A blank white rectangle appears infront of loading pages, forced to click it closed. How to remove these blanks from happening?

I click a link and while page is loading, a single wide blank rectangle with an x in the upper right corner pops up. I am forced to close it by clicking the X. I cannot click on the desired 'loaded page' that sits behind the blank box at all. This happens throughout the day, everyday for the last 3 months. So annoying. I am not computer savvy. I took a pic for you to see, but I cannot figure out how to send it to you.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

Strange white rectangles appear behind "menu commands"

When I hover over the menu commands in Photoshop or Illustrator (both CS2), white rectangles appear behind the Menu Commands and so cluttering the otherwise nice GUI. As I experienced this before on another computer but still have no clue what is going wrong could someone give me a clue what's going on here? I am using Windows XP Service Pack 2.

from your description it SOUNDS like it might be a display driver issue, but it's hard to tell. a screen shot might help someone nail it.
might as well try updating your video driver to see if there's anything newer out there than what you're currently running.

Idvd loads every time after log on. how do i stop this from happening.

If it appears in the Dock, control-click it and uncheck Open at Login. Otherwise, open the Accounts pane of System Preferences and remove it as well as anything which may launch it from the list of login items for your user account.

Don't rely upon Time Machine to the exclusion of all else. I compliment Time Machine with a periodic "clone". TM is much better than nothing, but it's a safety net, not a hammock
Here is my understanding of Time Machine's file deletion algorithm, distilled from Pondini's FAQ, Apple's KB articles, and my own observations.
Time Machine deletes ("thins") files from the backup disk as follows:
Hourly backups over 24 hours old, except the first backup of the day
Daily backups over 30 days old, except the first backup of the week
Older backups get deleted when Time Machine requires space and you deleted them from the source disk.
Therefore, assuming TM has been performing at least one backup per day, backup files will remain available:
at least thirty days, if they existed on your Mac for at least a day
until you run out of space, if they existed on your Mac for at least a week
In addition to the above, Time Machine always keeps one complete copy of your source disk so that the entire volume could be restored if necessary. Any files that remain on your source volume will be present on the TM backup, no matter how old they are.
If you are using 250 GB of space on your source disk, its Time Machine backups are likely to require at least twice that much. A good estimate of the minimum required backup volume size would be about three times the size of your source disk - 1.5 TB in your case.
A more thorough explanation would require Pondini since he has plumbed Time Machine's mysteries far more than I have.

Certain sites do not load properly. I have to click the Stop loading page button, the click reload page to fully load the site.

Using Firefox 6.0.1 on Windows XP SP3. When I navigate to certain sites (nytimes.com for example), Firefox loads most of the page, but some graphics are missing and the green circle in the tab keeps spinning. Typically I have to click the Stop Loading Page button, then click the Reload Page button to get Firefox to load the remaining items in the website. Seems to get stuck with images.

White rectangle appears on exported Gif Rollover

Hi, I'm on FW CS3 and DW CS3 (Using Intel iMac). I'm
exporting a simple Gif rectangular rollover from FW into
Dreamweaver. While I'm not a web expert, I've done plenty of
rollover navigation graphics in Fireworks. The browser preview of
the rollover looks good in FW, but when I export it to Dreamweaver,
it technically works but I get a white rectangle at the bottom of
the graphic when I rollover with the mouse - a white triangle which
I do not want to be there.
I've tried various differences in positioning my slice in FW
and I've tried Dreamweaver Html and switching to Generic Html in
case that made any difference. Neither change helped.

What I've done is this:
Take your Fireworks image, where you have the rounded
rectangle vector object (and text and whatever else on your
background color) and export (Image>Preview, not Save) that to a
PNG 24, but save it with a different file name or in a different
folder.
Hmm...I've JUST realized there's a slightly easier way!
Okay...open this flattened image. Go to Modify>Canvas>Canvas
Color and set that to transparent.
Select the magic wand selection tool. In the Properties
palette, set the tolerance to 0. Click in one of the corners, then
press your Delete key. That portion of your image will become
transparent. Do the same for the other corners.
Now export to GIF format and make sure to select Alpha
Transparency so that your corners come out, well, transparent.

Doesn't load page after a click. Need to hit refresh or re-click the the selection

I think after this latest update, when i make a selection, If a new tab opens it starts loading but does nothing. If a new tab is not opened, firefox just sits there doing nothing. i have to click the button again or hit refresh. This happens about 50% of all browsing selections. Very scary if this happens when i've made a selection to buy something with credit card... if i click again might it make 2 payments?? it's very annoying.

It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. I get a message when going to any webpage "server not found" or "problem loading page". I click on try again and the page loads fine. This happens on bookmarked pages or manually entered urls. The issues started after I updated Firefox.

Server not found messages and problem loading page message since I updated to the latest version of Firefox. Usually will load the 2nd time after hitting the try again option.
Does not happen with Internet Explorer at all.

How to remove farm account from Application Discovery and Load Balancer Service Application

    Using Sharpoint 2010 Server I think the reason
the User Profile Synchronization would stop is because somehow the farm
account was registered as a managed account. So I removed the farm
account from all services that ran under the farm account so that I could
run Remove-SPManagedAccount or click the Remove icon in manage service accounts
and then unregisted farm account as a managed account.
   But before I can run Remove-SPManagedAccount I need to remove it from one more
service account that uses the farm account which is:
    "Application Discovery and Load Balanceer Service Account".
    However, nothing seems to remove it from there.
    I tried :
"get-spserviceapplication | where {$_.TypeName -match "Application Discovery and Load Balancer Service Application"}
    and then
"stop-spserviceinstance "dde7fbef-b068-4687-bedb-f67230efab5a"
    amongst a host of other methods so that I could ultimately
unregister farm account as a managed account.
    But no matter what I do when I try to remove the farm account from Application Discovery
and Load Balancer Service Application
and then unregister the farm account as a managed account a message always says
"Application Discovery and Load Balancer Service Application" is using the farm account
as its service account.
    What can I do to free the farm account from Application Discovery and Load Balancer Service Application?

The Farm Account is always a Managed Account and can never be "unmanaged". You don't have to set the automatic password roll.

When I open some images, blank white boxes appear on the image past a certain zoom point in random locations. This does not show up in the tools though (liquify, camera filter, ect). how do i stop this from happening?

It happens mostly at random, but once it shows up on an image, even if i close and re open it it will still show up. if i zoom out far enough it will disappear, but as soon as i zoom back in again it will reappear. its never in the same spot on different images and never the same size. i was already on with tech support and they deleted my settings folder which seemed to fix it for a short time (like a week), does anyone know what is causing this or how to fix it?

it may have worked, but gimping my system isn't exactly a solution, more of a band-aid.

What do you mean "it may have worked" – did it or did it not?
Anyway it is not a remedy but diagnostics and if it makes a difference it points at the GPU driver as a likely culprit.

i deleted the rdf and now the first window only (and any tabs in it) are maximised. i found this in the rdf

i tried changing normal to maximised; no effect. either i need also to change the numbers (to match a maximised window) or ff ignores this. i want to be able to open different sites in different windows, and not have to maximise them manually. ff never used to be broken, why break this? what possible security flaw was fixed by screwing up ff to never open maximised unless u hack it or delete certain config files?
