A infocube or DSO Needs to be Partitioned

Hi All,
1.I am having a compensation management infocube (0PACM_C01) i know how do partition using either 0CALMONTH or OFISCPER and how to prove that it needs partitioning? why we have to go for it? any issues if i go for partioning?
2. The infopackages of HC_EMPLIST_SNP_20XX (ZPAPA_C10) are sequential in process chain , can we go for parallel processing if so what are limitations?

Hi,
Do a search on the WIKIs, blogs and threads here. There is loads of content on this available. Also depending on your BW version, if you are 7.3+ the consider Semantic Partitioning.
Leveraging Semantic Partitioning Cube in Planning and Consolidation

  • Fields in infocube and DSO?

    Hi Experts,
I need some information regarding maximum number of fields in infocube and DSO?
According to my knowledge, in Infocube - characteristics --248
                                                                             Keyfigures--233
                                                    In DSO - key fields - 16
                                                                  Data fields -749
I thought dat DSO has 3 tables. maximum number of columns in a table is 255. So 255 * 3( 3tables in DSO) is 755.
                                                 755(total fields)-16(key fields)= 749(data fields).
Is it correct?can anyone clarify my doubt pls?
    Thanks in Advance
    Jani Sk.

    Hi,
In cube , table consists of 255 columns, in which 6 are internally used by SAP,16 for dimensions and the remaining 233 are for Key figures. Each dimension key connected to 248 master data tables at max through dimension and SID tables. So, We can analyse the data at 16*248 dimensions.
ODS/DSO  is a two dimensional flat structure. It consists of total 1024 columns, out of which 16 are used for Key fields and remaining 1000  are for data fields.
    Thanks,
    Sandeep

  • How to get the size of all InfoCubes and DSO's?

    Hi all,
My client wants a complete list of all InfoCubes and DSO's in terms of size (no records but KB). This list of the Cubes / DSO's gives us a picture of the used storage per Area and can be charged. Iu2019ve seen some threats and looked into the possibilities of ST14 and DB02. ST14 provides the ideal list but with a restriction for the top 30 InfoCubes and the top 30 DSO's. Does anyone know how to get such a list for all InfoCubes and DSO's?
    Thnx in advance,
    Henk.

    Hello Henk,
while I am searching for some performance problems in our BI, I tried to look through the new DB02 of BI 7.0. And there is a function which helps a lot creating lists of Cube, DSOs and so on:
    Start DB02
On the left side find SPACE -> Additional Functions -> BW Analysis
A Doubleclick will give you a broad survey of the current memory disposition regarding BI/BW objects.
In the BW Area "Cubes & related objects" you can find Infocube E- and F-Facttable. Depending on the Compressed state of your cubes you will find more data in E or F. Just doubleclick on one of these Entries. In my environment currently F-Tables are more effective.
You will then get a list of all Infocubes with size.
You will have to this for E and F Tables and some up over the Infocubes. But, because this will show only the Cubes and not the partitions of the cube it will be much easier to handle than DB02OLD.
Perhaps this helps, because you did not mention your BW/BI release.
    Kind regards,
    Jürgen

  • Multiple rows in BI Infocube/or DSO for one row in source system

    Hi Gurus,
I have a typical scenario where in I have a ztable in R/3 system and it contains some custome transaction data.
The business scenario wants it to split into multiple records in BI ( ofcourse keys for each records in BI would be unique). Either infocube or DSO can be used to store the data in BI.
Is it possible to do that. As far as my knowledge goes( I have limited BI exposure) one record from source system ( read row) is transformed into one record ( row) in BI in simple transformation.
Please give me some rough idea if its possible how can we achieve it.
I know we can write an ABAP program and create a ztable to do it and use the ztable as source for incube/dso. But I want to use this as last option.
    Thanks
    Sumit

    Hi,
    An ODS will be better.
    Use a start routine.
    data-package --> package2
create your own package with your rules.
    update.insert.modify.append....
    package2 --> data_package
and from 1 row, you create n row as your rules would like..

  • DYNPRO_WRITE_FAILED on every InfoObject, InfoCube, Characteristic, DSO

I met a fatal error: DYNPRO_WRITE_FAILED when I use "Display Data" function on any InfoObject or InfoCube or DSO or characteristic in my InfoArea. I use sm50, sm51 to see that server always has 3 pink error process running (1 is DIA, 2 are BGD).
Some online article mentions that DYNPRO_WRITE_FAILED might be related to memory, buffer issues. And I use st22 to view the application failure log. It told me to terminate the ABAP program with ID: "GPDAV......"
I enter running process screen via sm50, and use "cancel without core", or "end session" or "cancel program". But whatever I tried, those 3 process keep in pink error status.
Can anyone help me out. How can I clean up those error processes on the server to avoid this DYNPRO_WRITE_FAILED error?
Thanks for your help in advance.
    Regards,
    Roy Zhou

    Hi, Suman
    Thanks for your suggestion.
I use DB02 to see the Database overview. Totally 80GB space, 71% is used. Looks like 16GB free space are good. In fact, I am not sure it is memory issue or not.
I use st11 to get the dev_w1 log, there is one section describes the DYNPRO_WRITE_FAILED error information. But I can not figure out what that means. Could you please take look my log to see what is the better solution to avoid this DYNPRO_WRITE_FAILED error. Because the result of DTP, transform result are all in green status in the monitor screen. But when I choose "Display Data" menu item, then the following errors occur:

  • [Solved] Do I need a swap partition /swap file?

    Hello Arch Community.
I want to install Arch Linux on my Aspire V5-573G Notebook with 8GB RAM and a 120GB 840 Evo SSD from Samsung. So my question is, do I actually need a swap partition / swap file? I read the arch-wiki pages about swap and suspend-to-disk / suspend-to-ram, and the only thing thats obviously profiting from / needing a swap partition is suspend-to-disk, no other things are mentioned in this regard. Is a swap partition in any other way important?
    Thanks in advance.

No. The OOM killer is pretty darn tweaked these days and usually(!) kills the actual perpetrator. The alternative—disabling memory overcommitting and answering memory requests with an out-of-memory error—can result in unforeseen problems as well: What if it  a system process is trying to allocate a few bytes for some random string, and what if said system process isn't equipped to handle ENOMEM gracefully and crashes, because the default policy on Linux is to overcommit and never answer with out-of-memory errors?
Just trying to play devil's advocate here. I'm not happy with the OOM killer either and I'd rather have a deterministic solution to out-of-memory situations, but I realize that it's probably not an easy problem to solve.

  • Changing data in InfoCube or DSO??

    Hello Gurus,
is it possible to change the Data contents either in an InfoCube or in a DSO. I am loading data from R/3 first into the DSO and then into the InfoCube. The data seems to be redundant in the source system and i would like to change certain records for testing my query. Pls help.
    POINTS WILL BE AWARDED!!
    Regards,
    SD

    Hi,
If you have taken the data through the PSA to the ODS, and the request exists in the PSA, then delete the request in the ODS, change the date in PSA and then load the same request back to the ODS using reconstruction.
You can also delete data in the cube and do a full update into the cube form the ODS with the changed data.
    Couple of other options:
    1.  You can create a self reference on the ODS and in the routine hard code some values or pick them up from another ODS.
    2.  You can load a flat file into ODS with the values you want.
    3.  This is extreme.  An ODS is a table, you can get table write authorisation and directly write into the ODS table, using SE11.  This then takes you away from the wonderful world of data loading etc...and will mean that to make subsequent productive use of the ODS you will need to delete all data.
    cheers....

  • If I have a Windows 8.1 disk, do I need to keep partitions for GT70 2OC?

I've run into a few problems so I'm going to be doing a reinstall. My GT70 2OC came with Windows 8, but I have 8.1 on a thumb drive. Is there any reason I would need any of the saved partitions such as the recovery partition or can I reformat everything and start fresh? Will I be fine if I download the drivers from the MSI website? Is there anything else I might need to make sure the laptop functions as well as before?
    Thanks for your help!

I would suggest you to create 2nd tumb drive with recovery from laptop for future use incase etc you want to sell laptop in future and new owner wants it's default stuff then you can restore it once you created that you can then format laptop to new os but first make sure new usb has the recovery copy.

  • Do I need to create partition on msata before factory/recovery install?

I am trying to use the recovery media to install the factory settings W7 to a newly installed Intel 310.
I have installed the 310, and it is definitely there and recognized by the computer.  I have removed my HDD and plugged in a DVD drive.  Also on hand are the successfully created recovery media (1 CD + 3 DVDs).
I put in the CD and boot via the DVD drive.  The Windows screen comes on and then it goes to R&R.  From there, I cannot for the life of me figure how how to start the ball rolling on installing W7 to the msata drive.
The two options presented appear to be to install a previous recovery backup, and none are listed.  Or to recover from an image, which then takes me to a screen that does not seem to identify an image no matter which of the four recover discs I put in.
Is there any Lenovo page that shows step by step to re-installing recovery media from disk?  I'm not a complete newb so this is frustrating.
My only guess perhaps is that I need to create a partition on msata before starting the factory recovery.  Not sure why that would be the case in that the factory recovery probably has utilities built in to do so, but I can't think of anything else.
    Thanks for any help.

Tried it again.  Didn't work.  But it's now clear to me that Lenovo R&R is failing to recognize the recovery disk that it created earlier today.  R&R said the recovery media was successfully created, but I guess not.
I will try installing from a Win7 installation disc.  Thanks for your help.

  • Need help removing partition on macbook pro

    Hello
    I have a macbook pro 17" OSx 10.6.6
I have a partition that i am trying to remove. When I open up boot camp assistant and click continue then click i already have downloaded the windows support software to a cd dvd or external disk it tells me that the startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored toa single partition.
    I am stumped.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    -Luke

Have you tried to repartition the drive with Disk Utility to add a third partition or to remove the Boot Camp partition?
I would repair the hard drive to see if that helps:
    Repair the Hard Drive
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.

  • Need to split partition my Mountain Lion HDD with Lion.

    Hi all,
My MBP was shipped with Lion, I bought Mountain Lion and upgraded. However I now need to install Lion onto a partition of my HDD for my Firewire mixer (Phonic Helixboard 12 MKII). This mixer doesn't work with Mountain Lion sadly as they said they weren't updating the drivers...bad times. I also want a bootable partition for using my laptop live. Having nothing else but my music software running sort of thing to reduce technical hitches.
Anyway, I cannot find the Lion .app installer on the store (even with sneaky "option" on the purchases). Presumably I have never bought Lion then? Or is there something I'm missing?
Any ideas? I know I may be treading over old ground, but I've scoured the community for people that have Mountain Lion, but then need Lion. My main annoyance is that I've theoretically bought Lion as it came with the MBP.
(Also didn't know if this'd be an OS problem or MBP problem, sorry if I've placed this in the wrong place)
    Many Thanks.
    Patrick.

First let's split the HDD up so both cats can live harmoniously (I also have a twin-cat household in mine so I can tell you it does work). You need to boot off something not on the internal HDD whose partition table you are going to modify. If you have a bootable clone on an external drive, use that. Else concoct a bootable USB Recovery Disk on a flash stick with the Recovery Disk Assistant, as detailed here:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4848 Also make sure you have a full and complete backup in case all goes South and you end up needing to reformat the drive entirely.
When you have booted as needed, run Disk Utility from the external drive. Choose the drive in the list so the Partitions tab appears, click on that. You'll see your Macintosh HD volume using up all the drive space. Clck and drag from the lower-right corner upwards to shrink the volume. Can only do so if there's unused room left. You will have an empty space left underneath. Click Apply to complete the shrinking. Then click on the plus ( + ) button to create a new volume in the newly freed space. Give it a name, make sure it is OS X Extended (Journaled) and Apply. Ta-da, you now have TWO volumes for your cats.
Now, if you're using the USB Recovery Disk, simply exit out of Disk Utility to return to the top-level menu and be able to choose "Reinstall OS X". Do that now, choosing your new and blank volume as the destination. If my calculations are right, you should be granted access to the default cat originally entitled to your Mac, which would be Lion and what you want.
Try that for now. If the right cat does not float down the wire, we'll do more brainstorming on how to get it.

  • Why do we need system reserved partition

    Hi,
From windows vista and above MS has come up with an additional 100mb system reserved partition. I read about it on several places over the web that, this partition is used for BCD store.
There are several other filse/folders( en-US, cs-cz, ja-JP, memset.exe) inside other than the BCD store, what do these folders keep and what purpose do they serve. Is it mandatory to have them here, as I tried to delete some of them and didn't face any problem
    while booting.
    Thanks in advance

The System Reserved partition contains boot files, bitlocker files (if enabled) and things needed for recovery purposes. The idea is that, (ideally) this partition is separate from the OS and that a recovery partition is present. If something were to happen
to the OS, you would still be able to boot to recovery (repair your computer) as the bootloader is not in the OS partition. Is it not required to install Windows with that partition.
When a computer boots, it will attempt to boot the first active partition. In the case there are no active partitions, it will attempt to boot the first partition. This is why the System Reserved partition is supposed to be the first partition. On a GPT
disk, it is possible to have the System partition be the second (with none marked active) and the OS will still boot, so I'm sure there is more to it than that, but maybe it gives you an idea.
The directories are certainly not empty. You would need to use the attribute switch to specify system or hidden files in order to see them with DIR.

  • BI: How many bytes consumes an Infocube or DSO in Database

    Hi Colleagues,
is there an easy way, to find out, how many MB an Infocube or an DSO consumes actually on DB.
    Thanks ans regards,
    Wolfgang

Well yes ST14 can take a while to run, but this is largely dependent on data volumes, so while it might be 15 hrs on one BW, it might be 1 hr on another.  There are some parallel processing options on it as well.
    Should look something like this:

  • What's the easiest ( and cheapest ) way to re-partition my boot drive I don't need an old partition any more.

I partiotioned a small amount of space to keep some old Snow Leopard apps that I found I don'r need any more and would lie to reclaim that space on on my boot drive. Thanks.

It's easy to delete that partition. See > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU4.html
Then, you will have to resize your first partition in order to use all the storage with it
