A favor to ask

i figured this would be the place to ask this question. Do you think Apple would be able to make an iChat compatible for a Windows PC? that would really be neat because i like iChat more than AIM and any other instant messenger program that can be run on Windows. I would really like for them to be able to do this, and i didn't know where else to ask.

Hi lmakeeper88,
Welcome to the Apple Discussions
iChat is not likely to be cross feed like iTunes.
Questions like this are considered to be speculation of Apple Products and their software.
Speculation of these are not allowed by the Terms and Conditions
2. Submissions
* Search or browse for existing answers before you ask a question. Someone else may have asked your question — it may save you some time.
* Stay on topic. Apple's discussion forums are here to help people use Apple products and technologies more effectively. Unless otherwise noted, don't add Submissions about nontechnical topics, including:
o That Apple rumor you saw on another website.
o Discussions of Apple policies or procedures.
o Speculations/rumors about unannounced products.
o The status of your 1973 MG Midget restoration.
* Don't threadjack. Be sure your response relates to the topic. If you're reading about iPods and want to discuss your iSight, find the appropriate topic or start a new one.
* Be polite. Everyone should feel comfortable reading Submissions and participating in discussions. Apple will not tolerate flames or other inappropriate statements, material, or links. Most often, a "flame" is simply a statement that is taunting and thus arbitrarily inflammatory. However, this also includes those which are libelous, defamatory, indecent, harmful, harassing, intimidating, threatening, hateful, objectionable, discriminatory, abusive, vulgar, obscene, pornographic, sexually explicit, or offensive in a sexual, racial, cultural, or ethnic context.
* Don't be a troll. A troll is someone who strives to disrupt a constructive conversation by posting flames or specious arguments. Trolls sometimes impersonate another user by posting under a false user name. If you have a troll in your midst, let an Apple Host know.
* Post constructive comments and questions. Unless otherwise noted, your Submission should either be a technical support question or a technical support answer. Feedback about new feature requests or product enhancements are welcome too. Don't post non-constructive complaints, polls, or petitions.
* Do not post a URL unless it directly answers a user's question. If any portion of your Submission, including any posted URL, results in any accrual of compensation or benefit to you, then you must note this in your post by stating, "I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link."
* State your question clearly. Include as much information as you can about your issue. At minimum, include:
o The operating system you're using and its version.
o The names and versions of other relevant products.
o A complete description of computer and connected peripherals.
o What you were doing when you ran into this issue. Example: I'm using Mac OS X 10.3.4 on a 20-inch flat panel iMac with 768 MB of RAM and 15 GB free space on my hard disk. I have an X-brand PDA connected via its USB cradle. iCal 1.5.2 unexpectedly quits when I add an event. Tip: As in the example, a good description of your computer includes how much RAM and how much free hard disk space you have.
This can mean the thread will disappear before you read the answer.

    Hi guys,
    I have a favor to ask : May somebody would be nice enough to open this Labview 2009 VI and save it in a Labview 8.6 readable VI  ? You'll probably have some missing blocks cause I use specials ones but I don't want to have to re-make all the VI.
    Thanks you very much

  • A favor to ask of you...

    Hello,
    I am starting a wedding videography company and I need to see if my Flash wedding demo plays smoothly on the web for my website. Could you please go to the below link to check it out? I need to know if there are any stutters. Could you also note if your computer is directly connected to the Internet or if it's wifi. I'm most interested in g bandwith wifi as that will be common.
    http://www.design.iflair.net/steaming/index.html
    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Peter,
    I bought this $5 pdf file:
    http://www.proappstips.com/EncodingRecipes/
    It seems really useful. The examples are links, e.g
    http://www.proappstips.com/EncodingRecipes/pageFlash.html
    so that you can see how they look online.
    Actually, the .swf file does download first. It goes into
    the browser cache so you don't see it.
    Here's a summary of how I encode now:
    1. In FCP, I crush the blacks. Using the color corrector effect,
    I limit the effect to blacks and dark greys and make them
    all black so you don't see dark grey noise swirling around.
    2. In FCP, I bring up the mids and crop if necessary,
    so that the image "reads" even if it's small.
    Good time to clean up and compress the audio, if necessary.
    3. I then export the edited excerpt to a full-sized good-looking codec,
    preferably the same codec as the original or something like h.264.
    4. Then I use Quicktime Player to export to .flv (I have the codec from
    my Adobe app install).
    a. Normal On2 VP6 codec, set to high (although Flash 9 supports h264,
    which will be even better!)
    b. Resize to values that are a multiple of 8, so 600 x 336 for 16:9
    or 504 x 336 for 3:2.
    c. Select mp3 at 192kbps for the audio.
    d. Reduce framerate by an even number, so 30 fps becomes 20 fps,
    and 24 becomes 16.
    In Flash, make sure the player doesn't make the video any larger or smaller.
    I hope that helps.

  • A favor to ask of any C-OCI programmer to prove a DBMS bug....

    I am looking for someone good and kind enough to write a C+OCI
    program that does this trivial thing:
    Make a connection, prepare a statement for execution, with no
    parameters, simply to execute "TRUNCATE TABLE MYTABLE".
    Then the program should execute the statement. Then, it should
    print out to stdout "TRUNCATED MYTABLE. Press <enter> to repeat",
    and read stdin until it gets the newline, and then executes the
    statement again.
    This program will demonstrate the failure of the DBMS-client
    contract. The user will start a SQL-PLUS session and create
    that table, and insert rows (and commit). Then, in another
    window, the user will start this C program, which will truncate
    the table, and wait for further input. Then the user will verify
    from SQL-plus that the table has been truncated. Then the
    user use SQL-PLUS to add more rows to the table, and commit.
    Then the user will press <ENTER> at the C program, making it
    re-execute the TRUNCATE statement (apparently successfully)
    and exit. The user should then see in SQL-PLUS that the second
    batch of rows are still there.
    Joe

    Hi Joe,
    I'm not sure I would call this a database bug, rather it seems more like a documentation bug/omission. In fact, the issue is correctly identified in the 11g OCI docs for the OCIStmtPrepare function:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28395/oci17msc001.htm#i575144
    In particular:
    Before re-executing a DDL statement, call this function a second time.
    It looks like the designed behavior is to ignore subsequent invocations of DDL without calling OCIStmtPrepare as a server round-trip does not appear to take place. So what you are seeing may not be the desired behavior, but it appears to be the expected behavior.
    For example, a tkprof of the scenario you describe shows:
    truncate table mytable
    call     count       cpu    elapsed       disk      query    current        rows
    Parse        1      0.00       0.00          0          0          0           0
    Execute      1      0.00       0.01          0         57         13           0
    Fetch        0      0.00       0.00          0          0          0           0
    total        2      0.00       0.01          0         57         13           0Having said that, here's a (very) basic bit of OCI code to illustrate this...
    DISCLAIMER(s): I am not an OCI programmer. I am a DBA and I sometimes live in the .NET world. This is very basic and contains bad practices such as hard-coding and no error checking.

  • Can someone please help me with a java assignment

    Hey all,
    I have a favor to ask I have a program that I need for my java class, I have the just of it but I can't figure out the rest, can anybody please help me here is the directions:
    Let's revisit fibonacci numbers, looking at it as a process involving iteration and arrays. Create an array fib[] of 101 elements. Make fib[0] = 0 and fib[1] = 1. Then, in an iterative process going from 2 to 100, compute fib[k]. These numbers get quite large; make it an array of double.
    Then, let the user select a number (such as 7) and have the application display the corresponding finbonacci number (in this case 13). Do this as often as the user wants. If a number larger than 100 is provided, display an error message, but don't terminate the program.
    Here is what I have so far: Please add on and feel free to return to me please, thank you:
    // This is an application that transforms numbers into their Fibonacci number
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class Fibonacci {
         public static void main( String args[] ){
              int k; //simple counter
              int numSize; // how many numbers were entered
              int theNum; // the number entered by the user
              String response; //response of the user
              // define the array
              double fib[] = new double[ 101 ];
              // read in the numbers into an array
              k = 0;
              response = JOptionPane.showInputDialog( "Enter the first number" );
              theNum = Integer.parseInt( response );
              while (theNum > 0){
                   if (theNum > 100)
              k++;
              fib [ 1 ] = 1;
              fib [ 2 ] = 1;
              response = JOptionPane.showInputDialog( "Enter the next number, negative to end" );
              theNum = Integer.parseInt( response );
         } // end while
         numSize = k;
    // terminate
    System.exit( 0 );
    }// end main
    } //end class Fibonacci

    Try this program..Hope it helps
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class Fibonacci
         static double fib[];
         public Fibonacci()
              fib = new double[ 101 ];
              fib[0] = 0;
              fib[1] = 1;
              for(int i = 2; i < fib.length; i++)
                   fib[i] = fib[i -1] + fib[i - 2];
         public static void main( String args[] )
              boolean end = true;
              String response = "";
              int theNum = 0;
              new Fibonacci();
              while(end)
                   response = JOptionPane.showInputDialog( "Enter the number. 999 to end" );
                   try
                        theNum = Integer.parseInt( response );
                        if(theNum == 999)
                             end = false;
                        else if(theNum <101)
                             String Message = "The Fibonacci number at "+ theNum + " is : "+ fib[theNum - 1];
                             JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, Message, "Fibonacci Number", JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE);
                        else
                             JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "Input should be less than 100", "Error", JOptionPane.ERROR_MESSAGE);

    Your code is against the basics of PL/SQL..
    Why are you sing DYNAMIC SQL?
    And all these values (QTD,YTD..) - Cant you find it in plain SQL..?
    Plase provide sample data (CEATE TABLE and INSERT statements) and expected output..
    Provide the logic to arrive at expected output..
    And your DB version..
    And use {noformat}{noformat} tags to format the code and data you post..
    What you are doing is *COMPLETELY WRONG*

  • Please help me if you can Svet!

    Svet, I am new to these forums, been reading around here for a bit and see that you seem to be a very capable person. I have one favor to ask of you sir. Can you get your hands on the original Vbios for the r6950 2GB Twin Frozr II?
    I saved my original bin, I swear! The problem is it was grouped with a bunch of other non-important files and I accidentally deleted it with the rest.

    LoL
    My first attempt at contacting customer support: fail.
    I asked for the video bios for my r6950 Twin Frozr II and I gave them my serial number... and they reply with a link to download a video bios for an NVIDIA card and tell me to use NVFLASH.EXE to install it.
    Hopefully the same person doesn't answer me this time
    Yes, try again

  • Uploading/Importing 30 GB Windows formatted Ipod Playlist to my MacBook?

    All the music on my iPod is from my old PC. I just want to connect my Windows formatted iPod to my MacBook and have all my music on there imported onto my iTunes and then update my iPod under my MacBook, but this seems to be too hard of a simple favor to ask. Does anyone understand or can help me out with my situation? Anything? I would really appreaciate it!
    Thanksssss

    Just hook the external hdd up to your MacBook Pro.
    OS X will mount it as a usable volume when you connect it.
    Nothing special you need to do.

  • ArchLinux Newsletter for February 22

    Greetings, and welcome to the ArchLinux weekly newsletter for the week ending February 22, 2004.
    Front Page News:
    NEW KERNELS ABOUND
    Hi all,
    First off, a huge thank-you to everyone that has donated over the last couple of days. We now have enough of a start to pay setup fees and the first couple months on a new server. You guys rock.
    Now, an update regarding the new kernels... We're planning on using 2.6.3 as the default kernel for Widget's release, so I've renamed the 2.4 kernel packages for more consistency. We now have four kernel packages:
        * kernel24
        * kernel24-scsi
        * kernel26
        * kernel26-scsi
    As you know, the kernel26 packages write their bzImages as /boot/vmlinuz26 so that they can coexist with a 2.4 kernel. I've left the kernel 2.4 bzImage as /boot/vmlinuz for now, to avoid breaking too many users' boxes. But keep in mind that I may rename them to /boot/vmlinuz24 sometime in the future. Watch out!
    Another effect of the package renames is that the setup script had to be updated. This means that you will have to re-download the root.img disk image to do an ftp-based install. The old one will look for the 'kernel' package, which no longer exists.

    FUN WITH BANDWIDTH COSTS
    As most of you know, the recent review on OSNews has brought a large influx of users to us. While we're overjoyed to have so many new users, the bandwidth costs associated with all these new --sysupgrade'ers is going to cost me a lot of money that I don't really have.
    To curb the trend, I've had to cap transfer speeds on ftp.archlinux.org. They now sit at 20 K/s with a max of 30 users at a time.
    So, long story short, I have a couple of favors to ask:
       1. If you can volunteer to be a mirror, please contact me.
       2. Please download this perl script, which will use the "netselect" program to re-sort the server lists in pacman.conf, lowest ping times first. You can run it like so:
              # ./sortmirrors.pl </etc/pacman.conf >pacman.conf.new
          Make sure pacman.conf.new looks okay, then move it into place:
              # mv pacman.conf.new /etc/pacman.conf
       3. If you can spare a few bucks for a bandwidth-hungry distribution, please donate. We're looking to get another server, but the donations just aren't there yet.
    Thanks a lot everyone. We'll keep on making it if you keep on running it.
        Editor's Note: The perl script now comes with the new version of pacman, and the download cap has been lifted.

    This Week on the Forum:
    Rasat made a request that we try to clean up the forums to make it easier to read. One idea was to put [RMx] for remove, [MVx] for move or [FXx] for fixed / resolved, in our topic titles. Read about it here: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=2773
    Neocephas wrote a CUPS HOW-TO for Arch. It's still being worked on, so go help out over here: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=2757
    This Week on the Mailing List:
    After the announcement by Judd about the bandwidth troubles, people raised some ideas for saving bandwidth. One was randomizing mirrors automatically via pacman. Another was to take the Full 0.5 ISO off of the main ftp site, because it's out of date anyway. Neither of these have been implemented yet, but discussion is still ongoing. Read the threads at:
    http://www.archlinux.org/pipermail/arch … 00844.html
    http://www.archlinux.org/pipermail/arch … 00853.html
    The idea was brought up again about multiple flavors of kernels. DanG also asked if multiple 2.4 or 2.6 kernel packages could "live together". The answer was no. A 2.4 and 2.6 kernel can co-exist though. Judd stated that there were no plans for different flavors of kernels (like "failsafe") and instead people should be building their own. Read the thread at: http://www.archlinux.org/pipermail/arch … 00872.html
    What's happening with the TUR mailing list:
    We're currently looking to assimilate a couple more Trusted Users to run their own repository and help test packages from /incoming. The system now requires sponsorship. So if you have submitted a lot of packages to /incoming that have made their way into the repositories, the TUs will be willing to sponsor you. If you are interested, join and mail the TUR Mailing list: https://lists.berlios.de/mailman/listinfo/tur-users
    This Week in Dev Land (by Jason Chu):
    Manolis Tzanidakis (zen_guerilla) left the development team.  He has decided to work on his own personal distro and won't have time for both.  We wish him well.
    Tobias Kieslich (neri) and Damir Perisa (dp) have joined the dev team.  They've started adopting packages and are still learning how everything works.  They are a welcome addition to the dev team.
    We now have a new package server.  All the regular traffic goes to the original server but ftp.archlinux.org is now on a different one.  This one has a higher limit on bandwidth but if you use a mirror please continue doing so.
    We are debating if/how to add f77 and gcj compilers to gcc.  The best suggestion is to have seperate packages that depend on gcc but gcc is a scary package so it's still being researched.
    The gcc question brought up another: should we implement multiple packages per PKGBUILD file?  It was agreed that a single package per PKGBUILD is much simpler and more like the arch way.  At the same time, we still have some issues to work through because of this simple method.
    There are new disk images on ftp.archlinux.org.  They're more modular and have support for keymaps, xfs/jfs support, and raid/lvm.  The setup scripts don't support all of these new features but the advanced user will be able to use them.  There will also be an expert install script to support these features.
    Xfree86 licensing is still being researched.  An interesting link was found: http://www.xfree86.org/legal/licenses.html
    An 0.6-base-BETA1 was released.  It's available on the archlinux ftp server.  Feel free to test it.
    An Archlinux goal/philosophy/social contract document was mentioned.  Judd said he was thinking about this already and we will probably start one soon.
    A number of packages were found to be missing urls and md5sums.  Namcap will detect this and spit out an error.  If anyone finds PKGBUILDs with these missing, they can submit a bug report for that package.
    Package Highlights:
    Updated init scripts were released this week. They provide a more cleaned up boot process.
    reiserfsprogs 3.6.13 was released this week. This fixes a bug that can prevent a ReiserFS partition from booting. Read about it here: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=2614
    GCC, Coreutils, the kernel and some other core packages were updated this week. These types of upgrades can be risky sometimes, so be sure to submit any problems you have to the Bug Tracker.
    Pacman 2.7.4 was released this week. Changes are:
            - fixed a bug in conflict handling, where installing a conflicting package would fail even if the new package "provided" it
            - if pacman sees a newer version of itself during an upgrade, it will ask to install itself first, then be re-run to upgrade the other packages.
            - You can now use the --info option with --sync to display an uninstalled package's dependency info.
            - Added a sane umask before db writes
            - buffer overflow fix (bug #442)
    FAQ of The Week:

  • My narration is gone Adobe premiere elements 10 PC

    My audio narration plays perfectly in adobe with the video and had been able to record previously when I did publish and share to an mpeg.  The audio is narration recorded in Adobe Premiere elements.  The video will publish but no audio comes with it.  I've checked all of the settings mentioned in other forum questions

    jzd
    We are pleased that you were able to complete your project successfully.
    But, I have a favor to ask of you in the name of troubleshooting this audio issue.
    Do you still have the project file from which you exported successfully (video and audio) to mpeg? From what has been said, you probably have the narration on Audio 2 right now.
    Could you reopen the project, move the narration from Audio 2 to the Narration Track and do your export again. When you do, is the audio gone as before or is it now there in that mpeg export?
    Is it just one narration clip involved or multiple narration clips? Was the narration created in Premiere Elements with its Narration Tool or created in another program and then that narration imported into Premiere Elements 10 with its Get Media/Files and Folders?
    If you do not have time, I understand. But, if you do have the time, the information would be much appreciated.
    Thank you.

  • What is an MDD worth these days?

    I'm considering an upgrade, but don't know if it's worth trying to sell my MDD 1.25. I took a quick look on ebay and I see one posted for 450 in a buy it now. Anyone sell or buy one recently? I think I'd be packaging it with the MOTU 2408 audio recording hardware, and it's got 2 hd'S and 2 disc drives.
    I suppose this is a subjective issue...what it's worth to me might not be someone else's preference....but still, it would be helpful to hear some opinions.

    I've always found this site to be pretty reliable as far as current market prices,
    and have sold / traded machines at what they estimate the cost is, minus 15% for every year
    the machine has been in use:
    http://www.everymac.com
    and according to them this is your current (base) worth of your mac:
    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powermac_g4/stats/powermac_g4_1.25_dp_mdd. html
    So in this example, they estimate that if your machine was NEVER used, still in a box,
    with all OEM accessories and software, it's worth $675.
    A 3 year running in service machine would be 45% ( 3 x 15%) LESS than $675, or
    $371, a five year running machine would be 75% (5 x 15%) LESS than $675, or
    $169.
    Your accessories, if they are new, you could add the cost of them back in.
    If they have been in the machine for a year or more, deduct 15% off their retail cost, per yr of operation.
    So say you have a five year running 1.25MDD ($169), you added a WDD 320GB HD
    (retail $75-(5x15%)=$0) + a second Optical Pioneer superdrive ($30 -(5 x 15%)=$0)
    all bought from newegg.com, then you'd sell it for $169.
    Now, same scenario, but you just bought the optical drive
    ( less than a year old, with receipt of purchase)
    and you just bought the WDD 320GB HD
    ( less than a year old, with reciept of purchase),
    then you could charge ($169+$75+$30=)$275.
    Keep in mind, when a person is buying a used computer, its like buying a used car:
    Their goal is to buy a machine in the hopes that all the major "kinks" have been
    worked out, and if not, buy it at close to FMV ( Fair Market Value) so as not
    to get "buyers remorse" when the first major repair comes along.
    If you've done the majors (replaced an OEM boot Drive, and OEM optical drive,
    the PSU /Cooling Fan exchange) it goes a long way in your favor and asking price.

  • Help with a Flash Template??

    Hi,
    I need to learn how to edit a simple Flash template and I
    don't have ANY time to be messing around with it.
    So, I have a HUGE favor to ask of someone here.
    I've put the template I'm going to work from on my
    server….You can see it here:
    www.adzfusion.com/test_files/flash.swf
    And download it here:
    www.adzfusion.com/test_files/FFBusinessBlocks.zip
    What I'm looking for is for someone to just use one of the
    colored boxes (say, the orange one?), as an example and show me how
    to edit it.
    If you could use Camtasia or www.jumpcut.com (free) and make
    a quick video showing how to get into the code (or wherever I need
    to get) and show me: 1. How to change the components like text, and
    color of the little box, and 2. How to change the content and
    graphical elements of the page that the box links to.
    Anyways, if you can do this small favor for me that would be
    great. I CAN pay you, but like I said, there's no budget for this
    project (yet) so it would be a token sum….However, ongoing
    business/work (with good pay) will be available to you once our new
    service takes hold.
    Anyways, PM me or post back and let me know how much (or
    little) you'd be willing to do this for :-) ….And maybe we
    can post a link to your video here in the forum, so others can see
    it too?
    Thanks so much!

  • Tile Based Collision Detection

    I am following Tonypa's Tile Based Tutorials and I have to
    say, they are great. He covers everything needed, except for one
    thing I am troubled on - Refering to Tutorial 9,
    http://www.tonypa.pri.ee/tbw/tut09.html,
    Stupid Enemy, instead of an enemy I want to make this a NPC who
    walks around in a village. So what do I do to make it so that I, or
    the char, doesn't walk right over the enemy/NPC? I am trying to
    develop an RPG, and it would look silly to have the character walk
    on top of the NPC. Can someone provided a snippet on how to make a
    collision detection with the NPC and not walk on top/under the NPC?
    One last favor to ask: What if I want to talk to the NPC if I
    am within a half tile? Would anyone be willing to share info on how
    this as well?
    Thanks a bunch in advance

    Ok, let me see if I get the read correct here: you have your scenery objects as tiles and when moving your players/NPC's through the scenery you are not scrolling the background as you go, but when you get to s certain point you want to scroll the tiles of the background also, so you can have new scenery cycle in as needed an still have the tiled background objects and new tiled background objects work for collision detection.
    If my take on your project is correct, then you have to make your tiles addressed with relative addressing formulas as you'll probably need to do with your sprites also.
    So the way this will go is that you have to make an offset and add them into your formula based on your character position. Then based on your character position you can choose to scroll your tiles left, right, up, down or what ever you choose to support. As a tile falls fully off the screen, you can dispose of it or cycle back through depending on how you implement your background.

  • Intel iMac install disc versions

    I have a big favor to ask of all you forum members. I have install media from different intel iMacs that I need to distinguish from one another. As far as I know, the discs from a 17" iMac with integrated graphics will not work on a 17" iMac with Radeon X1600 graphics, nor will they work across the Core Duo to Core 2 Duo bump. I'm looking for the AHT and any other distinguishing information from these discs so I know which iMac they belong to. Here's what I know so far:
    17" Core Duo w/ integrated graphics:
    • AHT version 3A108, Disc version 1.0, MacOS 10.4.7
    17" & 20" Core Duo w/ Radeon X1600 graphics
    • AHT version 3A100, Disc version 1.1, MacOS 10.4.4
    All other models I do not know. Can those of you with other models post your install disc versions? I'm looking for all the intel iMac version from when they were released (though I believe I have the first generation above) through the iMacs available right now, as we have all kinds on our campus. Please include the disc 2 version (the 2Z691-xxxx-x number) as well.
    Thank you to everyone who can contribute!
    17" Intel iMac Mac OS X (10.4.9)
    17" Intel iMac Mac OS X (10.4.9)
    17" Intel iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    Unfortunately I can't give any detailed information since I only have the original iMac CD (disk version 1.0) but until others chime in, here's some information that might be helpful.
    AFAIK, it should be possible for the latest version of the OS/Install to work across all iMacs but not the reverse (my original DVD will not boot one that requires a more recent version of the OS or the newer C2D architecture). That being said, each install media set should have the OS version appearing on the disc. You may be able to deduce (or narrow it down) by comparing the OS version and the time the specific iMac model was released. The more recent the Mac revision, the more recent the OS (or at least that is usually the case).
    10.4.4 January 10,2006
    10.4.5 February 14, 2006
    10.4.6 April 3, 2006
    10.4.7 June 27, 2006
    10.4.8 September 29, 2006
    10.4.9 March 13, 2007
    The Core Duo iMac debuted in January 2006 and should have (initially) come with 10.4.4.
    The Core 2 Duos debuts (I believe) in September of 2006 and likely shipped with 10.4.7 (or 10.4.8 although the first one is more likely).
    Not much help, I know, but it's a start.

  • Anybody willing to enlighten me please?

    Hello FCP users.
    I am in a co. that wants to establish an FCP based editing suite. However, I know as much about FCP as a farmer knows about solid based rocket fuels. So, if there is anyone willing to help me out I will be highly obliged.

    Are you looking for someone local to you to hire? If so a place to start would be to go here.
    http://www.apple.com/software/pro/training/certifieds.php
    I did a search under India and came up with five folks who are certified for FCP by Apple.
    If you are looking for a leg up on becoming a FCP user, and you want help from the people who frequent this forum, you will do yourself a favor by asking narrow, focused questions, after making a reasonable effort to find the answer on your own.
    In the context of your current question, it would be helpful to know what business you are in and whether you are an editor, or were an editor in the past. What edit systems you are familiar with?
    If you are not an editor, what is your job, and what would your involvement in the suite be in the future?
    What types of projects would be produced with the FCP system you need to establish?
    And what does a farmer know about solid based rocket fuels?
