A legit requirement for WMV in Flash

So I've searched the forums, and I've heard the numerous
responses and pretty much confirmed what I suspected to be true.
You can not play a WMV file inside of a SWF Flash file. Ok, Ok, I
get it.
Most of the forum threads have the same responses. Why not
just convert them to FLV? Now, I don't want to debate if WMV, MOV
or FLV are better than another, but I do want to highlight the
business logistics behind one vs. the other and present a valid
reason (in some people's opinions) as to why the embedding of a WMV
component would be something nice to have.
It mainly focuses around DRM (Digital Rights Management)
content. A good majority of business being performed online related
to video content is FLV and Flash based. Players connect to a
Communication Server, FLV's a streamed, everything is secure. I get
that. However we all know the cost of implementing a Flash server
is difficult for casual web designers, or small companies.
In the same sense, some people would like to secure their
video content from appearing on places like YouTube, Google Video
etc. A solution to this is DRM. Unfortunately, all of the great
design elements, skinning, expansion of video window, integration,
etc can be found in Flash.
So, why not convert the WMV to FLV? Well one, because DRM'd
WMV can't be converted and two, it ruins the point of protecting
the video content. The solution I was hoping for was to be able to
embed a Windows component, HTML component or Media component into
my Flash program, point it to the DRM content.. and create a nice
player. Unfortunately, it does not seem to be in my destiny.
Maybe someone will give it consideration, maybe someone can
point me to an alternative or make a viable suggestion or maybe we
just move on with lost hopes. Either way, at least there's a reason
to do it outside of converting everything. Now please don't turn
this into a DRM argument either... :)
Thanks.

  • Which of these 2 articles is correct on Pentium processor system requirement for Flash Player 10?

http://www.ehow.com/info_8526453_flash-player-10-system-requirements.html says that Flash Player 10 on Windows computers requires "a Pentium 4 processor running at 2.33 GHz or an Athalon 64 2800+ processor."
    However, http://www.downloadatoz.com/essentialware/adobe-flash-player/what-is-system-requirement-of -adobe-flash-player-10_g.html says:
"System Requirements of Adobe Flash Player 10:
    • Windows 2000, XP(SP2 and above), Windows Server, Windows Vista., Macintosh OS X, Linux
    • Intel Pentium 450MHz, AMD Athlon 600MHz processor (for Windows);...(for Mac)"
My ThinkPad PC does not meet the processor system requirement for Flash Player 11 or 12, and does not meet what ehow.com (above) says is the processor system requirement for Flash Player 10. However, it does meet what www.downloadatoz.com (above) says is the processor system requirement for Flash Player 10. Adobe.com has the operating system requirements for Flash Player 10, but no longer has the processor system requirement for Flash Player 10.
    My question is:
    (a) Is that "Intel Pentium 450MHz [or] Intel Core Dual" system requirement (from downloadatoz.com) for Flash Player 10.0 and that "Pentium 4 processor running at 2.33 GHz" system requirement (from ehow.com) for a later version of Flash Player 10 (like 10.1); or (b) is one of those two sources (ehow.com and downloadatoz.com) mistaken as to the processor system requirement for Flash Player 10 on Windows computers? If (b), which of those two is the correct Pentium system requirement for Flash Player 10?

What processor does your thinkpad have?
I know they now come with an Intel M, which is the functional equivalent of the Atom, and for ALL intents and purposes, meets the minimum for Flash Player 12 or 13 as long as it's 1.66gHz or faster.
Using, or even considering using, Flash Player 10 in a system newer than Windows 98 or 2000 (SP1 or 2), is unwise and unsafe, expecially if it isn't a "standalone" (not connected) system.

  • Acrobat reader 10.0.x for windows and flash player update

i don't understand why my client require the update of reader (update of 10.0.1), but in the download page (.msp file) i can't find nothing. the other problem was about the update of flash player....i need to distribute the update over GPO, but adobe doesn't release from download page....is because the update are integrated in acrobat reader new release?
the metod is wrong! security is very important and release the updated version of software is also foundamental! IT Pro need an update (.msp or .msi) for the reader and for player.....faster not when you want
so....how you think to resolve this problem? how i can resolve my problem about the update?

Here you'll find the msi and msp files for the Acrobat Reader ("reader" folder on ftp) and Acrobat Pro ("acrobat" folder on ftp). ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/ . Save the link to your bookmarks.
For updating/installing Flash Player you'll have to go over here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html
There's a distribution license needed to deploy the flash player (don't ask my why the hell you'll have to get a license to deploy it in internal environments, although you can download and install it without the license).
Best of luck, i needed a hole day to preparing deployment of cs5.5 and flash player etc. because of lack of information or consistency at the adobe pages and different methods for diffrent products. There should be a way to charge adobe the time it needs to get started, because they earn a damn lot of money with their cs products so they should provide better methods to do these tasks... but thats an endless story, because they're a monopolistic global player i think they aren't really interested in the needs of customers. There's not a real alternative, especially in education you're bound to use it, so you're gonna buy it anyway...

    Mac OS X v10.8 or v10.9

  • System requirements for Creative Suite CS5 Design Premium

I've got a PC whose system specs are:
    - OS Windows 7
    - Intel Pentium P6100
    - Intel HD Graphics
    - 4 GB DDR3 Memory
    - 500 GB HDD
I am not so sure if I can install and use the Creative Suite CS5 on this machine.
    Can anyone help me?
Thank you in advance for your invaluable help.

The answer is the same as in your other thread: It will work, but it's not gonna be much fun. It's still a pretty weak processor and the intel graphics will very likely prevent hardware acceleration features in Photoshop (required for 3D) and InDesign (Flash encoding and interactive authoring) from working properly or at all.

  • Requirements for VLAN select feature in 5508 WLC

    Hello,
We implemented WLC 5508 software version 7.3, with 8 Aironet devices, most of them are AIR-LAP1131AG-E-K9, and two AIR-LAP1242AG-E-K9.
I could really have benefits of VLAN select feature, but I noticed that it's not working like it should. Two interfaces are in Interface group, but from 45 clients only few of them has IP address from one subnet, others have from second sub.
I see requirements for this to work is 32 MB of flash on LWAP devices..I only have 16 MB..
Is there a way to work this thing out? upgrade of flash on devices or something ?
Thank you in advance and kind regards..
    Lovro

Thx L - as usual, I need to read before speaking
Interesting topic though.  I would assume that the MAC hashing algorithm used would be similar to how etherchannel maintaines load balancing (src-dst) etc..  What I don't quite understand is the definition of "dirty".  What makes an interface "dirty"?  Given the flow chart depicted in the link you sent, I'm wondering how the interface assignments are kept in te switch.  I'm assuming you create the interfaces, create the interface group, assign the interfaces to the group and finally assign the interface group to the WLAN.  During all this time, how are the stations using that WLAN being handled?  Almost should clear everything out, create the group tied to the wlan, THEN join the stations one at a time and see what interface they get assigned to.  At that point it should be balanced.  Also, it's my understanding that those stations should keep their assigned interface the next time they connect unless there is a "dirty" condition which I don't quite understand yet.
Anyway - rambling now.  Loking forward to your test results.  Thx again! //art

  • Requirements for Creative Suite 4

We have a Apple iMac G4/1.0, w/ OS X upgrade & an added 1GB RAM. Do you think we have the minimum requirements for Creative Suite 4?

Hello Sgtgold30 and welcome to discussions,
" Do you think we have the minimum requirements for Creative Suite 4? "
I doubt that buying, installing and using this software is going to be a pleasing experience on that particular Mac. The following " specs " are pasted from the Adobe website...
    Mac OS
    PowerPC® G5 or multicore Intel® processor
    Mac OS X v10.4.11–10.5.4
Java™ Runtime Environment 1.5 required for Adobe Version Cue® Server
1GB of RAM or more recommended
10.3GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional hard-disk space required during installation (cannot install on a volume that uses a case-sensitive file system or on flash-based storage devices)
1,024x768 display (1,280x800 recommended) with 16-bit video card
Some GPU-accelerated features require graphics support for Shader Model 3.0 and OpenGL 2.0
    DVD-ROM drive
QuickTime 7.4.5 software required for multimedia features
Broadband Internet connection required for online services
It might just work. It might take hours and hours to work though.
    Regards.
    Ian.

On the Mac, select a text file (.TXT file) in the Finder. Choose File > Get Info. In the Open With section, select the editor you want to use for TEXT files. Click Change All.
Sometimes, you have to do this with more than one TXT file, but it should work.
