A 'ghost' photo in my camera roll

Good afternoon, today I was connecting my iPhone 6 (iOS 8.2) to my PC (Windows 8.1) to import pictures from the camera roll. When I checked the DCIM folder on the PC there was a sub-folder containing a photo that I took 1 year ago. In that period I had an iPhone 5S with the same iCloud account and I remember that this picture remained blocked in the gallery's preview in the Camera app, even if I had deleted previously. For this reason, I reset all contents of the iPhone 5S and it seemed to work. Actually the pic is still there in DCIM folder, even if I have never seen it in the gallery since its deletion. I also noticed that in my icloud.com settings I have in 'my devices' that are running iOS 8 also the iPhone 5S! So strange, because I deleted the backup and the association in itunes with that device!
I would try to reset also the iPhone 6, but I want to know first if someone had the same issue and maybe knows how to solve it. Thank you very much.

UPDATE: I solved the problem.
The ghost picture was in my iCloud Photo Library. I still couldn't see it on icloud.com because there were no pictures uploaded, but in the iPhone's settings (iCloud>Photos) when the library was uploading, even if I had no pictures in my camera roll, showed "Preparing to upload 1 element". So I immediately understood that was that famous photo. At this point, I just deactivated iCloud photo library and did the backup with the setting on "OFF". I erased my iPhone and I restored the backup without the photo library. When my iPhone was ready, I checked there were no pictures in camera roll and I activated the iCloud photo library and guess what? It saved in camera roll the ghost pic that was hidden for the long period. So the games were done, I deleted the ghost pic and my icloud photo library was updated correctly with '0 elements'. I checked on icloud.com and I have no photos in storage, I also checked the DCIM folder connecting my iphone to the PC and there is no 'phantomatic pic'.
I hope this will help some people with the same issue. Best regards and sorry for my english.

  • Can't view ANY photos...camera roll or otherwise

    My wife's iphone had firmware 2.2.1 . She had 300 + pics on her camera roll. She downloaded some sort of Photo Edit application from the app store for $1.99 or so. After she installed this application, the phone would no longer allow her to view her camera roll. When I click on "Camera Roll" under "Photos", all of the pictures are solid white. I tried deleting the app which she purchased and restarting the phone. That did not work. Next, I upgraded her firmware to 3.0 and then restarted her iphone. Now, when viewing "Camera Roll", the entire screen is black and she also cannot view many pictures on "Facebook", etc. I'm looking for a way (if there is one) to save her camera roll pictures. I only want to restore her phone if it is absolutely necessary. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    It would appear to me this application is what started the problem. Have you tried to delete that application and see if things work? Also, if you are taking that many photos in the camera roll and are not downloading them periodically to the computer, and pardon me for being frank, you are inviting problems. The iPhone, like any computer device can have problems and you could lose all those photos. The only way to ensure backing the photos up is to download them to the computer. Try removing the application and see what happens. You can then try a reset on the phone by holding the home button and the sleep/wake button until you see the apple logo and release the buttons. Ignore the slider when it appears. The reset will not effect any data. Hope that helps you.

  • How can I get all photos from the camera roll onto the photo stream so they will share between iphone and ipad?

    How can I get all photos from the camera roll, and all new pictures taken, to get on the photostream so they can share between iphone and ipad?

    When turning PhotoStream on with photos available in the Camera Roll, only photos captured by the iPhone or saved on the iPhone are placed in the PhotoStream.
    For all photos that were in the Camera Roll prior to turning PhotoStream on, import the photos with your computer and add the photos to your PhotoStream on your computer.

  • If I delete photos from my camera roll will I lose them from the cloud as well?

    If I delete photos from my camera roll will they be deleted from my cloud as well?

    No, photos in photo stream are not effected by deleting photos from your camera roll.  However, while photo stream photos are not deleted from your phone after they are in your photo stream album, photos older than 30 days are deleted from photo stream.  These means if you ever turn photo stream off, or connect a new device to photo stream, only photos added in the last 30 days will be available to download.  To keep them permanently, import your camera roll photos to your computer before deleting them (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083).

  • HT201302 How do I delete a photo from my camera roll and not delete it from a folder

    When I delete photos from my camera roll, it also deletes them from the folder I've saved them in. How do I delete from the camera roll and not lose them from the folder?

    "When I delete photos from my camera roll, it also deletes them from the folder I've saved them in. "
    Correct.  There is only one photo and it is in the camera roll.  The folders you create are just a way to organize the pics.  it does not create a duplicate pic.
    Just as a song is in your library and a playlist, a pic is in the camera roll and the folder.
    If you delete a song from the library, then it is gone.  The same is true of pics.

  • How do I add photos to the camera roll that were not taken on my iPad? I imported photos to my iPad from my camera, and now I want to add them to my camera roll which is sync'ed with Dropbox as a back up mechanism.

    Consider using sshfs to mount your Pi from your Linux boxes.  It's much easier to configure and manage than samba.  It sounds like you already have your Windows machines mounting your Pi so Samba is doing its job in that respect.
    More info on sshfs in the Wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Sshfs
    To help get you off the dime, here's a modified line from my fstab that I use to mount my Pi with:
    gav@PI:/mnt/backup /mnt/rpi/backup fuse.sshfs rw,relatime,user_id=0,group_id=0,allow_other 0 0
    Subsitute my mount points with yours.
    For a password-less mount:
         ssh-copy-id gav@PI
    after you've set up ssh and generated some keys on your client box.
    Here are some relevant lines from the smb.conf file on my Pi that I use for my one Windows box in the house that might help you with your write permissions:
       security = user
      hosts allow = 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0
      guest account = gav
    ; And my share setup:
    [rpi]
       comment = Public Stuff
       path = /mnt
       writable = yes
    ;   printable = no
    ;   write list = @krb
    [torrent_dl]
       path = /mnt/video/torrent_dl
       writable = yes
       create mask = 0770
       directory mask = 0770
       guest ok = Yes
       case sensitive = No
       read only = No
    Hope this helps.

  • I have a photo PDF slide show in an email. How do I get the photos into my camera roll on iPad ?

    I have a photo slide show PDF file in an email. How to I transfer the photos in my camera roll on my iPad?

    Well I guess you can press cmd + shift + 3 to take a picture of your whole screen or cmd + shift + 4 to take a picture of a selected area, that will create a file called "screen shot yyyy-mm-dd at hh:mm:ss.jpg" on your desktop then you just select those files and drag them into iPhoto.

  • How do I move photos from my camera roll to my photostream on the iPod Touch

    I turned off the photostream because I didn't like that when I would delete a photo I'd have to delete it from two seprate places. But now syncing my photos to my computer is a huge pain since I don't use a Mac. So I figured photostream was my best bet since it syncs into a nice folder automatically on my computer.
    When I turned photostream back on it didn't include any pictures from my camera roll that I took after I had initially turned photostream off.
    It doesn't give me the option to select them from my camera roll and copy them to the photostream. Please tell me there's a way to do this?

    See:
    iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ
    Also, this
    Re: photos from my camera roll do not show up in photostream
    included:
    Note: disabling photostream and re-enabling it will result in any photos that are currently in the photostream album on your device, that are older than 30 days old, not being added back.

  • How do i move photos from photo library to camera roll

    how do i move photos from photo library to camera roll on ipod touch 4th generation

    I also had a similar problem with "photo library" and wondered how to do about copying my photos there to my computer. I was delighted when i succeeded moving my photos from my iphone4s "Photo library" to my "camera roll".
    I could do it using 3 apps: 1) fileExplorer 2) fileapp 3) dropbox
    Downloading these apps on my iphone devide and then Using 1) I was able to see my albums in "photolibrary" and open it in either 2) or 3). Opening it up in 2) fileapp, will give you the option to save in "camera roll" with the top right hand corner button.
    After saving it in camera roll, I will be able to easily copy them out from camera roll from DCIM folder onto your computer.
    I am not a comp savvy person, and I managed.

  • I expand my icloud storage but i can't find my photos from my camera roll?

    Before I subscribed for icloud storage I read that all pictures from camera roll will be save also so I did subscribe but now that im viewing my icloud i couldn't find any except the one's from photo stream. What happened now to my photos in my camera roll? where can i find it?

    The Camera Roll is for temporary storage. Photos/videos in the Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer ASAP as with any other digital camera. The Camera Roll is also included with the iPhone's backup, which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process.
    If the photos/videos were not imported by your computer and your iPhone wasn't synced with iTunes since the photos/videos were captured by your iPhone,
    There is another way to recover deleted photo from iPhone 4.

  • ICloud not restoring my photos in the camera roll. HELP ! :(

    Apparently I had to reset my iphone but before doing this I checked if my back up was updated with icloud and IT WAS!
    After sucessfully completing the reset process I found out that all my stuff is back (contacts, notes, reminders etc.) EXCEPT the photos in my camera roll.
    The pictures and videos were important, their backup was only on icloud :/
    Then I reset my phone a few times again, choosing different backups each time but nothing helped!
    I also checked my storage and backup options in settings to make sure there was a backup of my photos and it said "178 MB" next to the camera roll which means I should be able to get my photos back but instead the camera roll is empty :(
    Now, I've tried everything and have failed.
    Please Help ! It would be really appreciated.

    Not sure if you still haven't fixed the problem by now. But the way I got round it was:
    Going to the page where you can 'Erase all data and settings' etc (Settings>General>Reset)
    And instead of pressing the button to erase literally everything, instead i pressed 'Reset AllSettings' instead, which takes you to the exact same Welcome setup thing (but the process is quicker coz it doesnt delete everything).
    Then go through the steps as normal and try again, this time with a different restore point if you can.
    Hopefully should do the trick.
    I'm not sure if it worked becuase I used a different restore point, or becuase I Reset the settings and not everything. But it did the trick, and there all downloading now.
    Good luck

  • "Photos in the Camera Roll of "(your) iPhone" cannot be imported because the device is locked with a passcode.  You must unlock the device to import them."  My iPhone 5 running the latest iOS 7.1 and I'm using iPhoto '11 v 9.4.3

    "Photos in the Camera Roll of "(your) iPhone" cannot be imported because the device is locked with a passcode.  You must unlock the device to import them."  That's the new error message when I plug in my iPhone 5 running the latest iOS 7.1 into the MacBook Pro running iPhoto '11 v.9.4.3.  My Mac OSX is still 10.8.5.
    So, I unlock the iPhone by entering the "passcode" before I plug it into the MBP and still iPhoto does nothing.  At least it doesn't issue the error message above.
    I've checked both iPhoto preferences and those for Photos and Camera in the Settings on the iPhone.  There doesn't seem to be anything to change this lack of connectivity.
    What next please?

    An hour-long phone discussion with Apple Support yesterday solved this question and sorted a couple of others.
    As for this one, do not ignore any messages which pop up when you plug in your iPhone and ask "Trust this computer?".  The correct reply is "Yes", not "Cancel".
    OK, you cancelled like I did, thinking "What on earth is this for?".  Mistake.  You can force the issue by having iTunes open when you next plug in your iPhone.  Tell the iPhone that it can trust its old friend, your computer and voila!  Your photos can download into iPhoto again.
    Thank you, Jay with Apple Sydney, Australia!

    How to delete photos not in camera roll?

    The only way to delete photos NOT in the camera roll is to sync the phone with those photos deselcted.
    @iLikeCheesyStuff:  The photo stream photos are in the camera roll  as well.  The OP is referring to photos synced to his phone, which can't be deleted directly on the phone.
