A Flash from the past - Corel Ventura 4.2 Released 1993

Though it was released in 1993, it contains many typography features on the paragraph level which InDesign users would love to have. Here are some pictures I took today while working on a customers old file (on parallels, windows 95), after which ventura promptly crashed . I'm not in the business long enough to have used this software, but it does somewhat remind us that while InDesign is GREAT, long document features still have room for improvement.

I've used Ventura continuously since v.1, when Xerox owned it. Now I'm using v.10 on one PC and v.7 on another.
I tried InDesign 1.0 years ago, but gave up when I found it lacked certain features Ventura had.
I'm using CS5 now only because of its ability [inability?!] to easily export to epub files. I still do the bulk of my work in Ventura.
I miss Ventura's powerful-yet-flexible tagging capabilities (for paragraphs, frames and pages) when I'm using CS5.
I'm not knocking InDesign, and certainly I know Ventura much better than CS5. But I find using InDesign takes more brute force than Ventura.
So I was quite disappointed when Corel discontinued Ventura years ago. (I'm running v.10 under Win2000 and v.7 under Win98!)

As a result, there are many events grouped into one library/event/folder/album (not sure of the proper terminology) I'd like to separate them into folders/albums/smart albums so that I can easily identify the contents. It would be good to take the tutorials and learn iPhoto - these are for the previous version but the concepts are the same and much of the command is the same - and it would be a worthwhile investment of time to take the iphoto tutorials - http://www.apple.com/findouthow/photos/ - they are very helpful and will save you a lot of time and frustration. - also the tutorials in iPhoto Help will be helpful - while iPhoto is easy and intuitive it does have a learning curve and it will save you time and pain if you spend a few minutes learning the basics
as to organization - events are generally time based and are the basic automatic organization - you can merge and split them to make them work better for you but they are not a good way to do detailed organization - best to leave them time based
albums are logical things that contain photos and are just pointers to the photo in the event so they take no extra space and all changes to a photo anywhere are reflected everywhere
Smart albums are the same except they are automatically filled based on the criteria you set when you create them
Folders are containers that you create and a folder can contain albums, smart albums or other folders so they are a big help in organization - like a vacation folder that holds folders for France, USA, China with each of thos folders holding albums of photos from the country

TS1702 Re: Notes App. I opened Notes, then opened a particular note. It opened briefly, and then suddenly several notes, from the past two weeks, just disappeared. Is this a known glitch, and is there any way to retrieve or restore these lost notes?

The other day i deleted my email accounts off of my ipod and only reloaded a few of them. today i looked at my notes to look at a project i had typed on my notes because i didnt have paper and pen around to write it and i didnt want to froget. I reloaded the rest of my emails in hope that everything would reappear but sadly only some of them from 2010 loaded. Recently i had update some of the files and they were like they were when i first created them there were alos ones that i had deleted long ago. You can download your iTune purchases by going to the iTunes Store > Purchased.
You have to be signed in with the Aple ID the purchased were made with and the computer needs to be authorized for that account.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

We're using Outlook 2003 with the connector.
But the connector doesn't show my appointments from the past since i installed Outlook 2003 with the connector.
My appointments are in the calendar because I can see them in the webclient.

Hi Richard,
I found some information which might be useful to you and your organisation.
Current workaround: Enable the offline capabilities of Oracle Connector for OutlookClose Outlook.
Close Outlook Click the Windows Start button, and select Settings.
Select Control Panel from the pop-up list, and double-click the Mail icon.
Click Show Profiles.
Select the appropriate profile and click Properties. Click E-mail Accounts.
Select the View or change existing e-mail accounts option.
Click Next.
Select Oracle Connector for Outlook and click Change. The Oracle Connector for Outlook Profile Settings dialog box opens.
Under the Startup tab check Enable offline use
Set synchronization range to start 1 year in the past Open OCFO On the Tools menu, click Send/Receive Settings. From the pop-up list, select Define Send/Receive Groups. Click Edit. Select the calendar folder Click Filter selected folder Set to start in the previous 2 years Synchronize Select the Calendar folder under the folder list Click Tools | Synchronize this Folder

If you mean recover old messages, the short answer is no.
You would have to do a full restore of a backup that contained the messages you wish to view again. Basically, if you deleted the messages, they are gone.

I got infected with Vorstran (or Vorstan?) many months ago. I'd love to reload Firefox now that I have everything straightened out on my computer, but in the past when I had to reload Firefox, all my old book marks, came back. (They must be saved to load for me the next time I heed to reload??) Not wanting to get Vorstran back on a reload, I have hesitated to try to reload as when it comes in, it infects all browsers, overwrites my backups and generally locks itself in the system Can I get a totally clean version of Firefox to load to completely start over?? I don't want to bring anything forward from the past at all. No book marks, favorites, folders, nothing. Can that be done somehow so I can finally again use my favorite browser? My old email that is now closed, was "[email protected]". I had to change it to the current one "[email protected]" How would I go about getting a totally clean version of firefox? Thanks

if you are absolutely, 100%, completely certain that you want to start from scratch (after having made sure that your system is clean of the malware);
To completely remove your old profile, you must manually delete the Firefox folder;
# Click the Windows Start button, and select Run….
# Type in %APPDATA% in the Run prompt then click OK.
# Open the Mozilla folder.
# Delete the Firefox folder.
Next, install a clean copy of Firefox from ([https://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/new/ link]).

Problems downloading Flash from the CS3 CD.

So I just recently got CS3 Design Premium for a job I'm working on.
I downloaded the trial for Flash CS3 about a year ago separately from the design premium and left it unregistered.
So when downloading the Design Premium it did not reinstall Flash CS3.
When I registered all of the products Flash CS3 remained unregistered.
I uninstalled Flash and tried to install it from the Design premium CD.
Whenever I attempt to download Flash from the CD however, it ejects the disk after a minute or 2 and asks me to insert a disk for Illustrator, however there is only one CD, and if I put the CD back in it ejects.
Help, what do I do?
Do I deactivate the programs and install it all over again, and if so how do I deactivate the applications?

I have no idea what that means but try closing the App Store, and reboot your iPad. See if that helps.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the App Store icon. Tap the home button.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

My GameCenter scores update briefly and then revert to scores from the past. This is happening on an iPad 2, an iPad Retina and on an iPod touch 5. I'm running iOS 6.1.3 on all three.

for the past week or so my Gamecenter leaderboard scores for several games get posted briefly for about 15-20 minutes, and then revert to older scores. I've tried signing out and back in to GameCenter, but no chance. I 've also rebooted, but that doesn't help. I usually play on an iPad 2, but also use an Pad 3, or an iPod touch 5.
The GameCenter is just a useless app if it can't display proper scores. and I 'm way too old to try to restart these games from scratch.

I've received a lot of complains from my users recently. Scores are reverted to some old value with no reason. Apple technical support incident didn't work, they say it's not a code level question. Should be something wrong with gamecenter servers data sync. I would appreciate any advise, not sure how to move forward with the issue.
