A Forum Regular's Experience with New iPad

My new iPad was delivered today.  It was hard working a regular day, when it was sitting in the box on the kitchen counter waiting for me.  So, what are my impressions?  Stunning.  It was a breeze to set it up via iCloud.  You tell it what language you want, what your iCloud ID is, your wifi encryption code and then sit back while everything migrated over seamlessly.  All I had to do was enter a few passwords on a few apps, and then everything magically appeared in place, where they should be.  All my pictures, albums, music, contacts, were put in place.  It took about 45 minutes for everything to download.
The screen resolution is nothing short of spectacular.  Reading a magazine is amazing and my pictures, which were all taken with a DSLR are stunning.
I'm not experiencing any unusual warmth, even after 5 non-stop hours of use.
I am VERY happy with how smoothly the transition went and how terrific the new iPad is.

rbry .... she told me to go for it last weekend. Now she is actually bugging me to buy the new iPad. I think that she wants my old one now! So my plan is to head out this weekend and pick one up. There is a Best buy store very close to where I live and they seem to be in plentiful supply everywhere. We checked them out last weekend at the Best Buy store and they looked spectacular to me.
I'm not a true iCloud believer just yet and I still use iTunes primarily - but I do have backups in iCloud and iTunes as well. Most of my music is ripped from CD's and I am not going to pay for iTunes Match. IMO - and I am an old man now who is set in his ways - there is now way that I need to pay Apple to store music for me when I can do it myself. I can't ever imagine being in a postiton where I think to myself - "oh my god if I cant hear "Truckin" by the Grateful Dead right now I am just going to die and I forgot to sync it to my iPad". The instant musical gratification just isn't a big need for me. I don't Photo Stream either so the cloud has no great appeal other than for using Pages - at least right now.
But enough of that .... I may not even make it until Saturday ......

Cannot send email with new iPad air.  Works fine with old iPad and iPhone.  I have deleted account and reinstalled.

Thanks.  I got the problem fixed.  Spent time with the Apple folks and was kicked up to a senior advisor.  It seems the problem was with my internet provider - Tmie Warner.  Remember I could use the old ipad and the iphone to send mail.  I checked all the specifics between the three units.  It seems that TW is changing over from the RR.com  to TWC.com.  Since the new ipad air was just set up, it fell under the new TWC mail specifics.

  • Wifi problems with new ipad

I'm trying to learn how to correct wifi problems with new iPad.  It is the wifi only, 64GB model.  I want to be able to use it at work, where we have a great wifi network.  I can usually connect to our network with no problem, but after an hour or so my iPad loses the network.  When I try to reconnect, I see that the network is showing full strength reception, but I get the error message from the iPad that I am "Unable to join" the network.  My iPhone connects to the same network seamlessly, as do all of the other iPhones of my co-workers and the older generation iPads that some of our staff has.
At other locations, I typically have no problems (home, apple store, etc.) but I have had the same situation pop up at a coffee shop where I could see that there was a wifi network available, but I could not join it even though it was the shop's free wifi.
I have tried turning the iPad off, turning off wifi and turning it back on again, and forgetting the wifi network in question.  I can't think of any other methods that are available to an end user to correct the problem.
I have already gone to the Apple store to swap out the unit, and the newer one is having the same symptoms.
Can anyone offer any advice here?  This is quite frustrating.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

I have bought new ipad 3 on 18 jan 2013 ...I purchased it in INDIA from an authorised TATA store called "CHROMA"....It's just 2 days old.....I want to exchange it with new ipad 4th generation.....is it possible..

You would have to contact the retailer to see what their return
    policy is.

  • I have an ipad2 can i change it with new ipad without charge?, I have an ipad2 can i change it with new ipad without charge?

Hi,i have an ipad 2 can i change it with new ipad without pey charge ?

No. Apple does not do trade-ins. Sell the iPad 2 and use the money
toward an iPad 4. If you are still within the return window of the retailer
where you purchased the iPad 2, return it and buy an iPad 4.

Apple Bluetooth keyboard won't pair with new iPad mini

I have same results. I have an ipad mini and it will not pair with my apple keyboard. I bought a mini keyboard with bluetooth 3.0 and it will not pair either.  Is my ipad defective?  Or do i need a keyboard with bluetooth 4.0?  Also - the mini keypad will pair with my ipad2 and my iphone 4.  Only difference I can find is the ipad mini has bluetooth 4.0.  Seems it should be downward compatible but maybe not.. I am not a blutooth expert!

Outlook is just a mail program
    Not a mail provider
If you just Want the mails you
    1. Connect your iOS device to your computer using the USB cable
2 start up iTunes on the computer
3 click on the iOS device IN devices left side of iTunes
4 click on the Info tab and set it to sync mails with outlook
If you Want to be able to send mails too you need to setup the iOS device to have an Account which is the same As
The one you have outlook to use

  • Is the Facetime experience with an iPad 3 better with the Touch 5th gen over a 4th gen?

I want to buy an ipod touch to use Facetime with my wife as she has the iPad 3.
I intend to use the iPod touch for the following reasons:
    60% - Facetime to an iPad 3 (iOS6)
    25% - Rear camera for photos/video
    10% - Music/Apps
    5% - Other
I've briefly introduced myself to Facetime at an apple store when it was first introduced but never physically seen it in use outside an apple store.
I'm trying to justify why I should buy a 5th gen 32GB touch over a 4th gen 8GB. I'm GUESSING the REFURB 5th gens, when its released from the apple store, will go for $249CAN instead of $299CAN; a 92%/$120 price difference over the 4th gen refurb ($129CAN).
    Just so you're aware, I could easily justify buying a 5th gen 32GB refurb $249CAN over a 4th gen 32GB refurb $179CAN.
Besides the obvious (hard drive space, camera resolutions, future iOS upgrades, etc.) is the Facetime experience with an iPad 3 better with the Touch 5th gen over a 4th gen?
    Much appreciated in advance.

    any advice please??
Upgrading to Snow Leopard = OS X 10.6.x
It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.
    Do this first...
Check that your Mac meets the System Requirements for Snow Leopard...
    Snow Leopard Tech Specs
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
If so... Purchase a Snow Leopard Install Disc...
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    Other countries...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
After the Successful Install, run Software Update to get the latest updates for Snow Leopard and iTunes.
You should now be able to Sync.
Be sure to make a Backup of your Current System Before Upgrading...

  • Managing Photos with new iPad Air???

    Hi,
I was looking to get some insight from experienced users on the best way manage photos with the new iPad Air. Oviously, im not too familiar with the subject as, i do not use any iPad and i am trying to set one up for someone else who recently purchased one.
So here is what i need to be able to do:
There are a bunch of pictures i need to upload into the iPad (more or less 15gig for the first batch).
Id like to be able to manage these pictures as in be able to delete, organize folders, etc.
Preferably also be able to export these photos, later on, as a backup in their respective folders as previously organized in the ipad.
Mainly, the ipad will be the main storage unit of the albums, as this person enjoys viewing them on daily basis. So i believe this rule out using itunes photos syncing. After searching for a while i believe there are multiple third party app which would be better for importing, organizing and exporting photos. Im just not quite sure which as i have not experience it yet.
*This has become quite a pain since im trying to find a way to minimize the usage of a PC or MAC, so the person would be able to manage their photos with the ipad and i believe it would be simple to transfer pictures taken from their iPhone.
Any insight would be much appreciated.
    Thank you.

Have a look at Photo Manager Pro.

  • Old av/hdmi adaptor with new ipad

    Hi,
This is probably in the forums somewhere but I can't find it.  So I have an old hdmi adaptor from my ipad2 and now I want to use it with my "new" ipad(3).  I'm getting an "Accessory not compatible" message.  Is this right?  Can I not use the old adaptor with the new ipad?  I'm hoping its just some setting, or there's a workaround for it.
    Thanks!

It's works with the new iPad. It said "accessory not supported". I clicked OK and now it works.

  • Apps hung up with new iPad

I just got a new iPad and restored from iCloud. Most things went well but all of the adds say they are loading. When I go to the app store it says that all my apps are up to date. Suggestions? I can't delete the apps because they thing they are still loading.

One example is Defense: Power of Magic. It is free today (and actually looks like a good game) so it would be an easy download if you want to see if you experience problems. It is listed as an iPad game and does not say that it is incompatible with the new iPad. I don't expect a game that states that it is formiphone only to work on my iPad ;)
My review is the only one for this version. I actually updated it to be specific about the problem (the game only shows up in a small rectangle in the corner and has obstructions ... Buttons, etc). Apparently it takes time for new or updated reviews to show up. Anyway, they JUST updated the game... You would think they would have made sure it was compatible with the current iPad.
Another example is Ragnar Rock Thor's Revenge. It doesn't work at all on the new iPad, yet it is compatible with iPad 2 and doesn't state any compatibility issues in the description.
I've run into some that I haven't purchased because of stated compatibility issues.

  • Disappointed with new iPad 3 ;(

Scrolling through folders (pictures) is choppy and stalls for a few seconds. I tried everything that was suggested by tech support. Even without apps running it still is choppy. For a Quad core, this shouldn't happen. I'm sure it's a future update.
iPad runs HOT! This worries me due to a possible hardware issue in the future.
I don't see a huge difference between iPad 2 and iPad 3. Sure it offers a few upgrades, but comparing the two, I still prefer my old iPad 2. For the price, it should be much more.
I hope everyone else has better luck.
    G.

Businesses have a variant of the phrase "being in the leading edge" as related to implementing new technology: Being on the bleeding edge
Many people pre-ordered to be the first ones with the new iPad without considering that they would be in the same situation as you ... disappointed.
I actually will probably log in to this forum every day if only to see what effects the latest "software upgrade" is doing to OSX.  I do not like life on the "bleeding edge".

  • How do I get hi-res photos from iPhoto to sync with new iPad

I hooked my new iPad up, and synced my iPhoto library to it, but once I went to view the photos on the iPad, it looks like they have all been turned into super low-resolution grainy versions.
I was wondering if anyone had any luck getting full-size photos to sync - I have lots of space and a retina display so I want full versions of my photos.
FWIW, I also sync an iphone with the same Mac; and I know for the iPhone that iTunes will reduce photo resolution before syncing to save space. I am guessing maybe my sync with the new iPad just re-used those lo-res versions - so I am hoping there must be some way to force iTunes to NOT use those versions of the photos.

You want to sync the music to the iPad using iTunes on your computer.
