Well, now you know why you should have backed your data up. There are two kinds of computer users: those who have accidentally deleted important data in the past, and those who will do so in the future. You've just switched groups. If your data isn't backed up, it will all be lost sooner or later to boneheaded mistakes or hard drive failure. The only question is when. Good backups are cheap insurance against that day.
Now that those files have been deleted, you'll have to use data recovery software to try to salvage them, assuming the space they occupied on your hard drive hasn't yet been overwritten (a pretty good bet if they were still visible yesterday and you STOP using your computer now, to avoid overwriting them before you recover them). To do so you'll need an external hard drive and one of the following recovery utilities:

Both are offered in demo versions that will show you what the full version could recover before you have to pay for anything.

I'm running Mac mini Server 10.6 with 15 various Apple Mac desktops 10.4 / 10.6. The problem i'm having is that i'm unable to search for files on the server from any of the desktops. I have fixed permissions and rebooted. I can perfomr a search though command - F and spotlight from the server.

Settings → scroll down to Safari → in Safari settings, I selected both Clear History and Clear Cookies and Data.
IF that does not work -
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Finally - if problem still present -
Go to Settings>General>Reset
Reset the network settings - you will need to add the password of your home WiFi in your phone once more
The device should turn itself off & back on then go into Settings>Wifi and join your network

Since yesterday morning about 11:00 I have been having TERRIBLE email problems on this iPad 3G. Email comes in (I hear the sound) but nothing displays -- no folders, no content, no nothing in e-mail. The blank email screen shows up and then disappears after about 10 seconds, taking me back to the Home Screen.
Right now, the only way I can see email on this device is to log onto AOL via the AOL app.

How can I search for files in the "Save As" dialogue when saving attachment

I receive a lot of graphics via email that are updates to existing graphics for a website. When I click on "Save Attachment As..." on the pop-up menu within Mail, a finder-like window appears that has a little search oval on it. I would like to be able to use this to find an existing file on my hard drive that I can select and replace with the file that I'm attempting to save. The only thing that I'm able to bring back is folders. Even when I click on "filename" and use the + sign and change to "name". No files appear in the search. When I get to the folder that I want, I still have to scroll forever to find the file name that I'm looking for. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong or possible offer a better solution to my problem? Thanks in advance for any advice.

You can enable the Finder to include System files in its search
In a Finder finder window select Kind then Other… locate System files in the list and click the checkbox.

In the iTunes Store, when you search for something, on the left side of screen there is a pane under "iTunes Essentials" called "Playlists"

Sometimes you will get a list of five or so matching playlists and a "MORE" option. When you clicked on this in the past it would show a list of other searched matches. But now it simply dumps you right back to the current page. Has this search capability been removed for some reason? It was working just a couple weeks ago and mysteriously stopped. The firefox profile manager doesn't come up when I search for it in the start menu or run.

I don't know if I messed it up which I probably did and I don't know what happened. I use two profiles. The default for the aurora/nightly and the one I made for the stable version. The default profile has the compatibility reporter and I wanted to install a program which wouldn't let me, so I changed the profile for the stable release to the default one. Somehow, ever since I can't access the manager in the start menu. So if I want to use the nightly and stable version at the same time, I can't anymore. When I log onto the administrator account, the manager comes up in the start menu and not in mine. Since i guess the manger is missing on my account now, I can't change the shortcuts to put it on a different profile.

Remember, if you ever want to find an app quickly, you can slide all the way to the left (iOS 6 and lower) or pull down (iOS 7 and later) to get to an app.
If you know for certain that you have deleated the app, please try restarting your phone. There are many ways to do this, but the safest way would be to hold down the power button and then slide to power down.
Once powered down, restart and try to find the icon on your screen. If you still can't find it, go into the App Store and then find the app you were trying to access. It should have an iCloud download symbol since you've purchased it before, rather than saying "install."

Firefox crashes suddenly when I search for anything through the Google search bar and on certain websites.

I have followed all the steps, including updating everything, opening Firefox in safe mode, resetting Firefox.
The crash occurred the first time every time I tried to access coyotes.nhl.com and now it has started to do it every time I search for something in the Google search bar. It loads the search results but then it just crashes a couple of seconds later.

Apple most likely has the same poor taste that Microsoft does when it come to defaults. Microsoft likes to hide things like settings, preset, folders etc from normal users think the dumb or something else. If Apple also hide things you will have to make some system setting changes that will allow Finder to do it job and find it for you.

Make sure your phone is connected to the computer and iTunes is open
1. Visit Instagram.com from your computer web browser
2. Click "Download in the app store"
3. It will download and show up in your iTunes
4. Highlight and sync the app to your iPhone (note: it will not show up on your phone, even after it says syncing is complete).
5. In iTunes, select the Instagram icon and click "Remove" or "Uninstall"
6. Click Accept and Uninstall when it asks you to confirm as it will remove instagram and its data from your iPhone
7. Disconnect the phone from the computer
8. Manually reboot the phone after exiting all apps
9. Upon re-start, you will be able to access the app in the App Store, and install it
