  • ORA-22835: buffer too small when trying to save pdf file in LONG RAW column

    Hi,
    I get "ORA-22835: Buffer too small for CLOB to CHAR or BLOB to RAW conversion (real : 125695, maximum : 2000)" when i trying to save a 120k pdf file in an Oracle Long Raw column using dotnet 4.0 and Entity FrameWork.
    Dim db As New OracleEntities
    Try
    Dim myEntity = (From e In db.TEXTE _
    Where e.TEXT_ID = txtTextId.Text _
    Select e).Single
    With myEntity
    If txtTextypeId.Text <> "" Then
    .TEXTYPE_ID = txtTextypeId.Text
    Else
    .TEXTYPE_ID = Nothing
    End If
    .TEXT_NUM = txtTextNum.Text
    .TEXT_NAME = txtTextName.Text
    .TEXT_DATE = dtTextDate.SelectedDate
    If DocAdded Then
    .TEXT_DOC = Document
    ElseIf DocDeleted Then
    .TEXT_DOC = Nothing
    End If
    End With
    db.SaveChanges()
    Document is an array of Byte and TEXT_DOC also (mapped to a long row column).
    is it possible to increase the size of the buffer ? how may i do it ?
    Thx in advance.
    Regards.

    Using a custom UPDATE or INSERT stored procedure for LONG RAW column with
    exceed-limit data may still get the following error.
    "ORA-01460: unimplemented or unreasonable conversion requested".
    One option is to use BLOB instead of LONG RAW in your table and regenerate your
    data model from the table. Then using the default UPDATE or INSERT statement
    (created by EF) should work.
    The following will modify your LONG RAW column to BLOB column.
    Disclaimers:
    1. It's irreversible--you cannot modify BLOB back to LONG RAW.
    2. I have not tried that when there are huge data in LONG RAW column.
    So be careful.
    alter table <your_table_name> modify <your_long_raw_type_column> blob;

  • Why does TM say the target drive is too small, when it's not?

    I have 100GB free on the firewire drive. The Mac HD, after excluding some folders and partitions, is 92GB. The TM backup starts and runs, but then the size of the backup progress bar keeps changing (reads, backing up 8GB of 8GB, then 8.1GB of 8.1GB, etc. It keeps growing...) Anyway, when it get to the end I get "TM quit unexpectedly because the size was too big" or some such nonsense. I have used this drive and set-up successfully many times, but now its acting up. Is there some 'rule' about having enough free space PLUS a certain amount of "extra?"
    Thanks!

    Yes, there is.
    TM adds about 20% to what it's going to back up for workspace it will need on the destination disk/partition. Usually, it won't even start backing-up if here isn't enough room.
    But your TM drive/partition should be 2-3 times the size of what it's backing-up, to allow for a reasonable "depth" of backups, so TM can keep copies of items you've deleted or changed (or that might have gotten corrupted) for a few weeks, at least.
    And if you have other data on that drive, it needs to be in a separate partition, as TM works best with it's own, exclusive space.
    There should be some better messages in your logs. Download the +Time Machine Buddy+ widget from: http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/status/timemachinebuddy.html. It shows the messages from your logs for one TM backup run at a time, in a small window. Copy and post the messages here (be sure to get them all, as sometimes they overflow the small window).

  • Desktop too small when connecting to computer via RWW, Windows 7

    Using Remote Web Workplace to access an sbs2008, x64 with A-D. desktop is XP pro, remote is Lenovo 28427PU laptop 4 GB, with Windows 7. Get a black border around the screen when you log into the desktop you want to view. Changing resolution does not seem
    to change this.

    This works fine. SBS 2008 system and I had the exact complaint from a user.
    I tested the remote desktop session and sure enough the view of the remote desktop had a black box around it--smaller resolution.
    I backed out and pressed F10 to display the tool bar, clicked View, Toolbars, and then selected 'Status bar' in order to see the magnification level at the bottom right hand side of IE 10.
    Once set to 100% I switched back to the RDC---still with the black box. I had to close the remote session and then reconnect in order for the 100% change to take effect.
    Display is completely as desired now.
    Lovely how many steps you have to go through on this.
    Don't forget to set IE 9 and greater to 'Compatibility mode' and add it as a 'Trusted site' (your RWW website) in order for any of this to work. I have to make very detailed step by step instructions for my users --adding this step in next.
    Thank you.

  • 'ORA-06502 character string buffer too small' when called from C# app

    I have researched this problem and checked my variable sizes over and over again. I have tested the procedure within the Oracle Express environment and it works fine; HOWEVER, when the procedure is called from my C# app it produces the ORA-06502 error.
    The stored procedure signature looks like this...
    create or replace save_new_project (p_custorgid in number,
      p_title in varchar2,
      p_AOIName in varchar2,
      p_description in varchar2,
      p_receiveddate in date,
      p_deadlinedate in date,
      p_startdate in date,
      p_createddate in date,
      p_createdby in varchar2,
      p_projectid out number,
      p_statustypedescrip out varchar2)The OracleParameter in my C# app for the last out param is defined as such...
    cmd.Parameters.Add(new OracleParameter("p_statustypedescrip", OracleDbType.Varchar2, 30, ParameterDirection.Output));As I said at the beginning of this post, the procedure works fine in the Oracle environment. So why is it not working by simply calling it from C#? I've tried changing the OracleDbType to CLOB which eliminates the error but it returns a bizarre result. It returns this string, "Oracle.DataAccess.Types.OracleClob". WTH?!!
    Since CLOB doesn't really work either I switch back to Varchar2 and specify a size of 5000 (in the database the field I am querying is defined as Varchar(30)). I still get the ORA-06502 error.
    I am clueless as to what the problem is. It should work and it does if I run a series of SQL statements in an Oracle SQL Command window. The test that works fine looks like this...
    declare
      v_projid projects.projectid%type;
      v_statustypedescrip projectstatustypes.type%type;   /* this is a varchar(30) */
    begin
      save_new_project(2, 'Some input text goes here', 'More input text', 'And more again','26-APR-2007','26-APR-2007','26-APR-2007','26-APR-2007','users name as inpujt text here',v_projid,v_statustypedescrip);
      dbms_output.put_line('v_projid = ' || v_projid);
      dbms_output.put_line('v_statustypedescrip = ' || v_statustypedescrip);
    end;But calling save_new_project from C# throws ORA-06502. It identifies line 40 of my stored procedure. This is line 40...
    p_statustypedescrip := v_statustypedescrip;

    Problem solved!!!
    I don't know why this worked but it did. I changed how I declared the output parameter in my C# app. I used to have it on one line like this...
    cmd.Parameters.Add(new OracleParameter("p_statustypedescrip", OracleDbType.Varchar2, 30, ParameterDirection.Output));but then I changed it to multiple lines like this...
    OracleParameter prm11 = new OracleParameter();
    prm11.ParameterName = "p_statustypedescrip";
    prm11.OracleDbType = OracleDbType.Varchar2;
    prm11.Size = 30;
    prm11.Direction = ParameterDirection.Output;
    cmd.Parameters.Add(prm11);I don't know why it works this way but it does and that's all I care about.

  • The printer prints the fonts too small when I try to print a page off the Internet.

    My new printer is the Photosmart D110a. It is printing documents from Microsoft word but when I try to print a document from an Internet site, the font is so small I cannot read it. How can I adjust the printer settings so the font size is a 12? I  do not think I have the wireless stuff set up correctly but I don't need to do any cloud printing or things like that. I would appreciate any help you can give me.

    OK, well, when you print, use File > Print or Control-P on the resulting window click on Preferences, then on the Effects tab.  See if you are printing in Acutal Size, like this:

  • Print too small when Comments viewed

    I have Pages 08 files, converted from Word 2007 (.docx). When I try to print, regardless of printer (two different HP Laserjets), the result is a neat little patch of print in the middle of the sheet of paper, perhaps 20% of intended size. Each time I try again, the patch of print is again reduced on and on to (presumably) a single pixel.
    This happens only when Comments are viewed. Otherwise, the pages print normally.
    I've messed with font sizes, page layout and everything else can think of. Did I miss something? Is the converted xml in some way mishandled by Pages? Any clues?
    Thanks in advance to all you expert helpers.

    Yvan,
    Do you mean that you were able to print a Pages 08 file, with Comments viewed, and it filled the sheet properly (text slightly smaller to accommodate the Comments on the left)?
    My own print-outs, on both an HP LaserJet P2015 and an HP LaserJet 1200 will not print properly. The Print Preview shows a slightly down-sized page. But it will print - at most - a rectangle about 80mm X 45mm (4" X 2" for our American friends). Woe if I click anything above the Layout drop-box! The Print Preview image and the subsequent print reduce by half with each click.
    Dennis says this is a bug in Pages... it certainly behaves like one.
    Thanks.

  • Exporting Issues - Video TOO SMALL when exporting

    You can probably tell this, but this is my first time using Premiere after using Final Cut Pro for years.  I have edited a fairly long sequence, but when I went to export, it exports all of the sequence into a small window with lots of black around it.  Also, if I set the sequence window to "fit," it looks like this.  The actual source file from which I pulled all my clips don't have any of these issues.  They fit normally and have no black area around them.  I have messed around with all the settings I can find.  I usually don't resort to posting questions on forums... please help!

    Welcome to the forum.
    As Harm states, this is due to a mis-match between your source footage, and your Project/Sequence Preset.
    What are the full specs. of your source footage? Your Project Preset MUST match that.. If there is not a Preset that does match, you can choose Desktop and then adjust the parameters of it to fit your footage.
    When the above is done, you can Export to all sorts of Frame Sizes, and things will be fine, but you need to match that Project to the footage.
    That will handle it.
    Good luck,

  • Jpeg thumbnails too small when saved from Photoshop

    Since moving to Snow Leopard, I notice that the Finder shows jpegs saved from Photoshop quite a bit smaller than jpegs saved using other apps, like Preview or just scanned images. This makes viewing the thumbnails in the Finder harder. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?
    I would post a screen grab to show this, but I can't see how to do that here. If anyone knows, please let me know.
    Thanks

    That's because Photoshop creates its own rather smallish icons (by the new standards) for the files. If you remove custom thumbnails and let Finder draw them they'll be scalable all the way up to 512x512. There is a preference from within Photoshop to tell it to NOT create icons. Go to PS prefs, select Saving Files, and turn off Image Previews. The advantage is that the icons can be drawn larger; the disadvantage is that they will appear in Finder more slowly, since instead of simply displaying what is there Finder has to draw the icons. Furthermore, Finder doesn't always draw the icons with the clarity one would expect: sometimes they never do appear as sharp as they ought to be (there are several very lengthy threads discussing this problem, with no real solution), sometimes they slowly appear in all their large glory.
    Oh, and to post a picture, as in my signature, you have to have the image available somewhere online, then add an image tag.
