A few Problems/Glitches with InDesign CC 2014 on Windows 7 and CC on Mac OS 10.6.8

We're experiencing some quirky glitches with InDesign CC on a Mac running OS 10.6.8, and with CC 2014 on Windows 7. I'll indicate which system on each problem...
Anchored objects disappear when anchored into boxes that are, in turn, anchored into text flow.
We publish catalogs and anchor all our images to the accompanying text so that as we remove/add products, all the text and images flow together. We have several instances in which we use a box to highlight certain products. In that box might be 1, 2, 3, or more products, each with anchored images. When we anchor those boxes within the main text flow, many of the images inside the box disappear. The anchors are still there but we can't see the images. This is happening on both systems.
"Replace" field disappears when selecting anything from the “wildcard/special char.” menu in "find and replace". Windows.
Shift click to unlock master page items bring background item to foreground.
In CS4 and 5.5, if you shift-clicked to release an item from the master page, the top-most item was released. Now it seems as though the item that is farthest behind gets released first, which makes it impossible to select any other items if that one is a full-page background. Both systems.
Double/triple clicking on a word to select it does nothing.
You could literally click for 5 minutes and it wont select anything. You have to click off the box, use selection tool then click back onto the box and then it will work. You can move the cursor a few letters away and it will select the appropriate line or paragraph but it did not work this way in earlier versions. Both systems.
Any suggestions, or is it something we're doing wrong?

The list of obvious errors and glitches and illogical behaviour in all Indesign versions is long. With newer versions, some items disappeared from the list, but new ones were added.
Best is to use the Adobe bug report form to let Adobe know in hope, they really read, care and someday do something about it.

I finally resolved the problem. I was trying to install CC 2014 on a 32 Bit system not being aware that CC 2014 is 64 bit only!

Jolauterbach the error indicates that your User account is not able to properly write to the temporary directory. Please make sure you have sufficient disk space and proper rights to modify the temporary directory.

InDesign CC 2014 Really Slow and Buggy?

Is anybody else having issues with InDesign CC 2014 running incredibly slow? I replaced my preferences file but it is still running poorly. The beach ball from hell keeps showing up every few seconds for a split second and the drop downs on the top toolbar won't stay on. Help!

Robyn, I went back to my previous version which is fine. Luckily I only worked on one job with this version. My feeling is that it is something with the cloud. It also seems to jump out of being the main screen every time I do any mouse movement. I have a feeling we aren;t the only two. Let me know if you get an answer and I will do so as well. When setting up outlook, we are trying to connect to a mailbox on exchange server 2007. We put in the EWS details in the server field since our autodiscover function is not functioning. But still it doesn't work. There are no errors, no popups. We turned on the logging and in the logs, it says a error of -3259. We are stuck and any help will be really appreciated.

I have a customer experiencing exactly the same issue. Their computer is running Windows 7 Pro with Office 2007 SP3. After seemingly exhausting all troubleshooting options, I backed up their data, formatted the hard drive and performed a clean install of
Windows and all their applications. It didn't solve the problem!
What's strange is the customer also has a laptop computer, running the same version of Outlook, and that doesn't experience any problems connecting to Office 365 on the same network.
My next step is to send the customer a new ADSL modem/router to try.
I have another customer on Office 365, also running Outlook 2007, and they also experience issues with emails sitting in the outbox while Outlook displays the status message “Outlook is trying to retrieve data from the Microsoft exchange server outlook.office365.com.”
In this case Outlook doesn't freeze/stop responding, like it does for the first customer I mentioned.

If you're using Lion, you can resize by dragging from any corner, in Leopard and lower it can only be resized from the bottom right hand corner.

Problem with Indesign CC 2014 (Creative Cloud)

I tryed to install InDesign CC 2014 (in a Mac) from Creative Cloud but the installation hangs in 17%... Checking the logs shows me that there is a problem with the file.
Here is a screenshot of the logs
If this is correct the selected text says that the file is corrupted...
Note: This is the unique app that give me problems... I have installed Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, Pro, etc. without any problem.
Any idea?

Errors an problems with InDesign CC 2014

I am having "Out of Memory" error while using InDesign CC 2014. This has never happened before. I am working on a catalog and is constantly flickering the text or images, or freezes the screen or just wont start the program.
I am in the final process of this catalog and I cannot keep crashing it will eventually damage my files. I anyone else having this problem??

Glitch with Indesign 2014

I am having an issue with Indesign 2014. The document is fine on Indesign - I have imported drawings as EPS files, some images and I have text. I then exported the document as a PDF and all the text in the EPS drawings is distorted. This has not happened with previous versions of Indesign just Indesign 2014.
It has happened on 3 separate documents.

How were these EPS files created? EPS is an archaic file format that, for the most part, should be avoided.
If you created these files go back to the original and save as AI or PDF.

Problems with InDesign CC 2014 tool palettes on an extended display

We have a Mac in our group set up with an extended display. With Indesign CC and before, we were able to move our InDesign tool palettes to the extended display, giving us a full view of our work on the main display. Now with the new upgrade to Indesign CC 2014, when using the tool palettes, the commands open on the main workspace display and the palettes will not collapse into each other unless you move them to the main display first. Can anyone offer help?

Color problems printing from InDesign CC 2014 (and CC)

When I print an ad I'm working on from InDesign, the color is off by a lot. If I save the doc as a pdf, it prints correctly from the pdf. If I print from the same InDesign doc on another machine, it prints fine. The problem is not only with this document. Using Bridge I have synched the color, restarted the computer, reinstalled InDesign CC 2014, trashed the Preferences—basically I've done everything listed on the InDesign printing troubleshooting page. Since the documents print correctly from another machine (all the settings are the same), I shouldn't have to use a work-around. I can't be making a pdf every time I need to print from InDesign—which is all the time. Any help appreciated.

Are you using the same printer and driver on both machines?

Can't associate INDD files with InDesign CC 2014 (Windows 7)

After updating to CC 2014, I noticed that my file associations for all my Creative Cloud applications were pointing to the wrong places. I assume this is because the new updates are actually different versions of the application and installed as completely separate apps. I was able to adjust my PSD and AI files to point to their new CC 2014 counterpart just fine, but when I tried setting the file association for INDD files, I noticed that the file type did not show up in the Windows 7 control panel file association list. So, instead I went directly to an INDD file on my computer, right-clicked, selected "Open with...", clicked "Browse..." and navigated to "InDesign.exe." When I selected it and pressed OK, it failed to change the file association. Repeating the process has not helped and now the only way to open an INDD file is to drag and drop it into the workspace of InDesign CC 2014. After restarting my computer, the INDD file type is now showing up in the Windows 7 control panel file association list, but it still is not allowing me to change the association.

No, I did not. I'm running the 2014 Release version of InDesign for Windows (see screenshot below). And as far as I'm aware, Adobe has not released another update to the 2014 release version. I used to have the older version of InDesign Creative Cloud installed as well (the version right before the 2014 release), but have since uninstalled it as didn't want or need two versions of InDesign. I may just try re-installing the 2014 release version and see if that fixes things.

It's a pity but it sometimes happens, for reasons including hardware and network changes, and changing the computers clock. There are no second chances, so I hope you were able to make your purchasing decision within the 5 days.

Problem with drop down list: on Windows it works, on Mac doesn't

I am reworking the MultiPageImporter2.5 script by Scott Zanelli; going to add some new features.
So far I added a drop down list so the user could choose on which pages to place a pdf/indd file: odd/even/both.
However I encountered a strange problem: on Windows it works as expected, but on Mac nothing happens when I click the popup. When I write a dialog, I almost always use automatic layout and never encountered such a problem before. But in this script the author uses fixed position for the controls so I followed his coding style:
dLog.pageSideMode = dLog.pan4.add('dropdownlist', [10,110,180,40], ["Odd and Even Pages", "Only Odd Pages", "Only Even Pages"]);
dLog.pageSideMode.selection = pageSideMode;
The drop down list is visible both on Windows and Mac, but on Mac it’s not clickable. What am I doing wrong?
Another question: in the script, the author created three popups. In the code, each popup has a different height (the last element of the “bounds” array) – 60, 88, 33. Does it make sense to make them different if on the screen they look exactly the same (I mean height).
Here’s my version of the script.
I think the easiest solution for me here is to rework the dialog part from fixed to automatic layout.

Hi johniko,
In my version of the script, the user will have to choose a file to be placed directly in the dialog box. The selected file can be saved into a preset. I'm reworking it for another person (not for myself) and that's what he wants.

P.S. By the way, you can simply merge all your pdf-files into a single document in Acrobat.
