A Complain To Adobe

As the start of another weeks dawns and most of us come face to face with our “income earning” pursuits, I am faced again with Adobe and its suite of software that is a source of Terror, stress and a lack of productivity in our lives. I would attempt to list the stressful situation we face by using Adobe’s suit of products. I do it without any profanity, childish name callings or language of ranting.
(1) Program launch Time: On average we use Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Premier and After Effects. On average each program takes a full 2 minutes to launch and ready to use, Adobe programs has this habit of pretending to be ready but is not quite ready, just try clicking on say the “File” menu. The biggest offender here is Photoshop with Illustrator a close second. Indesign is no better and constantly reverts to its default settings even with our custom settings saved. This is quite annoying as we cater to an international clientele with different measurement settings, imagine the time wasted with a client in Europe using the metric system and an American with the imperial standards.
(2) Program False Exit: At least three time a week we are surprise to see an adobe program “Illustrator is the biggest offender” running when it was closed three days ago, we usually has to force quit the offending application.
(3) Destroying the session: When an adobe program misbehaves and they often do, it brings the entire system down. An example being Dreamweaver and any browser use for previewing. When Dreamweaver slows to a crawl, so does the browser, and any other program you may be running even notepad that draws little system resources. It seems that no matter what’s done after including closing the programs, the session is dead resulting in a complete and time consuming system restart.
(4) Fonts: As desktop publishers we know better than to copy all of our thousands of fonts to the fonts directory. We use Extensis suitcase to load the font sets kept on an external USB 3 drive, yet every time we launch Photoshop the “Initializing fonts” popup comes up and lingers for up to 5 minutes before anything can be done. Sure we have big sets of fonts loading into suitcase but no more than 150 fonts that we know are clean, most being from Adobe’s own fonts library.
(5) Sluggishness: Sure this could be blamed on a myriad of things but we’ve seen this sluggish slow behavior primarily with Adobe’s programs, Photoshop sometimes just comes to a halt with the simplest of task like opening a 4mb jpeg. We just can’t put our fingers on it. With 8Gigs of ram with frequently defrag and system maintenance, we just don’t understand why Photoshop would just freeze for 5 minutes as we watch the status bar slowly progresses. It seems as though it’s a big “no, no” to have Dreamweaver and Photoshop running, not to mention Adobe bridge, now that’s another story. Multi-tasking with adobe products seems to be a pipe dream.
Adobe’s programs are a major source of stress in our Multimedia business, I’ve heard the mildest and calmest of people use profanity dozens of times a day as they try to earn a living using Adobe’s programs. Smoke and coffee breaks are a usual sign that an Adobe program is creeping, freezing or has caused the system to be restarted. Adobe must take the time to realize that some of us are real users, earning our living using their products and not some recreational user who downloaded a cracked copy to experiment. We’ve tried everything, from more memory to no web connection and even a system with just the adobe suite of program installed, yet the programs are still problematic to use. Seems everyone is reading from the same outdated diagnostic book with the same old questions like “What anti-virus program are you using” I can’t tell you how annoying it is that after waiting two days for an answer, the question is answered by another question. We wish we could dump adobe’s suit but their monopoly is in full effect, there just isn’t another Photoshop or Dreamweaver out there. The final cut guys on the Mac are frequently laughing at the premier guys on windows 7 and 8. All in all Adobe’s products have great features but there is something wrong with their products, something very, very wrong. On an average week, we loose five and a half hours of non-productivity due to Adobe’s programs, that’s 27 hours a month, 324 hours a year or 13 days a year, now that’s real money in any lauguage..

Yeah, ya know, is there a real good reason why you ever close these apps? I meant, Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign and Illustrator are always running...(I don't do web or video). So, it takes some time to relaunch some apps, is that really a hill worth dying on? I meant, is this really your top pain point? Really?

If you are getting regular and constistant hangs and crashes, something is wrong with your systems...for the same reason I don't have to restart apps very often, I couldn't tollerate consistant and regular hangs/crashes...I would do something to to troubleshoot and fix the systems because hanging and crashing is not typical and shouldn't be toloerated (and not automatically blamed on Adobe).

Uh...really? "Terror, stress and lack of productivity" in your lives? Ya think this might be just a bit over the top? I meant we ain't talking world peace or solving hunger here...if your pro apps are not working well for you, you need to get to the bottom of the reasons they aren't. Adobe apps work well for the vast majority of users–you just need to move from the "don't work for us" camp to the "works fine for us" camp. That's your job...fix yourself!

  • [locked] Is there any way to complain to Adobe re. installing McAfee stuff?

Is there any way to officially complain to Adobe about installing McAfee software? In last several updates of Flash I did not see any option to opt out and since I don't need this "tool", every update to Flash is followed with uninstall. I install Flash Player updates to fix possible Adobe issues and security holes and not to add bloatware to my computer.
I am looking for links or emails where I could effectively address this issue, not an outsourced customer service site that won't escalate the problem anywhere.
    Thanks.

I've invested well over $11,000 in Master Collections of CS3, CS4, and CS5 for Windows and Mac, not to mention hundreds of unpaid hours here in these forums, helping people use the same products I do.
I've also bought two HP Printers, a Lexmark printer, a Canon scanner, a pair of Canon digital cameras, four external hard drives, and about $4,000 worth of additional photo editing, video editing, web design and audio editing software.
How would your viewpoint differ based on that alone?
The fact is, you bought a piece of software, you didn't buy the company. You're no more entitled to change business practices at Adobe as a Flash owner, than a parent who buys a Happy Meal for their kid is entitled to run McDonald's.
If you don't have time to read what you're installing, you will get what you deserve and you'll deserve what you get.
Your viewpoint may be different, but the fact is, it's WRONG.

  • Complain to Adobe

I've attempted to get help by calling Adobe customer service. After reaching someone with a very strong, foreign accent and spending 15 minutes giving information, my customer ID and so on, he put me on hold for 30 minutes. Then, another strongly accented man picked up the phone and said he could not help me without the serial numbers, which are 2,000 miles away at my home. Why couldn't the first person tell me that? How do I make this complain to Adobe.
Is there another pdf reader, besides Acrobat, as I don't need any of the Adobe products except for a reader. I find the company the worst to deal with and the software to be the most problematic.

Well, you can use Adobe Reader.
Also, since you are in the Mac forum I assume you have a Mac. Mac Preview should already be installed on your system.

  • How do you complain to Adobe?

I pay, and have been paying for a long time, a subscription to Adobe for use of CS6, specifically InDesign. I get emails from Adobe thanking me for my payments. Yet when I try to open the programme now, I am told I need to renew my subscription. Yet there is nowhere to complain to. Adobe is effectively stealing from me. Anyone else got such a problem?

Hve you tried the creative cloud help page?

  • How do I complain to Adobe about a lying representative?

While investigating the purchase of a Photoshop CC subscription, I specifically asked an Adobe Rep if I would have to reinstall my plugins from CS6.  His short answer was NO.  This was clearly a lie to pad his own personal bottom line.  So, do I have a means of transferring my plugins from CS6 or must I go through the aggravation of reinstalling them?  As I'm well within the 30 cancellation period, I've a good mind just to cancel the subscription and run CS6 as long as I can.

I apologize for posting in anger earlier.  A second Adobe Rep indicated that it was possible to transfer plugins from CS.  Here is the pertinent exchange:
Sandesh: I check and see that you must be a option to import plugins In Cs6 . However I request you to contact us back tomorrow since our Imaging Queue is not available right now.
Charles Mills: Do I understand you correctly that there is a way to import plugins from CS6? If so, I will, as you request, contact Adobe again tomorrow.
    Sandesh: Thank you.
Sandesh: Is there anything else I can help you with? Charles Mills: Yes. You didn't answer my question. Do I understand correctly that there is a way to import plugins from CS6?
Sandesh: Yes, there Is a way to import plugins from Cs6. Charles Mills: Okay. Thank you.
    Sandesh: You are welcome.
Sandesh: Is there anything else I can help you with? Charles Mills: No, not today.
Sandesh: It's my pleasure chatting with you today. You have a great day and take care!

  • I try to complain to Adobe but nobody listens...

I have called the Customer Service, emailed, called the Head Office and promised a reply... still nothing... no responses from Adobe!!!!
    Simple Step by Step Details!!!!!!!!!
    1) I am an Adobe Creative Cloud Subscriber
    2) Adobe send me emails with "valuable information" periodically
    3) I click on the link in the email
    4) I end up here...
    5) I do not have time to fill out the form on the right every time, so I close the browser window and get back to work
    6) I spend my time to improve Adobe's Customer Service, but they seem to not value my opinion
Proclamation:  I alreadxy pay uyou money Adobe!!!  For a full suite of products Adobe!!!  For the lattest versions and updates automatically Adobe!!!  You solicit my email Adobe!!!  You know who I am Adobe!!!  Why do you make me ( a paying customer) fuill out forms to be privy to informations that should be readily available to me, as a "valued customer" Adobe!!!
    7) Fix this problem. Stop wasting my time.  All Cloud subscribers should automatically be linked in to these articles and tips.
Show us you care Adobe... do the right thing!  This is the last time I will try to contact you to suggest this improvement.  I am a Cloud subscriber.  I pay you money.  Respect that my time is just as valuable as yours, so do not waste it!
Like my peers, I could just pirate your software, but I do not.  I respect your business and your products.  But respect is a two way street!
And no offence to the people of India, working for Adobe customer service... but I find it hard to understand anything that you say.  The heavy accents make it almost impossible to get any help, after waiting on hold for ridiculous amounts of time.  Please get English speaking CSR's... I pay you money every month!!!
    Ps.  have a Nice Day!

    Ahh somebody's listening!
Thanks for the reply.  I would ignore the emails except that I want the information they are offering.
I just do not want to have to provide all the personal details every time.  Should automatically send this info to Cloud subscribers.  They already have all of my personal info.
    Thanks again for the reply.
    Cheers!

  • Will Adobe ever fix the UI text font size issues in CS6 apps?

Having recently installed CS6 on my new Windows computer, I find some serious issues with font sizes in the user interface (and not only in Dreamweaver, but in several--but not all--the applicaitons). You'd think that with a 27-inch screen, font sizes wouldn't be a problem. And you'd be wrong.
The irony is that some text is properly sized. Commands in the menus. For example. But the menu names are not. The text of items in the File tab is correctly sized, but the name of the File tab is not. In the Manage Sites dialog box, the title bar text is properly sized, but the text within, including button labels, is not. IN almost all of these cases, text is just plain way too small to read. It looks like the programmers made a HUGE boo-boo: they sized text in pixels, not only a no-no in web diesgn, but a no-no in applicaiton design.
Because on a 27-inch screen with a resolution of 1920x1080, UI text in Dreamweaver is all plenty large and readable, while on a 27-inch screen with a resolution of 2560x1440, UI text all over the applicaiton is too tiny to read--and made worse by putting the text on a gray background, reducing contrast, yet another design no-no.
CC is NOT an option--and properly should not be for any occasional user. Do not even think of suggesting it as a "solution."
This is clearly a bug (did Adobe do any testing on higher-resolution screens before releaseing CS6?), and one I wonder if it is unique to Windows systems (as Apple has had similarly high-resolutiopn screen for its displays and iMac lines for quite some time now). Or is it uniquely a Windows 8 issue?
Finally, is there at all a workaround? I can find nothing in the Settings dialog box that would control the size of UI text. Perhaps there is a text-based configuration file that could be modified to change the size of UI text. (Yeah, having configured autoexec.bat, config.sys, win.ini, and similar files back in the day, I do know my way around configuration files--if they are still used.)

What made you think that you should complain to Adobe about Windows display problem?  Adobe and Microsoft are two different companies competing against each other.
However, you might have display problem and the best way to resolve this is by going to:
    Control Panel >> Display
    Follow the online instructions.
Please not, you go to control Panel from within the windows itself NOT from DW.
Hope this gets you started or you can ask in the Windows Forum on Microsoft Website.

  • How to make a Compliant to Adobe

    Hello
I'm sure this is in the wrong place, but hopefully someone will be able to help.
How on earth do you complain to Adobe? Most websites have a complaints section or an email address - all i've found with adobe was a link to a PDF that includes an email address for complaint to accounts (which is close to what my complaint is in regards to - sales.) but the email bounces back.
    http://www.adobe.com/macromedia/ir/macr/corp/pdf/policy_accounting.pdf
    HELP?
    Thanks

That document was from macromedia and I presume any contact information has now long been moved over to adobe. Only place for contact information is the Contact tab on the website. Not sure if there is a specific sales complaints address. Maybe your local office if you have an enterprise sales complaint.

  • "Full Screen Mode" in Adobe Reader XI for Windows 8 loads way too slow!

I recently got a new laptop with Windows 8, after having used Windows Vista for years.  I installed Adobe Reader XI for my new computer.  Before, I used Adobe Reader X on Vista.  I used Adobe Reader "Full Screen Mode" to read the nice-looking Bible chapters I created with internet audio from Biblegateway.com.  In Vista, the "Full Screen Mode" appeared quickly, before the audio fully started, so I could see the text in time for the reading.
However, with Windows 8, "Full Screen Mode" takes around 5-10 seconds to appear at all, and a black screen is present throughout the wait.  It does the same thing when I hit "escape" to exit "Full Screen Mode" as well.  I even uninstalled Adobe Reader XI from my new laptop, and tried using Adobe Reader X, even though it is not recommened by Adobe to do that on Windows 8, in order to test the speed of "Full Screen Mode" there.  Adobe Reader X had the same problem!  I do not know if this can be fixed, but I am pretty unhappy about it!  I enjoyed the "Full Screen Mode" with my PDF chapters and the online bible audio!  Finding that function for the first time with Adobe Reader X was a delight for me!  It gave the reading a theater feel!
Has anyone else here had a similiar problem with "Full Screen Mode" loading way too slow on Windows 8?  I am very disappointed!  If this cannot be fixed by a user, is there a place to complain to Adobe and make a recommendation for software improvement?  Thank you!

  • Adobe Reader X flaws - very annoyed

If you hide toolbars in Reader X, the only way to get it back is to press F8.  Problem: some users don't KNOW you can press F8 to get it back.  Even if you restart the program, you won't get it back.  No, right clicking won't help you either.  Hence it's a design flaw, a dumb idea: if you lose your toolbar, there's no indication how to get it back.  That's bad, it's just stupid.
I just now was using it and I hid the menu bar by pressing F9.  Surprise:  there's NO WAY to get the menu bar back except to press F9.  Once again, what if the user doesn't know that??  What are you supposed to do??  What if you're using someone else's computer and you don't know how to reshow the toolbar or menu bar??
This is really annoying, that they would make it like that.  Also, is there a place I can directly complain to Adobe?  Someone wasn't thinking!!

One more thing: if you view the task pane in a Reader doc, it's impossible or very difficuly to turn it off, unless you close Reader.
Once again, this is very poor design.  You should be able to close it in an obvious way, like a menu option or an X on the task pane.

"Recently, a couple of accomplished interactive/web designers got tired of complaining about Photoshops eccentricities to each other. They couldnt find a complain to Adobe web site, so, being web designers, they made their own at DearAdobe.com.
The site has only been up a week, but John Nack (Photoshop product manager) already wrote about it in his blog and said that some of the end-user rants were making the rounds over at the Mothership, generating an actual response, at least in-house."
Wooo! ...someone somewhere is actually listening (isn't it nice to feel like someone is actually listening for a change?)

    Hey Bob
It's like we're in some sinister Scientology group... someone makes a comment... you have to add something...anything... even if it's to say "yes, I agree!"
The fact that DB et al. have posted this here (http://indesignsecrets.com/dear-adobe.php ) ... and the fact that DB is mentioned on the Adobe site is great... good! No great surprise for anyone that is even remotely interested in these products or this company... and?

  • Troubleshooting merging of PDF in Adobe Pro 9.0.0 on Windows 7

    Hi,
I have a lot of people in my company complaining that Adobe Pro 9.0.0 can't merge PDF files anymore. This seemed to work great on Windows XP earlier. I reinstalled the application for four users but it doesn't seem help. I'm using the norweigan version and added a screenshot of the error message. I have no clue how to fix this and I don't know of it's possible. Is this an known issue with 9.0.0 ?
    best regards
    lillh

frstrsystemI make a fix, here it is:
    1) I launch acropro 9 on the server, I go to the view->toolbars->tasks menu to  the "tasks" toolbar (which cause the crash).
    2) on the server, run regedit and go to current user\software\adobe\adobe acrobat\9.0 and export this hive on a file like acrobat9_user.reg
    3) create a acro9pro.cmd file with
    regedit /S n:\scripts\acrobat9pro_user.reg
    @start "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\" Acrobat.exe
save this file on the server
publish your app and call the CMD instead of the acrobat file
trick; you can map drive into the cmd so that user can access network shares and not only the server on.

  • Adobe 2.0 Can't Open PDF Email Attachments

Hi. I am using WM5 on an HTC Wizard (Cingular 8125). I installed Adobe 2.0 for viewing PDF's and it works great. The only problem I have is that I get an error every time I try to view a pdf that is an email attachment.
When I open an email with a pdf attachment, I tap the attachment and Adobe 2.0 starts up. I then get the following errors:
"The file is damaged, but is being repaired"
"There was an errror opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired."
If I try to save the pdf attachment and then view it I get the same two errors listed above.
If I copy the pfd attachment from my PC to the device I can open it, but I suspect that is because some type of file conversion has taken place.
Should I be able to view pdf attachments on my device using adobe 2.0 or will the pdf attachments always need some type of coverting before I can view them on my device?
Adobe 2.0 works great, but so far I am unable to view pfd email attachments.
    Thanks for the help.
    Rob

    >>> The .pdf must be transferred from a PC into the mobile device folder and conversion must take place in order to view the file on the mobile device. <<
    There are likely a number of ways which will render pdf's non viewable on ppcs... some thoughts on this specific issue;
The activesync "plugin" is a "tagger" subject to failure... if the file can't be directly opened from the file menu of ppc reader, it is likely another problem.
ppc reader is acrobat 5... most pdf's are created with "backward compatibility" but it's also possible that the original generator specified acrobat 6 or 7
The "file associations" are often wrong with respect to pdf files... attachments apparently have another level of file association, so, before making any conclusion, save the file to the "My Documents" folder, start reader and open the file using the ppc reader's file menu.
    >>> it would be nice if Adobe and Microsoft could put their heads together to straighten this out. <<
Remember something said long ago about "when pigs fly" ;-) ...we are on our own as there is zero evidence that anyone from adobe even reads these posts, and then you have to couple that with the fact that reader users are not adobe's customers... they have almost zero incentive to address ppc reader problems... wanna do something about it... get a major full acrobat user to complain to adobe that their pdfs are not really ppc readable.

  • Adobe Photoshop crashing when selecting print preferences

    Hi There,
It seems that within the past 2 days in our company we have had users complain that Adobe Photoshop is crashing when they go to print and print preferences. They say a window appears and says "Photoshop has stopped working and windows is looking for a solution".
Has anybody else experienced this over the past couple days? It was working on all computers until recently.
The computers are a mostly Windows 8 computers with 1 Windows 7.

try resetting preferences by holding down shift-ctrl-alt  while starting ps. if done correctly a confirmation dialog with appear.
if that fails, this worked for someone else,
System Preferences>Print & Fax. Selected the Konica Minolta printer (the B/W printer was working fine). Changed the name. Still didn't fix it. Went back selected my newly named Konica Minolta then "Open Print Queue" (like Dave said)>print settings. Change the driver to "Generic Postscript printer." I could print, but only on letter-size paper, no other options available (need tabloid). Went back to system preferences>print & fax>Konica Minolta2>open print queue>drivers then I reselected the updated printer drivers--the same one that hasn't been working.
