A cmd/ batch file windows shows up when i close firefox for a few secconds, why?

When i close firefox, a CMD window appears and then dissapears and firefox closes.
This has happened all after Norton removed a file due to it thinking it was bad (while scanning on its own accord)
The file that opens the window is located here:
C:\Users\Robert\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\jkqm25xu.default
I think it may be one of the sessionstore javascript files.

I disabled 'Firefox OS Simulator 3.0.1' and it solved the problem. Thanks..

Sometimes when I close Firefox and try to open it in few moments it shows me message "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system." However, I haven't opened any additional Firefox related programs, and previous Firefox is closed. First I though it is because of my computer, but then I discovered that other people have the same problem as well

    Hi Andis.
First of all, this is completely normal behavior, although it's a bit irritating, I know. What happens is that when you close Firefox, despite the window disappearing right there and then, Firefox keeps running for a little bit until the whole closing procedure is completed. This can take a fraction of a second on fast computers, or can take a few seconds on slow computers or when Firefox is storing a large session (if you save your tabs). All you have to do is wait a bit until Firefox closes, and then open it again.
To see if it's still running, you can press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC and then, under the Processes tab, you can see if firefox.exe is still there. If it's taking an unusual amount of time to close (which happens very rarely, and only if the browser freezes on exit), you can force the application to terminate from this application (task manager).
Firefox 4.0 will reduce by 97% the time it takes firefox.exe to close, so this problem will be basically erased for Firefox's next version.
Until then, I can recommend you this extension, which helps you restart your browser more easily and without bothering about closing times:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3559/
    Hopefully this will help.

  • When I close Firefox, the windows closes normally, but firefox.exe still appears in Processes in Task Manager. I have to End Process to open Firefox again, and it goes to Restore Last Session page.

I have the same problem - every time I close firefox (using either the red x or by selecting file ---> exit) the program appears to close normally, but the firefox.exe *32 process continues to run. If I try to re-open firefox normally I get a message that the program is still running and I need to go into task manager and manually kill the process.
I could also kill the process from the command prompt, but both of those methods are slow and annoying. This issue has only been occurring for the last 24 hours or so; to the best of my knowledge I haven't downloaded any new software or updated any plug-ins that would have caused a switch from firefox's normal awesomeness. Norton doesn't show any new viruses or other nastiness on my computer.
I'm running 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium edition.

  • My Language Bar isn't showing up when I have Firefox active, although it shows up fine in other applications and my desktop. Any ideas?

I noticed a couple days ago that my language bar wasn't showing up when I had Firefox active. At first I thought it was the bar in its entirety, but when I'm on the desktop, or even in AIM, the language bar still shows. I'm constantly switching between typing in English and Japanese, so I need this function. I'm stuck currently typing it elsewhere and pasting it into the browser, which is very time consuming. Does anyone have any ideas as to why it's doing this? Thank you.

I have the Language bar as part of the taskbar, and I have Firefox just as a normal window. It's actually showing up today, which is strange because I've been moving my computer around, so it's been on and off three times today, and this is the first time it's here.

  • How do I save a Group Your Tabs Window? When I create a fresh Group Your Tabs Window it goes away when I close Firefox.

I am currently beta testing Firefox 4.0. I love the Group Your Tabs option but every time I use it I loose what I have created when I close Firefox. How do I save my work?

    Hi,
This is not a problem. You just have to go in options, in general tab -> start up options check the "Show my windows and tabs from last time"
This should do the trick. It's not a beta bug or whatever. It's just a preference thing.
Some people do not like having all their tabs opened from last time when they open the browser

Yeah, I'm 95% sure that I did that after I closed that Skype, so I was a bit shocked when I saw that screen pop up later :/

  • When I close Firefox, the window closes but the Firefox.exe process and Plug-in Container remain running in the background and have to be shut down using Windows Task Manager.

This happens frequently. Something in Firefox continues to run even when the program is closed. The process has to be stopped before I can open Firefox again.

Thanks. Closing with File/Exit instead of the X closes Firefox properly. AT LAST! A solution!

  • When I close Firefox and open another instance of it to look at a new site I get a pop up window telling me Firefox hasn't shutdown yet.

When I close Firefox and open another instance of it to look at a new site I get a pop up window telling me Firefox hasn't shutdown yet. I am aware of tabs, but I prefer to just open new windows.
Do I really need a pop up window telling me that I just closed Firefox? Is there a way to disable it in options? I can't even use Buzof program to auto click for me. I've never had this issue with any other browser and I find it incredibly annoying.

I am not clear what you mean by:
''the program will only alow 1 website for each time I boot my machine,''
Are you talking about Firefox or something else in the above statement. Firefox will, or should allow you to open quite a few tabs at startup if you wish, although it will be faster the fewer that you do open.
    When you say
''I close it the program does not completely close ''
Again what is happening, what error messages if any do you see, and what exactly makes you think Firefox is not closing properly.
Presumably you have already clicked on the blue links in my first post and read those articles.

    Hi annarepublic78,
As per the above mentioned error, your Win CS6 download was not complete, either it was in process or was interrupted. This is the only reason you see the MasterCollection_CS6_LS16.7z.crdownload. Here .crdownload means the download is in process.
Please try to download it again on the Desktop and please make sure that the download completes successfully(without the .crdownload extension).
    Regards,

When I close Firefox, there are two underlying windows that I have to close every time. How do I get rid of them for good and prevent this from continuing to happen. Both windows were opened by me during viewing at some point, so they did originate from me.
