A large white square pops up on my desktop and will not close! How do I get it to close?

When I right click on the little square at the bottom of the page that shows what is open, it says it is free games application, but will not close! I don't know how this got there, but I sure want it to go away!!

Does the system context menu of that window open with via Alt+Space if you set focus to that window?

    my computer froze so i restarted it, and now thats its back on every document i've work on has popped up on the desk top and wont exit. what sould i do?
    it is a macbook pro, OS X mountain lion 10.8.2, i can open new windows and exit them but not all the pop ups

    Start from your recovery system. OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion includes a built in set of utilities in the Recovery System. Restart your Mac and hold down the Command key and the R key (Command-R), and keep holding them until the Apple icon appears, indicating that your Mac is starting up. After the Recovery System is finished starting up, you should see a desktop with a OS X menu bar and a "Mac OS X Utilities" application window. Note: If you see a login window or your own desktop and icons, it is possible that you didn't hold Command-R early enough. Restart and try again.
    When your computer finishes starting up, choose Disk Utility from the Utilities window.
    Click the First Aid tab. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    Select your OS X volume.
    Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.

  • Jpgs converting to large white squares

    I have Adobe 6.0. I only use it to create simple PDFs, and don't need a lot of bells and whistles, so I haven't had the need to update it.
    Hoping I can explain the problem clearly!
    To create an ebook, I have my designer send me a JPG of the cover design and I convert it to a PDF. Up to now, it has worked fine.
    Recently, I tried to convert one of the JPG files but, when converted, it just showed up as a large white square. Or if alternatively I try to create a PDF from multiple files, using the same JPG/cover for the first page, the first page shows as a white square as well, but smaller than the pages that follow.
    Today, my designer sent me a brand new JPG for a completely different cover. It converted with no problem.
    Here's the weird thing: I tried to test this by going back to create PDFs from JPGs that I had no trouble converting in the past. but instead of a successful conversion, this time I got the same white square. These are the same files I used to create the first PDF. Why did it work the first time but not now? Why does it only convert JPGs some of the time?
    Any thoughts?

    Kim - most likely you need to change your Preference to Show Large Images. You do this by the following process:
    1. Click Edit > Preferences
    2. Check Display Large Images in the Page Display Section.
    3. Click OK.

  • Pop up states i'm being directed to a phishing site and to call "this" number, after I click on OK it just keeps popping up again and will not let me out of an endless loop

    I am in an endless loop on my other iMac computer.  I happened upon a page where it said "phishing site ahead" and then a pop up comes on screen telling me to call a certain number and then I click okay and of course do not call and it will not let me out of this endless loop.  Shut down computer, quit Safari, but when I reopen Safari it still takes me to that same page and will not let me out or use any menu items or toolbar items. Just the same little popup box telling me to call a certain number with an OK button and I can't go anywhere or do anything on Safari. What can I do?

    Also I copied this from my other computer web page:
    Reported Phishing website ahead.  Your network ha been monitored.  Your network has been compromised due to Browser hijacking.The browser hijacking software may redirect you towards phishing websites that try to access your Login Password details.  To fix this browser redirection issue we recommend you ask for instant help.  Help Line 1 877 899 1824.
    Then another smaller popup window pops up
    http://www.pcassists.info
    Security Error
    Call Helpline 1877 899 1824
    So this is what I was talking  about, and the small popup window plus the larger  Window stating "Reported Phishing website ahead" will not go away and I cannot use Safari anymore even after I shut down my computer, disconnected it, and then signed on again and reopened Safari, it still takes me to that page and I cannot get out of it.
    PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

    hedger,
    How do you expect anyone to help when we don't know a darned thing about the file, abut your setup, exact version of Photoshop and your OS, machine specs, etc.?
    BOILERPLATE TEXT:
    Note that this is boilerplate text.
    If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand,
    such as your platform (Mac or Win),
    exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop (not just "CS6", but something like CS6v.13.0.6) and of Bridge,
    your settings in Photoshop > Preference > Performance
    the type of file you were working on,
    machine specs, such as total installed RAM, scratch file HDs, total available HD space, video card specs, including total VRAM installed,
    what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far,
    what error message(s) you receive,
    if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them,
    if you're having printing issues, indicate the exact make and model of your printer, paper size, image dimensions in pixels (so many pixels wide by so many pixels high). if going through a RIP, specify that too.
    etc.,
    someone may be able to help you (not necessarily this poster, who is not a Windows user).
    a screen shot of your settings or of the image could be very helpful too.

    No you should be fine. (The MobileMe service is being shut down, anyway, so there should be no impact at all.)

    Yes - I connected my phone to my computer / Itunes and went into the apps section, but from there I have no idea how to manage the push notifications.  I even tryied going into itunes that is installed on my phone.  I still cannot find anyplace to manage these popups.  I have also gone into settings - notifiations - and tried turning all notifications for these apps all off but that didnt work either.  Any guidance is MUCH appreciated - Im not sure where to go from here.

    Move cursor onto video.  Right click.  Click Settings,  Click the "never ask again" box. Then click Close.  That will work.
    For some reason, that always worked for me, but in the last two days, it does not work, and it seems to freeze on the
    video.  See, if it works for you.

    Yes - email & text work fine but when I use something like Google Images or search a blog with imbedded photos I get the empty white boxes with question marks.  If I click the question mark it opens the photo but I can't possibly do that for EVERY image on EVERY page I search!?!?!  I've rebooted the iPad & my wireless card several times but neither action helped.  Have any clue what I should do now?

    == This happened ==
    A few times a week
    == Not sure when it statrted

    Hi.
    When this happens, please press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC and see how much RAM and CPU Firefox is using. If they're sky high, then... Well, that kind of issues are, unfortunately, more common and the we'd like. Thankfully, 99% of the cases are very easy to solve. However, you do need to diagnose what your exact problem is. Do this:
    #run Firefox in safe-mode to disable all extensions and plugins. If this fixes your issues, be them with RAM or CPU usage, then you know it's a problem with plugins or extensions. Proceed to number 2. If safe-mode doesn't fix the issues, then read bellow, after this list;
    #update all extensions and plugins in your Firefox. If this doesn't solve the issues, proceed to the following number;
    #disable all extensions and plugins in your Firefox (not running safe-mode). Being certain that, as in safe-mode, the problems you're having have gone away, enable one plugin at a time. You should be certain that you WANT that plugin to be enabled, so keep your overall number of plugins as low as possible. When you encounter the problems, you know you've found a problematic plugin, so disable it for good. Keep enabling all plugins (except problematic ones) until you've gone through them all.
    #enable one extension at a time. Again, be certain that you WANT that extension to be enabled, so keep your overall number of extensions as low as possible. When you encounter the problems, you know you've found a problematic extension, so disable it for good. Keep enabling all your extensions (except problematic ones) until you've gone through them all;
    #you're done! You've fixed your problems with problematic add-ons.
    Ok, if disabling all extensions and plugins through safe-mode didn't work to bring Firefox's CPU and RAM usage to good levels, then you have different issue. The most likely scenario is that you have a third party software running on your computer that is messing with Firefox. Do as follows:
    #do a virus/malware check on your computer. If this doesn't fix it, proceed;
    #disable all software running in the background that you don't want to have running in the background (in windows, this is done by pressing WINDOWS+R in your keyboard, typing "msconfig" (without the commas) and pressing enter. Now, under the "Startup" tab, you can uncheck the software you don't want, and reboot your system for changes to take effect. If you're unsure of what software you want running, ask someone with more experience). If this doesn't fix you issues with Firefox, proceed;
    #check your firewall/antivirus/security suite for enabled functions/features that you don't want and/or may be conflicting with Firefox. You'll find that these features are most likely tied to Internet Security features, such as link scanners or URL checkers and the like. If you're not sure they are conflicting with Firefox, simply try to disable to see whether or not that's true. As long as you don't browse the web with your antivirus completely off and your firewall completely turned off, there should be no problems. If this doesn't solve the issues, proceed to the following number;
    #check your operating system security options, mainly advanced options that are not configured by default. While it's very unlikely that this may be the cause of the problem (after all, it's the last item on the list), it's remotely possible. If this doesn't do it, I'm out of ideas. Except make sure you've followed my instructions correctly.

    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
