A bit of career counselling

hello
I am learning ABAP ---the technical module in SAP
But as the jobs in ABAP as a fresher  in slightly tough many are advising me to go for datawarehousing course along with.
What I ask is that
(1) will a job in DATAWAREHOUSING be as good as ABAP
(2)will the knowledge of the "2" be of any advantage?
regards
abaper

Hi Dear,
Currently SAP BI is an hot pie in market. So definately you will be having an adavantage. Its always good to know many things but should be master of one thing.
Just focus either in ABAP or BW. Knowing the two things is always an advantage.
Many companies are hiring freshers as trainee consultant.

• PRE-SAP EXPERIENCE IS A MUST?

I m kinda new in sap world and I m taking sap bw course, but everyttime I hear to talk about transactions and master data of HR , FI , CO and etc; so since I m new I dont know very well this tables of R/3 database system (I m starting to know) , but I d like to know if have a good knoledgement about R/3 database system is a must for being a SAP BI administrator ( SAP BW consultant )?
is a must to know other modules like HR FI CO etc in order to sucess in SAP BI??

Hi,
As you being an SAP BW Consultant means you have Techno - Functional role and not just Techincal or Functional role. In your career you will come across scenarios where you need to have a basic understanding of Functional modules.
But at the same time it doesnt mean that you need to have a deeper understanding of this. In most projects you will have separete ABAP and Functional consultants who will assisit you.
Just get a basic understanding of the Data flow and main tables of the main function modules. Others you can learn in the course of your career.
Along with this try to again some basic understanding and knowledge in ABAP coding as it may be required in your BW career.

• Spry Accordian Tabs Question

Hi
I'm trying to create a spry accordian menu for a navbar and am having some trouble.
This is the first time I've tried it so I would appreciate any help.
The Client would like the tabs to be:
Home
Students
       High School Students
       College Students
Professionals
Parents/Educators
Seminars
Bio
Q  & A Blog
Testimonials
So all they would like High School Students and College Students to be child tabs underneath the parent tabs and all other tabs to be parent tabs.
They asked for a spry accordian.
They want the nav bar to be on the left.
Here is the link to the website online:
http://www.elynncohen.com/index2spry2.html#
and here are my questions:
1. The spry accordian has a box around it on mouse down but I can't figure out how to get rid of it. I've checked all the CSS rules for the spry accordian and none of them seem to have rules around them.
2. All the tabs have a content area underneath them and we only want content areas underneath the student tab. You see how it goes when you click on any of the tabs, you get a little thing that says content 1, 2 etc. I tried deleting them in the code and the page goes completely crazy when I do and the nav bar areas stretch all the way across the page.
3. I can't figure out how to get the child tabs (which would be the tabs under students which say high school and college) to have two tabs. You will see that it does have the high school tab there now. When I try cutting and pasting the code to try to get two tabs, it does not work. The spry accordian framework only creates one content area under each tab.
4. I'd like the child tabs to have a narrower height than the parent tabs, and be indented so that they will clearly be set off and different than the parent tabs.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks!!!

/* ~~ These are the columns for the layout. ~~
1) Padding is only placed on the top and/or bottom of the divs. The elements within these divs have padding on their sides. This saves you from any "box model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the div itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total* width. You may also choose to remove the padding on the element in the div and place a second div within it with no width and the padding necessary for your design.
2) No margin has been given to the columns since they are all floated. If you must add margin, avoid placing it on the side you're floating toward (for example: a right margin on a div set to float right). Many times, padding can be used instead. For divs where this rule must be broken, you should add a "display:inline" declaration to the div's rule to tame a bug where some versions of Internet Explorer double the margin.
3) Since classes can be used multiple times in a document (and an element can also have multiple classes applied), the columns have been assigned class names instead of IDs. For example, two sidebar divs could be stacked if necessary. These can very easily be changed to IDs if that's your preference, as long as you'll only be using them once per document.
4) If you prefer your nav on the right instead of the left, simply float these columns the opposite direction (all right instead of all left) and they'll render in reverse order. There's no need to move the divs around in the HTML source.

1. Line 454

• Sidebar moving over right border of website and outside of main container

Hi
I'm doing a website and have a question.
I have a left nav bar, a fluid center column and an absolute positioned right sidebar.
The sidebar is set to clear left and float right.
However the sidebar moves over to the right and extends past the right border on some browsers.
It moves out of the main container and I would like it to remain within it.
Does anyone know how I can fix it so that the sidebar stays within the white area and does not move to the right?
Thanks for your help!!!!
Here is a screen shot
When the browser window gets a little smaller the sidebar goes back to where I want it.
Here is a link to my test page online:

Absolute positioning will always cause you problems so it's best to avoid unless absolutely necessary.
Having said that, your layout issues were a straight-forward fix. Modify your style sheet with the below sections and and it should be ok. You might need to modify your CSS for smaller screens as once you reduce the browser window to about 500px, the right sidebar disappears. Something to be aware of.
.sidebar1 {
        float: left;
        width: 20%;
        padding-bottom: 10px;
        margin-top: 40px;

EDIT:// I meant to say, you should probably spend some time tidying up your CSS as they are not in any obvious order and can get confusing with multiple styles for the same element. Having a clean and easy to understand CSS sheet makes it easier for you to figure out what is wrong. Will help you enormously in the long run.

• Where can I buy a replacement power supply (model VP-09500018-000) for my 1st generation Time Capsule?

My 1st Time Capsule no longer powers on!  It was making noises for a while before it would no longer keep power / turn on!   I have taken the time capsule apart and could easily replace the power supply if I knew where to buy it   Can anyone lead me in the right direction?
Thank you!

Apple do not supply it as a part.
You can repair the existing supply.

Plenty of people sell the caps set on ebay. Cheaper if you have a good electronics store handy but they need to be top quality low esr capacitors.
Substitute a different kind of power supply.
I definitely believe in using external power supply for this job. This is my own website so disclaimer.

Or some original type are available on ebay. Just search for "Time Capsule power supply"
Or look at what a whole second hand TC will cost you.. a Gen3 or Gen4 can be a better proposition than repairing a dead Gen1.
You can also do a half repair.. By that I mean you only need one voltage to run the TC.. a single 5v 3A power supply plugged into the TC board socket or soldered directly in.. will give you an airport extreme Gen2 for $10. Plug the hard drive in by USB.. or use a bit of careful hacking and use a SATA cable to the post on the board and use a 2TB or even 3TB esata case.
You can also still buy a Cisco dual voltage supply on ebay.. but the wiring of it is a bit rough.

• How to keep the right sidebar on this website from going under the main content (center) column?

Hi...is there a way to keep the right sidebar on this website from going under the main content (center) column when the browser window is made smaller? It would be great if the middle (main content) column could get smaller instead of the sidebar moving under the text when the window is made smaller. I'm working with a fluid layout and this is the first time I've tried this. Any help would be appreciated. Here is the link to the website:

This is part of the message since you cannot post such a long message in posting.
This should show how lost you might be with your warranty. If you install the Firmware Upgrade .8.02 your player might be useless. There is no way to make it work again. Not really. If you understand what Creative seems not to do. So dear user - buy a new player. If you want to know what the solution is to make your player work again post here. If there are enough postings I will explain it here. Too sad that Creative does not do it. It is their job not mine... But again - I am not talking about a problem what is nice to have it solved. I am talking about a player that does not work anymore. If you do not want to wait for my solution just send your player for repair - it was not your fault that it does not work anymore...
This story with the great support was a test of Creative and will be used in a review. So be not surprised to find it somewhere else.
Here the Creative support story. The first mail is at the bottom. I had to make part and part 2 since you cannot post such a long message here.
To: Creative Labs Asia Customer Support <[email protected]][email protected]>Subject: Re: CLA (CTL) - Technical Support Request - (MuVo TX FM) (KMM7755874I6636L0KM)Dear,I know the solution long time already. I just wanted to test the support at Creative. The problem is real and forces owners of your players to buy a new one since their playes get useless after the upgrade. Not only that Creative puts a faulty upgrade on their homepage - their support is good for nothing. But this was a test of the Creative support. I hardly can believe that Creative is not in the position to solve a very simple problem caused by Creative - what has severe consequences for their customers. But this mail story confirms exactly this. So my advice to any customers - stay away from this company and their products - what is the final result of my test. If you want to know the solution for the problem please contact me again - I am glad to help such a poor company :-)))) For free? I am not so sure...since my player was not for free too...Best Regards,PeterPS: The product is still within the "police period" of my dealer. And I did not just buy the product. • Why does the GPS not work with other programs?

It works ok with Blackberry maps. But there are about 5 or 6 programs that I use that will not lock GPS. The one that really florred me was the camera. I sit there and sit there waiting for the gps to lock on (turn from red to white) and nothing happens. We all know that google maps doesnt work (it only will use cell towers. After the STORM disater you would have thought RIM would have been a bit more careful with thier OS's. Hope they get a fix out soon.

Hi Barbara
Thanks for the response.
I updated to Mavericks (10.9.3) and the organizer now appears to work.
However, it is extremely slow in previewing photos that were already on
the Mac and does not appear to be able to download photos from a Canon
5DIII. It appears to start but then spins and spins. It ran overnight
and was unresponsive this morning.
Do you have any ideas as to what to do to make this work?

• QT opens when I click to open PDFs

I upgraded to QT Pro last week and now when I try to open PDF files with Adobe Reader, QT starts and displays the document. This document can't be zoomed, scrolled, or printed. I have checked for preferences in QT and Reader and can't determine where I am supposed to look to get back to Reader as the default PDF program.

Not meaning to flame (really, I'm not) but you need to read a bit more carefully. Do not right-click on the PDF. As David said, just select it (single click) and Get Info on it (command under the File menu or Command-I). Then you'll see the section that says "open with". That's where you change the application and where you'll see the "Change all" button.
Regards.

• Window sizing not saved?

I resize a sheet in Number v3 and save it bit the careful sizing I set is not saved and a small default window size opens when I re-open the file. How can I save my window sizing as per Number 09?
Thanks
Gary

Hi,
I think window auto-tuning is enabled.
You can disable it by running the following commend.
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
Hope this helps.

• TS1702 I was sent an invitation from a friend with an iPhone to purchase an app. When I opened the invitation, it sent me to the app store and I bought. However, it was the iPhone version of the app, and I have an iPad. Is it possible to get a refund?

I know, I should've looked at the app page a bit more carefully before purchasing the app (the app in this case is Fruit Ninja, but it applies to all multi-iOS compatible apps) but it would be nice if a confirmation message was sent before authorizing the purchase with your ID and password (i.e., "This is an iPhone app. Are you sure you want to purchase this?"). Since I didn't know I was purchasing an app for bother iOS device, a refund would also be nice.

If the system didn't ship with Mountain Lion originally and you didn't purchase Mountain Lion yourself, then you will need to purchase. A purchase by the system's original owner cannot be transferred to you.
Unless you have another system on which you have purchased Mountain Lion, you will need to first install Mac OS X 10.6.8 on the iMac, for which you'll need either the original installation disks, if the iMac came with 10.6, or a retail copy of 10.6. Install 10.6 and upgrade to at least 10.6.6, and then you can buy Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store, presuming of course that the imac can support Mountain Lion. See:
http://www.apple.com/osx/how-to-upgrade/

• Microphone for Mac -- Windows chat ?

After being advised to buy a Macway (a French make) webcam [1], I splashed out, and well it doesn't work. Not only doesn't it work when I want to chat with friends using Windows/MSN, but it doesn't even work with those who have Macs and iChat. No sound, no video, nothing. Fine. It'll make a good doorstop. Oh, wait: I managed to chat last night with my mother via Skype, except that I could hear her, she could see me (even if my face was bright orange), but that was all. So she talked, I typed, and she laughed as I slugged my red wine.
I'm giving up. Forget video.
Having audio would be a good start. But can I find a microphone anywhere !??
Am I asking too much? All I want is to use Skype/MSN/IChat to hear and to speak to folk I know.
Any recommendations ?

I should read a bit more carefully. I could have
sworn that I was answering about a MacBook and not a
mini.
You are absolutely right about the microphone of
course, although it does have speakers (pretty basic
as they are). Sorry 'bout that.
It's not a problem.
My Mac Mini's speakers might be good or bad, but I've never tested them. Since day one, the thing has been rigged up to my stereo, and whilst I might gripe about other aspects of the Mac Mini, I admit that Apple's claim that they're 'media centres', is spot-on. iTunes is never switched off, and when I get into bed, I just kill the volume with the remote control, and turn it back up first thing in the morning. Music eighteen hours a day !
Anyway, that's off-topic for this forum. An hour ago, I was browsing through Apple's website, and I came across this image ..

'They have a "line in" socket ??' I muttered. I hadn't really paid attention to all of the sockets behind the Mac, but I took a peek, and there it was. A line in socket. So this means that normal headset/micro combinations will work.
So I've just dug into my credit card again, and bought this..

I've also just ordered a 500 GB hard drive, identical in size and colour to my Mini. I need to stop spending money, but as for the Mini: I love it. They're gonna have to bury me with it.
