A gap between screen and right soft key with softw...

I have many problems.
First one is : When I press open button to open  pool game on my Asha 201 then I have
to press Open Button many times to open games.I have tried factory
restore settings but I don't think factory restore setting caused this
problem. Your officer "  'Prashun Dey'
E-mail Specialist - Nokia Care Bangladesh  " told me to update this phone using nokia suite. So far i know this nokia asha 210 doesn't support nokia suite. Why did he advise me this ???? I have bought this phone only five days ago and now I need a soft update. Not even a week passed and I need for a update of the software. Is it believable ?
Another problem is :
I have purchased my phone on 17 September.but
I am being irritated by a gap between right soft key and Screen of my
phone. This gap is larger than normal asha 210 model's phone. This gap
making my left soft key button hard and it irritates me a lot when I
type. How can I fix it ? Can I change or replace it from Nokia care ?
I want it to be replaced.I have never faced such product setting problem on samsung. I must say samsung's 5000 taka's phone is thousand time better than this phone Asha 210. I have only one day in my hand to repare it otherwise I will go to head office of nokia with this complain. You should know that we have earned money by working hard in job field and don;t want to waste 6000 taka buying a defected phone.I don't understand why nokia packages defected and physically immature phone to be sold in store. If we can't solve this problem then i gotta take steps.
I have uploaded an image which illustrating my actual problem with a drawn model of NOKIA ASHA 210. Hope that you will be kind enough providing me helps replacing or fixing this problem so that I never stop using NOKIA's phones.
Not even a week passed and facing too many problems with one default problem of nokia which done by nokia while attaching parts of the device before packing the device to be sold.
I have mailed my problem 2 days ago but nokia did not reply me yet!!! They are really nonsense !!!

I have used my 5c for one week and I can notice a gap too. I is really small, but when I look close to it I see small dust in there. I baby my phone a lot and I am sure it was not there 7 days ago when I got it. I am also afraid this to get larger... It may be a dilatation because of the weather or something, because I did not drop my phone.
Can anybody help us?

  • Discerning between left and right ctrl key(events)

I hope this is possible. If yes just point me in the right direction if too complex to explain in a couple a lines.
    Thanks in advance

I could be wrong but I don't think you can. In Java,
both left and right ctrl keys produce the same key
code (17). It used to be that these two keys
were 'hardwired' to the same function on the keyboard
but I'm not sure if this has changed..I don't think so.
    No, I don't think it's possible.... besides, from a
user interface point of view, why would you want to do
that? Do you know any piece of software that does it?jaffab is right, Client Access for AS/400 makes a distinction between the left and right control keys, as do a number of games.
Unfortunately, the java AWT doesn't :-(
I would tentatively suggest that it would be possible, using JNI, but I imagine it wouldn't be simple to get a key listener set up in C/C++ that would trigger a java event - being the only way I can think of to differentiate between left and right control keys.
Given its infeasibility, I'd recommend having the control key do absolutely nothing - far easier to recover from, especially since reset and enter are such diametrically opposed functions!
Heh, you could always pop up a message box if they press and release control without pressing another key between, saying what to press for reset or accept, respectively :-)
    -Troy
Random trivia - I think the default set up in Client Access is like that because on the original keyboards used with the green screens, the keys in those corners were reset and enter! Users who had gotten used to typing without looking at the keyboard wanted the functions in the same place, rather than on the keys with the same name.
IBM never has been happy doing things the same way as everyone else - database 'tables' are called 'files', 'schemas' are 'libraries'... trying to teach Java to one of the ILE/RPG programmers here, and we still have trouble with the english language differences, trying to explain what the programming language is doing!
Well, that certainly wasn't the few-line post it was supposed to be...

  • Gap between screen and bezel should i take it back to apple?

Theres a noticable between the screen and the metal bezel, its currently working fine but i dont want the screen to die or the inside to collect up dust over the years. I only recently purchased the red nano and want this to last for a long while. Is it worth it to bring back to the apple store to get this replaced or are all nanos like this with a gap between the screen and bezel (just towards the bottom of the screen only) thank

You are very welcome, and good luck getting this resolved.  Things like damage and scratches have been brought up on here by users in the past with devices and Apple has been pretty good about dealing with the issues.

  • Scrolling using the Left and Right Soft Key

    Hi guys,
    Good day!
I need your help with regards to using scroll wherein my control is the right or
    left soft key
I want to implement those like in calendar wherein year can navigate using right or left soft key like this
    Display:
    *< 2008 >*
if i pressed left would display - 2007
if i pressed right would display- 2009
    Please help! Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Psyeu

Err.. keyCodes for the softkeys are non-standard. In fact, all devices don't have softkeys ... one example is Motorola E6.
    From the documentation for Canvas:
MIDP defines the following key codes: KEY_NUM0, KEY_NUM1, KEY_NUM2, KEY_NUM3, KEY_NUM4, KEY_NUM5, KEY_NUM6, KEY_NUM7, KEY_NUM8, KEY_NUM9, KEY_STAR, and KEY_POUND. (These key codes correspond to keys on a ITU-T standard telephone keypad.) Other keys may be present on the keyboard, and they will generally have key codes distinct from those list above. In order to guarantee portability, applications should use only the standard key codes.

  • Gap between screen and case

Hi, I bought my ipod touch just over 3 months ago. When I first got it I noticed that the top of the metal case was not compeltely flush with the black metal edge, but I did not think much of it. Over the past few months however it has gradually got bigger. It's not causing a problem, but for something that cost this much I'd expect it to be built a little better. It has got to the size where i had to stick the corner of a business card down it to scrape out the dust and yuck that had built up there. I'm worried that this is going to keep getting bigger.
My ipod is still in a good condition and I havent mistreated it, so do you think there is any chance Apple would do anything about this? Would they replace it? The nearest Apple store to me is still quite a while away, so I'd like some opinions before i make the long journey there
    thanks

There should not be any gap - both the screen side and the bottom side should shut flush against each other.
Does your Air wobble-or not lie flat - when on a level surface? If it does, then the bottom part is probably warped, causing the gap to happen. It seems that quite a few have reported "wobbly" units.
In any case, I would bring it back to the where you purchased it and have them take a look, and if possible, have them replace the unit.
No sense living with an issue like this, when it can just as easily be replaced.

Make an appointment at the genius bar of your local Apple Store. The phone has a 1 year warranty. If it's no longer under warranty, a replacement is $269.

  • Globally map Ctrl   B and ctrl   F to left and right arrow keys, respectively

Does anyone know how I would *globally* map Ctrl + B and ctrl + F to left and right arrow keys, respectively? This keystroke works for some applications, but not all. I'd like it to always work.

So, it is now June and still no fix.  This is incredibly annoying when you are giving a professional presentation in front of an audience and the speaker wants to go back a slide.  It's enough to change presentation software.
In truth, the Presentation Module in LR5 is vastly inferior to other dedicated software.  For instance, you can't add a text slide as a divider between "chapters," as far as I can figure out, you can't merge slideshows or go from one to another without exposing your entire screen, the order of slides is over-ridden by some predetermined metadata rather than being able to choose two catalogs and put them into one slideshow, deciding yourself which catalog should play first.
Are any of these changes in the works?
Any eta on the right/left arrow fix?
This could be SO great.  I hope it is moving in that direction.

  • E51: Go To menu on right soft key

    Hi,
I was previously using 6610i, in which I had an option of setting up a "Go To" menu on my right soft key. In that menu, I could select the various options like Inbox, Alarm Clock, Games, Calendar etc. However, in my E51 I can only assign one function to the right soft key. Is thee any way to change this behaviour? Can I have a Go To menu assigned to the right key in E51?
    Thanks

One more thing psychomania - I did not want to start a new post for this, so including it here
Is there any birthday alarm program for S60 similar to the S40 ones? In S60, I am forced to set birthdays as "Anniversaries", and even then if I forget to view them, they 'disappear'.. in S40 phones, they persisted on the screen until I clicked on OK. In other ways too, I find birthday reminder implementation of S40 much better. Is there any similarly capable S60 program?

  • Wireless Keyboard's left and right shift keys don't like some keys...

    Hello everyone!
I recently bought a second hand 2009 Apple Wireless Keyboard to use with my iPad 32GB Wi-Fi.
When pressed by themselves, the keys all individually work - I've tested them all using my MacBook's Keyboard and Character Viewer. The problem is when I use either shift keys with the following keys:
    123456789
    qwertyuio
Now, the odd thing is, the left shift key won't wok with either of those lines but the right shift key will work with the letters but not the numbers.
Using sticky keys on my MacBook, I can get every single one of the numbers to give out their character (!@£ etc.) with the left and right shift keys. I've not got Mouse Keys turned on either (and I don't think there's an option to enable it on the iPad)
Also, the Shift keys work perfectly fine with all of the other keys on the keyboard so they aren't worn out.
Any ideas what could be making my keyboard this way..? Or should I send it back (if I can...)?
    Thank you for your time!

ok so i've made a bit of progress on my own...
i've found the on-screen keyboard viewer (silly me, i was looking under "keyboard" in system preferences...) and this flashes with each key i press except the problematic left and right cursor keys.
moreover, if i click the left and right cursor keys on the on-screen keyboard, they behave as they should, moving my cursor left and right.
this is starting to look like a hardware fault but i'd love to be able to test outside of the OSX GUI to be really sure. is there any way i can do that. not sure i want to get the screwdriver out just yet...

  • Move to previous or next magnified photo     Press Left Arrow and Right Arrow keys does not work

Move to previous or next magnified photo
Press Left Arrow and Right Arrow keys
This command no longer works in iPhoto. The photo just bounces for a moment, then all the photos begin scrolling. I used to be able to just hit the key to scroll one at a time.

What version of iPhoto and system are you running?  What mode are you in, edit, full view, full screen, ???

  • Left and right arrow keys are not working properly now

I searched the forum and didn't see this posted. My left and right arrow keys are not working properly now.
For example, when typing, left arrow does not produce the desired action (move cursor one spot to the left), and right arrow does not produce the desired action (move cursor one spot to the right). Also, control + left no longer activates spaces, and control + right no longer activates spaces.
Interestingly, in investigating the problem, I noticed that my shortcut keys for activating spaces and for activating expose had been changed (software update?). Before, I had set F5 (without pressing fn) for expose and had set F6 (without pressing fn) for spaces. Now, I noticed spaces was set back to the default of F8 (requiring fn).
The issue persists after shut down, and even when logged on to other users, e.g. Guest.
All other keys seem to be working fine, including the up and down arrows.
I don't think it's a cleaning issue because fn + left + right produces the "[" character on the screen.
    Any ideas?

I'm having the same type of issue on my MacBook except not with arrow keys. The volume keys do different things when I click on them. For example, the mute key brings up the dashboard and the volume up key makes all the open screens smaller (don't know what this feature is called). I did a software update then restarted the computer when this starting happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

  • Right Soft Key error in N70 Bluetooth menu?

I have recently had my N70 upgraded to operating system version 5.0609.2.0.1 (I'm on UK T-Mobile)
I notice that when I go to the Bluetooth menu, then go to the paired device menu, and connect to a previously paired device, the exit option (right soft key) does not operate when it returns to Exit as an option (rather than cancel)
The key works in all other cases, apart from this part of the Bluetooth menu - I have to leave the menu by hitting the End key.
Is this specific to my phone, or is it genereric to that software version?
Anyone else got the same (minor) problem?

Sounds odd, probably a fault with the firmware though - maybe worth a factory reset? or getting back in touch with the centre that updated the firmware and asking them to reflash it?

  • Left- and right arrow key out of order

    Hi,
I'm afraid to need your help again. My left and right arrow keys doesn't work as they're supposed to. While can neither navigate through my desktop icons nor the buttons in any dialog nor the text I'm just writing. The cursor stops blinking as soon as I press one of these keys so the system recognizes the key press but the cursor doesn't move. Showkey returns the keycodes 105 left and 106 for the right arrow key.
While logging in with LXDM im able to navigate back and foth while entering my password as well as the keys work properly in tty. It seems to be only LXDE, where the keys are not working.
Furthermore my function keys like mute, volume up and down and so on aren't working too. I don't know if both errors are relatet to another.
Maybe anyone has an idea what I might do to fix this?

I think I use lxdm to log in. As soon as I'm logged in, I'm using lxde. Ist this what you have to know?
no, you have to know it.
i meant: when you login with lxdm, do you have a choice between lxde-session and openbox-session (or sth similar) because there's a difference how openbox gets started and which config files are parsed.
It's an lxde-session. And LXDE uses openbox-lxde as displaymanager.

The part of the rc.xml I posted beforehand is the only one in that file that is tagged with <keyboard> and there is no binding for the left or right arrow key. There are some in combination with the control or shift key but that shouldn't do anything regarding my problem.

    Absolutely.
Steff435 wrote:What do you mean with "the text I'm just typing"? You can't move the text cursor in the textbox in your browser using the keys?
    Yes, exactly.
Steff432 wrote:I don't use lxdm, but I guess that doesn't use the default Gtk text entry widget, while most Gtk-based browsers as far as I know do, so it might be related to Gtk in some way. Or do you use a Qt browser? Have you tried the keys in non-Gtk software?
I use firefox which is, as far as I know, Gtk-based. But I installed QupZilla and gabe it a try. Unfortunatelly the same error shows up there.
I don't know if I'm right but lxde should be gtk-based itself and running a non-Gtk software in gtk-based lxde would show up the same gtk-errors to, wouldn't it? So eventually I'd have to try a non-Gtk software in a non-Gtk desktop environment in order to check whether the error doesn't show up under non-gtk software?

  • Left and right Arrow keys Not working now

It is not hardware because fn + left + right produces the "[" character on the screen.
    Any ideas?

You might want to post in the MacBook forums as this seems to be a hardware issue and those gurus hang out there. http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=248

  • Using left and right arrow keys as accesskeys

I am trying to remediate an online course and need to apply left arrow key to next button (advance to next page) and right arrow key to back button (return to previous page). Does anyone have javascript code that would allow this?

This is already built into major browsers.  This assumes the browser history folder contains more than one page. If the browser's history folder is empty, nothing will happen.
    For Windows users:
Alt+Left arrow = back one page.
Alt+Right arrow = forward one page.
