A kind of hosting mode in Exchange 2013?

Hi @ all,
I have a Windwos Server 2012 as DC with AD, DNS, DHCP. Also I have a Windows Server 2012 with Exchange 2013.
In the Active Directory I have different OUs for different groups of users. Every OU has it's own Administrator. And now I want, that the Admin only can create/see/edit/delete Mailboxes and Users out of his own OU. (like hosting mode in Exchange 2010)
I used RBAC and different scopes. Now each Administrator can only manage his own OU, but sees all.
I uses this example for my scope:
New-ManagementScope -Name "Executive Mailboxes" -RecipientRoot "contoso.com/Executives" -RecipientRestrictionFilter {RecipientType -eq "UserMailbox"}
(of cours with the my attributes ;) )
But it didn't work.
In summary, I want to realise a "hosting mode" in Exchange 2013.
I've tried an long time different ways, but nothing worked.
Can anybody help me?
dechecker
Sorry for my english, it's not the best. :)

    Hello!
    I have organization Exchange 2010 + Exchange 2013 in one AD site (hybrid organization)

    I cleaned parameter "PublicFolderDatabase"  for Exchange 2013 database,  but the problem didn't solve.

  • Outlook clients cannot connect Exchange 2013 cutover from 2010

    Hello,
    My company has been running an Exchange 2013/2010 coexistence. Currently, Exch 2013 (2mbx and 1 CAS) utilizes "mail2.domain.com" for the name space. Exch 2010 (1MBX 1 CAS) uses "mail.domain.com"
    We recently attempted to cutover external and internal DNS to point "mail.domain.com" and "autodiscover.domain.com" to the Exch 2013 server.
    We changed all virtual directories on 2013 to use "https://mail.domain.com/owa" (ECP, EWS, etc. were changed too) for the internal and external URL. The Exch 2010 virtual directories internal URL are set to "https://internalFQDN.domain.com/owa"
    the external URLs are $null
    Both CAS servers were setup to use Outlook Anywhere since this is how 2013 proxies to 2010. The internal URLs for both were set to "mail.domain.com" IIS authentication Methods (Basic, NTLM). ClientAuthenicsationMethod: NTLM.
    For both servers the autodiscoverserviceinternaluri was set to: https://autodiscover.domain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
    The 2013 server has two SSL certificates installed. One is a wildcard cert for "*.domain.com" and the other includes our SANs (mail.domain.com, mail2.domain.com, webmail.domain.com, autodiscover.domain.com) it also includes the FQDN for the 2010
    and 2013 CAS servers.
    I'm speaking in the past tense because we had to roll back. The problem was no Outlook user could connect. This goes for mailboxes hosted on the Exchange 2013 and 2010 servers. The error was: "Cannot
    open your default e-mail folder" to "The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete".
    Everything else worked fine during the cutover. OWA 2013 login page proxied 2010 logins properly, Outlook 2011 could connect with EWS fine, Active-Sync worked without issues too.
    It was only the Outlook 2010 and 2013 clients that could not connect.
    We rolled back and everything is working as it was before with the separate namespace. That leads me to think it's something with Outlook Anywhere (RPC/HTTPS)
    but the settings seem correct unless I'm missing something. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hard to say. I've had to change the router to point to the old server as mail wasnt getting in. But OWA did seem ok, although I couldn't send messages... I could only see the inbox and contacts etc.

  • Outlook advanced search & Exchange 2013 - "Sent to...." field doesn't work correctly in online mode?

    Hello,<o:p></o:p>
    We've come across what seems to be a problem with advanced find in Outlook in online mode, when used with Exchange 2013.
    Using the "Messages" tab of "Advanced Find", anything typed into the "Sent to...." field produces no search results.  If the field is populated by clicking
    "Sent to..." and selecting a name from a contact list or GAL, results are returned.
    eg.
    Sent items contains messages to "Charlie" who has the email address
    [email protected] and sender is
    "Dave" who has the email address
    [email protected]
    Entering "charlie" or
    [email protected], (or any previously acceptable partial term such as "charl" or "@contoso.com") into the "Sent to"" field produces no results.  If the user exists in a contact
    list and is selected from it, the search works fine.  The same is true searching the inbox, using the local user's id of "Dave" or
    [email protected]
    We've confirmed this issue occurs at four client's sites, plus our own internal Exchange 2013 CU3 system.  Four of the sites have been transitioned from Exchange 2010, the fifth was a completely new installation.  The problem occurs with Outlook
    2007, 2010 and 2013.
    This works fine in cached mode (not a solution as our clients are predominantly Citrix/RDS).  Exchange search doesn't report any issues and the index states are all "healthy",
    we've also tried rebuilding the indexes with no improvement.
    Any ideas would be appreciated, or even if someone else can confirm they see the same thing.
    Thanks.

    Hi Winnie,
    Thanks for your reply, and I'm sorry I've not responded earlier.  While this problem is one that's annoying several of our clients, and while I have been doing further testing and investigation, it's had to take a back seat to other more pressing issues
    until now.
    OWA search works fine, as does using "From:" in instant search, and the "From" query on the Advanced tab in Advanced Find.  The search services have been restarted, indexing state and copy status etc are all healthy, the indexes
    have been rebuilt/reseeded, and I've gone through the diagnostics again.  Nothing is logged in event viewer, and the only error that comes up when checking failed index docs for a user are for unsupported format handlers (.png etc).
    The issue seems purely to be with the "Sent to..." field on the Messages tab, it's as if it gets completely ignored.  The search returns instantly with "There are no items to show in this view".  Just to make sure I wasn't losing
    my marbles, I've compared searches on Exchange 2007 and 2010, and on those I can enter as little as a single letter or email domain and receive the expected results.  On 2013 I get nothing whatsoever whatever I enter, unless I pick an address from a contact
    list.
    At this point, I thought that since Office 365 is Exchange 2013 based it'd be worth testing that, and sure enough I got exactly the same issue.  I setup an Office 365/Outlook 2010 profile on a machine that is currently in an existing Exchange 2010
    environment where search works correctly, searching Office 365 doesn't work on that either.
    EDIT - Ignore this bit, a fresh install of Windows 7 and Office 2010 doesn't work with Office 365 either.  I am exploring another avenue.  I setup a fresh Windows 7 VM, installed Office 2010 and connected that to Office 365, search worked fine,
    so I'm now looking into what the difference with that VM and the servers and workstations out "in the wild" could be.  For example, the test VM isn't on a domain, it's not fully patched, it has no additional software installed etc.  Outside
    of Microsoft applications and operating systems and having similar configurations, I haven't isolated a common link across all of our client sites that are affected, there's no single 3rd party application or anti-virus solution in place at all of them for
    example.
    I'll update with any findings, but if you or anyone else has any idea in the meantime I'd be grateful for your input.
    Regards.

  • Exchange 2013 - Attachments in *.EML files missing in non-cached mode

    Hello
    Our client recently upgraded from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013. Since the migration they have had issues with an archiving system they use. Bascially the archiving system creates .eml files of journaled emails.
    The issue our client has is when Outlook is running in non-cached exchange mode any attachments within these .eml files are missing when the eml file is opened. If they change to cached mode the attachments show up fine.
    It's almost identical to the following issue I found while browsing the net:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/b9a390a9-e014-4098-ad6e-dd377a53422a/office-2010-exchange-2010-attachments-in-emlemails-are-invisible?forum=outlook
    Aside from the Exchange version this is exactly what is happening for our client. Is anyone aware of whether the same issue fixed in Rollup update 5 for Exch 2010 SP1 is still present in Exchange 2013?
    Our client has already said they don't want everyone using cached exchange so I can't tell them that. Is there a way to manually fix the issue or are we going to have to move back to Exchange 2010 while a patch is sent out? Does anyone know exactly what
    the issue is?
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    I know there was this issue with Exchange 2010, but haven't noticed the same issue in Exchange 2013. The suggestion would be to keep Exchange fully updated - It seems you have done so.
    I'm not sure when SP1 will be released, you may post this question to Exchange forum since it may be more related:

  • Create failover cluster to host Windows 2012 DC, Exchange 2013 and SQL as VMs

    One of our clients has running Windows Essential 2012, SQL and exchange 2007 as VM on VMware for 4 years without major issue. However, the physical server is getting old and have some hardware issues recently. They have budgets to buy two Dell servers, EqualLogic

  • Exchange 2013 hosting

    Hi,
    we have three different mail domain hosted in different hosting companies, currently we need all mail domain should be work in exchange 2013. so we configured four servers 2 CAS server (RRDNS) 2 MB server with DAG, domains are hala.local hala.com
    esys.com ibas.com, hala.com is the main domain. we have 2 public ip for RRDNS. I have created three accepted domain and email policy for each domain groups. Here how can I create mx record for each what type of cert will purchase?
     What about internal DNS, do we need to create split dns for all domains?
    A record to 213.x.x.11
    A record to 213.x.x.12
    1Mx record mail.hala.com to 213.x.x.11
    2mx record mail.hala.com  to 213.x.x.12
    Mx1 mail.esys.com point to 213.x.x.11/mx?
    Mx2 mail.esys.com point to 213.x.x.12/mx?
    Mx1 mail.ibas.com point to 213.x.x.11/mx?
    Mx2 mail.ibas.com point to 213.x.x.12/mx?
    One SAN cert with single domain name or all domain names what will be common name. if cert name is mismatched always users will get cert warning?. Is there any requirement for UC cert?
    Thanks for Your support..

    Hi
    To be more specific refer below
    The URLs and hostnames configured returned to clients are the same across the system. It is not possible to configure tenant specific URLs to be returned via AutoDiscover. The recommendation therefore is to create generic and non-specific names that do not
    identify any specific tenants.
    It is still possible to provide tenants with URLs that match their domain names for services such as OWA or ActiveSync (if they choose to manually configure their device), if that name is also added to the certificate, though it is not generally recommended
    for security and privacy reasons.
    In this scenario, users can manually enter the URL and end up at the hosters’ site. For example, mail.contoso.com could be added to the certificate used by the hoster. If a user types in
    https://mail.yourcompany.com/owa or https://mail.contoso.com/owa they end up at the same site. However, this does result in the names being exposed on the certificate, and anyone viewing the certificate can see those names.
    Another option might be to create tenant specific subdomains of one specific hosting domain, which also provides the benefit of allowing you to use wildcard certificates.
    For example, you obtain a certificate for *.yourhostingdomain.com and create a subdomain for each tenant who requires a vanity domain,
    contoso.yourhostingdomain.com for example. You do not need to add names to the certificate and they can use their tenant specific sub-domain names.

  • Exchange 2013 Online mode slow performance

    Hello,
    We recently moved mailboxes (180 or so) from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013.  We are noticing that Outlook navigation seems to be very slow compared to the last server.  Changing folder views, switching from Inbox to Calendar, Deleting items, etc.
    Also we used to be able to send 40MB HTML emails very quickly.  This now takes about 5 min just to open a reply. (These are tripwire reports.)  Most users are using Outlook in Online mode on the new server and were using Online mode on the old server
    Environment: Exchange 2013 SP1 on Server 2012r2 Standard (6 cores 24 gigs of RAM, VMWare VM.)  Old server is Exchange 2007 8.3.348.2 on Server 2008x64 Standard SP2 (8 cores 12 gigs of RAM.
    Physical.)
    I have a ticket open with MS but didn't really get anywhere after 9 hours yesterday.
    Thanks.

    Hi everyone,
    Here we have exactly the same thing. We did the same migration from Exchange 2k7 to Exchange 2013. We run on a VMware 5.5 infrastructure. We have a lot of users running on a VM, but I can also tell you that I'm experiencing the problem even on a physical
    PC. So the problem about the client side infrastructure is maybe not that much related.
     I also found an old thread talking about a known issue with the grouping option in Outlook and online mode, but this is supposed to be only for Exchange and Outlook 2007, so i'm not able to prove this problem is exactly and only related to this issue.
    however, I tried to disable the grouping option for some folder in my Outlook and I saw an improvement immediately. Here is the thread talking about this issue and the knowledge base associated from Microsoft:

  • Converting from InMotion Hosting to Exchange 2013 Migration

    Hello everyone,
    We are looking to convert our current mail service being hosted on InMotion using POP3 to our Exchange 2013 server. Is there a migration guide somewhere I could find or something to lead me in the right direction? We want to forward the mail from InMotion
    to the Exchange mailboxes as well. I know this involves converting MX records and the such but I feel like something is missing in the grand scheme of things.

    Hi,
    The migration can include:
    1. Account migration.
    2. Database migration.
    3. Some A and MX records need to be configured.

  • Exchange 2013 server stuck in maintenance mode.

    Hello,
    I have a single server setup for Exchange 2013 and recently had an issue with Maintenance mode during updates. I was in the process of getting the server upgraded to SP1 when it happened. I had tried to run the service pack when it returned an error
    saying something was pending and it couldn't install. Because the server had several windows updates and 1 Exchange 2013 security update downloaded from wsus, I thought it was obviously this. So I cancelled out of the sp1 install and ran the updates.
    Once the updates were finished and the server rebooted, mail wouldn't flow. Found out it was because it was in Maintenance mode.
    I'm not sure if it was the SP1 install or the security update that placed the server in this mode, but it seemed like it was the security update(KB2880833.) From what I've found on the interwebs, Maintenance mode is meant for High Availability setups, which
    mine is not and it has to be put into that mode mannually. I never put the server into this mode. Is this done automatically by running updates or Service packs? and if so, how can I turn prevent it from happening automatically? Is it necessary? I have
    no reason to use it, as we only have one server. I've found plenty of info on how to turn it on or off, but nothing about any automatic settings.
    THanks for any guidance.

    Hi,
    When a CU or SP is installed, the server is automatically put in maintenance and I don't think there is a way to stop that. It is written to the
    ExchangeSetup.log and will look like this:
    Set-ServerComponentState $Target -Component Monitoring -Requester Functional -State Inactive
    Set-ServerComponentState $Target -Component RecoveryActionsEnabled -Requester Functional -State Inactive
    Set-ServerComponentState $Target -Component ServerWideOffline -Requester Functional -State InActive
    If the CU or SP runs successfully, it will be taken out of maintenance mode automatically with the below commands but if a failure occurs, it can be done manually with:
    Set-ServerComponentState SERVERNAME -Component Monitoring -Requester Functional -State Active
    Set-ServerComponentState SERVERNAME -Component RecoveryActionsEnabled -Requester Functional -State Active
    Set-ServerComponentState SERVERNAME -Component ServerWideOffline -Requester Functional -State Active

  • Exchange 2013 - outlook in LAN environment very slow upload but fast download - not using 'use cached exchange mode'

    Hi,
    I have Exchange 2013 setup in a new environment (no migration) and it is working great except I just realized there is a big problem.
    I notice the following
    Problem 1:
    Outlook 2010 with sp2 with cached exchange mode on: when I import the pst into outlook, it imports fine but the sync is extremely slow. It uploads to the Exchange 2013 mail server at 20-70KB/sec (bytes) via LAN.
    Problem 2:
    Outlook 2010 with sp2 with cached exchange mode off: when I import the pst into outlook, it imports extremely slow. It uploads to the Exchange 2013 mail server at 20-70KB/sec (bytes) via LAN.
    More info:
    -user1 has 1GB of mail and when setting up the user on a new pc with outlook with cached exchange mode on, it downloads the mail very fast. It downloads at 40-80 Mbps/sec (bits).
    -I have Exchange 2013 with CU3 with win2k12 non r2.
    Why is the download so fast from Exchange 2013 but the upload to Exchange 2013 is extremely slow? How do I fix this?
    Thanks

    I did some more testing.
    I setup a test environment with:
    -Exchange 2013 SP1 on win2k12 r2
    -Outlook 2010 SP2 on windows 7 sp1
    -Outlook 2010 SP2 on windows 8.1
    -Outlook 2013 SP1 on windows 8.1
    Both windows 7 and windows 8.1 have the very slow upload issue to Exchange 2013. Windows 7 upload to Exchange 2013 is around 20-70KB/sec (bytes) via LAN. Windows 8.1 upload is a bit more responsive at around 500-600KB/sec (bytes) via LAN.
    I changed the TcpAckFrequency to 1 for windows 7 and 8.1 and the problem went away. The upload on both Windows 7 and 8.1 was going at megabytes after the change.
    I hope Microsoft fixes this soon.
    PowerShell script to have this automated via GPO:
    http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/571571-outlook-slow-after-migrating-to-exchange-2013
    PowerShell Script:
    $strGUIDS=[array](Get-WmiObject win32_networkadapter -filter "netconnectionstatus = 2" | select -expand GUID)
    foreach ($strGUID in $strGUIDS) {New-ItemProperty -path HKLM:\System\CurrentControlSet\services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\$strGUID -propertytype DWORD -name TcpAckFrequency -value 1}

    Hello daveyellis
    Check the article below to go over some troubleshooting options to resolve issues with send emails from the Mail app. I would look at the settings and look at the outgoing mail server to make sure it is correct. If that does fix it, I would then remove the account and reset it up.

    My team works on a managed EWS API based solution but we've found a behavior of the managed EWS API that we can't explain based on dev documentation (maybe we've missed or misunderstood something).
    The problem is that the following piece of code throws 'At least one recipient isn't valid.' error in the line "up.Update"
    I don't have any recipients for the appointment so that's true that there is no valid recipient but on the other hand I set the invitation mode to SendToNone so the update changes shouldn't be sent to any recipient.  That's is also interesting why  the
    behavior is different when SendToNone is used during creation and SendToNone during updating (the commented out lines). The update works fine in this case.
    try
    var ap = new Appointment(service);
    ap.Start = new DateTime(2014, 1, 31, 10, 0, 0);
    ap.End = new DateTime(2014, 1, 31, 11, 0, 0);
    var r = new Recurrence.RelativeYearlyPattern();
    r.DayOfTheWeek = DayOfTheWeek.Friday;
    r.DayOfTheWeekIndex = DayOfTheWeekIndex.Last;
    r.Month = Month.January;
    ap.Recurrence = r;
    ap.Recurrence.StartDate = new DateTime(2014, 1, 31, 23, 30, 0);
    ap.Subject = "abc";
    // ap.Save(WellKnownFolderName.Calendar, SendInvitationsMode.SendToNone);
    ap.Save(WellKnownFolderName.Calendar, SendInvitationsMode.SendOnlyToAll);
    var up = Appointment.Bind(service, new ItemId(ap.Id.UniqueId));
    up.Recurrence = new Recurrence.DailyPattern(new DateTime(2014, 1, 29), 3);
    up.RequiredAttendees.Add("[email protected]");
    // up.Update(ConflictResolutionMode.AlwaysOverwrite, SendInvitationsOrCancellationsMode.SendOnlyToAll);
    up.Update(ConflictResolutionMode.AlwaysOverwrite, SendInvitationsOrCancellationsMode.SendToNone);
    catch (Exception e)
    Console.WriteLine(e.Message);
    The problem seems to only occur on Exchange 2013. We have also two test boxes with Exchange 2013 and the behavior also slightly differs between the boxes. On the first test box the problem occurs always but on the second one the problem only occurs in  specific
    appointment configurationd. I've never configured exchange 2013 myself so I don't know if there is any parameter during set up that may impact this behavior.
    Does anybody see any problem with the above code?
    Thanks in advance for help

  • Migration exchange 2010 to hosted exchange 2013

    Hello,
    Tried to search for a good solution for what I need but always redirected to places of office365.
    I will explain what i need and maybe you could find me a good solution.
    I have several offices that i give IT support. Some of them with exchange 2003 and some with 2007-2010.
    I want to migrate their servers to my new hosted exchange 2013 (multi-tenancy).
    Is there a way to do CutOver migration?
    What are my options?
    P.s. All offices are working with calendars so PSTing their mailboxes is out of the question.
    Hope you understand what i wanted to do.
    Thanks for the help.
    Lior.

    For what you're planning, a cutover migration would be best.  For that I would recommend a tool like Migrationwiz (http://www.migrationwiz.com).  You can start the migration in advance, get the data copied
    and then do a final incremental move on the cutover date.  In addition to the mailbox move, you will want to synchronize the directories and ensure that the legacyExchangeDN property of the source mailboxes appear as proxy addresses of type
    X500 on the target mailboxes or else they won't be able to reply to old mail or use Outlook contacts or cached addresses.  I don't recall whether MigrationWiz can take care of that for you or not.
