A gloom outlook on the fut

To me this is a very simple situation. A. I bought the best product CL had to offer for a hefty sum of money, just a few months ago (X-Fi Elite Pro).
B. At that time CL was communicating that drivers would be ready for Vista in time for the "official" release.
C. Today, there is no working driver/software for Vista. Clearly this is CL's problem, not mine. Only it becomes mine because I now have a firm belief that CL never will release drivers/software that gives me the same functionality as in XP. The reason for this is largely circumstantial but here goes:?. The shoddy beta drivers. If you can't do better than this in several months, why would you all of a sudden be able to in less than one month?
2. The second beta was not called a beta on the web-site when it was released. Mistake by whoever published it's Perha
ps.
3. The infamous "Driver chart" _still_ lists X-Fi drivers as ready and available after two weeks of rants on this board. I'd say that's tantamount to fraud, but that's just my opinion.
4. Suspicious lack of info. Catherine and Dale have stated beginning of March as release date?for official drivers, and hinted of a new beta before that. Today it's February 2 and they still claim not to have anymore info. Even for a large, badly functioning company, it seams incredible not to be able to get more information from the project lead at this point. The chances for a new beta looks grim indeed - Do you really think they will release one, only to replace it with official driver two weeks later?Mind you, I don't doubt for a second that official drivers will be released on time (or close to it). I just a have very strong suspicion that they will meet only the bare minimum of functionality, and that they will strain our CPU's by doing in software what should be done in hardware. So, what to do? Well, either I let this get to me. (And believe me a have very strong feelings about this. Why would I otherwise spend this much time on a futile post?)
But since cardiac arrest or hypertension doesn't have the appeal it used to, when I was Young and Angry, I choose simply to go back to XP. I will, however, monitor the situation, and if my doubts prove substantiated I will not consider CL's products again. Unfortunately, while I think there are many like myself, who take our business elsewhere if we are treated badly, I also know that there are many many new customers just entering the market every day. In closing I think this is quite a rational process, the way CL deals with situations like this. I.e. weighing the cost of living up to expectations, against the risk of loosing sales.

Exactly !!! I could not have put it better myself. Maybe the old Cash-And-Run soundcard company will start losing money for a change. Every company needs some heat on them to keep them honest. Creative is no longer the premier sound card company, as they have proved once again they are mediocre. And when the going gets tough, and customers do really wils things like ask for answers, get upset at shoddy treatment, srupid resonses, all they can do is have some moderator truncate embarressing threads. Well, they have been getting my money for over ten years now, and have done next to nothing to deserve it in the last fi've. If nothing else, I am learning about a whole slew of other companies and products in the audio market. What I really hate is the fact that Creative is trying to turn this whole fiasco around and blame the customer. Will be interesting to see how their stock reacts. Man cannot li've on Mp3 players. Anybody thats serious in the audio business does not look to creative, and certainly not after this customer service disaster. REad this quick before it too gets shut down. Truth hurtzzz. Anyway, jmersant, good post. Back to setting up a not-so state of the art computer so I can use a not-so state of the art sound card I paid a futuristic price for.

I have a similar problem: I switched from mac mail to Outlook 2011 as the default client, and want to switch back. Mailto links (eg from browser etc) default to Mail. However, when I try to email a Word document as an attachment, it continues to open Outlook. Outlook has a button in its prefs for making it the default client, but I don't see a way to turn this pref off in either Outlook or in Word.

iCloud email supports 'plus' addressing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Email_address#Address_tags
So your friend could just add '+research' to the username part of your email address, and you setup a rule at icloud.com to put all emails sent to that address into a particular folder.
For example:

There's no way to do it without rules on the server though.

Every time I am trying to sync my calendar, notes and mail account with my iPhone through iTunes I keep getting a notifactions saying 'Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. I'm getting this and it's really annonying. The Nokia PC Suite provided a basic but functional PC calendar. Surely there's a simple PC client for the iPhone Calendar somewhere. I use Outlook Express and started using Outlook 2002 to manage my calendar but since a recent iTunes upgrade it's stopped working, giving this "default mail client" error. When I set Outlook to be the default mail client it made no difference.
Apple - you've scored an own goal here. Something that did work now doesn't work, and the only thing that's changed is your software.
I don't doubt it's down to compatability with M$ Outlook Add-ins, but they've not changed.

"Outlook" is the program you use to access your email account. You cannot use Outlook on the iPhone.
You can, however, setup your same work email account you use in Outlook, in the "Mail" app on your iPhone.
You will need to obtain the relevant email server settings, username and password that you used to set the email account up in Outlook on your PC, then follow these instructions:

Dear Community,
I'm synchronising my T3 with two PCs. One with Vista & Outlook 2007 and the other with XP & Outlook 2003. Both with the latest conduit & Hotsync Manager versions installed for each OS based on the availability on the Palm Website.
My problem is that when I synchronise the T3 with either PC and then try to sync it with the other I'm receiving the following error message for the Calendar:

The passed buffer is too small for the reply data.

OLERR:0D-0001
- Slow Sync
Outlook Calendar synchronization failed
The second time the sync is successful but takes a long time and the actual problem is that it creates duplicates for records previously changed on either PC - but with a sync in between those changes, i.e. no conflict in the sense that the same record was changed in both environments since the last sync. I have configured the conflict handling to establish a hierarchy PC1-T3-PC2 but try to avoid them by synchronising as often as possible.
Has anyone come across that problem or any ideas? Can you somehow adjust the buffer size for the sync? I have been using Lotus Organiser & then the various Outlook versions for a number of years.

I figured out the problem. I started the Sync tool, selected "Settings", then "Mcrosoft Outlook" tab and then "Select Folders" button. I browsed to the proper folders in Outlook (Calendar, Tasks, etc). Select OK enough times and retried the sync.
It worked.

thank you both for your responses. I'm having trouble mostly with a way to handle my business contacts. I'm self employed and when I had Outlook for Microst(before I switched to Apple)I was so pleased with this softward. Esp the way it would keep track of any correspondense between me and my customer. I could also track billing thru Outlook contacts.
Now, I get my mail thru outllook and use ical and @contacts. I see that I can have a separate group of contacts thru @contacts, but, it's not the same or nearly as good as Outlook contacts for Microsoft.
So, right now I'm really disapointed with my Mac purchase and hoping to find an app that will help. I will investigate Thunderbird.

Syncing contacts to OUTLOOK changes the display format

When I sync to OUTLOOK, the names show up as LAST, FIRST...even though I have set it to be FIRST, LAST in OUTLOOK....and does anyone know of conduit or syncing software that will change the fields in OUTLOOK to be the same as in iPhone (or vice versa) so that all data is found in the same fields when looking at iPhone contacts or OUTLOOK contacts? That is how its supposed to be. When you edit an contact on the iPhone and tap the name, you can see a box with up to four rows. The first name should be on the first row, the Last name should be in the second row, the title in the third row, and the company in the fourth row. If you have no title or company, then you only see two rows. If you have a contact with only company name, you will see three rows, with the first one saying "First" in light grey, the second saying "Last" in light grey, and the company name in the third row.
How its set to display in Outlook should have no bearing on how it displays on the iPhone. I have mine showing in Outlook using the field, and on the iPhone I use First Last (but sorted Last First).
So what you are saying is that when you sync, your Outlook changes the way it displays your contacts?

Hello,
So Outlook has failed to launch and an error dialog (error reporting) pops up. A lot of things can cause this issues.
One of the main causes is a corrupt Navigation Pane settings file. You might need to start Outlook using the /resetnavpane
switch. Just run command (Windows key + R), type or paste:
outlook.exe /resetnavpane (Please note that you will lose any customizations on the navigation pane)
In certain cases, a corrupted data file will also cause this problem. So, if the /resetnavpane switch doesn't really work, please try to repair your data file with
scanpst.exe tool:
