A CS2 Epiphany on Installation Failures Mac PPC

I have a legitimate copy of PhotoShop CS2 (upgrade) from PhotoShop 6 and have been using it for years on an iMac (PPC) currently running OS 10.4.11.  I needed to reformat the HDD on it due to it being full and the computer running a bit slow.  I de-activated the software as noted in Adobe's FAQ.  I then did a low level reformat and re-installed OS 10.4.2.  I upgraded that to OS 10.4.11 via the combo updater.  I attempted to re-install CS2 and it wouldn't get past the start to install point without showing an error message and quitting the installation.  I tried my trusty Disk Warrior, Onyx, Mac Cleanse to attempt to fix things, still can't get it to install.  Several days of frustrations and it being a weekend so no ones home at Adobe, I looked at the console logs.  That's something that can really put you to sleep, reading those.  Anyway, I see an error with the install in the log, showing that the HDD isn't the correct format.  It shows HFSX.  I formatted my HDD in the correct format for PPC which is APM.  I also had it as HFS extended with case sensitive journaled HFS+ (HFSX) volume.  Well apparently Adobe didn't get the message out about that for CS2 &3 that they can't run in a HFSX volume.  So I reformatted to an HFS extended only volume and I was able to get CS2 to install!  There are several choices for formatting a PPC HDD and that is what Adobe should address, not the typical OSX voodoo like permissions and such.  So I'm still able to use my old but working CS2 on a PPC iMac.
Denis

CS2 was my concern, not CS3.  Anyway its working now.  Again with the many different formatting options available in OSX this should be the first thing addressed by Adobe for such issues, i.e., is your HDD formatted as HSFX, if so the Adobe product will not run/work.  That's what's needed in their troubleshooting guide for PhotoShop and it's not there.
I hope this post helps someone else.  Constructive criticism is all this is.

  • Photoshop CS6 installation failure Mac

I keep getting the installation failure error on my newly-purchased CS6 installation that I downloaded off the internet.  It is fatal error "Exit Code: 34".  I uninstalled all the previous versions of Photoshop that I had, including trial versions, and close all the programs when installing this, but the problem persists.  Seems like the same issue as in this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4371324 but no answer or solution is provided there.  Can anyone help please?

    Troubleshoot with install logs
If it hangs on the fonts, you wil lhave to manually remove the Adobe fonts from previous versions.

PTony1 the summary you have posted does not really provide any actionable items.  I would recommend utilizing the Adobe Support Advisor.  It will automatically review your complete installation logs and attempt to identify a solution.

  • Different Mac (PPC) OS X install failure

I seem to be having a different install failure for Flash
Player 9 on a Mac (PPC) OS X.
I tried all of the various solutions listed for other Player
9 failures with no luck (permissions, uninstalls, etc...)
When I run the installer it stalls out with 4 items left to
install while trying to search the hard drive. I even left it
running all night one night to see if it was just searching the
drive slowly. The installer isn't crashing as I can stop the
install by hitting the stop button.
One thing of note, is that I've had a few times (not all
times) when I cancel the install that the Flash Player will work in
the browser (I'm using Safari 3.0), however when the browser is
closed and reopened, Flash Player appears to not be installed. So,
I'm assuming in the act of canceling the install, there is some
form of a partial install that actually allows Flash Player to work
    temporarily.
Anybody have ideas on this issue?
    Mike
Flash Player 9 (both PPC installer & Universal Binary
    Installer)
    PowerBook G4 OS 10.4.10
    Safari 3.03

Well after doing some additional playing, I discovered a fix.
I opened FireFox and installed Flash Player from within
    Firefox instead of Safari.
Safari began to work immediately. Solution has held even
    after restart.

  •  Ps installation on two different boot volumes of same machine?   Ps 11.0.2 Mac PPC  and then...

Hello, I'm new to this forum.
My goal here is to have two different Photoshop 11.0.2 installations on two different boot volumes of one and the same Power Mac (PPC) G5 Quad, one being a Tiger 10.4.11 system and the other one a Leopard 10.5.8 system, for the purpose of installing two different modalities of the same Epson Photo Stylus 2200 printer, one with the printer set to use the photo black ink cartridge for luster and glossy papers, and the other one using the matte blank ink.
This is because I prefer to simply change the startup disk when switching inks rather than having to delete and re-add the necessary printers.  (This particular printer does not support ink cartridge switching under any version of Mac OS X.)
Photoshop is currently only used on this one machine.  Obviously this intended scheme fits well within the EULA conditions.
    My three questions are:
    (a) whether there is any technical issue I have failed to consider,
    (b) whether each copy of Photoshop on the same machine will have to be activated separately (in other words, is the activation tied to the CPU or to the boot volume drive?), and
    (c) if the answer to the latter question is yes, whether this will count as one or two activations for purposes of later installing a single instance of the Photoshop 13.x ("CS6") upgrade on an Intel- MacBook, since obviously C6 will not run on my PPC Mac.  Again in sum, will I be able to continue to run Photoshop 11.0.2 on two different volumes of the same PPC machine and the Photoshop 13.x upgrade on the laptop?
As further explanation, I would use Photoshop 13.x on the Mac-Intel laptop only in order to run ACR 7.x, but would keep my PPC G5 Quad as my photo editing and printing machine running Photoshop 11.0.2, since an upgrade of my desktop machine to a comparably powerful Mac Pro is simply not an option for both financial and technical reasons (the Classic environment is essential).
Any and all input and guidance will be appreciated.

From my previous visits to other forums as a lurker, I was under the firm impression you were in fact an Adobe employee, Mr. Kazlow.  I hope that is still the case and you are only referencing your participation in these user-to-user forums as a volunteer, not as an official representative of the corporation.
    Much obliged.

Look for this file or folder on your machine:
    "<Macintosh HD>/Library/Fonts/MyriadWebPro-Italic.ttf"
Is there a folder named MyriadWebPro-Italic inside the Fonts folder? Is the file MyriadWebPro-Italic.ttf already existing within this folder?
In both the cases, delete this file/folder and try to install PSE again.
Hope this helps. Let me know.

  • Flash player installer indicates installation on Mac Powerbook Hard drive is impossible?

I am running Mac OS 10.8.5 on a Mac Powerbook, with FireFox 25.0.1 (also Safari, with similar results).  I have turned off virus protection and firewall. Following directions after my first installation failure, I did a uninstall of the older version of flash player that I was using. No matter what I do (reboot, use Safari instead of Firefox, etc.),  the auto-install progresses to  "installing flash player preferences" and the action bar runs to 50%, then triggers an error message.  When using the Flash Player Install App that asks where to install flash player, it tells me that installation is possible on my hard drive. What do I do next?

Regarding Anti Virus software on a Mac:
DON’T PANIC!  But be aware that the Internet is riddled with potential threats to the security and well-being of your Mac or iOS device. No computer system is completely immune from possible attack, but Apple’s OS X (being Unix-based) is less vulnerable than most, particularly the latest versions - Lion and Mountain Lion. The following seeks to offer some guidance on the main security threats and how to avoid them. If you have further questions please post in the forum appropriate to your particular hardware or operating system.
There are many forms of ‘Malware’ that can affect a computer system, of which ‘a virus’ is but one type, ‘trojans’ another. Using the strict definition of a computer virus, no viruses that can attack OS X have so far been detected 'in the wild', i.e. in anything other than laboratory conditions. The same is not true of other forms of malware, such as Trojans. (The expression ‘malware’ is a general term used by computer professionals to mean a variety of forms of hostile, intrusive, or annoying software. Not all malware are viruses.) Whilst it is a fairly safe bet that your Mac will NOT be infected by a virus, it may have other security-related problem, but more likely a technical problem unrelated to any malware threat.
Since the introduction of Snow Leopard, Apple OS X has an anti-malware system built-in known as XProtect but officially called File Quarantine (see here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3662 ), which may alert you to, and prevent installation of, certain forms of malware. Later versions of OS X include further features to protect you, about which here: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11432 and Apple also recommend that you take simple steps to protect your Mac as detailed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH10580
So what other anti-virus software do I need (or if I am still running Tiger or Leopard) ?
Whilst viruses designed to attack the Microsoft Windows operating system cannot affect Apple OS X, it is possible to pass on a Windows virus, which you may have received but not noticed, to a Windows user, for example through an email attachment. Many use the free ClamXav just to check incoming emails for this reason. However, extensive testing in the Fall of 2013 showed that ClamXav is falling behind in terms of malware detection, and our resident expert Thomas A Reed now recommends either VirusBarrier Express or Dr. Web Light, both from the App Store. They're both free, and since they're from Apple’s App Store, they can't destabilize the system. Thomas’s excellent guidance on this subject can be read here: www.thesafemac.com/mmg
Many users also like the free application Sophos (although a few have mentioned that it can slow your system down):
    http://www.sophos.com/en-us/products/free-tools/sophos-antivirus-for-mac-home-ed ition.aspx
Do not install Norton Anti-Virus on a Mac as it can seriously damage your operating system. Norton Anti-Virus is not compatible with Apple OS X.
Do not install MacKeeper or iAnti-Virus: See this User Tip: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3022
FAKE ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE and associated MALWARE (To repeat: the expression ‘malware’ is a general term used by computer professionals to mean a variety of forms of hostile, intrusive, or annoying software.)
Do not be tricked by 'scareware', such as pop-ups on your browser, that tempts computer users to download fake anti-virus software that may itself be malware.
Once installed, the software may steal data or force people to make a payment to register the fake product.  Examples include MacKeeper and iAntivirus, but there are others. Also, beware of MacSweeper and MACDefender* (also goes under the name of MacProtector, MacGuard, MacSecurity or MacShield): These are malware that mislead users by exaggerating reports about spyware, adware or viruses on their computer in an attempt to obtain payment for an application that does nothing that free utilities do not also offer, and in many cases will also mess up your system.
*Malicious software dubbed MACDefender  takes aim at users of the Mac OS X operating system by automatically downloading a file through JavaScript. But users must also agree to install the software, leaving the potential threat limited.
*(This malware is not to be confused with MacDefender, the maker of geocaching software including GCStatistic and DTmatrix. The company noted on its site it is not affiliated with the malware.)
Malware spreads through search engines like Google via a method known as "SEO poisoning." The sites are designed to game search engine algorithms and show up when users search for certain topics. It is always a good idea to Block Pop-ups in your browser preferences.
TROJANS and RE-DIRECTION TO FAKE WEBSITES
The appearance of Trojans and other malware that can possibly infect a Mac seems to be growing, but is a completely different issue to viruses.
If you allow a Trojan to be installed, the user's DNS records can be modified, redirecting incoming internet traffic through the attacker's servers, where it can be hijacked and injected with malicious websites and pornographic advertisements. The trojan also installs a watchdog process that ensures the victim's  (that's you!)  DNS records stay modified on a minute-by-minute basis.
Mac users should always obtain their copy of Adobe Flash Player directly from Adobe’s official website and to disable the "Open 'safe' files after downloading" option in Safari Preferences/General to avoid automatically running files downloaded from the Internet. Also, do not turn on Java in Safari Preferences/Security. Few websites use Java. Javascript is something entirely different and should be left active.
(Adobe is aware of malware posing as its Flash Player and warns users to ignore any updates that didn't originate on its own servers. "Do not download Flash Player from a site other than adobe.com," said David Lenoe, Adobe's product security program manager, in an entry on Adobe Product Security Incident Response Team's PSIRT blog. "This goes for any piece of software (Reader, Windows Media Player, QuickTime, etc). If you get a notice to update, it's not a bad idea to go directly to the site of the software vendor and download the update directly from the source. If the download is from an unfamiliar URL or an IP address, you should be suspicious.")
Last, but by no means least, using Open DNS is the simplest way of preventing infection in the first place. Open DNS also protects against phishing attacks, re-directs, speeds up your internet connection, and works for all users of OS X from Tiger upwards:
    http://blog.opendns.com/2012/04/09/worried-about-mac-malware-just-set-up-opendns /
    How to get it:
    http://www.opendns.com/home-solutions
Java can present serious security threats: Users with Intel Macs running Snow Leopard OS 10.6,  Lion OS 10.7 or Mountain Lion should ensure that they have downloaded and installed all the recent Java updates from Apple, which are designed to prevent infection and also remove any infection already present.
New Macs running Lion or Mountain Lion do not have either Flash Player nor Java installed.
    +++ OTHER ISSUES +++
    HOW TO AVOID RE-DIRECTION
Adding Open DNS codes to your Network Preferences should give good results in terms of added security (phishing attacks, re-direction etc) as well as speed-up of your internet connection:
Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu, and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' add the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(You can also enter them if you click on Advanced and then DNS)
Sometimes reversing the order of the DNS numbers can be beneficial in cases where there is a long delay before web pages start to load, and then suddenly load at normal speed:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2296
There may be other ways of guarding against Trojans, viruses and general malware affecting the Mac, and alternatives will probably appear in the future. In the meantime the advice is: be careful where you go on the web and what you download!
GENERAL ADVICE ON HOW TO AVOID INFECTION IN THE FIRST PLACE:
    1. Avoid going to suspect and untrusted Web sites, especially p'orn'ography sites.
    2. Check out what you are downloading. Mac OS X asks you for you administrator password to install applications for a reason! Only download media and applications from well-known and trusted Web sites, i.e. the developers’ own web sites or the Apple App Store.  If you think you may have downloaded suspicious files, read the installer packages and make sure they are legit. If you cannot determine if the program you downloaded is infected, do a quick Internet search and see if any other users reported issues after installing a particular program.
    3. Use an antivirus program like ClamXav. If you are in the habit of downloading a lot of media and other files, it may be well worth your while to run those files through an AV application.
    4. Use Mac OS X's built-in Firewalls and other security features.
    5.  Avoid Peer-to-peer sharing applications. Download torrents (such as the now defunct LimeWire) supplying pirated software, movies etc are hotbeds of potential software issues waiting to happen to your Mac. Everything from changing permissions to downloading trojans and other malicious software can be acquired from using these applications. Similar risks may apply to using Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, YouTube and similar sites which are prone to malicious hacking:  http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8420233.stm
It has been estimated that one in six links posted on Facebook pages are connected to malicious software.http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-12967254
    6. Check for security updates from Apple using Software Update and install them!
YOUR PRIVACY ON THE INTERNET and the latest risks to look out for:
There is the potential for having your entire email contact list stolen for use for spamming:
    http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/20/technology/internet/20shortcuts.html?_r=1
And if you are using iPhone Apps you are also at risk of losing all privacy:
    http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/03/hacker-claims-third-party-iphone-apps-can-tra nsmit-udid-pose-se/
The advent of HTML5  may also be a future threat to internet privacy:
    http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/11/business/media/11privacy.html?_r=1&hp
NOTE: Apple's Snow Leopard, Lion and Mountain Lion operating systems silently update the malware protection built into Mac OS X to protect against a backdoor Trojan Horse that can allow hackers to gain remote control over your treasured iMac or MacBook.
    +++++ MORE POTENTIAL ISSUES +++++
    PHISHING AND POTENTIAL IDENTITY THEFT:
"Phishing" (also known as "carding" or "spoofing") refers to email that attempts to fraudulently acquire personal information from you, such as your account password or credit card information. On the surface, the email may appear to be from a legitimate company or individual, but it's not.
As a general rule, never send credit card information, account passwords, or extensive personal information in an email unless you verify that the recipient is who they claim to be. Many companies have policies that state they will never solicit such information from customers by email, and that includes your bank, credit card company, and Apple.
If you do receive email that you're not sure is valid, here are some tips that can help you determine its legitimacy:

If you discover that emails are being received by your entire address list which you didn’t send, it is possible that you have been infected by a Botnet.  Simply put, a bot – which is short for robot – is an automated computer program that allows outside sources to control computers remotely without the users' knowledge. A botnet is a network of hundreds or thousands of computers infected with botnet malware that communicates covertly with a command-and-control (CnC) server run by a type of cybercriminal called a botmaster. Unbeknownst to the individual users, their computers are linked in a rogue network which the botmaster can utilize for a variety of nefarious purposes.

    HOW SAFE IS YOUR SMARTPHONE?
Another source of malware, apart from sites like Facebook and Hotmail, is the Android Marketplace: more than 99% of Android phones are potentially leaking data that, if stolen, could be used to get the information they store online.
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-13422308
The data being leaked is typically used to get at web-based services such as Google Calendar.
The open nature of the Android platform is both a boon and a danger, and as Facebook have already discovered it is also a very attractive criminal playground.
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-12633923
Several pieces of malware have also been found on iPhones, however only devices that had been "jailbroken" to bypass Apple's security were affected.
The company's process of pre-vetting all new applications is believed to have spared its devices from a major attack.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST: BE GLAD YOU HAVE A MAC!
Some Windows PCs can be infected with viruses during the manufacturing process in the factories - in other words they can actually be purchased with viruses bundled with the operating system!
Several new computers have been found carrying malware installed in the factory, suggests a Microsoft study.
One virus called Nitol found by Microsoft steals personal details to help criminals plunder online bank accounts.
Microsoft won permission from a US court to tackle the network of hijacked PCs made from Nitol-infected computers.

  • Windows 8.1 Installation On Mac - Got a Problem

Windows 8.1 Installation On Mac - Got a Problem
    Hi everyone,
I'v researched a lot about installing Win on Mac but I still got a problem when everything seems to be fine.
I got a Macbook Pro Retina, Late 2013 with OSX Mavericks and Bootcamp 5 installed on. And for installing windows, I already got an empty 8GB USB Drive formatted as MS-DOS (FAT32). And I've prepared Windows 8.1 ISO in my Downloads folder.
During my last effort, I opened Bootcamp Assist and then Chose the options: "Create Windows 7 or later version installation disk" and "Download the latest windows support software from Apple". Then I chose my Windows 8.1 ISO location and my destination. When it finished ,I was expecting it to run windows setup. But it closed and nothing happened
When I opened BootCamp again, only the first two options were available as before and "Install or remove Windows 7 or later" wasn't.
Now ,what do I have to do exactly? (NOTE: I'm not a professional. So please answer in a simple way. )
Should I restart the Mac and Hold OPTION while booting to run Windows setup? I was thinking about it but I thought I might screw it up all. So I decided to ask it here to be sure.
Any help will be appreciated by heart!

    Hi Alcatrax,
I would recommend following the steps in this link in order to help you complete your installation of Boot Camp:
Boot Camp Help: Install Windows on your Mac

    Prepare your Mac for Windows
Boot Camp Assistant helps prepare your Mac for Windows by creating a new partition for Windows and then starting the Windows installer. Optionally, you can install Windows using an external USB drive that contains a Windows ISO image downloaded from Microsoft and Windows support software.
Important: If you’re using a portable computer, connect the power adapter before continuing.
Insert an external drive into the USB port on your Mac and keep it inserted while you install Windows and Windows support software.
Open Boot Camp Assistant, located in the Other folder in Launchpad.
Select the option to install Windows, select other options you need, then click Continue.
Here are the other options you can choose:
If you want to install Windows from an external USB drive and you have a Windows ISO image, select the option to copy the image to an external USB drive. If this option isn’t available, your Mac doesn’t support installing Windows from an external USB drive.
If you haven’t already downloaded the Windows support software for your Mac, select the option to download it. In a later step, you’ll install the Windows support software on your Windows partition.
Follow the onscreen instructions for the options you selected.
When you’re asked to create a Windows partition, specify a partition size. If you have multiple hard drives in your computer, you can select a different hard drive and create a single partition on that drive, so that the drive is solely used for Windows.
Note: You can’t resize the partition later.
If you need help determining the best size for your Windows partition, refer to your Windows installer documentation. For Windows 8, create a partition that is at least 30 GB.
In a later step, you’ll format the Windows partition.
If you are using an installation disc for the 64-bit version of Windows, insert it into the optical drive in your Mac or the external optical drive. Otherwise, keep the external USB drive with the 64-bit version of Windows inserted.
    Click Install.
Boot Camp Assistant creates the Windows partition, restarts your Mac, then opens the Windows installer.
Thanks for being a part of the Apple Support Communities!
    Regards,
    Braden

I am using an Mac PPC version 10.5.8 and I am trying to download the correct version of Flash Player.  I did once but I had to install a "Clean Install" of my computer and when finished I had put back the new Flash Player I just installed well every time I try install the new player it is place in my Trash Folder and I can not get Player to work.  I did everything I was to install it correctly but it still does not install it correctly.  Can some help me.  Bob

Some MacBook Pro versions cannot be upgraded past 10.6.8; others are maxed out at 10.7.5. newer models can go all the way to 10.10. So it is important to know exactly what version you have--there may be close to 40 variants produced since the MB made its debut in 2006.
You can safely give us a snapshot of your model and its current config that will allow us to deternmmine your model and its upgrade potential, plus show it you have any software that may impede any upgrades. Please download and install this free utility:
    http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck
It is secure and written by one of our most valued members to allow users to show details of their computer's configuration in Apple Support Communities without revealing any sensitive personal data.
Run the program and click the "Copy report to clipboard" button when it displays the results. Then return here and paste the report into a response to your initial post. It can often show if any harmful files/programs are dragging down your performance.
Remember that, on leaving OS10.6.8, you lose the ability to run older softare written for older PowerPC Macs (yours in Intel-based). Programs such as Office 2004 will no longer work (min of Office 2008 needed to work on newer OS versions), and AppleWorks will stop working completely

  • Is there any way to create an installer for Mac OS and Linux OS once a stand alone application is created?

Is there any way to create an installer for Mac OS and Linux OS once a stand alone application is created?  I have created an executable application that I want to distribute to Mac and Linux users (different applications were created in the respective OS).  I was wondering if there is any way to create an installer?  I think there probably isn't...  If the user were to simply download the Labview Run-time Engine from ni.com would they be able to run the application or is it more complicated than that?
Thanks so much for your time.

I think Shane tried to say, that it is on the Mac OS X installation DVD, NOT the LabVIEW for Mac OS X installation medium. And that could very well have changed in recent Mac OS X versions as well. They used to have Xcode on it too, but that seems gone as well.

  • Failed to Install The New Preview Build. Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80246007: FBL_AWESOME1501 9926 Professional.

    Hello,
I'm having issues upgrading my Windows 10 Technical Preview installation build 9879 to a newer build that's become available late January 23rd.
I am installing the new upgrade in a Hyper-V virtual machine and get the following error:
Failed to install the new preview build, please try again later. 0x80246007
    What could be the problem?
Previously I've had messages that Windows cannot be upgraded on a computer with less than 2 Gbyte of RAM. That's a Hyper-V VM with dynamic memory and I was highly surprised to see this error; never had this before. Had to set 2048 Mbytes as a minimum memory
for this VM. Now that I have this 80246007 error code.
When looking up System log, the following error messages are listed multiple times:
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80246007: FBL_AWESOME1501 9926 Professional.
The errors are returned for the Event ID 20 by WindowsUpdateClient
in task category Windows Update Agent..
    I reviewed the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicability
registry key as suggested in Windows
Insider stuck on build 9841 - "No new preview build was found", and here is what it shows:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicability]
    "BranchName"="fbl_awesome1501"
    "ThresholdRiskLevel"="low"
    "ThresholdOptedin"=dword:00000001
Note, when attempting to install the downloaded update from a native boot, installation starts with no errors.
However, since setup is not supported for a natively booted VHD files, it does not proceed further showing a message that installation on virtual drives is not supported.
Looks like Setup is having problems installing in a Hyper-V virtual machine.
Possibly, some ESD files got corrupted during downloading? Is it possible to remove them and re-download missing files? (I, however, noticed that Windows seems to re-download upgrade files after you restart 9879 and attempt to check for a new build.
Any clue why installing under VM causes 9926 to fail?
    Thank you in advance.
Well this is the world we live in And these are the hands we're given...

    Hi,
According to the error message, this problem seems like update package installation failed during system upgrade.
You can try to remove ESD file which locate at boot of C drive and upgrade the system again for test.
On the other hand, make sure the system 9879 installed all Windows pushed updates before system upgrade.
