A decent notes app.
Hi Guys,
I've almost completed my migration from a Palm Tx to an iPod Touch, but am struggling to find a notes app that does everything I want. What I'm after is something that can replicate the notes features on the Palm Tx. So I'm after:
Secure notes. Some of my notes will be credit card details and pins, or passwords, etc, so I need to be able to secure them with a password. I don't mind if the whole app is secured, or if it's on an individual folder or note basis.
Searchable. I need to be able to search all of the notes, including any secured ones.
Folders are a must. I would like to have a 'Finance' folder, that contains 'Bank Accounts', and 'Credit Cards', and then have the notes under there. I suppose one level of folders would do, but two or more would be ideal.
Off line use. I don't want to have to be connected to the internet to use the notes. I want full control over the notes on my iPod.
Backup to PC. I want to be able to back the notes up onto my PC, again without having to be connected to the internet.
Edit on PC. Finally, I'd like to be able to edit my notes on my PC, and sync them to the iPod. Similarly, I'd like to ba able to edit them on the iPod and sync to the PC.
Is there anything that can do this?
Thanks.
This doesnt fit all of your criteria but i suggest it to you anyway. The app is called 'AppBox Pro' it can be found in the app store for $1.19au. Within the app theres a category called 'wallet' where you can add all your credentials; bank account, credit card numbers and what not. You can also buy an additional security key for $1.19au which keeps all your information safe and secure. I am not sure about backing it up to your pc and vice versa but this is a good app that i use on a day to day basis.

My note app does not stay open
My note app does not stay open
<Email Edited by Host>Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

Questions on use of notes.app
Hello all.
I have a few questions on the use of notes.app.
1.) Is there a size/word limit on the touch 2nd generation?, I have OS4.1 installed.
2.) My second question is where are my notes stored/synced?
thanks,
bill
edited: -billI do not know about length/size. For the latter question the Users Guide (iOS4.2) states:
Syncing Notes
You can sync Notes in either of the following ways:
In iTunes, use the iPod touch settings panes to sync with Mail on a Mac or with
Microsoft Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 on a PC when you connect iPod touch to your
computer. See “iPod touch Settings Panes in iTunes” on page 50.
In Settings, turn on Notes in MobileMe, Google, Yahoo!, AOL, or other IMAP account
to sync your notes over the air (iPod touch 3rd generation or later) with those
accounts. See “Adding Mail, Contacts, and Calendar Accounts” on page 1 -
New Mountain Lion Notes.app Keeps Crashing
Hi everyone,
So I am running into serious problems with the brand new Notes App. Everything worked fine with the new notes.app in terms of iCloud syncing and everything, but then all of a sudden the app crashes every time I either try to edit the name of one of my iCloud folders, or if I try to add a new folder under iCloud, which currently has 3 folders. The folders under my other non-iCloud accounts seem to work fine. The error report is of the form:
Notes quit unexpectedly.
Click Repoen to open the application again. This report will be sent to Apple automatically.
Any ideas?
Thanks for any help!
JamesYou could probably use something like PhoneView
http://www.ecamm.com/mac/phoneview/
but, frankly, I thnk that's more of hassle than just setting up an iCloud or other IMAP account on the iPad.
Even if Notes syncing is the only feature you use, it's going to be a far more seemless experience.

My notes has crashed and here is the printout. It works fine in a guest account I created.

I have always been able to use my note app on my Iphone 3gs until recently. I have made no changes, no upgrades, etc. I checked the settings and it is turned on. It will not open and I have tried numerous times. What could be the problem and how can it be solved?
Thank you for any advice or information. This page is blank when loaded in Google Chrome and when using a WebKit nightly build with Safari on Mac OS X.
I suspect there's a server-side issue still happening. -
How do I move notes within the Notes App to a different account?
My iPhone4 has iOS 4.2.1, and I didn't realize until today that that came along with an updated Notes app that allows syncing with email accounts. Somehow I managed to unknowingly move about half of my notes to one of my email accounts, which deleted them from my iPhone's memory (although, still visible in the Notes App when synch is enabled). All I want to do is move these notes back to my iPhone so that I can turn off sync (without losing access to them) to hopefully avoid losing/misplacing any more notes, but I can't see any obvious way to do it. Any ideas?
Extra Info: This may have happened last night when I went through and viewed all of these notes so that I could delete old, useless ones. I didn't edit any of them (oldest was last editted July 2010), but that is the only thing I can think of.
Also, today, while exploring Settings, I discovered that the email account they all moved to (an IMAP, if that helps) was set as the default account (in Settings-->Notes-->Default Account drop-down menu). Hoping this was the source of the problem, I changed default to the "On My iPhone" option, went back to the Notes app and viewed all my notes again... Didn't work.
Hope all this helps clarify the problem--really don't want to lose these or future notes.
Thanks!should I just cry uncle and go to the local genius bar for instructions lol

iPhone Local Storage "My iPhone" - How do you create this folder for use by the Notes app on a iPhone or iPad? If I want to keep some notes only on my device and not in a cloud environment associated with an e-mail account. I've seen reference to the "My iPhone" local storage put no mention on how you create this folder or access this folder within the Notes app. I realize storing information in a local storage like this provides no syncing between other iDevices but that is exactly what I'm looking for. I'm running iOS7.0.4 on a iPhone 5S, and a iPad Air. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If you go to Settings > Notes > Default Account you will see "On My iPhone" as the default account and the only choice if you have not enabled syncing Notes in Settings >iCloud or Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars. If you have enabled syncing you can still select "On My iPhone" as the default account. When you are in the Notes app you won't see any accounts listed if you have not enabled syncing because they are all in the On My iPhone account and that is the only place possible. It is not a folder that you create.

I love the notes app, esspecially now that its sycronised with iCloud. I've downloaded and tried many similar notes/journal/task apps but nothing seems to compare to the one given to us from Apple. I think many of us multi-taskers would be willing to pay Apple for additional notes apps. (ie notes1, notes2, notes3, notes4 . . . ) We live in a multi-task world in which our demanding lives require us to move ahead and advance with several projects/subjects at one time. For a student it would be like having a 5 subject binder, for a business you could use each notebook to track a project, and for a writer each notebook could represent any creative thought that comes to mind. A few after market products come close to filling this void but I'd much rather have one notebook for each topic, that opens up directly by taping that topics icon on my ipad or iphone or mac. So thank you Apple for creating the notes app and giving it to us for free, now can you make additional notes apps available to is for a price? Ultimately, I would like to be able to add additional information to any of my my subject notes, as soon as the thought enters my mind.
Thank you,

I need help retreiving my notes from the Notes app in the iCLoud because I had to reset my iPad to get it working after i uploaded the latest version of IOS7. Can someone help me?
Hey ebe301,
Sorry to hear about your troubles with your PC. If you are not seeing your iPhone on your computer, then take a look at the link below to walk you through getting that working again. It will have you verify that drivers are installed and working as well as any third party software that may be causing conflicts.

I have many notes on my iphone and ipad notes app They used to be synced between the two Suddenly they disappeared from my ipad and then from my iphone., The notes came back to my iphone but not to the ipad. How can they be synced together and how can they stay on my devices without icloud taking them off.,
Welcome to the Apple community.
I'm not sure whether this works with notes, (it works with contacts etc) Paul might be worth a try:
Try turning off notes syncing in your settings > iCloud and then turning them back on, hopefully you will be given the option to merge your notes. Otherwise I am afraid you are going to have to transfer them manually in the manner which you have already described. -
Guide: how to extract text from any iOS notes app backup on your Mac
Scenario: you had a sweet notes app like DailyNotes, perhaps one that your girlfriend installed while you weren't looking. So it was on her iTunes account, lets say. Then one day you upgrade to a new iOS version and backup all your data. For whatever reason you erase your iPad, install the new version, and recover back all the apps from the backup. (Maybe you were beta testin g prior to that so you wanted to wipe it clean.) Still your data is gone! Or is it?
"Fortunately" you backed up. However all that this means is that the text you entered into DailyNotes is stored somewhere in your backup, inside of a file named something like
"8f5d7ff4111c9b9e4c8dbb7395efdce9c260e0de-20110814-232318", encoded in a .sqlite database file wrapped inside that data.
Now, if you reinstall the DailyNotes app (or whatever) off of the app store under your own user account, will you get your data back as well? I honestly don't know. But I tried to find out, and I could get no straight answers. Most people said I'd lose my data, and the only way to get back my data would be to restore from the old backup, which of course would erase my current data! So I'd have to backup, then restore from the older backup, then restore from the newer backup again. Does anyone realize how LONG these backups and restores take? FOREVER! I don't have that much time guys. I just need a fast way to access a simple text file. Why does iOS make this such a chore? It's my own content, my own data, which is mine, my copyright, my intellectual property, and the iOS is hiding it from me inside an anonymously-named text file.
SO HERE'S WHAT YOU DO:
Download mono framework here and install it: (free)
http://www.go-mono.com/mono-downloads/download.html
(this can be easily uninstalled later, it has an uninstaller app)
Download iPhone Backup Extractor here and extract it in your Downloads directory: (free)
http://www.iphonebackupextractor.com./free-download/
(this can be easily uninstalled later, just delete the folder)
Download SQLite Database Browser 2.0 b1, and extract it in your Downloads directory: (free)
http://sourceforge.net/projects/sqlitebrowser/
(this can easily be uninstalled later, just delete the app)
You can move the two apps to your Applications directory if you intend to keep them long-term, but you can run them just fine from the Downloads directory which will make them easier to identify and erase after you're done, if you don't plan to keep them around.
Go to Finder and open the iPhone Backup Extractor directory. Resize that window to the side of your screen.
Go to Terminal and set the window where you can see part of it if the previously mentioned Finder window from the last step was floating on top of it.
Type "cd " (yes that's c, d, space) in Terminal then hit command-Tab to switch to Finder.
Drag the folder icon from the title bar of the finder window into the Terminal window that's now in the background. For you newbies, the "title bar" is the VERY topmost edge of the window (the frame of the window) which should have a folder next to the words, "iPhone Backup Extractor" visible in it. You're clicking and dragging THAT folder icon into the terminal window in the background. HIT ALT-TAB AGAIN WHEN DONE.
Now you're back in the Terminal and it should say:
"cd /Users/yourname/Downloads/iphonebackupextractor-latest" after the unix prompt. HIT ENTER.
Now type:
mono iPhoneBackupExtractor.exe
This will run the iPhone Backup Extractor app. It takes a few minutes to load because mono is slow (it's emulating Windows basically). Be patient.
NOTE: The Backup Extractor can only see backups stored on your boot drive that are in the users folder of whatever user you're currently logged in as. So if your backup is on an external drive or a CD, etc., just copy it to the desktop.
Once iPhone Backup Extractor loads, you'll see its window where you can select the backup. Select whichever one you want to work with. Then hit Expert mode. Each app that was on your device at the time you made the backup will have a directory shown. It will be named something like:
com.ramki.dailynotes
Expand the one you want to recover data from by clicking the plus sign next to it. Then expand the Documents directory for it. You'll see a file called something like Daily_Notes.sqlite. Click the dark black box next to this and a checkmark should appear.
Once you've checked the file to recover, click "Extract selected" below and save to your Desktop (or wherever!).
Now quit iPhone Backup Extractor unless you have other data to also extract.
NEXT... OPEN the app SQLite Database Browser 2.0 b1.
Once it loads, open your Daily_Notes.sqlite file (or whatever .sqlite file you extracted, not necessarily Daily_Notes, that's just my example). If you followed my previous steps that file will be on your Desktop.
Once it loads you'll see three buttons at the center of the window near the top called, "Database Structure," "Browse Data," and "Execute SQL." CLICK ON "Browse Data."
Now on the left-hand side of the window there is a pop-up menu with the word "Table: [POP-UP-MENU-IS-HERE] "... CLICK on the pop-up menu. It will actually say the name of one of the database files that's within the SQLite database, something like "ZAPPSTATE" or "ZDAYDATA" or whatever (not "POP-UP-MENU-IS-HERE", that was just text I put as a placeholder since it could be anything really).
Now that you've clicked the pop-up menu, select each item one by one and look at the data that appears in the table.
(Don't worry, you're just working with a COPY of the file, so if you accidentally delete anything it's not a real problem, just delete the .sqlite file and start the steps over from the beginning of this message.)
You should eventually find a table that has the text that you're looking for! Mine was called "ZDAYCONTENT".
WHEN YOU ARE LOOKING AT THE DATABASE TABLE, it looks like an Excel spreadsheet. That means you may have to double-click on the database cell to get it to show you the entire contents of that part. (It only shows a truncated text string in each cell, but if you double-click, a new window will open on top of the current window, showing the full text that was in there.) Now you can copy the text out and paste it into another app like Text Edit or MS Word or Pages, etc. You can also export the data in the File Menu > Export to an SQL or CSV file. (CSV is a text file where the data is all there, just separated by commas. This can then be imported into Excel or Numbers or another database or printed, etc., or just opened into Pages or Word or BBEdit etc.)
CAVEATS: Dates will often be shown as a weird number like 3780 or 2863 etc. You may have to figure out on your own what this date means. I honestly have no clue. SQLite Database Browser does not seem to support viewing or exporting PNG and image files.
Other than that good luck. Post any questions here.
AND HEY, APPLE: MAKE THIS EASIER! FILES BELONG IN FOLDERS, NOT INSIDE FOLDERS THAT ARE INSIDE APPS!!!Restore iPad data from backup files, with the help of iPad Data Extractor:

Looking for a good note taking app: Are there new features for the Notes app in iOS6?
Hi,
I've read that the Notes app with Mountain Lion will be available for OS X as well, and I was wondering if there will be any significant updates to the Notes app coming in iOS 6?
The Notes app in Mountain Lion supports, as far as I know, text formatting, images and attachments. The Notes app in iOS 5 does not have any of these features, yet still it is claimed that the OS X client will sync with the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. This means that there must be some rather significant updates coming for the Notes app in iOS 6 to match up with the features of its Mac counterpart. Still, no updates to the Notes app are listed in any of the iOS 6 feature lists I've seen so far.
I'm looking for a good note taking app for OS X and iOS. I don't like how Springpad works, neither did Evernote work out for me, it's just too complex - I like Simplenote a lot though, it's just that its approach is too radical in my opinion. I was thinking that the Mountain Lion Notes app might be a good alternative because it combines simplicity with rich text formatting and attachments. I kind of hate the skeuomorphic user interface though.
best, IanYou are only addressing other iPad users here & no Apple employees. We have no way of knowing, so you'll have to wait until iOS 6 is released.
Here's some general info.

Is there a note app that syncs with the native iphone notes app
Looking for a feature rich app to pull notes from the native iPhone app. I Like holding down the home button to tell Siri to take a note but want to do more with the note after she has taken it. Is there a note app that pulls from the basic iPhone notes app?
You Both can Add one email Account on Both Phones and then sync the Calender With Email - This way when one will add a reminder or event it will automatically synced to the other

I'm looking for a good note app with pen function for taking notes ( in English and German ) during business trips. Can anyone help?
Really sorry to hear about this, particularly when you're putting your life on the line. But Apple cannot track your iPhone in any way unless you had set up Find My iPhone prior to it being lifted.
It's possible that AT&T might be able to do something, but it's probably that they cannot track it, or will not without a request from an authorized law enforcement agency, but rather would only disable the device. You'll have to try and find a way to contact AT&T directly and ask if they can do anything to help you; the chances of any AT&T employee in a position to help you spotting this thread it pretty small.
Good luck, stay safe, and come home soon.
Regards.
