A fairly simple question with a quick answer :)

Hi there,
So i have just purchased a mac pro to edit on.
I currently run Final Cut Studio on a macbook pro. I purchased final cut studio in Feb 06.
I need to uninstall FCS from my macbook pro. What's the easiest way to do this?
However, the main question...
Can i then install all of the same version of Final Cut Studio using the installation discs i used to install it on my MBP on my new Mac Pro. (Bare in mind i will uninstall FCS on my macbook pro)
Also, if if this is possible - Can i upgrade to Final Cut Studio 2 on the new Mac Pro once the previous version of FCS is installed?
Many thanks,
Jamie Mc

It is possible.
Make sure you don't happen to have the lappy hooked up to the network at the time you install on the Pro.
Also -- there was something I thought that changed in the EULA that said you could "could" have it on a desktop AND a laptop... but don't quote me. If it isn't in the EULA then you can't have it on both...
But yes... you can install on the desktop for sure and then take it off the lappy.
Good luck,
CaptM

  • Verizon Customer Service?  Now that's a question - with no good answers.

    Verizon has gone to great lengths to create in me something much more that a dissatisfied contract customer.  All the aggravation was exacerbated March 09 when my annual "UPGRADE" time came 'round.  Circumstances cause that I keep expenses to a minimum and my cell is the only phone I have.  A disabled Vietnam Vet 65 years into this first quarter of my life - I've pretty much been there, done that and got all the T-Shirts.
    Explaining to the CS rep in March that a bigger screen would be a great help I came to, or by, the Samsung Brightside. I am a real old timer but I eat drink and sleep computer stuff (PC) and many things electronic.  I have a fully operational audio production studio in my home and write, produce, do voice-overs for and publish not-for-profit videos - most supporting our brave men and women in harm's way.  I have, of necessity due to a battle royal for over a year with a certain major concern that seems to think they own parts or portions of my operating system, Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and bare-knuckle fighting inside my OS has caused collateral damage.  I have completely wiped and performed a clean re install of my OS twice in less than a year.
    So, when I get a "NEW PHONE" from Verizon I'm all excited about getting it up and running and performing at least to the degree it is advertised as being capable of.  The SAMSUNG BRIGHTSIDE, I have deduced after many hours struggling with it is simply a joke.  The BRIGHTSIDE absolutely had to have been some marketing scheme that was designed, constructed and put on the market by SAMSUNG without one minute of research and development.  It was as though they tried to define "BASIC" in a cell phone with this product and wrapped it in a very attractive package - until one tries to simply pick it up.  Go to the Samsung/Verizon site that lists the phones specs to try to keep pace with requisite formats for music, sounds, ring tones, videos, photos and data and if you do not speak CODEC and FORMAT good luck even trying to load onto say a 16 gig external MicroSanDisk your own music, sounds, ring tones, videos and oh! yes pictures.  Verizon has a "proprietary software cement program called "V-CAST".  Written, instilled as part of the permanent footprint of the Verizon product and it simply does not like some "owner/customer" trying to circumvent it's sole purpose which is to funnel the owner customer into a controlled position whereby if "it ain't from Verizon - it is licensed to fight you to the death.  Right now I could give lessons on exactly how and what to do to just be able to locate the files from your own library and view them on the phone.  In fact I will give lessons if I'm asked but first I'll try to convince whomever to switch to SPRINT - thanx to Consumer Reports, and my now cemented dislike for recorded CS events with Verizon.  When I wrote in a previous entry here - "It's on now!", I was not kidding.
    Taking a close look at the "My Account" page with Verizon I come across an offer they make to buy your no longer needed phone(s) that are free of obligation.  I needed to find something to hopefully make me feel a little better for the wear.  Thinking about it angers me even more so it is simply this:  My Blackberry Storm 3590, Verizon's appraised value, $7.00 - that's SEVEN dollars US.  My LG Cosmos, $0.00, as in ZERO Verizon appraised value.  So, that discovered surely Verizon must hold the new SAMSUNG BRIGHTSIDE (although "just a basic phone" as the manager of the Draper, Utah Verizon store rather bluntly said to me), here it is:  $12.00 - All in one pile no less...
    I feel so used...

    What bothers me is VZ  and some may disagree with me should respect our vets who fought for the right of people to form and own companies and what little freedoms and privacy we are privileged with. I approach a door and  It offers military discounts I am more likely to do business there again. Verizon has lost it they show no respect anymore for their customers regardless of their circumstance the more I read in this posts I am glad that I don't work for them I would have to hang my head in shame after all these posts. It seems like they are snake oil salesmen who need to be tarred and feathered and run out of town

  • HELP PLEASE HELP! urgent question with an easy answer!!!!

    Hello;
    I designed a JFrame game, that uses gif files as ImageIcons. The game works perfectly when I run it from console with the java.exe command.
    However; now I want to create a wraparound and run the JFrame in the Internet Explorer from an applet. So I created a new file that extends JApplet; this new file creates a new object of the JFrame-game's class and show()'s it.
    And I created an HTM file that runs the JApplet class. However, the internet explorer cannot open the applet because it has trouble loading the pictures (gif files). How can I load the pictures from my applet for my frame???
    I dont want to change the Java security file. I just want to make the images accessible by my applet. I cannot use commands like setImage in my applet because my JFrame sets the Images.
    (I repeat)My JApplet only invokes an object of my JFrame class and shows it.
    PLEASE HELP PLEASE PLEASE..
    Thanks..

    OK; let me tell you the whole thing. My pictures are in the same folder for sure.
    My JFrame reads pictures and assigns JButtons pictures. when I run the frame there are 16 buttons with the same picture, and when I click the buttons there is a listener in the JFrame that changes the pictures. Simply put, the JFrame has no trouble finding and loading the pictures.
    Then I created a JApplet as follows:
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class MemoryApplet extends JApplet
    public void init ()
         GameFrame ce = new GameFrame ();
         ce.show ();
    GameFrame is the name of the JFrame class. Then when I try to open the applet using IE, it gives the following error:
    Exception: java.security.AccessControlException: (javax.io.FilePermission back.gif read)
    back.gif is one of the gif files that are used in GameFrame

  • Simple question with arrays

    Im a couple days new in java, Ive been searching for an answer for hours and havent found a solution.
    This is the mistake it shows (when trying to use any element of the array):
    array required, but java.util.ArrayList <java.lang.String> found
    The array is:
    public static ArrayList<String> numList = new ArrayList<String>();
    Im filling it this way: (so that it contains each word of a file in separate)
    BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new FileReader("Archivo.txt"));
    try
    while(true)
    String aLine = br.readLine();
    if(aLine == null) throw new EOFException("Le?do todo el archivo.");
    if(!aLine.equals(""))
    StringTokenizer st = new StringTokenizer(aLine);
    while(st.hasMoreTokens())
    numList.add(st.nextToken());
    }catch(EOFException e)
    The problem comes when I try to use the elements of the array (in specific when trying to convert each element of the array to int, so that i can do math operations with them).
    for example:
    for (a=0; w>a; a++)
    int x = Integer.parseInt(numList[a])
    Can anyone help me with this? (where is the mistake and how to convert from string array elements to int)
    Thank you // Muchas Gracias

    The trouble is that you're confusing ArrayLists with arrays. They're not the same thing.
    Currently you're making an ArrayList. If you want an array of String, do this:
    String[] myArray = new String[50];
    int i = 0;
    while(st.hasMoreTokens()) {
      myArray[i] = st.nextToken();
      i++;
    }Or perhaps better yet:
    String[] numListArray = numList.toArray(new String[0]);But you really don't need an array for what you're doing. Use an Iterator.
    Iterator<String> strings = numList.iterator();
    while(strings.hasNext()) {
      int x = Integer.parseInt(strings.next());
    }You get the idea. Read the Collections tutorial about iterators. Read the language spec about arrays. Also look at the java.util.Arrays class.

  • Repost: Simple question but no one answers

    I have to repost this, there is no way I can find the solution on the forums. Tried everything...
    Scenario:
    UIX page with READ-ONLY table. User selects some row and clicks button. Event fires.
    How to retreive selected READ-ONLY row????
    Please help, this is urgent. I would need some code or pseudo code.

    Finally I did it. Here is how.
    In UIX page with a table drop submit button and add event to it:
    <event name="cur">
    <method method="myCurrentRow" class="model.TestUtils"/>
    </event>then create custom java class:
    package model;
    import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest;
    import oracle.adf.model.BindingContext;
    import oracle.adf.model.binding.DCBindingContainer;
    import oracle.adf.model.binding.DCIteratorBinding;
    import oracle.adf.model.binding.DCUtil;
    import oracle.adf.model.servlet.HttpBindingContext;
    import oracle.cabo.servlet.BajaContext;
    import oracle.cabo.servlet.Page;
    import oracle.cabo.servlet.event.EventResult;
    import oracle.cabo.servlet.event.PageEvent;
    import oracle.jbo.Row;
    public class TestUtils
    public static EventResult myCurrentRow(BajaContext bc, Page page, PageEvent event)
        HttpServletRequest request = bc.getServletRequest() ;
        BindingContext bcc = HttpBindingContext.getContext(request);
        DCBindingContainer dbc = DCUtil.findBindingContainer(bcc,"dataPage1UIModel");
        DCIteratorBinding study = dbc.getIteratorBinding("StudyView1",null , "StudyView1Iterator");
        Row currentRow = study.getNavigatableRowIterator().getCurrentRow();
        Object[] o = currentRow.getAttributeValues();
        for (int i=0, l=o.length; i<l; i++)
          System.out.println("i = " + i + "o= " + o[i]);
    return null;
    //return new EventResult(new Page (page, "ForwardName"));

  • Real quick question... quick answer

    Got title view of pages in the sitemap.
    But there are a host of external links on every page. I
    really don't want to see them. I just want the actual local pages.
    Now, before you suggest "View/Hide Link" --- Remember, there
    are dozens of these external links on every page. It will take a
    prohibitively long time to select and hide each link.
    So, very simply, can I view JUST the local pages by title...
    easily?

    i can't see any information on the MBOX on MSI's global website, but i'd guess if its a small barebones PC, its likely to only take a micro-ATX mainboard, unless its a proprietory design, like with the Mega PC

  • Noobie simple question with || operator

    while(!keyb.nextLine().equalsIgnoreCase("y" || "n"))
    keyb is my Scanner variable -- i know its kinda stupid but it's late and I feel dumb atm
    its not letting me put the || "n" part in...maybe something is wrong with the syntax?
    Edited by: sheky on Sep 12, 2008 6:31 PM

    This line of code has two basic concept errors.
    The || operator, is applied to booleans
    logicalValue || logicalValue"y" and "n" are Strings not booleans and the || operation is not allowed.
    The second error is that, the result of a || operation is a boolean and the equalsIgnoreCase method expect a Object as parameter, to call its toString() method and compare it to the associated String.
    What you probably want is:
    String answer;
    do {
        answer = keyb.nextLine();
    } while( ! (answer.equalsIgnoreCase("y") || answare.equalsIgnoreCase("n") );

  • Simple question with deleting from computer

    I imported a couple of my cds to itunes in order to move them to my ipod, but now that they are there I do not want them on my computer eating my memory. Can I delete the songs from my computer without deleting them from my ipod?
    Thank you

    If you want to delete songs from iTunes and keep them on the iPod you need to change the update option of your iPod to "manually manage music and videos". Your iPod will not sync with iTunes in this mode so it can have different content, you can get details here:
    Managing content manually on iPod
    iPod 101: Fill 'er Up
    One major word of caution. If you delete songs or videos from your computer and have no back up other than the iPod you will risk losing them permanently if your iPod fails or you find you have to restore it to solve a problem. You should consider investing in an additional internal or external hard drive to store/back up your music. Alternatively at the very least back up anything you can't replace such as iTunes downloads to CD or DVD: How to back up your media in iTunes

  • HT5312 i am trying to make a download in itunes and everytime i try to download it asks for my security questions. i answer the questions with the correct answers but it says they are incorrect, what is the problem?

    i am not able to get there because the questions keep popping up

    You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.

  • A simple Question - I need the answer

    Hi,
    How I will be connected in a database with Migrate Session (user: sys as sysdba) from SQL*Plus application?
    Thank you

    I thought it was clear as I gave you a link  the FAQ.
    Ibooks is for ipad/iphone/ipod.  You do not read them on your computer.

  • Quick MIDP2 question (needs a quick answer!)

    Do all MIDP2 phones have a 'C' (cancel) button?

    I...
    1. Searched google (with no answers)
    2. Asked on here
    3. Found the info elsewhere
    4. Shared the answer
    Nothing wrong with that.

  • Just a simple question with restoring.

    Alright, so I am about to sell my iPod Touch, and I just finished restoring, I didn't set it up at all, so that the customer who purchases it can follow through with the "Hello" screen and set up everything themselves... But since I want to leave it in this state, I can't really figure this out myself without setting it up. So, when the new person goes through the setup screen, it won't somehow keep the old Apple ID or iCloud accounts to select right? Before I restored it, I logged out of my Apple ID and iCloud, turned off iMessage, and FaceTime, just in case. So, I am pretty sure the accounts won't be there, right? I just need some verification although I am pretty much sure it should be 100% clean of my old content.

    Hi
    If you have logged out and restored from scratch everything accounts wise should have been wiped along with the rest of the content. I recently sold my iphone 4 and thought the same thing after restoring but the new buyer set it up next to me and i never saw any of my account info come back up!
    Hope this helps
