A few questions about ACR / windows. Newbie here, please help :)
1. How do I "un-do" any edits that I have done in a.c.r.? I made some white balance changes and synched a group of photos but then realized it didnt work for all of them. For the life of me I cant find any way to get rid of the adjustment that is now attached to those images?
2. Also when I have made some adjustments that I like, I thought that they were suppose to show up on my images? I see the save button on the bottom left of acr but when I do that it actually saves a copy. I dont want it to save a copy, I just wanted my adjustments to be attached to the original (in the sidecar as Ive heard some of you say).
Any suggestions as to what I need to do. Thank you K
If you right click on your raw files in Bridge, one of the options will be to "Clear Camera Raw Settings". If you highlight more than one image, you can clear the settings on all of the images at once. Another option is to hold down the Alt key while you are in Camera Raw, and one of the buttons will change to "Reset".
When you have finished working on a raw image in Camera Raw just click on the Done button. That will return you to where you were previously, and the changes you have made should be visible.

Questions about MBP!!! please help!!!
I'm planning to get a macbook pro and I have a few questions before doing so.
1. It's always nice to have the option of different OS's on the computer, so if I install Vista and Linux on there would the hardware work fine? When I say hardware I mean in terms of both of the graphics cards and if the backlit keyboard would work fine. The people working in the Apple store gave me 2 completely different answers because they're not sure about installing Vista or Linux. This would be using Bootcamp... I don't intend on using Parallel at all.
2. One person from the Apple store said Linux is not support on Bootcamp, but I searched around online and saw people that were able to put Linux onto their macbooks. Can anyone enlighten me? Would everything work fine?
3. This next question is not related to Apple or macbooks. It's just a general question that I've had in mind. Do drivers or settings work properly/ok on different OS? Say if I got a mouse or keyboard that came with a program to change the settings, i.e. speed of mouse and other options, and I switched over to another OS that I dualboot, would the settings stay the same on the other OS?

I migrated my windows XP installation from my old Dell Inspiron into a Parallels virtual machine on my new MBP and it actually runs faster in Parallels 4 on the MBP than it did natively on the Dell because of the difference in system power between the two. Parallels 4 supports multiple processors, including the dual-core MBP processor, and greater memory allocations than the previous versions.
You will get better performance from Windows if you run it via Boot Camp, but if you want to use Linux, a virtual machine is the safest way to do it, as you would have to use the Linux boot loader to support a dual-boot OS X/Linux installation. Fortunately, Linux memory management is quite good compared to Windows, so you don't have the same kind of performance issues running Linux in a virtual machine as you do with Windows. -
Question about internet security...please help!
Hi everyone,
I have a question about the macbook's internet security.
A few days ago I became aware that my sibling was using a laptop for internet use at my house which he got from a person that I do not trust. He is very computer-savy and we're worried that he may have installed some form of spy ware on that laptop and in turn, may have tried (or succeeded) in accessing my Macbook through some form of spyware. My house is hooked up with a D-Link wireless router, and at the time, it had no internet/access-password.
So my question is, could this person have accessed my computer and personal information remotely by and through the laptop that my sibling got from him. I was under the impression that Mac's have very strong firewalls, but I have also heard that as long as he knew what he was doing, he could have accessed my computer. I don't have a wireless "network" set up at my house, I just simply use the router for internet. But my sibling told me that this guy was his "network administrator" which leads me to believe that he must have had remote access to the laptop.
Can anyone with knowledge on this problem please weigh in and let me know what I need to do to confirm that no one has accessed anything from my macbook.
Thanks!One option if you want to be extra safe is turning on FileVault (System Preferences -> Security), which will encrypt everything on your computer so that if somehow someone does gain access to your computer they will have a next to zero chance of being able to read anything they get from your computer. You have to have a lot of extra hard drive space on your computer to turn it on though.
Also, a "network" is just a connection between computers, regardless of the internet is involved or not. So when you connect your computer to the router which gives you the internet, you are putting your computer on a network. Now I believe that in order for this person whom you don't trust to gain remote access to your computer, they would have to have more information such as an IP address for your computer, through the router in order to get to it.
One thing I think is very important to consider that isn't on the technical side of things is something called "Social Engineering" which is a form of cracking, or hacking. You can do your own research, but in a nutshell Social Engineering is getting people that have access to something I'm trying to hack to give me information. For instance, this person you don't trust could be giving your brother the computer in the hopes that he will download something through your router to that laptop which could give him IP addresses and other information. And then when he gets that laptop back he could scan it for useful information and your brother wouldn't know he did anything wrong at all. The best way to avoid this is purely education and communication. Even if your brother doesn't share the same suspicions about this person, surely he will understand the need to be careful and smart when it comes to sharing personal information in the digital world. -

A Few Questions/Problems With My New iPod *PLEASE HELP*
Hello! I just received my first iPod (4th Gen, 4GB, Red Nano) two days ago (Christmas Eve) and have so far been fairly happy with it. However, I'm experiencing a few problems with it and am hoping that someone could help me.
Firstly, a few of the album covers on my iPod are just black squares. I've read other complaints about this on the forums, but haven't seen any solutions. What can I do to fix this?
Second, I can't figure out how to put my songs in order. On iTunes, it allows me to put songs in alphabetical order, but being that most of my songs are part of full albums, I want my songs to be in the order of when they play on the actual albums. When I try to drag my songs into their correct places, I'm not able to.
Also, is there any way to delete the games that my iPod came with? I think they might be taking up too much room for my liking...

First let me say thanks for the assistance. This is probably really easy to do, but I'm new to JSP and can't seem to figure it out.
I want to dynamically populate a table that shows whether a particular person has an appointment at a given date and time with a user. To do this, I want to query the MySQL database for the lastname of the person with the appointment that occurs with the user at the year, month, date, and time, in question.
THE CODE BELOW DOESN'T WORK (obviously) BUT SOMEWHAT ILLUSTRATES WHAT I'M TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH:

The real problem comes in the prepared statement portion. If I build the prepared statement with static values like below, EVERYTHING WORKS GREAT:

But when I try to use dynamic values, everything falls apart. It's not that the values aren't defined, I use the user_id, year <%= yy %>, month <%= months[mm] %>, etc. elsewhere on the page with no problems. It's just that I can't figure out how to use these dynamic values within the prepared statement.

You are little bit wrong in your
your preparedStatement.
Expression tag within scriptlet tag is invalid.
Whenever you are appending the statement with
expression tag, append it with "+" and remove
expression tag.

In the meantime, I've been trying to digest the docs on prepared statements and have changed the code to look like:

Obviously, I'm doing something wrong, but there has to be a way to use variables within the prepared statement.
ALSO, the values are being passed to this page via URL in the form:
samplepage?user_id=1&year=2002&month=October&date=31
Based upon this information, is there another way (outside of stored procedures in the db) to do what I want to do? I'm open to ideas. -
Question about photo interface...please help
hi. i'll explain what i want to do, and hopefully you can help. when exporting a photo album from iphoto to iweb, it creates thumbnails...and then when you double click on one of those thumnails, it brings up a much nicer looking interface with that photo nice and big, and all the others lined up above. Is there anyway i can skip the first set of thumbnails, and only display the second method of display. so when someone clicks on my photo page, they are presented with a nice big photo, and all the others lined up above. thanks...much appreciated, ben

I just got my first Macs recently, and my iMac has been working great. My iBook G3 500 is giving me some fits though, it won't let me install OS X and I can't figure out how to format and reinstall OS 9. I have the OS 9.2 disc, if that helps. The readme on the disk said you needed 9.1 to install it. Can I not just reinstall from the disk? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That sounds like a CD labeled "Update". That Update uses a well-behaved process in which the updates are positioned "live" by the running system, and then the Mac is re-booted to have the changes take effect.
It will not have a full set of software on it, just the changes to update 9.1 into 9.2 or similar. And it does not contain a System, so it is not bootable. -
Few questions about Lenovo G550
Hello, I plan to buy an inexpensive laptop, propably it will be a Lenovo G550L but I got few questions about this model. Here are my questions:
1. What 320GB hard disks are mounted inside G550L, Western Digital, Seagate or Hitachi (exact model if possible)?
2. How are the hinges of LCD screen in this model, cause they look pretty weak. Do they break easy, does anyone got any experience with this type of hinges which are "forward type" instead of normal?
2. I have noticed that there are two types of laptop chassis in this model one is matte black and another is grey glare. How to determine which model has which finish? Which finish got laptops with T4300, 3GB RAM, 320GB HDD, Intel IGP x4500, no card reader, no hdmi.

every device need to send signals to the remote not by just some wires like HDMI
lcd has a remote and a dvd player also has a remote and if those are from a unit company,they share a common signal with HDMI cable ,then you could control both of them with just one remote.
this can ease your work,as you dont need a lot of remote around your devices
but they should be from just a unit producer cause they uses different protocols
and of course they want to sell their various products and oblige you to buy other products from that producer to have the compability for having just one remote. -
A few questions about MacBooks and Parallels Desktop.
I have a few questions about MacBooks and Parallels Desktop.
1) I understand I need at least 1GB of RAM to run Parallels Desktop but what about the hard drive, is the stock 60GB drive big enough?
2) Related to question 1, even if it was big enough to allow me to install and run Windows would the 60GB drive be enough if I wanted to install a Linux distribution as well?
3) This has nothing to do with Parallels Desktop but thought I'd ask it here anyway, do Apple Stores carry just the stock MacBooks, or do they carry other configurations?

Keith1. Depend on how intensive you use that HD for saving data on both Mac OS and XP. For standard installation on both OS X and XP, the space of 60 Gb is enough.
2. Same answer as no 1. You can install all three on that HD space, but the extra spacce available will be less and less for your data. You can save your data on external or back up on cd/dvd and erase it from the HD to keep the free space.
Remember to leave at least 2 or 3 Gb for virtual memory usage.
3. Just call them, maybe they don't have it in store stock, but by appointment they might configure one for you before your pick-up date.

Recently I got an iPhone 4S, it is my first new phone in a long time, before this I had an old nokia, so I just have a few questions about it.
I havve read a alot of horror stories about the 4S battery life, mine seems ok, here is what I would like to know
1) How long should a healthy battery last?
2) how long should it take to charge to 100% from 1 or 2%?
On my daily commute I use listen it to music and sometimes user twiiter/facebook. I also get alerted of emails when they come in. So far it has just about lasted just about two days maybe before I had to recharge. Is this about right? As stated above I am coming from an old nokia, which is very dated now but the battery lasted almost a week before I had to charge, so having to charge my phone this often is new to me. My iPhone is really great and I just don't want any problems. I have turned off all extras that I don't need.
BTW are the iPhone 4S battery issues a software or hardware issue?

I ask this because I think that the computer becomes too "heavy" with all the applications it came with. So I was wondering if I can format the Hard Drive instead of recover it.
If I format the drive do I loose warranty? Is there any future problem related to genuine software?
It's possible to install Windows XP Pro (and not the actual windows xp media center) with the original Operative system's product key?

I do not understand what you mean with I can format the Hard Drive instead of recover it but you can do follow: install OS using delivered recovery media and after doing this remove all applications you do not need. After doing this maybe your notebook will not be heavy anymore.
