A Bunch of Jive?
Hey Everyone,
I'm sort of considering upgrading my G5 with one of these:

The idea of loading it up with a bunch of big, extra drives is very appealing. But I'm wondering if anyone has real experience with this system and if the G5 can actually deal with it. What do you think?

So I had a number of G5 towers sitting around after a transition to Mac Pro's. Decided one of them could be repurposed as a backup machine if only I could squeeze some more disks in there to get the storage. Searching around for ways to add more disks to the G5 tower, I came across the Sonnet G5 Jive, purportedly able to add three additional drives to your G5. I did my research, found all good reviews, checked out Sonnets page for the G5 Jive (http://www.sonnettech.com/product/g5_jive.html), and confirmed it should be a go. I even bought Western Digital drives as recommended on their page - and thinking about how smart I was being, I bought their Green drives which are supposed to pull more power than regular drives. I should note I bought TB disks - they are cheap enough and common enough now that it made sense.
I installed it all - easy enough - and went to power it on. The G5 hummed for about 2 seconds before powering down. Huh. Checked all my connections and then tried again. Same hum, same powering down. Disconnected the Jive, then tried again - all okay, powered up. So, it was the Jive. Maybe I'd made bad connections, so I disconnected then reconnected everything. Same problem, two seconds of power, then gone.
Called Sonnet. They always seemed to be a good company in my mind. After some hold time I got on the phone with a fairly gruff sounding guy - no niceties here! After explaining what had happened, and giving him all my info, he put me on hold again to chat with a colleague. And then came back on and confirmed that I was using TB drives. Yes. Well there, apparently, is the problem. When developing the Jive, Sonnet claimed that there were only 500GB & 750GB drives to test with and that they had never tested with 1TB drives. Never?! Nope...decided not to test them when 1TB drives became commonplace either. Turns out, 1TB drives pull too much power. And they acted like it was my fault for even trying to use TB drives!
So now I am stuck with 5 1TB drives, a Sonnet G5 Jive and a Sonnet Tempo SATA X4i PCI card - well over $1k worth of kit - and can't use it. I told the support guy they need to keep testing their products and updating their product pages as they find information out like this. We'll see how quickly they fix this. It's messed up I tell ya. So...if you are hoping to use this to expand your G5 with some modern hard drives - don't. It just doesn't work :-/ Sonnet has now become 'The Worst Company Ever' in my book.

The easiest and most efficient way to copy your music is to follow the steps under the External drive section. Make sure that you have organized the iTunes library first before you copy it over. Then put the copied iTunes folder in the same Music folder on your computer.

My iphone 4s will no longer sync music from my music library on my Macbook Pro. I also have a bunch of songs that now have a red circle with a box in it next to the song on my phone and those songs will not play. They are present in my itunes library and I can play them on my Mac but they will not play on my iphone. I have tried unchecking all the music and applying those changes and syncing and it does nothing. All the same music remains on my phone, unchanged. Help! What do I do? I have read to uninstall iTunes and reinstall it but will I lose all my music?

When is select Bookmarks from the Menu Bar, at the very bottom are a bunch of bookmarks. How can I move these in groups to a folder or folders?
The easiest way to move bookmarks around is in the Bookmarks Organizer, which at some point was renamed the Library. To open it, you can choose Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks or press Ctrl+Shift+b.
(Please note that the sort order of the Library dialog doesn't actually carry over to the menu. To sort the menu alphabetically, it's easiest to open the Bookmarks Sidebar, right-click the words Bookmarks Menu and choose Sort by Name.) -
I recently downloaded a bunch of songs and ringtones to my iPhone 4 and when I synced my phone to my computer to back up the files and to charge the phones the ringtones and songs were gone. They disappeared from my phone and from my iTunes as well. I checked my my iTunes for downloadable items and there was nothing there. I went onto iTunes and tried to download the same things that I had previously and when I did it said I had already downloaded them? iTunes only gave me the option to purchase the music and ringtones again. Does this happen often or is there something wrong with the software on my iPhone?

I purchased a bunch of songs on my iPhone but they are not showing up on it my computer.
I purchased a bunch of songs recently on my iPhone but they are not showing up in iTunes on my computer. They have always shown up in the past but these few haven't. I usually do a manual upload and backup of my phone, as opposed to doing it via icloud.
In the meantime, I went to the purchases for my account and see that they are listed there and I hit "report a problem". But it doesn't even ask me what the problem is....
Is there anything else I can do?Go to View->Account and verify you're logged into the same AppleID as the iPhone
Then go to iTunes->Preferences->Store and verify that "Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases" is checked. -
In iTunes a bunch of songs show up under the wrong artist no matter what I do
My iTunes library has an odd glitch - there's a bunch of songs that show up under the group "a-ha" despite having nothing to do with a-ha. They don't seem to have anything else in common, either. None of them has an album artist listed and they are all stored the same way on my hard drive (in a folder for the artist and sub-folder for the album). Everything shows up correctly on my iPod, but nothing I can do puts them under the correct artist in iTunes on my desktop. So for example, iTunes doesn't show The Big Bopper as an artist but if I go into Artist: a-ha I find "Hello Baby" as an album and Chantilly Lace is in it. But when I click on info for that track it shows The Big Bopper as the artist, no mention of a-ha in any field I can find. Does anyone have a clue what this is about? I've tried adding the mis-filed artists' folders to the library again but noithing changes.

I'm trying to get organized and I just added a bunch of books and pdfs to my itunes library. They were all added immediately to my ipad and iphone even though I did not want this. I added them to itunes using add to library and I have both devices set to sync only selected books.
How do I do this in the future so this doesnt happen? Its a lot of work to now manually erase them from each device and it sent my phone over capacity.
thanksI dont see the difference in the posts. I dont think theres anything inaccurate or misleading about what I wrote. The items were immediately added to my ipad and my iphone, even though I have them both set to sync only select items. As soon as I added new titles to my itunes library, they were immediately added to the devices. Not on the next sync. Immediately. Both devices were plugged into the computer at the time. Sorry if I failed to mention they were plugged in but I dont see the signifigance youre making out of it. The problem persists anyway.
Now that I did a test without the devices plugged in, the new items were still added as soon as I plugged my devices into the computer ( I do not have them set to sync over wifi).
Since I have both devices set to manually select items to sync, of course I want to manually select new items to sync. For instance, I am not going to read any of these magazines or books on my phone, ever, and I dont want to waste valuable space with them.
So I'm trying your advice:
I just tried deselecting sync books. It erased all content from ibooks on my device. I then dragged
one title onto the device, and it just goes back to syncing select books, with the one title selected.
It appears that wont work to solve my issue. The next time I add something to itunes it will be put on my phone. Is this really something most people want? To select to manualy control what content is synced, but then have things automatically added. It seems inconsistent to me. -
When I use Firefox, I usually have a bunch of tabs open. Sometimes I have a tab open as a reminder to look further into the subject, or I plan on going back to it to finish reading whatever it was. Before, if my computer would restart due to updates, when I started Firefox up again, it would say "Well...this is embarrassing" and allow me to reopen all the tabs I once had. This no longer works. I was even able to close Firefox through the Task Manager on windows, and have the same result. Now this doesn't happen. So I tried to close it and it asked to save my tabs for the next time I open Firefox. It doesn't save them, as it's always just my homepage and I never see an option to recall the old tabs. I even set the settings to "When Firefox starts: Show my windows and tabs from last time." This also does not work. I'm getting tired of having to remember all over again what sites I had up. Usually they aren't something that I need bookmarked, so that's why I don't do it. Also, it would really clutter my bookmarks if I did. Please help.
Thanks for the reply. I never get the option to "Restore Previous History" from History. I don't even have the box checked that asks to delete the history when Firefox closes. I don't know what's wrong, no matter what, I always lose everything. I have the box marked "Show my windows and tabs from last time" for when I open Firefox, but it never shows that, just my homepage. Also, when I check my History, it only shows the pages that I opened since I started Firefox, nothing from before. Even if I were to open up 10 pages now, close Firefox, and open it, the history would only show the homepage that opened this time, not any of the 10 pages that I opened 5 minutes ago.

Need help removing a bunch of objects added at runtime via a timer
Hi. After adding an image to the stage, turning it into a Movie clip, and setting linkage in library to Export for Actionscript, I'm now using a timer to add a bunch of roses to the stage as a video plays.
How can I get rid of all these clips once the video is over?
Do I need to add all of them into an extra container and then just removeChild that container at the end?
Or do I need to use something like getNumberOfChildren and then create a loop that removes them one by one?
The clips (myRose) are fairly small and do not have any event listeners added to them. I just use TweenMax to move them from top to bottom of the screen.

I've got the configuration set to save my tabs when I close firefox and to reopen those tabs when I start firefox again. That part is now working correctly BUT I also get a whole bunch of additional firefox windows (not tabs, totally separate windows), blank. I've counted, and actually had almost 70 of these to close once. The number seems to vary depending on how many tabs I had open in the session I closed (I think anyway). It's a royal pain to have to close all those additional windows. Help! Thanks in advance.

Creating a "bunched" report (intercompany)

I have a tricky report requirement that can be achieved using multiple reports but that is not ideal and will make it difficult to maintain.
The report is an intercompany report with Entity, Interco member and Account in the rows. The report needs to have Entity on the outside with each intercompany partner listed and then a subtotal for each intercompany member and then each entity member. Within each intercompany member, a "group" of accounts needs to be shown (intercompany account groups). Finally, a subtotal for the total of an account group needs to be shown beneath all the entities and intercompany, then this is repeated for a new account group, as follows:
Is this possible with one report? I'm open to using VBA or any other tricks to turn this into one report. The current problem is that the Entity and intercompany need sorting, but if they are sorted then the accounts will not be bunched together as shown above.

SOMETHING GONE AWRY WITH A BUNCH OF GIFS ON MY PAGE. PLEASE HELP ME.
Please, this is a situation which has me nervous. A friend sent me one of those funny GIF things. It is about six different cat faces and the cats move in different ways depending on what kind of music it is.
I tried to get these GIFs onto my iWeb webpages. I had a difficult time, published one cat face and saw it on Safari on my website. It was a cat with a head bouncing to be bop music. Then I tried to upload all the other cat heads. I botched the job because it ended up with about six of them piling up on each other. Anyhow, I had a bunch of these square windows of cat faces with different kinds of earphones and I thought to myself, "Heh, wouldn't it be funny to see what THAT looks like on a webpage," and I hit the publish button.
As i could see the progres bar advancing I got to thinking how this could muck up my website (I am a neophyte), so I hit the Cancel button. After that, I deleted the page upon which all those GIFs of cats faces bobbing up and down had been placed. I thought that that was the end of it.
Then I went to my email to do something else. Suddenly out of the corner of my eye I could see movement and I realized that it was that notification saying that my page had been published. SO apparently I had not cancelled that page after all. I clicked onto the Visit Me Now button and saw up in the Navbar, a page titled BLANK. The page had bobbing cat head GIFs strewn all over it and I panicked. I closed Safari, went to iWeb to see if I could really get rid of those cat GIFs.
The bottomest line is that I had already deleted that page! How would the cats still be dancing on that blank page if I deleted it? I checked all my other pages and they are OK. How on earth could those dancing cat GIFs be bouncing around on my Safari website when they are nowhere to be found on my iWeb pages?
Please, help me figure this out because I am not comfortable knowing that a whole bunch of GIFs are on my Safari website, maybe screwing everything up by whatever GIFs might be able to do if there were enough of them on a page. Sort of like overload, too any appliances plugged into the wall, etc.
I am nervous, and although this could seem funny on the outside, here in my place it is nerve wracking.

I had earlier hit the Clear cache button, but apparently I had to hit it about 10 more times plus go to sites outside of the website. I left to do something else and now that I checked my website on Safari, that Blank Page is not there and the GIFs are gone.
I'm glad that's over.

Rollback does not work between two databases
I have two databases, A and B and a database link. I have a procedure in database A that has calls to procedures of database B. When commit in A then gives error (ora-06512), then I make rollback, but only does for database A, in database B has recor
