A blackberry used for voice only

Does blackberry make a phone which allows for voice only rather than email right away?  I like the style, design and keyboard layout but can only afford the voice capabilities.
Any particular model(s) you recommend?
Thanks!

HI and Welcome to the Forums!
BB's were designed as communication devices -- blending voice and data communcations into one device. I don't think there is one that eliminates anything that would be useful for email. But, you can check all products here:

  • Using 3G phone for voice only

After purchasing my beloved iPhone 4, I would like to pass my old 3G phone to my wife, who uses voice only, no data. AT&T says the iPhone 3G will not work properly without a data plan and cannot be used for voice only service. Is AT&T correct? Is there another solution?

AT&T correct? Is there another solution?
Yes. AT&T requires a data plan for ALL iphones on their network. There is no other solution, if you want to use the phone on AT&T's network. If you try and use the phone without a data plan attached, they will catch you & bill accordingly for a data plan. They can tell what type of phone is being used from the IMEI number. The phone will work just fine without a data plan & data turned off, however.

  • UC560 for Voice Only

I have a customer that is getting a UC560 which will be used for voice only. The idea is to connect it to a 4500 switch on the voice vlan. So I am wondering what is the best way to do this? Would this be as easy as giving the WAN interface an IP address from the voice vlan on the 4500 and assigning a default route pointing to the vlan interface on the 4500 (.1). For the voicemail and AA to work just add some static routes on the 4500 saying to get to the 10.1.10.1 got to the IP Address of the UC560 WAN interface?
    Thanks for anyhelp,

    Hello,
Does the 4500 have a data vlan IP on it already? You don't really need multiple IPs on the switch unless it is acting as the gateway for the vlans. Even in that case, the UC needs to be the default gateway for the phones.
    The routes look good.
The vlan configuration looks good on the UC.
Configure the trunk ports on the UC and the 4500
You can delete all NAT configurations from the UC. You can remove most of the firewall and ACL settings, there are a few ACLs that should remain, primarily on the voicemail system.
I would recommend leaving the DHCP for the phones on the UC, but if you want to move it off, set option 150 and the default gateway to 10.3.10.5.
    Thanks,

  • Use WRP400 (VoIP Router) for Voice only, and the rest with WRT54GL

Hey there, I hope you are doing great!
The reason of this thread is because I recently moved to a cable ISP and unfortunately had to also change routers in order to take advantage of the VoIP feature (analog phone) they provided me with.
Now, the new router, the WRP400, is very limited feature-wise compared to the custom flashed WRT54GL I used to use with my DSL provider.
Now the WRT54GL does not have any FXS ports, so I obviously can't just plug my cable modem to the WRT54GL. Therefore, I was hoping to achieve a setup similar to this one:
Cable modem => VoIP Router w/ voice only (WRP400) => "Main" router (WRT54GL w/ Tomato)
Is there a way to bridge the WRP400 successfully with the WRT54GL keeping only the voice feature enabled on the VoIP router while the WRT54GL takes care of the rest? (Wireless, WAN, port forwarding, etc)
Thank you very much for your help, and have an awesome day!
    Lev

I am going to provide a few snapshots of the config pages as to make this easier:
    Basic setup page
    Advanced Settings
    Administration Page
Once more, thank you very much for the assistance!

  • The computer I use for Itunes only has XP so I can't use ICloud. My desktop has Vista so I can use it. But I don't want to lose all of what I have on my Iphone 4S and my two Ipads. How can I use the desktop and retain the apps, music, podcasts etc. I have

The computer I use for Itunes (my laptop) only has XP so I can't use ICloud:(
I have a desktop that operates using with Vista.
I downloaded 10.5 and sought to sync my two iphones and two ipads with the desktop in order to use ICloud. However I got warning messages that if I synced with this computer that had none of my extensive library of apps, music, podcasts, etc. would be on it, I would lose it all.
I did authorize the computer. I knew enough to do that but am terrified that I will lose everything that I have accumulated and still won't be able to use ICloud.
Isn't there a way to do this? Shift my library FROM my devices to the desktop?
    Thanks

This is a tedious solution, which is stupid!  And some users report an inability to reauthorize a computer after an "en masse” deauthorization.  I can’t believe Apple doesn’t provide a list or menu to find out which computers you’ve authorized! Obviously, APPLE knows (or else they couldn’t tell us how many computers we have authorized)--so why can’t they give us access to that information about our own computers??!!!
And for an already-authorized computer with a hard drive that’s since been replaced and upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite, would it be recognized as a “new computer” and require authorization? Would its previous incarnation (i.e., with the old hard drive and OS) be considered a separate computer? Some users report they can’t authorize a computer after an OS upgrade because of that. Can’t believe we have to do such a bass-ackwards kludge!

  • Email server - sendmail used for outgoing only?

an earlier poster indicated that sendmail for NT is only used for outgoing emails from the Oracle email server. Is this true? If so I should be able to use the Indigo sendmail for a proof-of-concept (30 free trial). Can't find any free trial for sendmail for NT.
However, the email server IG seems to have me changing the sendmail.cf file to point at the Oracle email system - seems to imply that inbound messages run thru sendmail and are forwarded to Oracle. In which case the Indigo send-only won't work.
What did everyone else do? By a copy of sendmail for NT at $500, or run on unix? Other alternatives?

Would you please confirm what email you are trying to use with iPhoto, you still have not.
Is it an iCloud account or from some other provider?
it would prompt me to set up an iCloud account, which I believe I already have.
To find out if you actually have an iCloud account go to www.icloud.com and try to login.

  • Recording picking up click/clack shoe background noise - how to adjust for voice only.

Hi, and thank you for taking the time to help me.
Today, as a beginner to Adobe Audition, I wanted to record a video with backup audio for my students.
So, I plugged my wireless mic into the computer, opened adobe audition, selected new, and then hit record. Nice & easy.
However, when I played it back, the sound of my shoe going clip/clop on the floorboards as I was walking around, was picked up (and very well too!).
How do I change the settings so the software/microphone only pics up my voice and not other noises?
    Thanks,
    Jane.

Hi There, it's a lapel microphone, clicked on the collar of my shirt.
I've used other audio programs before and this hasn't happened. I started using audition as a recommendation from a friend as he said it would produce a cleaner sound.
    Thank you for your time.
Audition has many merits and many abilities but "producing a cleaner sound" isn't one of them.  The sound you get is determined by a mix of your microphone and the audio interface used to input this into your computer.  Audition simply records the data handed to it by your mic and interface with no additional processing whatsoever.
Most clip on lav mics have an omni pickup pattern which means they pick up equally from every direction.  This makes them fairly susceptible to room acoustics--a harder floor or barer wall could be part of your culprit.
At the risk of sounding facetious...and I don't mean to...have you considered soft soled shoes?

  • HT201407 i have a old iphone 4 i want to use for games only but my apple id and password is gone i cant find it i have tryed several times and cant get in to phone what can  i do

i have iphone 4 I wantr to use just for games but I don't have my password or apple id for phone how do I fully restore it

You go to https://iforgot.apple.com/appleid if you don't remember the ID.
If you know the ID but not the password, you go to https://iforgot.apple.com and reset it.
If you can't do either of those, you call Apple and speak to someone in account security.

  • IPhone 5s with hearing aids via Bluetooth. Need to use the phone for voice, what's the best distance that the mic will pick up your voice

I wear hearing aids that are made for Apple, the audio will go into the hearing aids via Bluetooth. I'll need to use my phone for voice only.. I drive for work and have a wok oh one too and both are synced to a bluetooh headset (LG). I'm trying to figure out how to talk on both phones ( use speakerphone on work phone?) without using a bluretooh headset.  I don't know the range of the microphone on the IPHON, thinking about hanging it around my neck or put the phone into a stand/holder on the dash and use the speakerphone feature.  Looking for ideas to make this simple

You can't do anything with that problem.
Take your iPhone to the closest Apple Store and they will give you new one for 200€/$ or if you bought your iPhone in less than 12 months you will get it for free.

  • Microphone for voice over.

My standalone isight that I have used for voice overs has finally given up. (I'd developed a technique whereby I held the lens to my chin and pointed the isight down at about 45 degrees-but I digress) can anyone recommend a reasonable alternative, around $100 would be reasonable, I'm no pro but it has to be a reasonable quality.
I've bought and tried a microphone a day now for about a week and none match up to my experience with my old isight. I'd prefer one that needs to be close to the source sound so as background noise is not a huge problem and I'd also prefer it to be USB or firewire, I need to take on the guise of a ferret to get to the back of my mac.

I tried the logitech one from the  store, it didn't have the same quality as the isight but I could have lived with that I suppose as it wasn't as bad as some of the others I've tried. I don't know whether I got a faulty one, I don't think I did, because it seemed to work with Quicktime excepting the quality issue, but when I used it with FCE, it was awful.
Not sure if FCE has its own background noise cancelling feature that interfered with the background noise cancelling feature of the logitech but it was way to quiet 90% of the time and when it wasn't it was too loud, there was no middle ground. Overall too quiet, with odd words that were obviously said a little louder being clipped.

  • OD Account for Binding Only?

    Hello,
I'm trying to create an Open Directory account that will be used for binding only.  I'd hate to have to use a full admin account for this.  Has anyone created a bind only account for OD?  Or would any OD account be able to bind?
    Thanks!!
    Dean

I noticed in another post you've installed some sort of ldap browser. Point your browser to dn: olcDatabase={1}bdb,cn=config and see what's already in olcAccess. It'll give you an idea of it's syntax.
As for docs, OD uses openldap as it's ldap component. So just google for openldap acl for syntax help.

  • UC 540 use for only Voice

    Hi Guys,
One of my customer wants to use the UC 560 just for Voice and they dont have any hand held phones, some use soft phones and others use 7925 wireless phones( all together they have only 15 users) and they have a seperated enterprise wireless Network. Now how do we configure this UC just for voice. In their Core switch they have already configured a Vlan for voice and they are already broadcasting voice SSID in their wireless network as well.
    Any ideas...
    Appreciate early replies.

Just found a way that connect any of the LAN port into Data network. DHCP disable pool on UC and add a static route from Core switch to Voice Gateway. I think it should work... Did I miss anything.. anyway let me try!

  • Blackberry Desktop for Mac Is Not Complete - Still Have to Use PC Version Sometimes

Blackberry Desktop for Mac is incomplete in this way - if your OS gets wiped out (as it wants to do upon initial install, as it tries to update your BB OS) - and if it gets hung in the process - as happened to me - then the ONLY way to fix is to go BACK to a PC and use the PC version of Blackberry Desktop.
It's incredible, but that is what I learned.  I installed Blackberry Desktop for Mac.  It  wanted to initiate an OS upgrade first thing.  I allowed it to do so and it wiped out the OS on my Blackberry.  Leaving me with a 507 error.  I called Verizon.  They switched me to Blackberry.  Blackberry said I could only get clear of the 507 error by finding a PC - somewhere - and installing Blackberry Desktop for PC on that PC.
Blackberry then switched me back to Verizon, and they said that since I didn't have a PC, they had to send me a new Blackberry - and they had to charge me for it! (They said that the local Verizon store could not repair the OS).
I refused to pay $50+ for a new phone necessitated by the failure of Blackberry Desktop for Mac to be able to deal with a 507 error.  I spoke to Blackberry Support, again (this was about a 6 hour process), and they admitted that the provider - Verizon - did not support some sort of feature in the OS initialization process, meaning that Blackberry Dektop for Mac could not be used, one has to use Blackberry Desktop for PC no matter what in some circumstances (such as a 507 error upon OS upgrade).
Blackberry switched me back to Verizon.  This time, Verizon stated that the local Verizon store could upload a new OS.  So I shlepped off to the local Verizon store and, another hour later, they installed the new OS.
Once the new OS was installed, Blackberry Desktop for Mac was able to synch and works just fine (much better than PocketMac).  However, my fear is that when the next OS update comes out, if the same thing happens again (i.e., if the OS update freezes again), I will be left having to either look for a PC somewhere to run Blackberry Desktop for PC, or go to the Verizon store.
So, word to the wise.  Blackberry Desktop for Mac is not complete vis-a-vis Verizon.  It cannot be complete if they tell you that you have to use Blackberry Desktop for PC in certain circumstances.
    Gary

This is often the problem with the new features that Apple implement more and more for each functionalities and moving them to "the cloud" (iCloud).
Thus physically removing the files from the Mac makes the BBDM (logically) unable to sync with no-more existing files on the computer...
This is the case currently for the address book and iCal. I guess that new functionalities in iTunes might have the same effect. Haven't you enabled new features recently in iTunes?
    Like "iTunes match" for example?...
Please don't forget to mark as "solved" if your question is replied and to "like" a useful reply to your post ;-)
