A family member passed me down their iPod, but how do I get it to stop asking me for their password?

Every time I want to update or download an app, it shows their email and asks for their password. Is there a way I can get it to stop and only ask for my password?

Apps will always be tied to the acount form which they were purchases and will always have to be updated using that account.
For itunes:  you can sign out of the itunes account and sign into your under Settings.
You should read the manual:

It appears that something happened to yur computer/iTunes files.  It happens sometimes.  To recovery:
    - Import the old music into the current iTunes library
    - Make sure all the apps are also in the library
    - If in the USA and therplaces where iCloud has benn released you can redownload most iTunes puchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    - You can always redownload apps at no additional cost as long as you are singned into the same iTunes account the originally purchased them.
    - After all the suff in in the iTunes library, make a backup of the iPod by connecting the iPod to the computer and right clicking on the iPOd under Devices in iTunes.
    - Restore the iPod from backup and restore as necessary.

You have to activate a new iPod by either setting it up via wifi network that has an internet connection on to connect to a computer that has iTunes and an internet connection.
You can go to an Apple store or or to a friend's house if necessary

  • HT1414 I restored my ipod, and when i click on back up, it asks me for a password and i forgot that password. Is their any way to reset the password? I need that back up immediately!

My little sister restore my ipod 5th generation and i want to restore from my last back up. It says, "Enter the password to unlock ipod touch back up". I forgot the password. Is their a way of reseting the password or taking it off?? Please help. (im doing this form my imac)

    Either:
    - Do not restore form that backup
    - Copy the backup file to PC and "crack" the password. and then use that password to restor on your Mac.
Where iTunes backups are stored on your computer
The folder where your backup data are stored varies depending on the computer's operating system. Make sure the backup folder is included in your periodic data-backup routine.
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, and choose Run. Type %appdata% and click OK.
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata% and press theReturn key.

No one here will help you violate iTunes terms of service or steal music.

  • Why can my children lock and erase other family member Apple devices from their Apple ID?

I recently setup iCloud Family Sharing for our home of 5 people.  My personal and unique Apple ID is the controlling parent ID.  Others in the family are my wife and 3 children (1 over 18 and 2 under 18).  Today I logged into iCloud from one of my kids Apple ID and noticed that it allows him to see everyone elses device location and also gives him the authority to turn on Lost Mode (which locks the device) and to Erase each device.  I then logged out and logged into another childs Apple ID and it was the same thing.  They could each see everyone's devices including my personal Mac Book Pro, both the iPads my wife and I use and the family iMac.
Essentially that means my kids each have the ability to erase or turn on lost mode for anyone elses device which is kinda scary.  Now, perhaps you are thinking that I somehow messed up and put my kids Apple ID as the Organizer for iCloud family share but I can assure you I did not.  When I go into iCloud to see the hierarchy it clearly shows my Apple ID as the Organizer and the others are simply shown as family members and are not authorized to approve purchases.  I also do not have my kids Apple ID setup on my personal Macbook Pro or my personal iPad as an account so there's no connection that way.
That said, I also wondered if my kids could really do anything to my personal devices or if it would ask them for my password or lock code before doing anything, so I tried it by logging into my son's iCloud account using his Apple ID.  I located my personal iPad and then told it to turn on Lost mode.  And sure enough it locked my iPad from my son's iCloud account.
So is this how it's supposed to work or is something wrong with iCloud rights for device management?  It seems totally wrong that my other family members have such control over other family member devices.
    Thanks

    Hello sbrown02,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you would like to know why the people in your Family Sharing group have access to your location and that ability to put a device in Lost Mode. Lost Mode is a function available with location sharing and can be toggled off or on. Please reference the attached article for more information.
Family Sharing and location - Apple Support
Use location sharing with Find My iPhone
If you join family sharing and choose to share your location with family members, they can locate and secure a missing device for you.
If you enabled Find My iPhone on your missing device, a family member can:
See the location and status of your device
Play a sound on your missing device to help you find it
Put your device in Lost Mode to help you find it
If you don't share your location with family members, they will be able to see that your devices are online or offline and play a sound to help you locate your missing device. They won't have access to any location information about your devices.
    Best regards,
    Joe

  • A family member has given me her iPhone. How do I delete her Apple ID and replace it with my own

A family member has given me her iPhone. How do I delete her Apple ID and replace it with my own ?

Any Apps that have been downloaded with her Apple ID will remain Tied to that ID...
You should consider doing a Restore as New and start over with your ID...
Connect the Device to the iTunes library on your Computer, click on the Device tab that appears in iTunes and click Restore.

  • TS3989 My 5th gen ipod touch was stolen.  I removed the device from my iTunes account, but their pictures still show up on the photostream on the one I purchased to replace it.  How do I get this to stop, the cops have no interest in their faces, nor do I

My 5th gen iPod touh was stolen a month ago.  I immediately removed that device from my account and yet today I looked at my photostream and there are tons of pics of these people on my photostream.  How do I get this to stop?!?

Change your iCloud ID password: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5624.  After doing so, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new password.

  • How do I get all the songs from an album to show in the album view?  Currently, if an album lists the artist plus a guest artist, those are shown separately and appear to be two different albums on my iPod.  How do I get all the songs on that album togeth

How do I get all the songs from an album to show in the album view?  Currently, if an album lists the artist plus a guest artist, those are shown separately and appear to be two different albums on my iPod.  How do I get all the songs on that album together on my iPod?  If the album is a collaboration wtih many artists, each sond may appear as a separate album.

I used to have this problem.
First, you need to go back on iTunes
you need to go to each of the songs that are having this problem
Click the album so all the songs drop down
Right click the songs that have this problem
    Click ' Get info '
Click the tab that says " info '
The box that says ' album artist ' should probably be empty (correct me if I'm wrong)
Click it and type the artist of the entire album, NOT the songs guest artist
    as such,
    ARTIST
    JAY-Z Feat. Justin Timberlake
    ALBUM ARTIST
    JAY-Z
These should be separate for each artist
If you write the same album artists for each song by that artist, all the songs should be on 1 album

  • I'm trying to restore a new ipod but it keeps asking me for the passwords of itunes accounts that are not mine.

It is trying to restore my new ipod from the backup cloud, but it keeps asking me for the passwords of three different itunes accounts, two i know are my friends accounts and I don;t even know whoose the third is.  I must have some of their music on my library or something, but it won't backup without these passwords it seems.  Is there a way to get around this?  I have the music in my Itunes library and can listen to it all I want and burn it on cds but I cant get it to go on my ipod without their passwords.  Can i switch it and just have it sync to my computer and not this icloud?  My other ipod didnt ask me for these passwords when I tried to sync it.

If you have music that was purchased on different iTunes accounts than the one you use, then you must provide the password, otherwise the tunes are not considered yours.  You can turn off iCloud and just use the usual USB sync method.  But I wonder whether you'll have the same problem?

  • My ipod 4th gen gets wiped clean of music anytime I sync. it then only redownloads some of the music in the library and wont upload missing songs.  They show on the ipod grayed out. How do I get this to stop? re-uploading takes 4 hours.

my ipod 4th gen gets wiped clean of music anytime I sync. it then only redownloads some of the music in the library and wont upload missing songs.  They show on the ipod grayed out. How do I get this to stop? re-uploading takes 4 hours and is never completed.  I only get some of the 6000+ songs I have. This started when I updated to IOS5 i think.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
