I suggest you can add some Jquery to fill the title textbox when the schedule new form loading. You can add the Jquery under PlaceHolderMain tag of calendar new form page.
    Set Textbox value-using JQuery
For setting permission in the each team view, I suggest you can check the schedule end time in the edit form, if the schedule time is before the current date time, then you can set all the fileld read only using Jquery.
    More information:
Jquery function to compare date with current date
    Jquery set read only
    Thanks
    Best Regards

  • How to see the underlying calendar for an event in Calendar app?

The Calendar app on iPhone does not show the underlying calendar for a given event unless the event is edited, or at least I didn't find a way. My difficulty is that colour alone is not sufficient to tell events apart in all circumstances (9 active ones)

The colors work fine for me but, everyone is different.
Submit your feedback directly to Apple:

And seriously, there are tons of calendar apps out there. I'm sure there must be one that will work better for you.
    Best of luck.
