A dv9000. Which port is the usb 2.0?

My Device Manager says that out of my four usb ports, three are usb 1.0 and one is an enhanced usb 2.0 speed, but there are no markings, or any way to tell which is which. Does anyone know how to tell? Thanks in advance..

There's no number beside Service tag
Incidentally, I called HP tech support with this same question and I was told that, because my warranty had expired, I'd have to purchase a service contract to "UNLOCK" this information.
There's nothing listed in the user guide. Imagine!! I have to pay for information pertaining to my computer specs. I wasn't asking for him to fix it...just give me specs that should be in the user guide.
That's enough reason to shop at another place for my next computer.
I'm not the good representive I used to be for HP.
Thank you for whatever help you can give me on this matter.

  • How to find which port on the switch that it connected with Mac address?

    Hi,
I am trying to find which port of the switches it connected to thru mac-address?
I am able to get the mac-address from the ip address when i do
"show ip dhcp binding snooping" at the core switch.
But when I move on to the Edge switch to check which PC with this Mac address connected to the port,i returned with no result.(onli trunk port result)
I use sh ip arp | inc 000d.60cb.445d
but didn't give me which port it connected to.
    How to solve this problem?
    thanks!
    KL

    Hi KL,
If you are already on the edge switch you can run a command "sh mac-address-table address " and it will give you the port number.
Incase you get a port which is a trunk port that means the end device does not exist on this switch and exist on some downstream switch. So you can just find out the ip address of the downstream switch with "sh cdp neigh detail" command and connect to that downstream switch and then again issue the command "sh mac-address-table address " and check the port number and follow the above steps till the time you get the switch on whcih end host is connected.

If I know which port is used, I can manage it (give it to low priority)

  • How to find which Port has the highest traffic (both in/out) in switch

    Hello,
    I have a 3550 switch with 48 port having 12.1 code.
Need to know which port is causing the highest traffic , i mean to track which user is downloading/uploading the most.
I was able to track this in CATOS with the command sh top and that will tell the port, but in IOS based switches i was not able to find
    Can some one help.

You can try with the following command:
    show interfaces summary
Output shows the traffic for all ports instead of the top one only, but you can find the top from this output. Or you can install an MRTG or Cacti for monitor the used bandwith.
    bye

Please rate me if I helped.

  • I cannot pick up Wi Fi in the area of my house that is my office. For a windows laptop I use a plug in (to the mains electric)  booster which connects via the USB port. This will not work on MacbookPro as the USB will not recognise it. Why is this?

Do I need the ethernet to thunderbolt adapter available at £25 from apple store? Will this work?

Hi -before you go buying new cables, I would ask, is your booster only designed for Windows computers or does it have also have an installation setup with drivers for Macs - this could be why the Mac doesn't recognize it.

  • Which port is better usb or  gigabit ethernet?

My Canon printer has USB 2.0 and an Ethernet port. Is there a performance or functionality preference?
My Airport Extreme base station has both types of ports as well.

    gig ethernet.

  • The USB port on my 4th generation Airport Extreme does not recognize any peripheral devices whatsoever.  In other words, it does not function at all.  What can I do?

I have had my Airport Extreme for almost a year now.  I have not been able to get it to work.  It has never worked.  I have tried everything in the apple manuals, my peripheral device manuals, and online help.  My Airport Extreme Base Station has a completely dead USB port.  The USB connector does have voltage and ground.  Apparently there is no data transfer.  I do not know how to test the data pinouts.  I don't know if it is a software or driver problem, or if it is a hardware or wiring problem.  My computer is a mid-2009 13" MacBook Pro.  All of my external devices work well with the MacBook Pro.  The USB functionality on the MacBook Pro has always performed without a glitch.  It seems the problem with the Airport Extreme must either be a network communication problem or a hardware/hardwire problem.  I bought the Airport Extreme to build a home inTRAnet network.  I have a seperate 3rd party router for inTERnet.  Contrary to what the manuals declare, the initial setup of my Airport Extreme requires inTERnet setup during the process.  Even when the choice is made to limit the network access to LAN only, when I reach the end of the setup process, a prompts reads that the Airport Extreme may not function because I have not set it up for inTERnet with the WAN.  Well, Dah...  during the intial stages of the setup I told the machine to configure an inTRAnet only LAN setup.  So...  I went ahead and set it up for inTERnet and WAN.  Either way, the USB port is not working.  Then I set it up for the whole package, WAN, LAN, and everything.  Still... no function out of the USB port.  Any ideas?
P.S.  The Ethernet works and so does the 802.11 tranceiver.  The USB port is the only problem, but a major, major one for my needs.  There is no peripheral functionality.

Okay so I figured it out.  I inherited the Configurator already set up so I didn't realize that our former administrator was brilliant and set things up a little differently.  To anyone else who finds themselves in this spot try this:
After you plug the iPad in and open Configurator instead of trying to 'Prepare' the device click 'Assign'
There should be groups of Users listed on the left hand side of the screen.
Select the group you want the ipad to be a part of, or make a new group. ***Note a group can be one person so this is a good feature for teachers to have individual app assignements for students.
After you select the user group click the little plus ( + ) button on the bottom of the screen under the second column of info where names and device serial numbers should appear.
Type the name of the person, group, whatever you want to identify that assignment by into the blank that pops up after you hit the plus ( + )
Then select the assignment you just made and tohe 'Check Our' button at the bottom.  At this point a box will pop up with a window at the top listing all devices supervised by Configurator.  There is a tiny down arrow button that opens a scroll down menu to the right of this box.  Click that, then select the device connected by USB as the one to assign.
The name of the assignment you gave it will show on the lock screen now and you can assign apps and profiles to the device like you would any other device in your Configurator inventory.
    Good Luck.

  • Are the USB/Firewire ports powered?

I have an external hard drive that is powered by the USB of my powerbook- and I noticed that the 20" display features usb and firewire ports.
Are they self powered? (the spare ports on the apple keyboard are not- i.e. yu can't charge ipod from them)
    Any advice is appreciated
    Thank you

    The official specifications say:
<< Two-port, self-powered USB 2.0 hub, two FireWire 400 ports and Kensington security port >>
So the USB hub should be self-powered. However, from my experience, connecting the iPod (or any other bus-powered USB device) to the display doesnot work as expected.
Maybe it's because I have all four ports (USB and FW400) occupied, and one of the FW devices is also bus-powered.

  • How can I play itunes music through one of the usb ports on my new MacBook Air?

    Greetings Everyone.
I just purchased my first Mac product I want to be able to play music from the itunes app from one of my usb ports to the usb port on the front panel of my Yamaha CD changer. I want to utilize the buit-in DAC of the Yamaha. A friend was able to run his Ipad through it but I can't see a way to run my MacBook Air through it. When I go to System Preferences -> Hardware -> Sound the only item listed for Output is "Internal Speakers".
    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

    Reset the SMC and PRAM
    SMC Reset:
    Shut down the MacBook Pro.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    PRAM:
    Shut down the MacBook Pro.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

    Dear All,
Hi. I installed my Java WSDP. How do I know that whether the Registry Server is running, and which port is the registry server running on?
Can you please advice? Thank you very much.

A sidenote: it's x window or x, windows is a software product from a certain company in redmond, WA.
Also: on unix/linux it's 5801 (access via http/browser using an applet) and 5901 (access via client/native vnc protocol). Only on windows 5800/5900 (vnc port 0) is used.

  • I have three ipods, none of which is being recognized by my itunes. I have the current editions and tried different USB ports. The mouse works just fine in the USB port. I have reset the ipods. Any ideas if it's the USB or the ipod or what's going on?

I have three ipods, none of which are being recognized by my itunes. I have reset each ipod, with no results. I wonder if the problem isn't with the USB ports. The mouse works fine in each port; nothing happens when I plug in the ipods. I have tried two different USB cables. I have no other USB devices with which to test. I have made sure I have the most recent updates and rebooted the computer.  Any idea what is going on?
