A config profile deployed on my devices without my permission.

I believe a config profile deployed on my devices without my permission to access my information. These are consumer only products (iPads and iPhones). Is this legal  and what can i do to remove them?  Profile does not show in settings. I see info via the diagnostics and usage data. I tried wiping all devices but does not remove it. Please help.

What profile?  Where are you seeing this?  What's it called?  Is your phone enrolled in an MDM server???  If you don't see anything in Settings -> General -> Profiles, then none are installed.

I'm absolutely furious that Apple has, without my permission or request, downloaded U2's new album "Songs of Innocence" to my mobile devices. I want to know how I can delete this from my devices permanently and without trace.

  • MMS not working in iPhone4S when installing config profile with APN

When we use the iPhone Configuration Utility (either the latest version or previous versions) to create a config profile with APN info, then install the profile to an iPhone4S, we noticed that MMS (multimedia messaging) was no longer working. This means we could not send or receive MMS messages. And this is MMS going over the MMS protocol (and not iMessage). We had not seen this before. We routinely do config profiles with APN info and have done for all iPhone models and iOS version before the new iPhone4S. Never had a problem with MMS or anything else. This is for iPhone4S devices in the AT&T network. It is easy to reproduce and you don't need an enterprise APN for that. In fact just a config profile with AT&T's APN settings will still break MMS when installed (other than the MMS, everything else works fine).
It does not appear an iOS 5 issue. iPhone4 (or iPhone3GS) with iOS 5 do not have this problem. It appears to be tied to the new iPhone4S hardware. The same configuration profile (with the APN info) works fine on iPhone4 with iOS 5 (MMS works fine), but when you put the very same configuration profile to an iPhone4S, MMS quits working.
Doing a network reset does not solve the problem. Only removing the profile fixes the MMS
    Any ideas, explanations or workarounds?

I called the Apple care line, and eventually got to 4th tier support, where they declared that there must be an issue with the APN I'm using, regardless of the fact that none of the iPhone 3G, 3GS', and 4's in our office are experiencing this issue while using the same APN.  I guess I shouldn't be surprised about this, afterall who'd expect Apple to actually admit there's a "bug" in one of their products, especially since this is hapenning to a very small number of users on the 4S.  Getting to 4th tier support was free, but to be able to talk to someone who can actually investigate this issue will cost $700.
I offered to give them access to our private APN for testing, but they were "unable to do that sort of testing".  Additionally, we have tested using a public APN from AT&T (wap.cingular), and still experience the same issue.
Lastly,  I did some further digging, and I think it has something to do with PDP Context 2 not getting an IP address.  As a disclaimer, I have no clue what a PDP Context is, what it does, what it's for, but obviously MMS needs it.  Going into field test mode on the phone will allow you to see the PDP Contexts, and is where I got this info from.
On the iPhone 4S, without an APN profile installed, the PDP Contexts are listed 0-3.  These 4 contexts have values for an APN, and an IPv4 address, although context 0 and 2 are the only ones that have values in them.
When an APN profile isnt installed, MMS' can be sent, cellular internet doesn't work., the values are:
    Context 0
    IPv4:    ip is blank
APN:   phone (this is the default APN for the iphone 4s on att).
    Context 2
IPv4:     has a valid public IP address
    APN:     wap.cingular
When an APN profile is installed, MMS's can't be sent, but cellular internet does work, the values are:
    Context 0:
IPv4:     Valid public IP address is present
    APN:     Our enterprise APN
    Context 2:
    IPv4:     ip is  blank.
    APN:     wap.cingular
It appears that when Context 2 has an IP address, MMS' are able to be sent.  One other interesting fact, on the iPhone 4, only 1 PDP Context is listed, while the 4S has 4 listed.
Hopefully this issue will be resolved in the 5.1 update, as this update contains a baseband update for the 4S, updating it from 1.0.14 to 1.2.01-1.  Unfortunately I don't have access to a 5.1 beta, otherwise I'd test this my self.  If anyone has access to the beta, and wants to test APN profiles/MMS send status, we'd greatly appreciate it!

  • ISE Profiling Deployment

We are starting a ISE deployment to segregate mobile devices (Iphones and IPads, initially) from corporate notebooks. We have a single SSID and two separate vlans, one for mobile devices and another for corporate notebooks, assigned by ISE. We successfully setup profiling in lab environment, with a few devices, but when we put in production  we had problems with devices not being profiled correctly. Since devices are not profiled their access are denied. Since devices are denied the cannot be profiled because ISE doesn´t see any traffic (DHCP, HTTP) from clients.
What strategy are you using to deploy ISE profiling? Must I put ISE to listen our network for some time before segregating access?

    Hi
I've had the same problem with first time users being denied, that's due to ise not being able to profile before it denies.
I think they should come up with something that will profile devices then continue the authentication process.
Someone mentioned doing a re-auth for couple of seconds. (see attached pic how the authorization rule looks like), that could save you from people being denied for the first time, but if your device is never being profiled then it will just spin there all the time re-authenticating.
What you could do is also setup an unrouted VLAN and all the unknown devices stay there until profiled.
I've talked to cisco and they recommened the same thing so I guess that's it for now
What we have done before deploying ISE and it worked pretty good is I have forwarded all DHCP traffic to ISE before deploying ISE at that particular site, so DHCP forwarding ran for few days and I've already had their devices in my database and when I deployed it, it worked pretty neat
By forwarding all dhcp requests I mean:
We have Active Directory and DHCP servers centrally located, so in the router config I've added helper address to ISE ip address and that's it
Now WLC 7.3 has DHCP PROFILING and HTTP PROFILING options.
Http profiling sends first https packets to ISE and capturing USER-Agent string, that helps if you browse with safari, but if you use any other application that uses http traffic it will end up totally wrong.
example you connect with your iphone to wifi and open up VIBER, ISE will capture viber_blabla_smth as user agent and will not profile accurately.
    Hope it helps

  • Does any one know how to switch iPhone config profiles remotely ?

I want to send my iPhone's location to the server, and based on the location of the device. I want to switch the device's config profile.
Does any one know how to do it ?

As I understand it, first, there is no way to incrementally update a profile, you must remove one then add another.  I've found you can in some situations have multiple profiles on a device, but they can't have conflicting settings.  If the profile is unencrypted, you can do it fairly easily with an email attachment or hyperlink.  There is info on this in the enterprise deployment guide for IOS devices.  If it is an encrypted profile, the only way we have found to make it reliably work is with a USB connection to the IOS device.

  • HT201304 It would be tremendously helpful to be able to access, set restrictions, and make changes from the parents device to all devices under the same iTunes account, so that I could make changes to my kids devices without physical access.

    Please help!
It would be tremendously helpful to be able to access, set restrictions, and make changes from the parents device, to all devices under the same iTunes account, so that I could make changes to my kids devices without physical access.
I understand that I can set up a different Apple ID for the kids devices, or take physical control of the device and make the changes myself. However, my teenage son is technically savvy enough to have a job in Silicon Valley, as are most young people these days. However, in order to access his devices the current way, I first have to bypass the four digit pass code. This starts a fight of why I need in the device and continues to escalate. The argument that I am the parent will gain access but the fight is simply exhausting, and quite frankly shouldn't have to happen at all. He is not yet an adult, he did not pay for his iPad or iPhone and I, as a parent, should have not only have the right to change options at will, and from anywhere, but look at history or current activity when I feel like it.
I currently have the settings where app and in-app purchases require my password to be put in, and he must come to me to type it in, but I need more control and would like, and should be able to access any of our six devices and make individual changes simply by logging in to my account, with my password.
If I can see all my devices on the "Lost My iPhone" app, this technology should be easy to make happen.
C'mon parents! I have a pretty good kid, given all things that they can get into, but I am not stupid. For everything I see has been done, there is much more I haven't seen. I want my children to be kept safe and be able to know what they are looking at or listening to. We parents are the only ones who know our beliefs and what our kids can handle and when.
Thanks for any support or information that I may be missing in order to fulfill my request.

There are mobile device management solutions that can do this, including in Apple's OS X Server system, but most parents generally find that setting this up is more work than it's worth. If you're interested, though, there are a couple that at least purport to be free (I don't know if there are any hidden "gotchas"):
    http://www.unwireddevicelink.com/features/
    https://meraki.cisco.com/products/systems-manager
    and Apple's system:
    http://www.apple.com/osx/server/features/#profile-manager
I don't think any, however, allow you to see current activity or browser history. iOS doesn't expose those to access from MDM solutions, to the best of my knowledge.
    Regards.

  • How Make TS local User Profile After Install Windows 7 without Domain

    Hi,
I make TS to install Windows 7 Is success But after finish install i cannot login
If something need to add TS user local profile after install Windows 7 Without Join the Domain And make the user Administrator LocalGroup
    Thank for Help

Let's start with the fact that you are missing a key element in your task sequence. You need to have the step
Setup Windows and ConfigMgr to perform the transition from Windows PE to the new operating system. This task sequence step is a required part of any operating system deployment. It installs the Configuration Manager client into the new operating
system and prepares for the task sequence to continue execution in the new operating system. See also for more information:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh846237.aspx#BKMK_SetupWindowsandConfigMgr
    About your screenshots:
With the first screenshot you not enabling the local administrator. Is that what you want?
With the second screenshot your only creating a user account and not adding it to the local administrators group. That would need an additional action like this
    cmd.exe /c net localgroup /add administrators User01.

  • Apple configurator and ios 6.1 cannot install config profile

I'm using the Apple Configurator v1.2.1 to install my enterprise app into iPad 2's. First of all, I am unable to upgrade from iOS 6.0.1 to 6.1.2. It either fails or gets stuck and I have to "stop". My work around is to upgrade via the device (which is actually pretty fast). My big problem is that I am also installing provisioning and configuration profiles, which include files for the app. Every things seems to go ok, the app and all the data installs properly, so does the profisioning profile, until the end where the configurator tells me to "tap device to install profile" but the profile prompt never appears on the iPad. The iPad goes into setup as if it's a new iPad and the config profile nevers gets installed. I do get a warning saying it can't install the profile. I'm forced to update the configuration manually. I'm updating about a dozen each time, so it's starting to get tedious as well as error-prone. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Use whatever method you wish to update iOS
    Go though,the setup as needed
Then try apple Configurator to install your profiles
From memory updating iOS with apple Configurator
Causes the setup to run like a new device the same if you used iTunes to update
As the complete OS is installed
However it will only download iOS once, providing all your devices are the same
Updating iOS on the device still has a setup but it's only for iCloud
And you'd have to download the (smaller) update each time
I would think it is the iOS update and setup that's causing your profiles etc
to fail there maybe to much going on at the same time

  • Iphone configuration utility profile deployment problem.

We are currently try to deploy a profile to 1500 new iphones, we have cjhoosen to do this via the web and have created a configuration profile.
we want to have one profile for all users, so on the exchange tab of the profile we have left all fields blank except for the exchange activesync host field
when we go to the website we are prompted to install the profile which is ok but instead of being prompted for a user name and email address we are just prompted for a password??
obviously we can not connect as it hasnt prompted us for a user name.

we have now found what seems to be causing this.
there appears to be a bug in the software that if you leave the email field blank it doesnt remove the email field from the XML file. this has to be removed manually
As soon as you do this the auto deployment works.
the only issue with this is you can not sign your config profile as when you manually remove the line in question it breaks the authenticity.

  • Detecting Video Capture Devices without Installing JMF

    Hi All,
I want to detect the video capture devices, without installing the JMF.
I had included the jmf (windows version) in lib path in netbeans ide. I am able to detect the audio capture device. But unable to detect the video capture devices. But if I install the JMF, I am able to detect the Video Capture devices in My system. Can anyone help me?
    Thanks,
    Vinoth Kumar.

YES! Please take a look at SIP Communicator project. They have all what u want.
The main idea is copy all .dll files to System or System32 (Please check files which JMF will copy to ur computer and where).
U need to have jmf.jar and sound.jar too ( maybe more) in your computer.
Your program should have DirectSoundAuto.java, JavaSoundAuto.java, JavaSoundDetector.java, JMFInit.java. Those files are in JMStudio source code. They are used to detect all capture devices and register it to JMF, but wait !!! where they will be saved? In order to save information about capture devices which are detected, you should create "jmf.properties" file in the same location with jmf.jar.Therefore, u should modify the JMFInit.java so it can check if the "jmf.properties" exists. If it's not, you have to create it.
Check SIP Communicator at Folder "media" then "device". They have modified those files I mentioned above and created some new files to SC can detect more devices.

My wife has a laptop and an iphone 4s, I have a laptop and and iphone 4s, our two sons have our old iphone 3s, we have an old laptop for our sons to use.  Our old iphones for our sons are deactivated as phones - so they are used as i-touches for songs, pictures and aps.  I want to use icloud (which I'm new to) to hopefully have all four iphones and all three computers stay synced with at least music - if not aps and pictures.  My wife has an apple ID and I have one.  I'd like to authorize all three laptops for both apple IDs so that we will still have our own accounts, but everything either of us buys will be automatically loaded into all three laptops and all four iphones.  Can this be done?
    Thanks,
    sstultzcostello

Each person in your home can have their own Apple ID provided it is tied the their own separate email address.
iTunes permits up to five authorized computers connected to a single Apple ID: iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
For this all to work well, however, each user in your household should have a separate user account on the computer they commonly use.

Yes. You're supposed to move it to the second device from the computer and not redownload it from the iTunes Store.

can I sign in with multiple apple IDs in a single apple device without deleting my previous one?

    Hi swagyoloswag,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
There are several different services that require signing into an Apple ID to use on your iOS device. You can sign into different Apple IDs for different services on your iPhone. For example, Apple ID #1 for iCloud and Apple ID #2 for iTunes & App Store. You cannot sign into the same service with two different Apple IDs at the same time. The attached article has a list of services that are accessible with your Apple ID.

No. I have quite a few more 16,000, so I don't manually manage. Making playlists for each device makes things much easier to organize. You can create regular lists of essential tracks and smart playlists to automatically catch new content, top rated, most played etc. If you'd done it this way all along configuring a new or restored device would be the work of moments.
