A bug in the sound system?

I found a funny thing in the iPod functionality of my iPhone 3GS with software 3.0.1.
I synced a movie, I converted myself with ffmpeg (ffmepg rulez!!!) to the iPhone. The converted movie played well in QuickTime nad VLC on my iMac, but if I play it on my iPhone, there is no sound. Strangely enough, not only the movie has no sound, but after playing that movie, no sounds are played in the iPod application anymore at all. No MP3s, no podcasts, no videocasts, nothing. Even the ringtone is totally silent. The tone for text messages, emails, calendar events, key-click, lock sounds and sound from other apps (like games) play well. But no iPod, and no ringtone.
To solve this problem, I had to restart the iPhone (hold power button until the red slider appears, and switch back on) with the headphones connected.
I don't know, if this happens with 3.0.
The behaviour is reproducible, just play the "buggy" video.
If anyone is interested for what reasons ever, I can post the ffmpeg params I used to convert the video.
Funny thing, I'd be glad if Apple could fix this.
And I for myself will start looking for more suitable encoding parameters for my videos.

Hi, I don't play videos on my iPhone, but i also thing there is something wrong with the sound... Some times it just disappear, when i receive phone call I see on the screen that someone is calling, but no sound. The same happened with the alarm clock. I was awake already and look to see what time is it, it had the message ALARM, but no sound at all...
After restarting it seems to be ok for few days. Is it possible to be from overheating ( I have a silicon case ) ? Or is it a normal bug in the phone itself?

Trying to understand the sound system
Here's my problem. My mic didn't work (neither the front mic nor the line-in in the rear), so after some research and trial and error I found that if I do
modprobe soundcore
my mic works on both the jacks

So as you can see, soundcore's already loaded, so why do I have to explicitly load it again to get the mic to work?
Once I add soundcore to my MODULES array and reboot, the lsmod output is also the same as above.
So my question is -- what does the explicit loading of soundcore do, that is not done by auto-loading of that module?Oh... since your topic is Trying to understand the sound system, that puts you (and me) inside the whole world's population... chuckle. But I thought I'd pass along a document written by probably "The" main ALSA developer that I totally stumbled across just 3 days ago.

Should I put the Apple TV next to the video proj and send the sound wirelessly to the sound system but how to do this from an optical output? Or I can put it next to the sound system and send wirelessly the HD video signal but I have not found a solution unde 100+$ and people seem to be complaining. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Resolution
Most small cameras, including those in every generation of iPhone, may exhibit some form of flare at the edge of the frame when capturing an image with out-of-scene light sources. This can happen when a light source is positioned at an angle (usually just outside the field of view) so that it causes a reflection off the surfaces inside the camera module and onto the camera sensor. Moving the camera slightly to change the position at which the bright light is entering the lens, or shielding the lens with your hand, should minimize or eliminate the effect.

Hello! I have a macbook pro 2009. A few days ago I accidentally spillover a very little amount of coffe on it. For this my keyboard went in to collapse, the "shift" it is glued and a lot of keys dead. I buy a external keyboard for the time being because repair a mac is expensive. I need save money first.
My real problem is the sound system, initially later of the coffe episode, all less the keyboard are all right. yesterday I falling sleep listen music with my mac and external speakers. In the night the machine turn off and when I wake up the sound never worked again. The mac dont recognizes or external speakers or integrated sound. My doubt is, there anything I can do for the time being for solve the sound problem. Just downloaded OS 10.9. hoped it would fix bugs from the last version. now I can't use my Epson perfection 4870 scanner. Cehcked with Epson. They say the software is an Apple update. checked with Apple-No Go.
For now my Scanner just won't work. I'm surprised Apple would introduce new OS material -free- which compromises a good vendor like Epson.nope, Barney.
My issue is a large amount of money spent over many years on computers for my company, myself, wife and sons. Got an investment here
The company I favor, Apple sent me a message that they have a wonderful new Maverick operating system.
I send documents back and forth to friends and people to do business. Hoped maverick would fix the bugs from Leopard.
With Maverick system, my main document sender, Epson perfection 4870 and its software doesn't work anymore, or so it seems to me.
Checked with Apple, very apologetic, they can't help, maybe it will be fixed in a couple of days...
Epson, referred me to Apple...
I still ccouldn't send documents.

I didn't know that- not in the Apple help area, can't find it in their manual, their help line couldn't give me a clue to something as obvious as this
So, lot of money over the years. Plenty of smart, well compensated folks writin code at both companies. I can't keep up with tit all, they don't keep up with each other.
Bottom line Apple releases a product that doesn't work well for a lot of little people like me. Maybe some clear expanation would help re:Macjack..
I certainly don't understand all the ins and outs of a zillion dollar computer behemoth business model. Do know this though, If I ran my business like this customers would go somewhere else and some would probably sue me.

HP updated my BIOS and now the sound system doesn't work on Dv76012Tx.
HP Care / Support Assistant requested to update my BIOS, which I did. Computer restarted a couple of times then I found my sound system doesn't work. My computer is Dv7-6012Tx and it is just a week old. I now get no sound, and it had been working beautifully.
Please reset my BIOS back to how it was.Had the same problem as of about 30 minutes ago. New BIOS update, sound doesn't work. Drivers all read as up-to-date. What the hell?

Have you checked System Preferences/Sound/Output to see if it is set to Internal Speakers and to make sure the Mute checkbox isn't checked?

When I had 10.6.8, itunes would have a left over amount in itunes apps, it would show you would have 8 apps that need to be updated. I would got to up date them and there would be no apps to up date. 2 days later I would go to up date apps and it would show I have 15 apps to update when I really have 6 then it would add on more invisable apps to which is not there. There is a bug in itunes that needs to be fixed please fix this app section. I have sent letters about this before and you did not listen. I a beta tester and I hate it when my requests don't get fixed.
You are on Windows 2000, you do not have a "Firefox" button, and should consider yourself to be fortunate in that you still have menus and don't have to do anything to get the menus back instead of the "Firefox" button. (The same applies to Windows XP users).
Use the "File" menu to get to Import. You are not on Windows 7 or Vista, and don't have to put up with the nonsense added for Aero.
If you want the "Firefox" button you can get it with View -> toolbars -> (uncheck) Menu Bar. The menu bar and the "Firefox" button were supposed to be mutually exclusive (which is impossible in some cases without being incompatible).
Once you are using the "Firefox" button ...
Use the "Alt" key to view the menu bar (temporarily) containing File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help. On Windows 7 and Vista, the menu bar was hidden by default in Firefox 4 and above. These menu items are more or less available under the "Firefox" button which has the most used of the built-in Firefox menu items available in a different format.
To get back to having menus again. "Firefox" button -> Options (second column) -> (check) Menu Bar

i was having problems with my phone so i went into the apple store and it turns out there was a problem with my operating systerm so i got an update in the store. I want to get my contacts and my pictures back from my old iphone but when I was in the apple shop the man told me to start the phone as a new phone instead of restoring it from an earlier back up as i could get the bug back once restored, is there any way for me to get my pictures and contacts back without restoring it and getting the bug? You should restore from the back up so you can get the info back on your device. Then, what you can do is import those pictures to your computer.
At that point, you'll want to restore again as new possibly, then once your phone is as new, use iTunes to sync those picture from your computer back to your phone.
As far as contacts, do you know if those were ever backed up to iCloud? If so, all you should need to do is sign in with you iCloud account. -

What is the best way to connect my laptop to a sound system?
Hi I use my laptop to run videos and sound tracks for our church. I am all taken care of as far as the video. My problem is with hooking up the sound from my Or any PC to the sound system. I am within 10 feet of the 32 channel sound mixer for the sound system. If we use the earphone jack with adapters to input to a channel on the sound board the sound is poor and has a slight hum. I think there has to be a better way because I see singers using their laptops for sound tracks and getting good clear sound. Would someone HELP me please ? Thanks
I'd think about going with an external USB sound device, leaving the signal as digital for the major length of the cable run, then the USB box then only a short run of analog, which could then be with some cable that has better noise rejection than most cables with mini-headphone plugs.

Probably overkill, but that's the idea I'd go for. Plenty of other boxes that'll do the job. That box at least would let you use 1/4" patch cables, there are probably others that would let you go with XLR. -
My ipod touch stopped playing videos and music for the past three days rest all are working fine.
I doubt the sound system is gone. i tried restoring it several times. I havent mishandled it. Few days back there was audio distortion and slowness so i upgraded to the iOS 5 but the audio/ video doesnt work. Alerts ,sounds ... donot work..Please help me out...Try a restore to factory defaults/new iPod. If still problem then you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I don't see how to find an existing case in CRM 5.0. I'm trying to link a service ticket to an existing case I know 5.0 required some additional configuration to assign Case profile in CRMC_IC_MAIN and I created the case profile in config ICWC > bus
