Open letter to people who complain about not recei...

Dear fellow Nokia phone geeks,
Hi and how are you. Let me start by saying I mean no disrespect to JimmyIreland, who's open letter was thoughtful and fair, but I despise "open letters" because they are the work of individuals who think they speak for the group and assume (incorrectly) that anyone cares what they have to say.
The company, Nokia, puts out some of the best hardware on the market, including the best camera phone on the market, and an OS that, while much maligned, has some huge advantages over other systems. It's very stable, uses fewer resources, and ultimately demands less of it's hardware than any other smartphone OS.
In 10 months since the N8 was released it has had two complete firmware updates, one in the process and one soon to be released. Nokia was clear about the fact that Anna would be released for some vanilla variety phones in some countries by the end of August. They also said that other countries and variant phones would follow.
Even with this knowledge that Anna would be released by the end of August, dozens of people complained on these boards that Anna was not coming as promised pointing out that Elop was responsible for screwing you and that you are going to go right out and ditch your Nokia and buy an iPhone. Guess what, not only did the initial release come out by the end of August, it came out in the middle of August.
Nokia also told us that they could not predict exactly when each phone would be updated and that certain countries and variants would be forthcoming. Yet you complained that they should have released all the updates at once or that they should have an exact release schedule. That is unrealistic my friends.
Obviously if they were to release all of the updates at once, it would mean that everyone would have to wait for the single release and then, upon the release, everyone would have to deal with the technical support nightmare associated with such a worldwide release. Releasing a schedule would require that Nokia be able to fully control all of the variables and that again, they would have to make some folks wait to get the update until all of the variables could be controlled and a release schedule could be created.
You speculated that Microsoft and/or AT&T were the evil doers responsible for the fact that some of you do not have your update yet. You told the community that you were done with Nokia and that you would never buy another Nokia.
However, you're still here posting your complaints. And every time I visit this board and see new messages posted under the a heading about Anna updates, I click on the thread hoping to learn something new. Nope, there you are still posting your complaints, your speculation and your threats.
Thank-you because reading your posts is like watching a train-wreck in slow motion. I no-longer need waste my time watching reality TV because I am getting my fill here! However I ask you to do us a favor and go ahead and ditch your Nokia and pick up one of those Androids (because Google is so great at updating their phones) or iPhones (because Apple produces such great hardware).

Nokia makes awesome phones. Their software and customer service - not so much. As a software support person myself, I really do sympathize with them but as a consumer, I'm sick and tired of phones (not just Nokia) being rushed out with serious software flaws.That's one reason I got tired of Android, flashing my phone every other week got really old, even if it was fun in the beginning.
For almost five hundred dollars, I expect it to just work. That's not unreasonable, especially when the same hardware is being sold with the fixes I need. For not too much more cash, I could get the most popular smartphone on the planet (with an app store to match). As much as I like Nokia, the experience of owning one in the US is more and more of a drag. If they don't want us as customers, why not just stop selling us phones and promises?

Firstly IF Amazon gave you a promise of an update, Then I'm damn sure they didnt give a date, nor would they promise something like a portrait keyboard. If you really needed a keyboard like that why the heck firstly did you BUY it, and secondly why didnt you buy an E7 at least you can see the converstaion whilst using the keyboad part of the phone. Whilst the cam might not be a 12MP it is an 8MP cam and more than enough for most things, they are similar size and do simialr things only the E7 has the keyboard. When you buy soemthing you buy it for what it is, not what it could be. There is never any guarantees that an update either fully or in part can or will be availble in any particular country. that is the control of the carriers in that country
Also if new N8's were being sold with Anna obviously at the same time for you to compare them like you have in your statement, why didnt you buy one of them. You have been told you will get an update, but you will have to be patient. If you read any of the threads that started to talk about the portrait keyboard, you would see that many people didnt like it, that it was hard to use.
If you want information about the Update then RING NOKIA USA and ask them, dont continue to complain to other users. Only Nokia USA will be able to give any extra information, other than what skyee has said. And currently that is, that its still being worked on.

Why do you not label whether a film or tv series is in VO or VF on the french istores. There are a lot of English speakers living in France and as many French people who would prefer to see the Version Original and not the dubbed versions.

Why do Apple not specify whether their films and TV series are in Version Original or in dubbed French. Let's face it, most people who buy apple TV do so because they are film fanatics, and if you're really into film there's nothing worse than listening to ridiculous dubbing - it ruins the whole thing. At least label the films so we know if they are in VO or VF, and if possible have them in both. CanalPlay can do it, so why can't apple?

We are itunes users like you. We have no idea why the Motion picture industry/film distributors on your country do not provide itunes with this.
Itunes only sells what they are provided by the companies who distribute the content.

Where did you buy this laptop? I know if I opened a box expecing and having paid for a 2012 model and found a 2010 model, I'd be back at the store demanding an exchange quicker than you could imagine. Open box or not, if you thought you were buying a 2012 model, you should get what you paid for.

well it was like this, i phoned in a few days after i placed my order, and i WAS going to pay for expedited shipping, but the lady i was talking to put me on hold three times, when she got back, she just told me as a good will gesture she would give me free expedited shipping.....then last night i phoned in and i was really ticked off that my ipod hadnt shipped, so when i threatned to cancel my order she said she would give me a 30 dollar discount, so i guess im happy now

Is BT infinity good, feedback from people who have...

So my area just got enabled for Fiber Optic and now have a selection of ISP to choose from. At the moment I'm with Sky Boradband Unlimited and they've been perfect. They have offered me a fanstistic deal which is still cheaper than what is BT offering. My question is though is BT Infinity good, I know a lot of people who are with BT at the moment and all they've had is trouble.

I have had no problems at all with Infinity 2 and the home hub 3. I run a MAC (desktop and aptop)an iPad, an androd tablet, two phones, BTVision, Apple TV, OnLive games console all without problems.

Need Webi formula to get list of people who are turning 65 next month

I am trying to get the list of people who are turning 65 in the next month (not everyone who is 65) in Webi 4.1. I have the formula to bring everyone who is 65 next month. If any one has any ideas, I really apprecite it.

You have variable to calculate people aged 65.
1.Create same to calculate people aged 64
2.Create Current month from Current date
Month(Currentdate())
then Convert to CurrentmonthNumber
Then Next Month =Currentmonthnumber+1
Then Write a variable to capture the month numbers from the date of birth.
Now as a report filter Write Nextmonthnumber=Date of birth number.
How it will work:
If i am running In Feb then people having Date of birth month as 3 will be turning 65 right?
So currentmonthNumber =2
NextmonthNumber =Current month +1=3
Date of birth Month number= Next month

1. go to options, then settings
2.go to conversion tab and check the circle 'do not convert'
3.voila!
NOTE:This method might take some memory space equal to the original size of the song...

This isnt really a fix since the whole point of converting is to save space. The help is appreciated but this does not really help

Cant do video with people who dont have certain icon

I got my apple macbook this past friday and had been using ichat fine for the first couple days. Then on Sunday I started getting an error message that says i cant connect with the other person. Yet when I tried video chat this morning i could do it with this person but tonight it hasn't worked. What I noticed is that I have been able to do video chat with people who's icon has been the green camera with other more green "icons" behind the front icon but not with people who only have one green solid icon.

"Stacked" icons are those Macs that can Multichat in whichever icon they are showing you.
Flat, single icons are either PC Buddies or people with Macs that are on Too slow a Connection or a Too slow a Processor. (there can be situations where one end or the other needs to do some Maintenance).
If you can see a mixture it's not you.

This has nothing to do with Apple, as Apple does not make the apps.
This is the decision of the app maker.
Contact those app makers and ask them why they do this.

Is there a way to change the settings on my iPhone so I cannot receive calls from people who are not in my contacts?

Okay so I barely use the calling/phone app (the one that comes on it) on my iPhone but most of the calls I get are from random people who I do not know who have the wrong number asking for the same people! I block them all I can but they're not always the same number there's different numbers all the time it's extremely annoying and driving me crazy, the one person left a voice mail again asking for the same person so I called them back and they denied they ever called I kept telling them I got a voicemail from that number and they kept saying no one called from that number. I literally cannot take this anymore. I remember seeing somewhere when I was setting up my phone where I can set it so people cannot call you if they're not in your contacts list. Is there a way to do that? If there is could you please let me know and how to do so? I seriously really need this please. I have an iPhone 4s that's on ios 7.1.2 if that helps any. Thanks so much.
