A black wire sticking out of the CD tray

I open the CD tray to my eMac and find a black wire with a fitting on the end. I has become detached from somewhere. Unable to use CD tray. Wondering how to put the wire back where it is supposed to go.

Jim,
It sounds like it may be the antenna for an Airport Extreme card. Have a look at this article for instructions on how to remove the cover panel for the CD drawer. If you do not have an Airport card, all you need do is push the antenna back inside your eMac, though you may need to remove the cover panel to do so. Post back if you are unable to resolve.

My ipod isent charging and my sound insn'et working in the jack hole there are wires sticking out but they are tiny what do i do?

First of all, you are fortunate that everything works.  Secondly, I agree that rice may be the culprit in the charging port.  However there is a chance that your trying to fix it could actually harm the port and cost you, so I suggest you first get under a bright light and use a magnifying glass to see exactly what and where the obstruction is.  Attempting to connect the charging cable has probably already forced the obstructing substance further down into the port.  Obviously the port is small and will require some kind of tool to help you remove whatever is in there.  I suggest a plastic toothpick that is not likely to break and shouldn't do damage to the contacts.  Tweezers may be useful but if utilized be very cautious not to scrape anything if at all possible.

  • Iphone 6 plus 128gb blue plastic sticking out from the brand new phone

I entered into a 24 mths phone plan and got the iPhone 6plus  128gb. I later discovered (after unboxing), a blue plastic sticking out from the phone (on the side). Anyone experienced the same thing before? Do you think I will get a replacement from Apple? The phone company told me to go to apple retail store. It is 1 hr away from where I live!!

I went to the retail store and they told me the mobile phone carrier should have just swapped it for me in store! So had to drive back to get it replaced at the original store.. o well at least they admitted that it was DOA and so they didnt ask too many qns as a result.
The genius at the store said that it is a leftover plastic inside the phone. It should have been removed during the manufacture but obviousky it was not.
    Thanks

  • Something sticks out of the frame in new iPhone

    Hi,
In my new 5s I've spotted some sticker near the frame.. what could it be?
I didn't find any green stickers on disassembly pictures of 5s in that place. I didn't try to remove this as I'm afraid I can damage something.

That looks like a piece of tape.  If it easily peels off, then peel it off.

_*Every times*_ when I using *Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac*, I'm at the Windows XP starting up, and has a *black screen* to tell me to pass the power button to *should down*.

I bring my MacBook Pro (Intel i7) to the Apple store, they said is the Norton Internet Security 4.1.0 causing that happen.
The Apple store said uninstall the Norton Internet Security 4.1.0 and wait for the new version.

  • Wire Hanger out of the Headphone jack?

Think this will give my iPhone at least 1 or 2 bars? Maybe I should wrap it in aluminum foil...that won't take away from the looks at all, will it?
I will say, I have one heck of a iPod sitting here

I was with Verizon and it was flawless. I was under the impression that after 5+ years with Verizon's full bar service no matter where I was that cell phone coverage had greatly improved with technology...man was I wrong.
I thought Apple was strong enough to pick a partner they KNEW would work across the board. What kind of deal did Apple and AT&T make? Can you imagine the money? Think any of it went into improving the Network for one of the biggest Technology launches in history?
They could have had it all. Imagine if all the people on this forum jumped on iTunes, activated, got 4 bars and were happy? Of course there would be 1% of the people trying to plug the usb cable into their toasters but thats going to happen. Not a mass disappoint from the Apple faithful like this.
I sell Apple to everyone who will listen to me, now I have to tuck my tail between my legs and look the other way because my iPhone has been AT&T'ed into the ground

  • Mini 210 new model - Do the batteries stick-out?

So I ordered a mini 210 with a 3-cell and a 6-cell thinking if I didn't like the big part sticking out all the time I could use the 3-cell. As shown in the picture when selecting battery options. But then I saw this video on youtube:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsrawkE2yDM
He said it was a 6-cell and it didn't stick out at all like the picture when ordering. Is he mistaken or is this the new 6-cells.
If that is really what the new 6-cells look like is there anyway I can change my order?

  • MBP Caps Lock key sticks out more than the others!

Just wondered if this is normal! The caps lock seems to stick out of the keyboard more than the others! Can anyone help?

I just received my new MacBook Pro 17" this afternoon. My tab, caps lock, and shift keys are all raised on the left hand side. If you look at the keys from the left hand side of the keyboard you can see how they are raised up higher than the tilde and fn key. Also, the control keys kind of sticks when it is pressed down all the way. I like the machine, but I've very disappointed in the keyboard. It doesn't seem as nice as my PowerBook keyboard. I have them here side by side. The PowerBook keyboard is perfect and has a better feel when typing. I hope I get used to this new one.

  • JS/PS CS3: identify single pixels sticking out

In a bitmap, is it possible to identify single pixels sticking out from a shape? Let's say I have this black shape in a black-and-white bitmap:
       xxxxxxxx
       xxxxxxxx
       xxxxxxxx
       xxxxxxxx
            x
an 8 by 4 rectangle with one pixel sticking out from the bottom. Question is, can I find such pixels using a script (JS) and make it white?
    Thanks,
    Peter

Peter, I added the work around to the script. It appears to fix the problem. With my basic test files.

  • DVD Drive Module on Pismo sticks out of expansion bay. Any way to fix?

I just picked up a Pismo the other day and found a DVD drive for it on ebay, which works perfectly, but the drive sticks out of the expansion bay a little unless I put some pressure on the bottom or the top of the computer. Of course, when I release pressure, the drive pops out a little again. Should i be worried about this at all, or is it just cosmetic? Is this a common problem? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    soul,
It sounds like the little plastic tab on the release mechanism inside the frame is worn and is not holding the drive as far in the bay as it should, or the recess on the optical drive may be worn. If you remove the optical drive, you will see a small rectangular recess on the edge of the drive that engages a small tab on the lever. Look into the empty bay with a flashlight and you will see the tab and how the mechanism works.
Here is a picture of the recess (top picture) on the drive:
    http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Mac/PowerBook-G3-Pismo/Optical-Drive/6/22/Page-1/Opt ical-Drive
You cannot replace the levers, if necessary, without considerable disassembly of the 'book. Possibly you can improvise a thin spacer for the recess on the drive.

  • T400 & T500 Battery size - what sticks out and what doesn't? *EMBEDDED IMAGES*

I've been seeing a lot of discussion around the various notebook communities about batteries, and wanted to take a moment to discuss them. The big question on everybody's mind is: which batteries fit flush on the new T400 & T500, and which don't?
I'm still trying to get accurate measurements of how far the batteries stick out the back of these machines and I will update this post when I have them. I just wanted to get this out there to hopefully answer people's questions sooner than later.
Lastly, please note this information applies to R400 & R500 as well.
Edit Saw this question out there and I updated the info below to show the extra mount of runtime one battery has over another. Obviously your runtime will vary based on usage, but given the capacity of the battery, one can derive how much longer it will run at a given usage level.
also, anyone know how much longer the life is on a 9 cell vs a 6 cell?
8/14 Edit - Added all battery measurements except 9-cell. Stay tuned. Note that I also included the total depth of the battery, which is how I calculated how far the batteries stick out. (Depth of larger battery) - (Depth of flush battery) = amount sticking out. I'm normally good with numbers and a calculator, but if I made a mistake feel free to correct me.
8/18 Edit - The measurements for the 9-cell battery are now below, and added photo comparing two systems. Thanks to Matt Kohut for having the systems and the camera.
    T400
Short answer - the batteries are the same on T61 and R61 14.1" widescreen:
    4-cell: Flush
    6, 7, 9-cell: Sticks out
(Note: The 7-cell battery is actually replaced by the 9-cell now)
    Long answer:
Length sticking out back of system:
    4-cell: 0 inches (1.57 inches deep)
    6-cell: 1 inch (2.57 inches deep)
    7-cell: 1.08 inches (2.65 inches deep)
    9-cell: 1.47 inches (3.04 inches deep)
    Part number:
    4-cell: 41U3196
    6-cell: 41U3198
    7-cell: 41U3197
    9-cell: 43R2499
    Capacity in Wattage-hours:
    4-cell: 37.44
    6-cell: 56.16 50% longer run-time than 4-cell
    7-cell: 74.88 100% longer run-time than 4-cell, 33% longer than 6-cell
    9-cell: 84.24 125% > 4-cell, 50% > 6-cell, 12.5% > 7-cell
Important note about 9-cell on T400: As some of you have noted, this battery is uniquely shaped as shown in the photo below. This was done to allow for the increased run-time of the 9-cell battery while still fitting in all of our docking stations. Note that we are no longer offering the 7-cell battery for purchase with new systems and it will not be something offered going forward, you may still be able to purchase it from your local Lenovo teams or resellers/business partners. Contact them directly to find out.
Note: These pictures are of a T61, but you get the idea...
    6-cell T61 on top, 9-cell T400 on bottom
    T500
Short answer - the batteries are the same on T61 and R61 15.4" widescreen/14.1" standard:
    6-cell: Flush
    9-cell: Sticks out
    Long answer:
Length sticking out back of system:
    6-cell: 0 inches (2.3 inches deep)9-cell: 0.83 inches (3.13 inches deep)
    Part number:
    6-cell: 40Y6799
    9-cell: 40Y6797
    Capacity in Wattage-hours:
    6-cell: 56.16
    9-cell: 84.24 50% longer runtime than 6-cell

The part number for my 6-cell battery that I received on my system configuration differs than the one that you have listed.
     42V9338   SBB 6 CELL LI-ION BATERRY
Could it be that T61 batteries are backwards compatible with the T400 and that the T400 also has new batteries?
From looking at the lenovo site to order the T400 it does suggest that 6 cell sticks out but I feel that it could be one of the many errors (although many have been fixed) on the site.
If you look at tabook.pdf the T61 with a 6 cell has a depth of 10.2 inches whereas the T400 with a 6cell has a depth of 9.4 inches suggesting that the 6cell on the T400 would sit fairly flush with the back of the notebook.  I find it hard to believe that the T400 with a 4cell battery has a depth of 8.5 or so inches.
Any further information would be appreciated

  • Screen is sticking out...?

Okay, this is kind of hard to explain, but I'll try.
So basically, a basketball hit the back of my screen (I know... but it wasn't my fault), and now on the bottom it's kind of bulging out. In the middle, the screen sticks out over the casing; also, when I lower or raise the screen, it occasionally flickers.
I have no clue what to do; should the whole LCD be replaced? Could someone just kind of... push it back in? (Unlikely, I know.) The gist of it is, I'm very confused about what I should do / who I should contact.
    Thanks!

Your LCD screen was damaged. It's kind of misuse, so I don't think you can be covered by apple care, if you have it.
If you have further question or need help, you can send me an email. I'm glad to reply your email.

  • Taking Out The SIM Card Wears Out The SIM Tray

I wanted to take the SIM tray out of my (black) iPhone 3G just to check the SIM card out. It slightly wears out the area around the hole on the SIM tray to do that, it looks exactly what would happen to cheap plastic. Did anyone else remove the SIM card from their iPhone 3G? Which color is it? Does it look a little weared out after doing that? I'm a little *****d off, I just got my iPhone 3G and if I want to take out the SIM tray, I have to wear it out a little? Is the plastic really that cheap...?
Do you guys think that there's any way that Apple will let me swap out just the SIM tray for a new tray? Everything else about my iPhone 3G is almost flawless, and I wouldn't want to swap out the whole phone for this. I think that the SIM tray is made out of cheaper plastic than the rest of the phone, which is noticable when you take the tray out. Here's my advice: DON'T TAKE THE SIM TRAY OUT! You'll probably regret it afterwards.

My new iPhone, I could not even find where the sim holder was. I had to search the manual for info and I did not know about the sim extraction tool in the box.
When I knew where the cover was I had to use strong light and my strong reading glasses to see it, it was really that flush.
There was no hole for the sim tool or paper clip that I used, not realising that a sim tool was on the box cover. I had to punch through to reveal the hole and actually break out the sim holder.
Not for the faint hearted with a brand new precious object in hand, but it had to be done and now the hole is very obvious and the aperture is very clear, even with my normal glasses.
