A duplicate DVD made on my iMac will not play on it although the original DVD will play on it and on my TV. Answers?

I made a duplicate of a DVD on my iMac but it will not play on it. The original DVD plays on my iMac. The duplicate will play on my DVD player with my TV. The original DVD is not a copyrighted commercial DVD.

That doesn't create a DVD. It makes a copy of the files on the DVD. All you did was put data files on the disk. A disk must be formatted correctly for a DVD player to recognize it as a DVD.
Use Disk Utility to make an image of the DVD, then burn the image to Disk.
File menu, New>Disk Image from <DVD name>
Set the image format to DVD/CD Master.
Once the image is finished, select it in the Disk Utility Sidebar and click the Burn button.

It sounds like you have done some great troubleshooting for your iPod nano that is not responding. In this situation, if resetting it did not resolve, I would suggest restoring the iPod back to its factory settings and then sync your content back onto it from iTunes. Running idvd 7.0.1; will not burn; just spits out the blank dvd

Using idvd for the first time. completed project and tried to burn on Dvd. Used 2 different blank dvds. After inserting, the dvd is ejected with no message.
Any ideas?

A. Save as a DiskImage first - and see if this is OK - just to separate encoding from actual burning process.
B. memorx dvd-r and panasonic dvd-r are no favorites of mine - I only use Verbatim DVD-R
C. I set down burn speed to x4
D. I secure a minimum of 25Gb free space on Start-Up (Mac OS) hard disk to let iDVD and Mac OS run as intended
E. I run a Cleaning DVD from time to time
If that doesn't help
• Trash iDVD pref file
• Repair permissions
• Repair hard disk
Still problematic then control what material is used
• Video codec
• Audio file format
• Photo file format

If you still have the entries for the songs in your iTunes library (even if the actual music files no longer exist), then iTunes assumes that you already have them and that there is no need to re-download them - try deleting the entry for one of them from iTunes and then try re-downloading it, and if it works then do the same for the others

When you get to "Now Playing", tap once on the artwork in order to see the timeline of the playing song. Look on the left side, the repeat one button is probably active.
Tapping once this icon bring the repeat option, tapping again will bring the repeat one option. There you can also tap the shuffle button on the right.

I've seen some discussions about issues like this but none that have a solution. I had an imac a couple years ago and transferred all my home movies to dvd using imovie (4 or 5?) and idvd. They play fine on my television.
I now have an intel imac and would like to use it to make ISO files of the dvd's so I can stream them to my tv using a mediagate server. My understanding is that I load the dvd, open disk utility and use it to make the iso file. I have tried six of my dvd's and every one is rejected after DU tries for a few minutes, accompanied by an error "Unable to create XXX.drc input/output error." Some of that wording may be slightly off, but it's close.
Is there some setting I have failed to properly set? I can play the dvd's in dvd player so they seem to still be good. But I can't copy them.

Correct me if I'm wrong.
An ISO file is basically [in my understanding] a diskimage.
[xxx.iso]. Since you created these DVDs yourself, they are not protected, so you don't need to rip them. You can simply open TOAST, take your DVD, copy the 2 folders on the DVD to the desktop, drag the folders [AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS] into TOAST [set to 'data', 'ISO 9660' 'select','new CD'] and then choose 'save as disk-image'. Naming is quite restrictive: 8 uppercase letters and/or numbers only.
This will give you an iso-file; a diskimage of the original DVD.

Im running windows 7 64 bit. installed itunes 10.5.4.1 and now cds will not import or play. If i have the cd in the drive and then open itunes it will importor play but after removed the next disc will not read. the system has passed the cd/dvd test.

I ve tried completely removing itunes and reinstalling. also unchecked autocorrect and find art and track names which did not work as well. Any ideas of how to fix this?

Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

When there is a mismatch between the iTunes Store's records and your credit card company's records, you will receive an error message

If the issue persists, contact your credit card company and verify that they and any company they use to process credit card authorizations have the correct information on file.

One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

My purchased I-tunes songs will not import to I-Movie or I-DVD

Just recently every time I export a purchased I-Tunes song to I-Movie or I-DVD, I get a pop-up saying that the song is not authorized to be played on my computer. Even though the all the purchased songs play fine while in I-Tunes itself they will not export to I-Movie or I-DVD. Each time the pop-up comes up to authorize the song, I go through and authorize it, and it tells me it was successful. It lied. The songs still do not export even though I authorized the computer. I have noticed to a tiny little lock in the upper left hand corner of the icon for the songs, but only for the purchased songs. I think that may be part of the problem. I'm not alone with this problem. I have spoken with other frustrated people with the identical problem. The purchased songs exported just fine until recently. I was told by a computer nerd that the problem lies with quicktime which doesn't allow I-tunes to export to I-Tunes or I-DVD. Apple Support was not helpful. Does anyone know how to fix this problem. Have you already disconnected the DVD recorder from power for at least 5 minutes? If not try this and disconnect it from power. Then try it again to remove the DVD.
In worst case the drive is malfunctioning and it must be repaired from an authorized service provider in your country.
