A few Online Number Questions

First of all, I live in Canada and it doesn't appear that I can get a Canadian online number. Any idea when that will become available?
Also, is there any way to change the Call Display feature to display not only a business name, but also a number that is DIFFERENT than the online number. As I cannot get a Canadian online number, I would need the call display to read my business name, and then the local Canadian phone number that I would like people to call (so they avoid long distance charges).
Any help you could provide would be apprecaited.

You would need an Online Number to receive calls from telephones with your Skype account, and a subscription (or Skype Credit) to be able to call telephones from Skype. Except for Caller ID (depending on what country your Online Number is from), Online Numbers do nothing for calling telephones.

Online Number Question - Telemarketers / number ch...

If I pay for a year subscription to the online number and 2 months in need to change it because telemarketers are now calling it is there a charge?

Question re Online Number

hello there -- i am contemplating subscribing for an online number but i have a question i can't quite find the answer to...
i understand that with my own number, anyone from anywhere call call me on it, and pay their local rates for making that call.
for instance, if someone in belgium on their cell calls me in france on my online number, they pay what they normally pay to reach me or my voicemail.
my QUESTION is, CAN I 'call them back' from my skype online account for FREE --
if so, is this only the case if they are SKYPE members.
and/or
do i have to also subscribe or have 'pay as you go' per minute credit on account to reach them via skype, by return.
if not, do i have to take the number they've left and go through my local phone carrier at local charges?

A Skype online number is for incoming calls only. If you want to make an outgoing phone call you need an appropriate subscription or Skype credits.

Skype bare and free provides you means to talk voice and video from the application with all your friends who have Skype too on their side. Though you need to connect with them first. Add them manually or through some importing to your contact. There you have the basic capability.
Then you can add with credit or subscription (I personally think that the subscriptions now with 50% off yearly are absolutely great) a few services.
1. Outgoing voice calls to real numbers. They have plans for landlines and mobile with diff prices for diff countries. Again check the promos now for good deals.
2. Incoming voice calls from real numbers when you buy the online number. Alas its not available for all countries yet.
3. You can set your ID so when you call / outgoing voice, people can recognize you.
4. To go number that can let you call long distance and abroad as local call.
And more I guess.
I find their outgoing call quality as unparalleled to any other provider. Call quality from Canada to Israel is usually on par as land line and superior to Bell.

Online number - difficulties and errors

Dear Sirs,
I'm using an online number in Skype network such as XX2-55-55. It is very similar to the number in one of the biggest airline companies in my country. As I think the company is also using Skype online number which is XX5-55-55. The problem I have is that when someone calls to that company usually is connected to my number. It's very frustrating and I do not know where should I send the alert and information about this. Please help because I'm sick of giving the people information every 15 minutes that the had connected to wrong number.
Some days ago I have asked the people to which number they're calling. They're calling to XX5-55-55 but are connected to me. Please help.

Unlimited subscription and online number

I'm a great fan of voip and Skype but one thing that really bugs me is the fact that Skype neither provides an online Israeli number nor an unlimited plan for calling mobiles. There are simply no decent voip services available that even come close to Skype in terms of call rates and quality.
Are you going to do something about it anytime soon or should I keep on dreaming?

I don't want to just say "keep on dreaming", but that might be the answer to your question.
Skype does not charge different rates for Online Numbers in different countries. This means that Skype will only pay a provider of those services up to a certain amount for an Online Number used to receive calls from telephones. It is possible that it would cost too much in Israel for Skype to do this, or there may be national regulations that prevent Skype from offering Israeli Online Numbers (this is the case in Canada).
As for a subscription for unlimited calling to Israeli mobile phones, this is entirely related to the cost to call those numbers. I looked at the per-call rates, and it would probably be a very expensive monthly subscription if Skype offered an "unlimited" subscription for calling those phones. Skype doesn't offer "unlimited" subscriptions for mobiles, usually in those places where the costs to call a mobile are the same as calling a landline phone (very few places have this) or the difference is smaller than it appears to be in Israel right now (2.3 US cents/minute for calling Israeli landline phones when paying with Skype Credit, compared to 13.8 US cents/minute for calling Israeli mobile phones - not including the connection fee per call).

Do I need an online number?

Help I'm new to Skype, paid my subscription but can't seem to connect with anyone or anything. Do I HAVE to have a online number? I have tried to send messages but it won't work. Really getting peed off now,

I paid for my online number but this year its not working, the charge was last January and its still saying that its inactive. I have the copy of the invoice, I want to know what shoukd I do.

Any way to retreive expired online number?

I have an online number for a few years, however I did not aware that the number has expired few months ago. I am wondering if there is anyway to retreive that number? Or how long will a number back to the pool in the market?

Diverting an online number

Hi,
I work with an arts company that spends 5 months of the year on tour - at the moment we change phone numbers every few weeks, which makes it difficult/confusing for performers to get a hold of us in emergencies. I was just wondering if there is a way to set up an online number that we could easily divert to the office land line of whichever theatre we are in at the time, and what the costs involved would be with that sort of set up?

Vocabulary check: when you say "divert," I interpret that as "forward." Are we referring to the same thing?
If yes, an on-line number can be forwarded to a fixed or land line or mobile number. Calls answered by voice mail could also be transferred to SpinVox and sent to a mobile phone as a text message. Depending upon the quality of the voice mail recording, I find SpinVox does the job well enough so I can interpret the message.
What steps are required to forward calls may be easy to me, you may find those same steps onerous. So you can make an informed decision, here are links to more information:

Country of Residence for Online Number

Hi everyone. This is my first time on the Skype Support Network.
I had a question about the Skype numbers, I've tried googling this but with not much luck so apologies if this has been covered already.
Do you have to be a resident of the country in which the number is for? I know that there is a list of countries which require you to provide proof of residence, but what about the ones that don't? Just because you don't have to provide proof, is it still expected that you can't have a number for a country you don't reside in?

There are only a few countries that have a local residency requirement. For some numbers like those in Germany, a verification is done before the number is issued. For others, there may be no verification done, but not having residency could be used as the reason to cancel an Online Number at a later time. In that latter case, you would not have any recourse through Skype to keep your number, since non-residency would be cited as a breach of the agreement for the number.
I have Online Numbers in 4 countries (USA, Mexico, UK, Australia). There aren't any residency requirements for numbers from these countries. There is an additional set of terms for the Mexican numbers I had to agree to (mainly centered on not using the Mexican number for Caller ID), and the numbers from the other 3 countries were covered by Skype's standard legal statements related to Online Numbers.

Online Number isn't showing up on people's caller ...

Is there any way to fix this? My online number works because I recently paid for it and it expires May 20.
I know the number works because when I call myself, it rings but displays the "unkown number" problem.
Let me know if there's a way to solve this please.

In most countries, caller ID is supported by the local providers and the number should display as normal. How do I stop, cancel or block my Online Number?!?...

I checked many of the FAQ's at the Skype forum, but I can not find any answer to my question. I really hope somebody can help me out with the following:
I do have an online number for one of my clients, but I need to stop or transfer this to my new Skype account asap! (my old work is still receiving calls on this online number).
Can I transfer, block or stop this number asap? (even though I already purchased the number in advance for 1 year). I'm even willing to block the number and buy a new one when possible. (and to loose my already made one year payment for this existing number)

If you are sharing the same Apple ID registered with iMessage and FaceTime on each device, this is by design and intention for those with an iPhone and other iOS device and/or Mac that don't share the devices or their Apple ID with someone else.
You or your teenager need to use a different Apple ID registered with iMessage and FaceTime. You can continue sharing the same Apple ID for iTunes Store purchases on each device.
