A bug is walking around inside my screen! Possible to clean?

Yesterday I saw a bug walking around happy inside my 24". I got livid as I can do nothing about it but watching it crawling around inside.
So, is there any way to clean this out? I've read posts stating the screen is possible to take of using some sucking device and pull it off (just like the iMac). Is it easy to put back in? Is this even true?
I really can't live with this bug, even if it dies it will probably just stay there.
And I thought it was air-tight.

I have the same problem but more bugs.
There is a type of fly in the uk that arrives with stormy weather. They are called 'Thunder flies' and are black, around 2 mm long by 0.2mm wide - do you know them? I have 3 of them walking around the inside of my 1 month old 24" screen. It is being collected tomorrow and then being cleaned and sent back to me. I have raised a concern regarding this problem if it happens outside warranty as I can see it happening again. At the moment is is not clear whether it is a seal problem (seal may have not been fitted correctly) or a design problem where there is an open path from the outside to the back of the screen.

Don't know what to say about this. Looks like a gnat walking around inside. Can't take a screen shot of it. Hopefully it will fall to the bottom when it dies.

Apple quality control is not that good nowadays, I heard several issues about this iMac27, and at least was not a dead pixel.
A random hair and what you read on these forums isn't NOT indicative of the millions of machines Apple sells.

  • Bug walking around inside my monitor

When I first told my son, he thought I was referring to some type of s/w bug. Then I showed him a small gnat-sized insect roaming around the monitor behind the layer that the image is projected onto. I don't know much about the LCD technology or design, but I doubt insects have much to do with it.
Has anyone else seen or heard of a similar experience with the iMac monitors?

I recently had a small insect on my screen. I thought it was on the outside of the screen, so smushed it. It was smushed inside the layers and now I have an ugly spot on my monitor. I took it to the local Apple store where I have a ProCare membership and had them perform an annual checkup, specifically mentioning the spot. They gave it back the next day saying they couldn't do anything about it. Believe me, I don't keep any food or any thing which would attract them any where near my computer - I'm very reverent about that. So what can I do? I'm about to take the 'puter apart and see if I can blow it out. Think the Apple guys gave up too soon. This spot on my bright screen sticks out like a sore thumb!!! Anyone taken theirs apart to try something like this?

  • Game: character walks around and stops walking when hits a hole

    Hi
I have a game where the character walks around the screen and stops if she hits a wall or a hole etc... - typical. HOWEVER - I coudn't get her to stop walking. Is there any standard code for this. If you tell to stop walking then she can't walk back out either etc... Also, she walked into the hole a little so being in the hole she definately couldn't walk any more not even back out as she would be walking inside the prohibited zone.

typically the character movieclip would play (to display walking animation) and the background or character would move (to convey the character's movement within the game).
stopping the character's animation requires only a stop() applied to the character movieclip and stopping the character from moving requires some other movieclip be stopped or some tween stopped or some code adjusted.

  • Hairline Crack appeared on Z1 from walking around!

Hi, does anyone know if there is some fault with the Z1. I have a hairline crack that has appeared from walking around, sitting or something. It has not been dropped, or misused or anything like that. I'm having to pay for it to be repaired but I'm wondering if this is a fault on the handset due to it's nature of style.
It's certainly put me off buying sony products again as I feel that having a phone in your pocket and the screen crackinging, is not accidental damage, but a fault on the handset (I'm sure others will disagree).
Anyway, is this a common problem?

  • I had completed my iDVD project and burned a disc. It worked great! Then someone messed with the project and put a red frame around the opening screen. Now when I burn the project, it no longer has the opening frame. How can I fix?

I had completed my iDVD project, a Wedding Slideshow with pictures and music, and burned it on a disc. It worked great! Then someone messed with the original project on my computer and clicked around and put a red frame around the opening screen that has the Wedding theme with music. Now when I burn the project to make more DVDs, it burns but no longer has the opening frame. It immediately opens to the iMovie slideshow. How can I fix so I can burn the entire project with opening frames?

As Bengt suggested make a disk image of the successfully burned DVD using Disk Utility. Then you can burn copies any time you need one.
In the future once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
You can then burn it to disk with Disk Utility at the slowest speed available to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatium, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

So what do you want us to do? Apple has already told you and there is nothing anyone here can do about your problem as no one here works for Apple.

  • Is it okay to walk around with "MacBook"

we just got wireless internet and my mom just walked back to my room and showed me a video on "you" "tube" & i was wondering if it hurts the laptop to be carried while its in use?
and can i get some more tips on taking care of our new "macbook"
    thanks =)

Its NOT a good idea to walk around with you Apple MB running IF you're walking down the halls of the Microsoft Campus. Hey, its not safe to drink coffee while using your MB also IF you are going to turn the cup upside down while it's over the keyboard.
Otherwise, its a question of how safe you want to be. I've been walking around my home with every laptop I've ever owned without ANY problems. The only thing you have to be aware of is that you're getting "out on the edge" if you were to trip and end up toss the MB at the same time. ANYTIME I carry my MB and especially while it's running, I'm especially careful about where I'm stepping and other surrounding that might make me drop it if I were to bump into them.
Life's too short to never take a teeny step out on the edge.
Another thing to consider. Most laptops are built pretty sturdy. A few years ago I had an IBM Thinkpad that was a pretty good notebook, but like all of them, it came time to get a better one. So I advertised in on Craigslist, made a contact to sell and while I was waiting for the buyer to come over to pick it up, it fell off my kitchen counter and bounced on the hardwood floor. I figured it was toast, but I went ahead and turned it on and it booted right up. Not a ding one on it. I sold the computer with a 2 week guarantee and never heard from my buyer again so I assume there no damage that I didn't notice.
So, live a little and carry it around when you want to share something with your family or friends and I doubt you'll ever have a problem.
As far as the Apple warning about moving while the computer is on, that's their lawyer talk. Same as the warning about not using a hairdryer in the bathtub.

  • How to clean the dust inside the screen of the iPod Touch?

    Hi everybody,
lately some dust entered inside the screen of my iPod Touch.
At first it looked like one or two pixels were gone bad, but it is just some annoying dust.
The problem is that I cannot figure out any way to remove it.
I tried a gentle blow from the connector hole but the result was worse.
Any idea on how to clean the screen inside?
I hope it is not necessary to go to an Apple Center and pay for the "cleaning service".
    Regards,
    Andrea

    It sounds safe to use
'Falcon's® "Professional" Dust-Off® "XL" compressed-gas is the perfect product for removing dust from your color transparencies before making scans or copy slides; it's also great for removing dust from cameras, lenses, computers and other electronic equipment. Each 12 oz. disposable can comes with its own trigger value and a 4.75" nozzle extension (a red tube) that allows you to place precise bursts of compressed air just where you want it.'
Check the directions on the back... also check the contents. Normally anything like that will inform you of contaminants harmful to delicate electrical devices.
If its just compressed air make sure you keep the can well back from the source.. and unplug the G5 (take it somewhere you don't mind dust.. there no point doing this in situe, just for it to suck it back in again!)
Also.. as mentioned.. keep the can upright (as the air is decompressed the can gets very cold)

Does the ext directory have the php_oci8.dll? In the original steps the PHP dir is renamed. In the given php.in the extension_dir looks like it has been updated correctly. Since PHP distributes php_oci8.dll by default I reckon there would be a very good chance that the problem was somewhere else. Since this is an old thread I don't think we'll get much value from speculation.

  • Dust Particles inside the Screen of my iPhone!! Help?

Hello my name is John and well I have one problem. I am starting to get DUST PARTICLES inside the screen of my iPhone!! At first I wasn't bothered much but then the amount increased, and well now, when in sunlight, it is starting to get annoying! Any suggestions on how to free my iPhone of dust particles? Anyone????

I have gone to BOTH Apple and AT&T and they have said that they cannot do anything about it, AT&T said that they didn't know, and said to take it to Apple, and Apple said, "you can try compressed air to see if you can get it out".

If another person or company serviced your iPad, your warranty has been voided.  Apple will do an out-of-warranty exchange.  Have you contacted the original service provider, and complained?
